  • You Must Not Commit Adultery

I read a comment from my last post where the commenter felt she had not committed adultery.  So I messaged her and asked her if we could discuss her situation.  Here is what happened:

“My ex-husband repeatedly cheated on me and I had no clue until I found out in a really horrible way that I generally don’t elaborate on. The state of Louisiana makes you wait like 6 months or so to get divorced, but with the way things drag out with lawyers and such, it ended up being nearly a year.

I felt ready to date, and after some soul searching, I decided that I didn’t need a piece of paper to tell me that my marriage had ended and that God knew the circumstances as well as I did. So I don’t consider myself to be an adulteress because my marriage was over before I started seeing other people, even if the paperwork hadn’t gone through.”

Do you think it is adultery in the eyes of God if the marriage is basically over?

  • Ten Commandments

    1. You shall have no other Gods but me.
    2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
    3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
    4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
    5. Respect your father and mother.
    6. You must not kill.
    7. You must not commit adultery.
    8. You must not steal.
    9. You must not give false evidence against your neighbor.
    10. You must not be envious of your neighbor’s goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor.

How many of the Ten Commandments have you broken?

  • Hate

Presidential candidate John McCain has “refused to apologize yesterday for his use of a racial slur to condemn the North Vietnamese prison guard who tortured and held him captive during the war.”

John McCain said, “I hate the gooks.  I will hate them as long as I live.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think it is healthy to have a person or people in your life that you will hate as long as you live?

  • Mom and Dad

Teachers in the UK are being taught to avoid terms like “mum and dad” in order to avoid “anti-gay bullying in schools.”

Teachers are being instructed to follow certain guidelines:

“Teachers should attempt to avoid assumptions that pupils will have a conventional family background.”

“It goes on to suggest the word ‘parents’ may be more appropriate than ‘mum and dad,’ particularly in letters and emails to the child’s home.”

“When discussing marriage with secondary pupils, teachers should also educate pupils about civil partnerships and gay adoption rights.”

“It states that children who call classmates ‘gay’ should be treated the same as racists as part of a ‘zero tolerance’ crackdown on the use of the word as an insult.”

“Teachers should avoid telling boys to ‘be a man’ or accuse them of behaving like a ‘bunch of women.’”  Here is the link:  Link

We will focus on the last quote.

Is it wrong to tell a boy to “be a man?”

  • Fractions

An award-winning professor of mathematics believes that fractions should be scrapped.

University of Pennsylvania math professor dennis DeTurck says fractions are 'as obsolete as roman numerals.'

He said, “Fractions have had their day, being useful for by-hand calculation.  But in this digital age, they’re as obsolete as Roman numerals are.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think there is any value in learning fractions in this day and age?

  • Rebate Checks for Illegal Immigrants

The House passed a measure for a great portion of the population to get a rebate check from the government.  One issue that came to light was that rebate checks would be given to illegal immigrants who were paying taxes.

The Senate has passed is fixing that by making it so illegal immigrants will not get a rebate check.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think that illegal immigrants should get a rebate if they pay taxes?

  • International Delete Your Myspace Account Day

Last week I mentioned on my site that today is International Delete Your Myspace Account Day.

The MySpace home page is seen in a screen grab. (www.myspace.com/Reuters) ...

Today I have had two people contact me telling me that they deleted their myspace accounts and to not forget that today is the day.

Should I feel guilty that people deleted their account when I had no intention on deleting mine?

  • Drug Use and Pregnancy

Theresa Hernandez used methamphetamine while pregnant.  (This issue was sent to me by Mightymarce).

Her baby was born stillborn.  She is being charged with first-degree murder and she faces “the possibility of life imprisonment.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think Theresa should face charges for taking drugs while pregnant?

  • Large Breasts Discrimination

British women have won an important battle in the fight for large breasts equality.

    Bra chain record attempt

The second largest food retailer that is owned by Wal-Mart, will “no longer charge women more for bigger bras in its George fashion range.”

Now all bras will be the same price whether the bra is an A cup or a F Cup.  Here is the link:  Link  (Many of you know that I have fought for large breasts equality for 36 years).

Do you think a woman should have to pay more money for a bra just because she has larger breasts?

  • Glasses and Hotness

I was reading Arian’s site and she was writing about embracing the idea of wearing glasses.

    She wrote:

“I have new glasses. They are square, nerdy, and big. They are very unlike any other glasses I had, all of which I chose because they made me seem like I wasn’t wearing any glasses at all.

Why the change? This is a bit of a stupid reason, but hey, I’ll say it. I was once watching this fashion show, and this woman hated her glasses. We live in a society in which glasses are rarely, if ever, deemed hot, but these fashion experts on the show said something that stuck to me ‘If you’re gonna wear glasses, WEAR’EM. Be proud of them, make them bold and let everyone know they’re there.’ It may not seem like a big reason, but that one thing they said made me realize that yes, I should be proud of my glasses, and no, I shouldn’t hide them. That was like four years back. All this time, I’ve been too afraid, insecure about my appearance to buy myself some bold glasses.

But now I did. I took the plunge. And guess what? I think I look beautiful in them!”

“The more I grow up, the less self-conscious I become. I don’t care anymore if I’m blond and tall and thin like all girls are told to me.”

“With, or without them. I’m not going to beat myself up over my appearance anymore. I don’t even wear that much makeup anymore… there’s much more important things in life than looking pretty.”

Have you ever been concerned that by wearing glasses you would make yourself less attractive?
