  • Dead People

Do you think your friends and relatives that have died can see what you are doing now?

  • Planting Questions

Hillary Clinton is coming under fire because senior staff members of her campaign planted at least one question in an audience.

    Hillary Clinton

A college student, Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff, told reporters that she was approached and told to ask Hillary Clinton a certain question about global warming.  Hillary Clinton then called on her and she asked Hillary what she would do to stop the effects of global warming.  Here is the link:  Link

Does participating in planting questions make you trust Hillary less?

  • Equal Pay

Feminists from NOW (National Organization for Women) had a “pay equity bake sale” at San Diego State.  They charged people of different race and gender different costs for cookies.

For example, the men had to pay a dollar for a cookie.  A woman would have to pay 75 cents for a cookie.  A Hispanic woman would pay 50 cents for that same cookie.  Here is the link:  Link

The obvious point was that men make more money than women.  In fact, a number that is often thrown out is that women make 75% of what men do.  Others contest that number as a man at the end of the article pointed out.

In your experience, do women make less money for the same job as men?

  • Peace

A teacher put together a Veterans Day map of the country for students to have as an assignment.

The desire of the teacher was that the students would learn “alternatives to war.”  The project included the names of conscientious objectors and their hometowns.  They were putting the conscientious objectors on the map.

The principal stopped the project.  “The principal says she’s all for free speech, but doesn’t think our youngest students are ready yet to hear about war protesting.”  The students were 4th graders.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think 4th graders are ready to hear about war protesting?

  • Holiday Meal

    Turkey or ham?

  • Name the Caption

Caption this photo of a president meeting with a troop burned in Iraq.

  • Water Shortage

With parts of the nation experiencing a water shortage, a bill was brought to Congress to study the nation’s water usage.

Two members of Congress from Michigan felt this was an attempt by the federal government to take water from the Great Lakes.

Rep. Candice Miller said, “I don’t think I’m being too alarmist about this.  Do not look to the Great Lakes to solve the nation’s water problems.”

Another Congressman from Michigan warned what would happen if the federal government attempted to take the water.  Republican Vern Ehlers said “I would suspect we’d call up the militia and take up arms.  We feel that serious about it.”  Here is the link:  Link

If the nation faces a serious drought, do you think the federal government should step in and take control of the Great Lakes?

  • Gynecological Exam

I was reading Bluemarsupial’s site and she was talking about taking her husband to her gynecological exam.  I remember going with my wife when she was pregnant with each of our kids.  Even though we were obviously having sex, it is somewhat awkward to be present for the exam.

Men:  Would you be uncomfortable being with your significant other during a gynecological exam?

Women:  Would you be uncomfortable having your significant other there during a gynecological exam?

  • Ads

I was watching Grey’s Anatomy tonight.  The main problem I had with the program was they kept interrupting it with all of these ads.

I could understand a commercial at the start of the program and a commercial at the end.  But it crosses the line to put a commercial in the most dramatic part of the show.

New Google software could make mobiles cheaper

I guess my main concern was about the integrity of the show.  How could the actors be trusted when they were relying on sponsors so heavily?  How could we be sure that the show was not being corrupted by cooperate interest.

    Gorgeous Google phone! Ooooh!...

I just had to turn off the TV and play with my new Google Android OS.  It was the only thing that I knew was reliable.

Is it me, or does it feel like every one else is selling out?

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences are Evil Part 2

I want to frame this issue in a way that is objective and doesn’t bias opinion one way or another.

    Are parent/teacher conferences evil?
