Watch a television show on DVD… something old and funny.
I stay up really late or I lay awake in bed praying.
Continue to roll around until I do fall asleep…
read, surf the internet, lay around doing nothing, and watch tv I do a little bit of everything.
take something to make me drowsy, surf the net, get a snack and watch t.v until it kicks in.
Read. Write. Paint. Talk to friends on-line. I’m a night owl, so I’m up most nights until very late…1 or 2 a.m.
Happy New Year, to you and your family!
Thanks for making my Xanga experience more fun, informative, and enjoyable! You make me think and I like that!
pick at my head and think.
horrible habit really.
go online or study
well, Simple solution but I wouldn’t suggest it very easily.. Use it as a last resort.. Sleeping pills..
this
I end up taking an over the counter sleeping pill!
what i’m doing now. man, i love this weblog! there are updates all the time! i used to go crazy with nothing new to read.
If it were available on DVD, I would watch “I Am Legend”…
Read, write, watch TV, go online, roll around…
Watch tv. Or read.
Read the Bible.
Sudoku or some other number puzzle. If that fails, a CD of Gregorian chant or world flute music. Last resort – which I haven’t resorted to in at least three months – Xanax.
i read posts!
Hellooooo, Xanga! :-p
Kathi
Watch tv.
I get in trouble if I’m roaming the house in the wee hours. :X So what else is there to do?
I’m very excited. It’s with school, but I’ll still be missing so much. Way worth it, though.
I will have to cross that bridge when I come to it…I have trouble staying awake.
A few beers, reading a textbook, or just staying up until the wee hours of the mourning.
It tends to be the last one.
Listen to music and/or daydream.
I usually don’t really have a problem with sleep unless I am upset, anxious or sick with a headache or a cold. When I’m sick a tynenol/benedryll and a cup of hot tea or alcholol usually does the trick. =D
<33
Read.
It makes my eyes tired, and is a quiet activity.
I actually heard somewhere that going on the internet when you need to fall asleep isn’t a good thing. The light off the screen and the interactions on the webpages keep your brain and eyes more awake. (same for the TV)
Speed.
Roll over and wake up Dan.
Read. Or pray.
You’re readin’ it.
If you message me I’ll tell ya, but I don’t feel comfortable answering honestly here.
Sex is a good idea, I’d rather do that to fall asleep.
go online browse browse and browse till my eye feel like closing…
situps
I generally write or read myself to sleep.
Xanga, but if I must need sleep read a book, maybe a textbook. lol.
nothing….i NEVERRRR sleep. but i sleepwalked when i took ambien so…im probably not doing that again.
toss around. keep tossing till my asleep.
This
I thrash around on my bed, turn like halfway (so I’m parallel to the pillows) and just try and fall asleep. If not, I read.
Read, TV keeps me awake
count.
Count to 60 six times. You’ll never make it past time 3.
Think.
-Meditate/ warm milk
Watch TV. Or go on the internet if I don’t have school the next day.
I make up stories in my head, or pretend to be in Econ. Or I get up and watch infomercials.
watch a boring movie
or just count
i xanga.
No one’s said masturbate yet, right? I went through all the other responses and didn’t see it. That’s surprising.
I usually just browse through the internet, and check out random people’s blogs here on Xanga.
reading knocks me out everytime. Or I take pictures.
Enter the twilight zone.
Read
i usually ask other people what they do when they cant fall asleep.
beer myself
Read or watch a movie.
I also count out 100 breaths, that seems to relax me if not send me straight out.
Get on the computer.
I usually lay in bed for a while trying to convince myself to go back to sleep. Sometimes I’ll get up and go downstairs to the kitchen and eat something (these days hunger seems to be a big reason for me to wake up and not be able to go back to sleep) and read from a book or magazine. I try not to use the computer or watch tv, since I’ve read the screen and light can actually wake you up more.
read, write, watch something, surf the ‘net… I do a lot of stuff when I can’t sleep. Which hasn’t happened often… I’ve been in a perpetual state of exhaustion since August!
RYC: I didn’t realize how much I missed Mr. Rogers until I watched those two episodes of the show. I remember it being cheesy or a little condescending (which it was) but at the same time, it was SO good. Dang I miss being a kid.
make a snack, do laundry, look for movies on tv. Then I am up for about 3 or 4 hours then I can crash..
Have a strong drink, masturbate, or take a clonapin.
I surf the internet (like I’m doing now) or play video games. Of course, that’s all I ever do anyway…
Watch T.V., use the computer, read some manga. (That’s like, my life during winter break). I’ve been staying up pretty late lately though, so I don’t have that much trouble falling asleep.
Watch a boring movie until I kick out
Watch tv
apparently i draw cartoons of my friends, coaches, and teachers, seeing as how i’m working off no sleep for the past 60 hours
it’s kind of sad how many of the zany situations and ridiculous diologue actually happened. it may be the lack of sleep, but i think my life as a tv show would be one of those that people insult because it isn’t “real enough”
and i hallucinate slightly. ahh, well
take a benadyl
Take a really hot bath and read.
I get out of bed and read a book. Sometimes I drink some warm milk or Sleepytime tea, but I’m not convinced that it really helps. I do know that tossing and turning in bed rarely results in being able to go back to sleep.
Read… it puts me right out
have sex. Sometimes with myself.
Read, write, surf, play games on the computer, or clean something. Cleaning is usually at the bottom of my “Oh, gee. What should I do now?” list.
I get up and drink a glass of water and maybe get on the internet for a couple of minutes until I feel sleepy.
play on the on the computer
I dont do anything if I cannot fall asleep
If I was living on my own I would blog on Xanga to the small hours in the timezone I am in.
i read my books for school, e.g. biology-related books. But I usually have a hard time falling asleep. *sigh*
Pray.
Have Sex
read, pray, attempt to sleep again, repeat several times, give up and listen to radio quietly enough that it doesn’t wake anyone up.
I try my best to not get up and do things.
But if I have to, I usually read.
Same as annakristine, something old and funny on TV or DVD (usually DVD). In fact I can’t fall asleep without some show playing anymore. I have Golden Girls, Mary Tyler Moore, and Frasier so far, thinking about expanding my collection since I’ve watched all of those to death lol.
read, draw or watch tv
The Hokey Pokie, Dan….works like a charm, after you argue and fight to get it…or maybe that’s just me.
If it’s early enough, I take a Melatonin. I suffer from serious insomnia. If it’s later, I spend some time in prayer.
Go online, listen to music, read a book, drink some herbal tea, watch tv, have sex.
I find my pulsepoint on my neck and keep my finger there. It seems unusual, but it has such a calming effect. And sort of similar to counting sheep. It puts you in a sleep-inducing rhythm… Try it
Sometimes, if I feel like there is a weight on my shoulders, I will get up and pray. That usually clears anything up and I can sleep. If it is from caffeine, food, or who knows what, I will go to the computer or flip channels.
Count backwards by threes from 600. Eventually, it hypnotizes me to sleep.
I get up, and write. . .
it depends on the stage of insomnia though.
Sometimes you have it so bad you CAN’T do anything else. . .besides maybe watch a movie and hope you fall asleep during it.
anything to take your mind off of just lying there. . .
There’s always an SVU rerun on at 2 a.m.
Bake cookies or paint. …Love, Sande
well if I dont take a benadryl (OTC) to help me I try to read a book. Seriously if I pick up a text book I immediately fall asleep …The other night I couldn’t sleep and I picked up Peter Straubb’s “Lost Boy Lost Girl” – let me just say it didnt help I stayed awake and read the WHOLE BOOK ..took me 2 and a half hours but it was worth it.
Sometimes I listen to music or turn on the television…I wish i could just turn my mind off…because my main reason for not sleeping is because I am thinking of everything and nothing
Read and Listen to music.
It’s one or the other, sometimes both. I’ve been having a bad case of insomnia all week and I usually just read till my eyes get tired. However, never read a book you’ve never read before. I made that mistake several times. It’s not a good idea, because once you get to a very good part, you just end up reading and reading until the action has gone down or even worse the book is finished.
Music is good too, but stick to soothing songs. Oh, and never let your ipod randomly pick songs. That was a big mistake, since I ended up silently singing to all the songs until I just fell asleep 5 in the morning.
I have a sound clock, and turn it to crickets, plus I have a sleep med, as I used to have really bad insomnia.
I go on here. LoL
play WoW/surf the web
Listen to Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma. It’s very calming.. and also rather amusing, because the aria is (somewhat) about no one sleeping… haha.
Never had a time when I COULDN’T fall asleep. Not in years. Not since kids arrived.
turn the tv on and watch it in bed.
Not sleep?
go on xanga, read, watch tv, organize things that don’t need to be organized
i either read, draw on my closet, listen to music, go on a cleaning frenzy or try on my clothes to come up with different to wear
different things* to wear. woops
Do rounds around the apartment building, play video games. or watch movies. My wife hates it, ouch!!!!!!!!!
If it’s at night when I am trying to go to sleep, then I just lay there until I eventually fall asleep.
If it’s in the morning when I can’t fall back asleep, I listen to music on my iPod.
5-htp
I get up and watch TV, read, or go on the internet. I also like making myself something hot to drink…feeling warm always helps me relax.
Bleh. I go back to the internet, watch television, lay there until I fall asleep, lay there daydreaming… But if I just lay there, sooner or later I’ll get dizzy. xox;
You mean like tonight? It’s 7AM and I haven’t slept a wink. Well, I listened to some new bands, wrote a little in the blog, jotted down a poem, fed the dog, cleaned house, stared at a dot on the ceiling, got bored with the dot and logged back online.
Usually I listen to music, read a book, or write. I’m not usually up later than 2AM. Tonight was special, I guess.
I read your blog ! hahahah just kidding ! zzzzzzzzzz
keep my eyes closed and hope sleep will happen soon. while tossing and turning.
Pray and read the word until i’m tired….that usually doesn’t take long because the enemy doesn’t want me to do either
Yell at my boyfriend, because OBVIOUSLY it’s his fault.
