but then, i a) don’t even celebrate christmas and b) hate the idea of cutting down a tree. so, really. if i had the choice, i’d do neither, because… well. christmas is just a day off for me.
I have a real tree. It was made in a factory, but it’s real.
Real but not the mess, so I use a fake.
fake pre-lit one. Im allergice to real pine trees, and I’m too lazy too.
None, really. I don’t like them that much. I don’t like Christmas that much, actually.
Well, I love Christmas and a real tree, but had to go to a fake one a couple of years ago because of pets and fire hazzard~
After I make 500 wreaths and cut pine I am to tired of it to set up a tree ,but I prefer the smell of a real one!
Real…aside from the tree full of ticks we bought one year, my fondest memories have been of a live Christmas Tree.
This is interesting because I was just talking about this with my guy– I grew up with having real Christmas trees every year. My guy, the opposite. When I was little, I thought it was ridiculous that someone could ever have a fake tree. But now that is changing since I’m living on my own- Pretty sure that I will be getting (eventually) a decent fake tree. At the moment, with my small apartment, I’ll be getting a little one. It’s cheaper, practical, and I know I’d be too lazy to get a real one. But if I ever have kids… who knows. They’d probably want one. Unless I raise them not to…. hehe
fake–more economical if no better reason. Isn’t that what pine-scented candles were created for anyway?
REAL. I bet you people prefer fake tits too.
a fake one that legitimately passes for real.
No tree for me … hihi
real, hands down.
REAL…. freshly cut!
I prefer a fake tree. No muss, no fuss, no hassle. I always seemed to have a big mess when I had a real tree. Once the tree skirt accidentally got into the base and wicked all the water out onto the presents. I got my fake a few years ago and I love it. It looks very real and it’s 3 easy pieces. I think I’m saving money in the long run because real trees get more and more expensive every year.
We’ve got a fake one. I’d rather have a real one though, I like the smell.
FAKE!!
there’s just something about a real tree that a fake one can’t replace – and seeing as most xmas tree nurseries plant a tree for every one they cut down- it’s not as harmful as one pretends.
but i doubt we’ll do any tree this year seeing as my toddler would wreck it in 5 secs flat AND my FIL makes a big deal about the pagan roots of the tree tradition- he does the same thing regarding the easter egg….
I prefer to not break out in a rash and sneeze throughout December, so we have an artificial tree.
REAL!
I prefer real trees, but they are a lot more work. The needles fall of everywhere, you have to make the tree fit through the doorway, etc.
I’m going to have a fake tree this year since I’m in an apartment.
I prefer the smell of a real one…but not the mesh of dropping pine needles in the carpet. A fake one is easy to set up and it’s cost is spread out over many uses.
My grandparents have a pine tree in their front yard that they decorate for Christmas every year. I think it’s cool that they have a Christmas tree outdoors (as well as one indoors!)
Cough. Choke. Sniff — Fake.
Besides – a fake one can go up earlier and stay up longer without threatening to burn down the neighborhood.
Real….we go out to a reindeer ranch nearby to get our tree, visit the reindeer, and then we have hot wassail and cookies in the shop as the kids pick out their ornament for the year. Traditions!
Both…. family room has a real one, my daycare suite has a fake one….I like either one.
real
Fake.
i like real ones the most. yay
I would like a real one. But since they end up costing like 50-60 dollars I just use the one in the box. It is a lame 4 foot sad charlie brown excuse for a tree. But the way I see it, this way I can buy my kids one more great gift. Christmas time gets me down almost every year. My two oldest kids are born December 1st and 8th. The sister in law is the 3rd and the mother in law is the 23rd. (my youngest kids are born January 20th and 27th) So this time a year is just well costly to say the least. We always go into debt and don’t get out until right befor christmas time comes again.
. Sucks to be me some days! .
Real.
And i’m almost old enough to run for President…scary thought. Not that i would want to really…
Real. Because cutting down trees makes Algor angry.
Nothing beats a real tree! Unfortunately, my roommates don’t feel the same way.
Would always prefer a real one, but we have a fake one from when we were apartment dwellers, so every year we’re like, “Why go buy a real one even though we’re in our own house now when we have this really nice fake one?”
Real. 1. I’m from the Northeast, so it’s sort of a tradition. Plus, we can use the dead tree for firewood later in the winter, and, as it decomposes, it helps fertilize the ground. 2. The smell is incredible. 3. The pine needles that fall off can be used for sachets around the house. Just put some in cheesecloth or a nice decorative cloth and hang where it’s smelly! Or in the front hall, so people can smll it during the winter as they walk in…
It’s not really a waste, and those who say it’s a mess obviously are too lazy to really enjoy one! Have you never heard of putting the skirt around the tree to catch the “mess”??!
A real tree if someone else cleans the needles up when time to take it down. I love the smell of them in the house. But I would go with the fake tree as when it comes time to pick a tree out, it’s ALWAYS raining or REALLY cold outside. Easier just to go the the attic and pull down the fakey and set it up and be done with it. Hum…..never thought about it, sounds like I don’t enjoy decorating huh! My bad back DUZ have a small part in that though!
a real one.
I am not fond of the smell of blue spruce though… to me it smells like cat pee…
So I like other kinds.
I actually prefer a real one, but with two young children (one of whom would try to eat it) I have enough to clean up after without adding to it. So, for now, a fake one is more convenient.
A real one.
RYC: You are funny!
I wish I could have a real tree. I’m allergic, they make me sneeze.
Fake. Real trees don’t mix with the “green” trend too well.
real
Neither!
I’d rather have a fake one. I don’t like the idea of killing a tree for the vain purpose of decorating it and throwing it away a month later.
I’ve had a fake one for most of my early life but a there’s nothing like a fresh real one
Ive never had a real one… I’d like to try a real one for the smell one year…
fake. i don’t like cleaning up after a real tree.
fake, less mess to clean up! but in general i’m not that into the american christmas idea. i like my russian ways!
Fake. It’s easier to clean up and you can use it year after year.
although that is not to imply that russians don’t do trees, i just am not into the american style of christmas stuff. which i don’t have time to elaborate more on!
Fake.
It’s BETTER for the environment, it can be REUSED
We used to keep our real Christmas tree up for a long time after Christmas. . .one time it was up a year. . .we took it down next Christmas eve and a few hours later put up another tree. . .
of course by then, it was very brown and I’m sure a fire-hazard too. . .but fake trees stay the same year-after-year. . .
None
I was reading about a company that supplies real trees that are ready to transplant after the holiday season, so once I have land that I could plant my Christmas trees on I would get that kind of real tree. Until then I just can’t bear to have a tree cut down for me to decorate (even if they plant 100 to replace them) so we use a very convincing fake one for now.
REAL! Papa Bear and the kids usually go and cut one down, but I’m considering buying an artificial one AFTER Christmas, b/c it would save some money in the long run.
a fake one since i’m allergic…
fake - we were fed up with the needle dropping off one year
real. because i love the smell. i love it so much, i got one of those yankee candle things for my car!
I’m happy with our fake tree. It never needs watering.
real, but my family won’t have it. i do have a palm tree decorated in my dorm room however, a living one, so that’s my fill for the year i guess, because when i get home it’ll be that stupid fake one.
i dunno. i would say a fake one that looks real.
REAL
Prefer? Real. Reality? Sneezy allergy woman has a pre-lit fake one.
If we had a tree, I would prefer it to be real. But we don’t believe in spending money on “Christmas Trees” when they really have nothing to do with the birth of Christ. Like many of the “Christian” traditions, its origins are deep in the Pagan rituals, so we just avoid them. Christmas trees are never mentioned in the Bible, by the way. I hope that too many people are not offended by my comments, but I really believe that historical truth is important. Some people may prefer to continue in ignorance of the origin of a tradition, but it seems to me that it is better to be aware.
Real but because my oldest has allergies we have to the ole fake thing. Blahk
Fake. It’s saves so much money. You are just able to reuse it year after year.
We’ve always had real ones, and honestly every time I look at someone’s fake tree it just looks… sad. It’s so obviously plastic, and you can usually see the metal spoke through the middle and well I just don’t like them. I’ll settle for a smaller real tree if I have to.
BTW I was just reading something about how fake trees are actually less environmentally-friendly than buying/cutting real ones, since fake trees will all eventually go into landfills (but real ones can be cut up for mulch, etc). You can also get a potted tree, and then plant it outside after the holidays.
fake
Real. Love the smell of the musky wood! Haha.
We have a fake one. To get the smell, my mom just burns an evergreen scented candle. Every year, people ask if it’s real.
I think that it’s better in the long run to get a nice fake tree. I think we’ve been using this one for at least ten years.
I was like, 7 before I found out that not all trees were fake. haha.
No mess and you can use it again and again, so it’s cheaper.
None- what’s the point?
My family has ALWAYS had a real one, and I love it.
There’s something about buying a real tree and tossing it out on the street with all the other dead trees every year. A fake tree that people are always asking, “Is it real?” is my way to go every year. My last tree went for 12 years and just bought a new one this year.
Real but I have a fake one cuz my cat would be all over a real one.
I’ll just buy a pine scented candle!
i have a fake one and it’s very nice. and i have candles from illuminations that smell exactly like christmas trees so i don’t miss the smell.
I like the fake one and then burn a pine scented candle to make up for the smell of a real one.
Real!!!!!!
It would have to be a fake one. I’m allergic to real ones.
I think a real one would be prettier (and smell better) but then you have to clean up the needles. So maybe a plastic one, since I’m a lazy ass.
ryc: My dentist has said so. You are the first non-medical professional to say it, and I’m flattered. RYC: I wouldn’t say it’s likely, hehe!
Fake, though I often forgo a tree.
fake. it’s really dry in socal during christmas, so unless you want tinder by the 25th, go fake pre-lit.
i do love a real one. someday, when i have my acres and acres of land, maybe i’ll plant a christmas tree every year in a christmas tree field. then decorate them with white lights. *sigh* wouldn’t that be loverly?
Real! We’ve had a fake one ever since I was four or five because my sister is violently allergic to real ones. Sure, fake ones are easier and probably more econopmical, but there’s nothing like the smell of a real pine Christmas tree. =)
real, but when we travel we put up a “fake” — so this year, it’s fake!
That’s a tough one. I prefer a real tree, but you have to remember to water it all the time and it is a real mess when the needles drop all over the place. There is a wonderful store that has multitudes of beautifully decorated fake trees .. you don’t even know they aren’t real. I would love to just buy one already decorated and just set it in my house. I’m not a huge fan of all the work involved with decorating a tree. I know .. I’m a scrooge. *bah humbug*
Real, always…
They smell wonderful.
been using the same fake one for 16 years
I love a real tree. (we do recycle the tree afterwards, it’s made into mulch)That’s really one of the few things I like about Xmas
Deff. A fake one you can always make it smell real with pine spray lol
real real real…. but you can hide the flaws in a fake one better.
the irony of life is that I LOVE real christmas trees but am allergic to something about them, perhaps the sap
I have a fake one because I don’t need my cat or dog pissing on a real one. Plus real trees tend to give off this animal urine smell and it ruins the whole real tree thing. I hate when the pine needles fall off too and they get caught in your socks. My fake PRELIT tree rocks. I don’t have to fight with the lights or untangle them either.
I guess you could say I am lazy.
This year I am getting a real Christmas tree for the first time EVER. I’ve heard it’s a lot of work, but I guess I’ll see what all of the fuss is about?
One that comes fully decorated and prelit. I’m allergy prone to the real ones and assembling the fake ones makes me break out in hives. Seriously.
Real ones smell so nice… but shed like cats and catch on fire.
I don’t celebrate Christmas, but if I did I would have a fake tree for allergies-related reason.
I prefer the smell of a real tree hands down but it pains me and makes me sad that it was chopped dead. No im not a tree hugger but i feel so sad watching the tree dry up and die.
We have been doing fake for some time now.
i would probably want a fake one , last longer
We have an artificial tree that is a real Christmas tree.
As much as I love having a real tree I think that they are 1) a bigger pain for maintenance and cleaning and 2) a bit wasteful use of a tree.
So it’ll probably be a very realistic looking fake tree for me and my family once we get the room for a bigger one. Right now we have a little foot and a halfer we’ll be putting up soon.
Real. But, then, I don’t clean up after it, my parents do.
Real, but my mum will put up the fake.
real – to support businesses.
Fake ones grab my attention and I can’t look away. But I prefer real ones. They feel nice.
Oh, wait. Christmas trees???
Navermind.
The fake ones are nice, but I like the real ones too as long I cut it myself (they last longer).
fake, they last much longer, are cost effective, and they make a lot less mess.
REAL!
fake. definitely.
besides. they dont shed needles all over the place!
Fake
A fake tree because you don’t have to water it. It also lasts longer and you can reuse it.
cool site
Would you prefer a real woman, or an inflatable doll? Give me a break!
real. ain’t nothing better than the smell of a christmas tree. well, next to the smell of pies bakin’ in the oven. but i don’t bake. so with the tree, i still win. =)
Real. They smell so good. As long as I’m able, I want a real one. One year in Africa we used a palm branch. The ornaments kept sliding off.
my brother is allergic. must get a fake one.
Definitely a real tree. Growing up it has been a tradition to go and pick out a Christmas tree, Christmas would not be the same without one. Plus I love the smell! =)
well FAKE . because the Real ones atrract Buqs & stuff .
YUCK ! iHATEBUGZ
fake, cause you can keep it up longer and there is less a fire hazard. we put ours up last week and that is about 2 weeks earlier than usual.
You don’t have to clean up pine needles when you have a fake one, which I admit is easier. But I miss the days when my family would get a real one every year from the tree farm…even if those needles hurt like a MOFO when you accidentally prick yourself on them! Nothing compares to the real thing.
real vs fake….
real ones smell great but they dry out and drop needles everywhere… fake ones look funky and not real…..
i want a real one
Fake; I’m allergic to real pine trees.
real, no tree this year.
The only good thing a real tree has on a fake one is the smell.
I like using fake Christmas Tree. No mess.
Real, but we’re not having a tree this year.
i’ve always celebrated with a fake tree. I don’t think there’s any need to kill a real tree
we cant have real one’s here because those kind of pine don’t grow in my country…
so guess i only have one choice… fake… hehehehe
and its more eco friendly that way…
The biggest, tallest real tree I can find.
love the real…and very eco friendly . Those farms actually are helpful to the environ.
A fake one for a few reasons: less messy, less likely to start a fire, saves money since you can use the same one every year.
i use fake trees.
Real
Fake… I didn’t even know there were real christmas trees until I was in second grade.
Prefer real but it will be fake for the first time ever this year. I’m going to get one of those auto air fresheners in pine smell to help.
Real but use a fake.
were getting real this year b/c its eco-friendly and it’s smells nice.
we’ve always had a fake one. Although, my piano teacher as a kid had a real one, and I always loved how it smelled….
real, if I can get one, preferably, still alive. I like the pine smell.

the irony of life is that I LOVE real christmas trees but am allergic to something about them, perhaps the sap
