War on Satan
I have been out of pocket the last few days but it feels good to be back on xanga. I am in Houston, Texas this week so if you want to get together and have a xanga gathering, send me a message. (You must be 18 or older to come to the xanga gathering).
Here we go:
The Pope has ordered bishops to create exorcism squads.
The squads are in response to the rise of Satanism. The priests will be trained to combat extreme forms of “Godlessness.” The new initiative was revealed by the “exorcistinchief” of the Vatican.
The squads will fight demonic possession. Here is the link: Link
Do you believe in demonic possession?
Comments (97)
Is it just me or does this sound like the plot out of a bad horror movie?
The Exorcist Squad to the rescue! Battling godlessness in all forms! Huzzah!
ha no.
yea but i don’t think they should create squads
HAHAHA
That’s….ill-thought.
What exactly do they plan on doing in these squads? It sounds utterly ridiculous =_=
Lol. No.
i do believe in demon possession but the squads sound a little silly.
Yes. I’ve seen it. But I think the “squads” are a ridiculous idea.
Demons are real.
RYC: Abraham heard God and obeyed. Of course what he did was crazy. It’s what makes walking by faith the hardest thing in the world to do. How can you be sure you’re really hearing from God and not the pepperonis you ate for dinner? I do know that without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God… it’s much easier to be religious and to keep religious rites than it is to live by faith… that’s the problem with Christianity today (and throughout the ages… it’s what started the reformation)… anyhow… just some thoughts on your comment.
I really don’t know. I would be inclined to think it is more fantasy than reality. I think most of the evil is from people who just choose not to be good of their own will.
Mark my words, this has the potential to bring down the Catholic Church. This opens doors to crimes in the name of God, which means lawsuits will bring down the Vatican.
ryc: You are a funny man Dan. A great man indeed. LOL.
Yes, demonic possession does happen, probably not as often as all that but yes it does happen. Actually knowledge of exorcism is something that had been diminishing in the Church, so it’s not a bad idea to create more specialists, particularly in this age of bad being labeled as good, Satanism becoming more mainstream and just another “religion”, etc.
*scoffs* no. until i looked at that picture of the pope. holy shit he looks possessed.
I don’t personally believe in demonic possession because God controls all and protects His children.
So I think the vatican and the pope just made total asses of the catholic church….which pretty much sums up their religion…who the hell prays to the virgin mary? that’s just retarded.
“thou shall have no other Gods but me”
Not really. And lol at porcupinesol‘s comment.
Wait, there are actually people here dumb enough to believe in demonic possession?
Jesus wasn’t dumb.
it’s the vernacular that scares you.
dan reports squads. you think swat. FOOLS.
the pope before him didn’t focus on training on priests in exorcisms. so what happened? they die… leaving few priests who are trained. that’s all he’s calling for – more training.nothing meant to scare you FOOLS. as many of you believe, god exists, and to disregard satan is FOOLish
That has got to be the funniest thing I’ve ever read.
Actually despite my making fun of it earlier, I do. Not that I think is
a very common thing. Nor has the concept been proved to me. I
am not going to disregard something that has been observed for ages and never disproved. If it were only primitive observations of seizures and mental illness, then all the reports of total cures make no sense
The exorcist squad?? sounds more like the MOD SQUAD (thats a movie) …Demonic possessions ..no I dont beleive in it. I think sometimes the brain misfires and it’s result could be entertaining.
by the way the pic of the pope kinda is demonic looking
EEK!!!
Hi, my name is Legion, er….I mean, Miguel.
Yes, but I hadn’t noticed a rise in that sort of thing.
After viewing that photo.. yes.. yes, I do. Yikes!
When it comes to matter of demons, I don’t know what to think. My religion says there are…but society calls them nutheads. I…I have no idea.
Well, yes. I do believe in demon possession. How can you view so many people out there and not see how evident it is that demon possession is highly existent? Crazy.
I do — however, I believe that they look much different than the hollywood portrays them.
having witnessed it firsthand… i don’t think i can deny it…
good one miguel.
Yes. However, it’s difficult to discern what is demon possession and what is simply mental illness.
Yes, and Satan is real as well. Laugh if you want, but be ready to suffer the consequences.
No, of course not. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in some time.
of course i do. and i am quite proud of what the pope is doing
Noppers.
The Exorcism Squad sounds like a spinoff of “Ghost Busters”.
Demon possession isn’t real. There’s evil actions of humans, and there’s mental illness, but no, demon possession doesn’t happen.
totally retarded are you readers who are so easy to pledge their belief in god but refuse the existence of the (d)evil in the world.
Hell no.
Demons don’t exist.
Whoever thinks that isn’t possessed; They’re delusional.
All I will ever believe in is the limitless human capacity for idiocy.
Demonic possession is possible, it says so in the Bible. However, I don’t think a bunch of Catholic priests are the answer, unless they are going to preach the gospel to the possessed people. Once you’re filled with the Holy Spirit there is no room for Satan or demonic possession.
the pope looks scary. and no, I don’t.
Typical
I don’t want to believe in it, so I just call anyone who thinks differently than I do, stupid or delusional.
Intellectual laziness at its finest, masquerading itself as intelligence
yes, and it speaks of it in scripture, which makes movie like the EXORCIST and the EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE all the more terrifying to me.
whats funny is that the new pope looks like senator palpatine (the empoirer) for star wars.. lol. Maybe its jus tthat pic. lol
Daniel (doubledb)
If you ask me, why does the Pope use that particular hand gesture considering he is German after all and he does have a rather demonic look in his eyes himself don’t you think.
Oh well at least all his underlings dress in the appropriate coloured garb for his hand gesture. Does that answer the question.
Having only joined xanga a couple of days ago it’s refreshing to find such an interesting blog so quickly! Have a good Hogmanay and new year when it comes.
no.
while i believe that there are such things as demons, and while i believe that there has been demon possession at one point in time in history (ahem, the bible), i am not so sure about the way of things now. i certainly don’t believe in exorcism. and i most DEFINITELY do not believe that the internet and rock music are bringing about this surge of so-called satanism. i know many christians. i know some pagans. i know a professed satanist. and i have seen no demon possession. i am not saying that it could not happen, because it did. for instance, Jesus once rid people of some demons, sent them into pigs and sent the pigs off a cliff. it says so, in the bible. (no, not going to reference. sorry, don’t have time and not sure where i can find it. in the gospels somewhere.) i believe that satan does his work just as God does His. of course, God always wins. whether or not it is the desired outcome by man, God always wins. at least, that’s what i believe.
but simply cannot put any faith into training more people to perform exorcisms. i think they are dangerous and ill-effective. i think Catholics use demon possession as an excuse of sorts, but my thoughts on that are not fully formulated, so i won’t go into much detail on that one.
but then again, this is yet another topic where depending on religious/moral beliefs/upbringings.
We have a war on Satan now? I didn’t know that. Why aren’t I part of this war? lol. jk. I’m taking a survey. Do you support gay marriage? Why or why not? Please comment back. Comments make me smile.
-Nick
yeah
Can’t wait to see their “outfits”….
Wonder if they can fly too.
I think they could the money for this “squad” for much better things, seriously.
Hey, got a new site going, since the old one got waaaayyyy too weird with some of the people on my list, hehe.
You, you are alright, so, stop by anytime. Got you on my Protected List.
*hugs*
I don’t think I’ve ever been posed a question so ridiculous. I took a moment to laugh, then realized this was serious.
No. Not unless the possessed person is named “Pope Benedict”. This is by far the most wanton and frivolous use of religious resources.
Another important distinction to make is that Satanists don’t necessarily worship Satan. They live by “Satanic” principles such as gluttony and lust… (Of course, some DO worship Satan. I’m just saying not ALL do.)
The only form of possession is the one you inflict upon your own mind. If you allow yourself to be consumed by a god or idol of worship and would do ANYTHING to protect or defend that idol/god, you could be considered “possessed”. But it’s not a supernatural thing concerning demons or evil spirits– it’s a matter of mental health.
I can’t believe that in this day and age that people are stupid enough to believe in this. I thought we left this sort of thing back with scarlet A s emblazoned on the chest and puritanical witch burnings.
I am skeptical of most claims, but I believe it may be possible.
Yeah.. More than I’d like..
It happens.
So ridiculously insane that I actually support this! Bravo!
-David
I think there has been, simply read your Bible. I think since there HAS been, there can still be demon possession. I have to agree about the Pope, he looks a might scary himself. The demon might feel quite at home around him. One thing about the Catholic religion I dislike is how they still have Christ on the cross with their crucifix. Christ is no longer on the cross. The cross is bare and the tomb is EMPTY. All that garb the pope wears is quite sad too, as if that makes him powerful or something. Sorry, I just don’t get Catholics and that part of worship or whatever they call it. I certainly don’t mean any disrespect, but it’s ….well…of the flesh. True worship is in Spirit and truth, not in the garb and jewels we wear. Back to the demon possession…I’m quite sure some of the commentor on here are demon possessed
I think it happens, but I don’t think you need some fancy “squad” to drive them out. And why does the pope always look so creepy?
Typical I don’t want to believe in it, so I just call anyone who thinks differently than I do, stupid or delusional. Intellectual laziness at its finest, masquerading itself as intelligence

Oh my God, that is the best thing….
I’m speechless. I love you.
Loves_Quest: How Christian of you. Hating on Catholics? Is this another Christian “Believe what I believe or you’re ignorant and I’ll hurt you” ploys?
What an ass.
Loves Quest-Catholics do NOT pray to Mary. We ask her to intercede for us, to pray for us. It is just like asking a friend or family member to pray for you. We do hold Mary in reverence as the holiest of women, the one God chose to bring His earthly form, Jesus, to earth. I understand the Catholic view of Mary is often mis-understood, but please do not assert as fact something you obviously do not understand! Thank you!
Every diocese has an exorcist. As EisforEDMUND stated, there has not been a recent focus on training exorcists, so as older priests with this ability pass away new ones need to be trained.
I’m sorry EarthsAzureLight. I am one of those stupid people who believe that demon possession is possible. But I also believe in God and Jesus Christ as presented in the Bible. We’ve discussed these things before. I feel bad that you think everyone who believes this way is stupid. Consider us foolish, uninformed, confused or whatever. However, many of us have better than average intelligence. You may consider me stupid and I may be in some ways. However, your saying it does not make it so. We’ll just have to agree to disagree–again. Blessings to you anyway, Frank.
Happy New Year and blessings to all who read this.
Of course….haven’t you watched THE VIEW on tv????
Yes, I do.
Houston? Not close enough. But, I have a lot of Texas Xanga buddies I’d love to visit.
Happy New Year!
The problem with possession is that in the old days, the “possessed” were actually simply insane people, schizophrenics and the like. And now that we’ve diagnosed them medically as having mental disorders resulting from either genetics or environment, how can anyone say that there are still possessed people in the world? How are you to suppose that – granted we have a person who is crazy about Satan - they aren’t just insane with a particular delusion of being controlled by Satan?
-David
I believe in demonic possession, and I wish the Vatican and the Pope, like his predecessors, would keep this on the down low. All the Pope has done is bring public ridicule to a real problem among those who believe.
Its this very reason we should call on Buffy the vampire slayer.
yes.
at least he didn’t smile too much in that picture.
Just the idea is absolutely medieval and horrifying. It returns humanity to the Dark Ages, the Inquisition and the Malleus Maleficorum. (Just pick one-they all reeked of ignorance and fear.) The more I observe the extreme madness passed off in the name of god, the more I come to view religion as inherently evil.
It makes you wonder what the college of Cardinals were smoking when they elected this guy pope.
<li class=”itemsubmitter”>porcupinesol said what I was going to say…The pope looks possessed.
Okay, this is the second time you’ve written about this and again, all I can do is laugh out loud. This is too funny.
jberg: You’re great =) Thank you for clearing up Catholicism; though I am not Catholic myself, I often see how people misunderstand the Catholic faith.
I’m sorry., but this just makes him sound plain ole crazy.
As of right now…it don’t think the possibility is to likely. Would never qualify it as a complete impossibility though.
yes
Ok, so let’s pretend for a second that demonic possession really doesn’t exist. When someone tells a “demon” to leave a person, using the name of Jesus, and after a painful experience the person no longer has self-destructive tendencies and feels free from some kind of bondage, that’s just the brain’s “misfirings” randomly being corrected, and it just so happens to be at the same time that a Christian tells the supposed “demon” to go away…
THAT IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! Yes, that does happen and demons do exists.
Have any of you who have answered “No, demons don’t exist” actually seen an “exorcism”? There is power in the name of Jesus. GO EDUCATE YOURSELVES, before answering about something you know nothing about.
Do you think they’ll get to wear cool uniforms?
i do believe in demon posession although it’s very rare. but exorcist squads?! this is ridiculous. sounds like a bad parody of ghostbusters to me.
I don’t know if I necessarily believe in the stereotype of a “demon” but I believe there can be good and evil spirits in the world. I do believe they can be exorcised for lack of a better word. Possibly not even that they are good or evil spirits as opposed to spirits who are not going to leave Earth and are stuck in a kind of limbo.
I think it’s a big part of the occult that I am not comfortable with though and maybe that uncomfortable part of me thinks it is real. I dunno.
Demons are not real. Satanism is not about demons. I personally enjoy the light refreshing taste of holy water and can’t wait to come into contact with the lastest lunatic encouraged by the catholic church.
I do, but creating “exorcism squads” is just stupid. Plus, the Pope himself is probably possessed. Just look at that picture.
Demonic possession was real in the times of Christ, but not anymore.
Dan what do you think ??
The Pope is supposed to be a Serious Guy- he is going to look like a laughing -stock !
I am unsure I believe in Demonic possesion.
If this is supposed to be taken seriously I guess we are approching the ‘End Times’ ?
????????????????????
Yes I do.
Yes.

This is the testimony of a former Satanist, now a Christian. He tells of his firsthand experience summoning demons, and things of that sort.
So yes, I believe in demonic possession. And y’all better get saved, because Jesus is the only one that can protect you from it, which is supported by this former Satanists claims.
Amen.
An incarnate of Ghostbusters?
And the pope does look slightly demonic, so this might actually turn quite comedic if the squads go after him.
Being as I’ve never come in contact with a Demon ( I suppose I should feel blessed) and I’ve never witnessed a demonic possession for myself, I’d have to decline to believe in them because the majority of those reported can be explained by psychological disorders or other medical phenomenon of some kind.
There isn’t a doubt in my mind that they COULD exist because there certainly is a lot of evil in the world, and crazy shit like miracles happen all the time… I’m just yet to see credible evidence.
I don’t believe in ghosts either =3
I do indeed believe in demonic possession. I have, in my lifetime met 3 people(so far) that I believed either are or were possessed. One was a young man in a psychiatric hospital, one was a man who was one of my sisters bf. I told her to get rid of him, and she didn’t listen, and he freaked one night and stabbed my sister and neice, and the last one is Harold, a homeless man I know.
What a pickture uf da pop….
o noez!!! mine keyboard is being possess3d by a 13 yr old girl…lol!!!1!!
yea, but i don’t believe in the pope or the catholic faith.
I was undecided until I saw the Pope’s photo. My answer: YES!
Hm. That’s interesting. Yes I do…although they’re going to get a lot of laughs for this. I wonder if it will have any effectiveness.
Sure ! Didn’t you see the omen I and many more factual movies indicating it so…
Ya, seriously I do !
i dont believe in demonic posession… i’ve witnessed and heard about situations that concern a person believing they have something, so they act it out as if they truly are suffering from something when in fact they are fine… i believe the same thing to be true with posession… i’ve read article and seen documentaries on these types of situations… it’s amazing what the human mind can create when a person is persuaded by something….
just an interesting thing some of you should know… for those of you who believe in these stories that are told to be true of demonic possessions:
a) for many years, one of the most famous true stories of demons existing was known in THE AMITYVILLE HORROR…. yes, so many people believed it for sooooo long…. but recently, information was released telling the public that the story of the amityville house was truly just a hoax… that in fact the house was not haunted, but that the family and the lawyer that represented the family came up with the story for money purposes… The Lawyer and one of the Family Members had come forward to confess the lies that had been told for so many years….
b) The directors who have made these horror films of demonic possessions have in fact claimed that they emphasized the situations and the scenes to make them much scarier… in truth, the possessed do not change facial colors or look different, they do not levetate… pretty much, they speak in tongues and look like they are having a seizure (which by the way was often mistaken as a demonic possession as well).
Yes, I also believe that the current pope is the most naturally scary looking person alive. There are scarier people in movies, but the are in make-up to look scary on purpose. This guy just looks like that!
I can’t answer that question with a positive or a negative because I have yet to examine the evidence for myself.
The Catholic church is a conservative institution and Benedict has been described as reactionary pope but I admit I was still surprised by the military approach he’s taking. That said he headed the inquisition (they have a fancier name than that) and he does have ties with Opus Dei.
