  • Hooters

I was reading angi1972′s site.  She took her kids to Hooters.  Apparently in their area, kids eat free on Sunday.

A Hooters Girl models one of the restaurant chain's waitress outfits, which sometimes create controversy.

I mentioned before about how a school teacher in our area got in trouble for taking students to Hooters but it never even occurred to me that some people would take their own children.

Would you take your children to Hooters?

  • I’m gonna go with a “no” on that.

  • Hey the food isn’t bad at Hooter’s.  Yes I would take my kids if I had them.

  • Oh hell no. I wouldn’t even take myself to Hooters. (No offense meant.)

  • My parents took me there once, apparently. (I don’t remember it, but there’s a lot I don’t remember about my childhood.)

  • Maybe for my son’s 18th birthday.  MAYBE.
I’ve never been there but I’ve heard their food is pretty good.

  • Nope.  Wouldn’t go there myself.

  • Nope, I don’t even go!

  • I would. If it was free, and if I had kids.

  • Hooter’s isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Friends and I like to go there together to just have a good time, and it doesn’t involve the waitresses. The place is really a neat restaurant to go to.

  • Never been
But I think that they see worse on any given summer day on the street or on TV so it is no big deal to me.

  • Hooters gets such a bad rep, and it’s generally from the people who have never been there.

I used to work at a Hooters. Worst job ever, but because of the managers, not the customers. People brought their kids in all the time, and it was never a big deal. It’s a restaurant where the girls wear jogging suits, and are attractive… that’s it. It’s not like they’re topless and dancing on poles or anything.

    Lighten up, people.

  • I dunno..  We don’t have hooters so I don’t see that I’m going to there anytime soon..  I ain’t that willing to make the distance just to go to “Hooters”.

  • NO. I won’t even go there. TRASHY.

  • i think it’s okay.
they cant be eating mcdeeees FOREVER.

  • Yeah i would probably take them. They see worse at baseball game pizza parties, mothers and dads all drunk and whorey.

Hooters is one of my daughter and her friends’ favorite place to have birthday parties.

  • personally, i’ve been the child that’s been taken to hooters. it was harmless.

  • Sure thing. Especially if there’s free food.
    Can’t beat free food. =)

  • Absolutely not!  No, that isn’t because I take offense to their ugly waitresses or the skimpy costumes.  It’s because I wouldn’t be able to eat anything at Hooters – I don’t eat meat or fried foods.  I wouldn’t want my children eating that if I could help it, either… I’m certainly not going to stop them if they want to, but I’m not going to facilitate it by going someplace where they have no choice.

  • Only the boys :) I don’t know, I’ve never been there but it doesn’t seem all that bad to me and I don’t actually have any kids. My nieces and nephews see more than that at the local swimming pools or school track meets.

  • NO.. I dont have kids.. but I dont even take myself to hooters. I dont liek wings that much and I do like the “hooters”.. but thats exactly why I dont go. I have enough trouble trying not to google at girls in regular places, much less a place I would go to specifically google at them. Plus, besidesme thinking it is wrong to go to places just to satisfy my lusts – it probably is not good to eat their and support such a bussiness.

I wish that the chruch would tell my youth group to not go to HOOTERS before they would tell them not to go see THE GOLDNE COMPASS.. lol, just my personal opinion. The world is so full of irony.

    Daniel (doubledb)

  • Hooters is not all that “whorish”, and the one by my house, the majority of the waitresses aren’t anything special to look at.

But they have some good food!

So if i had kids, yes i’d take them there. You can’t beat free food

  • No. Why would you take children to a place where the point of the place is to get guys horny? I’m not saying hooters isn’t fun to go to (though their wings suck), but why does little johnny need to see his dad check out the ass of a 20 something-year-old while she walks by and do the awkward flirt thing with your waitress who is working her hardest to get a good tip.

Here’s another question. Why do girls actually like going to Hooters?  Because I know some who do, but I still don’t get it.  If they asked me to go to a restaurant/club where the guys are in speedo’s and they wanna check out all the guys’ packages my answer would be hell no, they can go but why would I wanna go?

  • hmmm well… responces aren’t as bad as I thought they could be.

  • My parents did.(I have two older brothers)

My mom moreso lately, but that’s just cause it’s the only place I can get crab legs that I like..lol

It’s not like they’re a hostile, anti-family environment. Yes, the girls dress skimpy, but most of them won’t whore themselves out, especially if you have kids. Though, I’ve noticed at our Hooters that if you don’t have a guy with you, it’s very unlikely you’ll get good service.

  • Oh my! Kids eat free?  Yeah, I can just see it – We are sitting there, waiting on the wings, and my son says “Jeeze mom! How come u dont have boobs that big? Those are awesome!”

Nah…We’ll stick to the tuesday night “beat the clock” take out pizza deal at Breadeaux.

  • McD vs Hooters…
    Hooters would win.

I would have no problem taking my kids there.

  • The first time I went there was with my mom when I was 12.  I haven’t been back since.  Oh, and I fucking hate Ricky from MTV News.

  • Ha…if you ask my 6 year old sister what her favorite restraunt is she will gladly say “Hooters”

  • fuck no. the food sucks.

  • Eh, no thanks.  As a rule, I’d probably try to stay away from restaurants that are named after boobs. ;)

  • No, not even if they paid me to take my kids there.  In fact, I have never been there, partly because we rarely eat at restaurants anyway, and then only if I know they have a vegetarian menu item.  God bless and take care.

  • I don’t get why i wouldn’t… is the food good? I know guys go there for the waiters, but that’s just them.

  • I’ve never been but assuming I had, I’d probably take them. I’ve had friends go for fun, and they’ve said the food’s pretty good. A lot of girls I know go, just to have a good time.

But I guess with a place called “Hooters” you can’t be uptight – too much, and I’m not a fan of ritzy restaurants anyway, so sure. I’d go. :)

  • Hooters really isn’t all that bad. I’ve seen people with their children there all the time. I would take my children if I had any but then again, Hooters wouldn’t be my first choice for food.

  • Kids on a high school field trip at my school were allowed to go to Hooters to eat.

  • Dunno. I’ve never been, so I’m not sure if the food is good or not.  It also depends on the age of the kids – I’d be more hesitant to take older kids there.

  • Not even if their mom worked there >.>

  • Hell no!

And, uh, Dan, do you ever sleep?

Your Xanga is updated so often that I seriously doubt that you sleep.

  • Ew, no. I would only take kids there for punishment and even then I wouldn’t want to. Their food is shitty and it is loud and the women tend to be gross. No thanks.

  • I would not but I had a aunt who did. None of the family would discuss her actions as we disagreed with her.

  • No because we do not have one here,    even if we did I would not take my kids or myself there.

  • My parents took me there all the time when I was a kid. They have the best chicken wings!

  • I don’t see anything wrong about it. :)

  • I don’t go to hooters because I don’t like crap food.
If i had children, i’d rather get them something healthier than that crap.

  • I do not eat fast food often

  • Absolutely no way.  I have 2 boys, and I want them to respect women, not think they’re trashy looking eye candy.

  • I won’t go there myself. However, I can certainly understand the appeal of being able to treat your kids to dinner out on a tight budget, so I’m not judgmental of any parent who does.

  • Never quite thought of it as an appropriate place for families………..unless of course you think that Hooters is the minor league, and the right way to get the family ready for the full monty at a REAL stripclub!

  • Probably not. About the story thought, that is a parents choice. A teacher should not take a student to such a contraversial place.

  • oh yeah. They are just tits.

  • those shorts look really uncomfterbol.

  • Can’t say I would take my kids, but not because of the waitress’ attire.  I’ve been to a couple different Hooters restaurants and I found the food to be little more than mediocre as was the appearance of the waitresses.  Concerning their attire, you see more walking down the street on a hot summer day and you see way more on the beach.  You see more on regular TV these days as well.  The girls at Hooters are wearing tank tops and short shorts, for goodness sake.  They aren’t naked!

  • not unless I want my girls dressing like that

  • What’s wrong with hooters? I’m tired of people making it out to be some strip joint. Only thing I can see remotely close to being a reason not to take children is the fact that they have a bar. So does outback, chilis, nearly every stake house you go to.

Someone want to give me a valid reason?

  • I have no problems with Hooters.  My parents took me there.  It’s a great place to eat and it isn’t trashy like most people think.

  • … if they were hungry for wings … maybe …

  • Why not? They have great food! I love going there because every single waitress i’ve ever had was the best. I’m addicted to their wing sauce (thank goodness i can buy it at the store too) and no one deep fries things like they do. Plus i can watch sports while i’m there.

I’ve noticed that the men who frequent hooters tend to check out the women eating there more than the servers.

  • There are always places that offer “kid’s eat free” deals.  If you don’t want your kids to be exposed to that kind of environment- where women are looked at as objects- then take them to Fazoli’s or wherever.  I don’t eat at Hooters, I’ve never been there, and I think that if Hooters was really a place that didn’t place women in a position where they are ogled by men, then they would have men servers.  Helloooo, the restaurant is named after boobs!  Unless they started calling boobs “hooters” because of the   restaurant…I don’t know.  Not that I would want to be waited on by a man that was dressed like that either…ewww.

  • Most definately NOT!  I wouldn’t take myself there, for that matter!!!!!!

  • Free food and big boobs……what’s not to like!

  • Probably not.

  • I’ve never been there myself so I couldn’t say. If I even thought about taking my child though I’d have to go there alone first to see what it’s like.

  • We did.  When our son was young and entering adolesence, kids at school were talking about it and devising ways to sneek over and get a peek.  If he was going to go, we wanted him to be with us.  We took the family, had burgers, and talked about what they were reallly selling and why viewing women strictly as sex objects is not a good thing.

We took much the same approach to cartoon viewing.  A lot of cartoons promote violence as a solution to problems. At the time we were at the peak of the ninja turtle popularity.  We knew they would see these shows at other children’s homes.  So instead of forbidding them in our house, we watched them with the kids and for each show explained how they could have handled the situation better and why violence is (in most cases) a bad choice.  What works in fiction to make it exciting is a terrible choice in real life. So, while the other kids were ninja kicking each other on the playground, mine stepped back and stayed out of the frey.

  • we don’t have a Hooters here, so i have no idea how good their food is, i don’t see why not, can’t beat free.

  • Sure, why not?  Tons of families go there with their kids.  There’s nothing wrong with it.

  • No, because I wouldn’t go there myself.

  • I would.

  • It is a parents choice on whether or not they would take their children there. I, personally, would not want to take my children to a place like Hooters. I’m not saying it is because the girls are skanky or whatever, because they probably aren’t. I am just not into bringing my children into that sort of enviroment – free food or not. I know plenty of restaurants where kids eat free on certain days – without the big boobs, and skimpy outfits.

To answer whataboutbahb’s question as to why women would want to go to Hooters – it’s like asking why a woman would want to go to the Strippers (not saying women at Hooters are in any way related to Strippers) – I go to the Strippers all the time with my friends. I just enjoy watching them dance. They are working, and we’re being entertained. I mean, what’s the harm in that?

Mind you – I’ve never taken and will never take my children into an enviroment like that with horny men, and boobs. It just doesn’t seem right to me. But it’s how I was raised.

    Sincerely,
    T.

  • my mom never let me go.. I dunno if I’d change that. I’d have to see if the food is good.  Honestly though, I don’t see a problem with it.  You could teach them a lesson about it.

  • A) the food’s terrible, really. worst wings evar.

    B) and teach my boys to objectify women, and my girls to be objects? no thx.

  • I see nothing wrong with taking a kid to Hooters.  I hate to say it, but you go to any restruant in town and you will see patrons wearing less than the waitresses there have on.

Hooters has some great chicken sandwiches, so why not.

  • Nah…aight…laters!

  • HOOTERS IS JUST A SPORTS BAR! THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE WAITRESSES DRESS IN SKIMPY CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!

People, you REALLY need to get over yourselves. It’s not a STRIP BAR!!!!!! IT’S A RESTAURANT!!! And obviously NOT as bad as you all think if they have KIDS DAY!!!!

Yes, I would. I have eaten at Hooters many times. They have really good wings, and I don’t care for wings that much. Oh, and since I worked across the street from one, HAVING BIG BOOBS IS NOT A REAQUIREMENT!!!  Seriously, if they had given the place ANY other name, I’m sure you guys wouldn’t freak out as much. Seriously, Harry Potter is more inappropriate either. Why don’t y’all TRY AND GO SEE FOR YOURSELVES before you say it’s a horrible place. Sheesh. Ignorant people.

  • Do you take your kids to the beach?? Where women walk around in string bikinis and even LESS clothes? Good gracious.

  • Nope and I wouldn’t go  there by myself either

  • Uh, that would be a no.

  • I have a 16 year old boy who is a raging hormone. I have a 14 year old daugher who has body image and self esteem issues, I have a 12 year old boy who seems to be facsinated wih women’s breasts at such a young age (probably because of his older brother’s influence)… there is no way in hell I would take my kids to  Hooter’s!

  • “Do you take your kids to the beach?? Where women walk around in string bikinis and even LESS clothes? Good gracious” perseykhad

Actually no I don’t take my kids to beaches where hey would be bombarded with such things like dental floss up women’s asses and pasties on women’s npples that pass for swimwear.  We go to certain public pools where we know the people will be appropriatly clothed. Or we go to out of the way creeks, streams, and rivers. It’s not wrong for parents like me to want to keep our children away from such things.

  • It’s not that bad.  I’d take my kids to Hooters.  Heck in todays society it probably wouldn’t register.

  • Everything Perseykhad said was BRILLIANT!!  I so agree with her!

  • I don’t think I’d want my kids to eat that much fried food. :P

  • Nope. I don’t go there myself. However I am a hypocrite, and I do buy the Hooters sauce and make boneless wings at home b/c I do think they make the best sauce. I just don’t like the setting at the actual place.

  • probably not since I wouldn’t even bring myself to one

  • Yep, let my kids know the good stuff early in life.

  • NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My parents took me all the time.

My dad said he liked the hot wings.

    Yeah, okay, Dad.

  • Why not? The beach is much worse. I wouldn’t take my kids not because of the girls, but because of the sensory overload from all the televisions. I like to have converations with my kids at meal times.

  • If they ate for free, sure.

  • Btw, anyone else think those outfits are totally lame?  a) tucked-in shirt and b) hiked up shorts = lame.

  • I would NEVER EVER take myself, much less anyone else, to Hooters. My father sold the lighting for one of their food warehouses…. he saw dirt and mold and even DEAD RATS in with the food. Nasty. Not to mention I wouldn’t want to expose anyone to the waitresses.

  • my older brother took my littler brother there for his 16th birthday and embarrassed the crap out of him. it’s all fun and games for siblings, but not my kids.

then again, i’d rather let my young kids go (young enough so they don’t know what “hooters” are) then let my spouse go.

  • I would, if they had good food.

  • Here in Las Vegas there are plenty of other places to take children other than hooters…

If I had  kids  they would not go within a million miles of the place

  • Sure. Their wings are good!

  • No, I don’t swing that way. I wouldn’t mind taking my daughter to see the Chipendale Dancers though(she’s an adult, lol)

  • I went there once with my mom and grandma when I was like 10 or something. They have good food (??) Whatever…anyway, NO I would not. Especially if my child was a boy.

  • I thought that kids ate free at all Hooters.  To be honest though, I’ve never really been to Hooters and eaten anything.  So I don’t know if I’d take my kids if I had any because I can’t even take my single self!

  • yup. not that bad of a place. i’m a minor too. :)

  • So this one time at band camp…

We go out to lunch usually by instrument sections.  I’m the only girl in the trombone section.  We went to Hooters.  I didn’t even know what it was until we got there.

    Enough said.

  • First, I would like to say that the people who said a definite “yes” either don’t have kids, or look like they would have worked/ did work in Hooters.

And, to answer the question, there is no way in HELL I would take my child to Hooters. The entire reason Hooters was created was a restaurant for men to look at women with big boobs in tight shirts and small shorts (if you can even call them that). I really don’t want my daughters learning that that’s what women are good for. And I certainly don’t want my sons learning that that’s what men always do (even if it’s true).

  • My parents did. o__O But even as a kid I knew there was something shifty about the place, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it…

xD I probably wouldn’t take my kids to Hooters if I had any, though.

  • Gives my guys the WRONG message about girls.

Uh – that’d be a big ol’ can of  “Hell No!”

  • well from what i understand their food is about the same quality as applebees, so no.

  • I’ve never been to one but I don’t think I’ll ever go there.  What kind of message would you be sending to your kids?  I don’t want to condone the image they’re going for.

  • i dont think it is that bad. the gurls dont dance on table tops or anything.

  • Hooters is an excellent place to teach:

    - your girls that all they have to do is rub their ta-ta’s against someone to get money

    - your boys that for just a little bit of money you can have women rub their intimate parts against you

Now where does that leave us…

  • LOL Uh no. I myself prefer to eat in more…classy/tasteful restaurants. I would never let my children eat at such a place >_>

  • i would. it’s not like they’re aren’t women in skimpy outfits all over tv. I’ve heard that their food is good too. I would like to say that censoring children from things like that is stupid. Anything on tv is worse on that and i would let them watch as many channels as they want (only exculding the porn channel(s) that some satelite tv customers get)

since when has censorship done any good?

  • one of my best memories of my brother-in-law (he committed suicide two years ago this november) is when he took me to the Hooters in Killeen, TX. and it had nothing to do with the waitresses, in fact we joked later that ours were a little lacking for all the hype we’d heard, i mean some of the customers (yes women, straight women-they had boyfriends, like going to hooters too) were easier on the eyes.  like it has been said before, hooters isn’t a nudie bar or even a strip club, they wear tight white shirts and shortshorts and serve really good food, have plenty of tvs for watching just about any sport u want (we probably spent more time watching football than our server).

but really this question is about whether Hooters is the kind of atmosphere i would want to expose my (hypothetical) children to.  while i think it’s fine for younger kids who don’t understand the controversy, i’m not sure i want to bring my pubescent son to oggle at girls and become fixated on women’s appearances, likewise a teenage daughter would be embarassed going somewhere like that, especially in the akward phases of “development”

the restaurants began as just that, mostly catering to working men who wanted to go somewhere to hang out together…and wives will have to admit they’d rather have thier husbands at hooters than the local skin club

  • I would take my kids to Hooters, I see no problem in it. Most of you who seem to have a problem with taking children to Hooters have never really been, you only know what you have been told about the place. Also, I read one response where the person had a problem with fried food and meat. You’ve never been there – how do you know that they dont have salads, I go there and get the grilled chicken salad which is REALLY good by the way. You people have such closed minds it’s insane.

lighten up and open up your minds.

  • Hooters honestly isn’t that bad (but maybe it differs since some people are calling it trashy?)…but I wouldn’t just b/c I don’t like their food.

  • “Hooters.”  Or “boobies.”  Why would anybody take their kid to a place that objectifies women’s bodies like that?

  • My mom took me.

We were on vacation in Virginia. It was me, my mom, my dad, my older brother, my little brother, my aunt, my uncle, and my counsins anna, jess, and ed.

We were hungry and needed food. There was a whole food court and then there was HOOTERS. My cousin Jess was 19 and couldnt care less. My cousin Anna would have eaten anything as long as it was expensive, and restraunt won over food court for her any day. My cousin Ed and my older brother wanted to go for obvious reasons. My little brother didn’t understand what was so exciting about hooters and never noticed that it was all women execpt for the cook in the back. The only one who was actually uncomfortable was me. I have rather large boobs for my age and weight (I’m 14, 91 pounds, and I’m a 36C and counting), and I just felt awkward with all these big boobbed bimbos around me. I know that that isnt exactly fair because they can’t all be dumb, but I would never want to work in a restraunt where boobs are emphasised and acceptably stared at and implants are encouraged.

I wouldn’t take my kids there only because I don’t want to go myself. If I enjoyed it however, I would have no problem taking my kids there while they were young, and even when they were older, esspecially if they were boys! There’s nothing wrong with what that women did.

  • By the way, I’m pretty sure your children aren’t gunna learn such a huge life lesson from one dinner out. If they do, your an awful parent and it would be your fault, not the restraunts/waitresses/boobs fault!

  • I have 3 sons, 16, 18 20, they can go to Hooters for lunch if they’d like, but I’d prefer not to take them! ;)
(Do you really read all your comments??)

  • My mom took me to Hooters a few times when I was a kid… I was too distracted by the little orange owl to realize there were provocatively dressed waitresses.  It wasn’t a big deal, and it definately didn’t scar me for life.

  • =|  my parents took me to hooters.  it was somewhat mortifying yet the food was delicious.  i went to the one in dublin and the service was very laid back and welcoming..

it’s weird how out of all my friends (including the guys), i am the only one that’s actually been there.

  • no, and not because it’s hooters but because I don’t think their food is all that.  ;p  hehe

  • If I was trying to punish my kids I might, the food there sucks!  =D

    Merry Christmas

  • Of course I would. There’s nothing wrong with it. The food’s good and if it was free, even better.

Sure, you have the guys that will go in there and hit on the girls. But you have those kinds of guys everywhere… it just depends on how lightly you take it.

  • lol sure, its free! but wings are pretty gross…

  •  Kids listen up and keep your eyes wide open…this ain’t just a place to eat. Boooooooooya

  • Yup.  Hooters is designed for teenage boys.  The girls are hardly dressed that way to excite a man.

    I like their wings.

  • NO WAY! Of course it would depend on how old the children are I suppose but no matter I deffinitely would not because it’s just plain encouraging a type of life style and way of thinking. And if this sounds weird I wouldn’t mind them going with their friends and not telling me but it would just plain be WEIRD and AWKWARD to go with your mom, don’t you think?

  • Uh..
    No.
Thats a bad influence right there!
