But I don’t really celebrate New Years. I was in a movie at midnight tonight and was more irritated than anything else when someone stood up at 12:00 and yelled “Happy New Years!” It’s not like it’s a real holiday. Just marking the passing of time.
Sometimes things are so built up from culture and society there is a pressure to make it all it really is.
I have conquered New Year. It used to be my anti-holiday in my angry hermit years. I would ignore calls and invitations and stay in, and every time the clock hit 12 I would snarl to myself.
For the past three years I have rung in the New Year in bigger and more spectacular ways. This year was hands down the most mindblowing sensory overload I could have heaped on myself.
The next anti-holiday to conquer?
Halloween. I wouldn’t celebrate that either.
