President Hillary Clinton and the Race Card
I believe Hillary Clinton is going to beat Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic nomination.
I believe that Hillary and Bill Clinton are using race to beat Barack Obama. How are they using race to beat Barack Obama? They are reminding you that Obama is black.

A short time ago, Barack Obama won the Iowa Caucus. Iowa is a state where 93% of the people are white. Immediately the media picked up on the idea that people were able to look past the fact that Obama was black. He would be like Oprah or Michael Jordan. He would step above race.
But then Bill and Hillary decided to point out that Barack was black. The strategy wasn’t subtle. They raised issues that highlighted that Obama was black.
Hillary Clinton made a comment about Martin Luther King. She said, “Dr King’s dream began to be realized when President Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It took a president to get it done.” Here is the link: Link This has been reported as a mistake on her part. I don’t believe it was a mistake. I think she did it on purpose. I think she was raising the race issue on purpose.
Bill Clinton predicted that Obama would do well in South Carolina because of the race issue. He said, “They are getting votes, to be sure, because of their race or gender. That’s why people tell me Hillary doesn’t have a chance of winning here.” Here is the link: Link In fact, Bill Clinton projected that Obama would win the South Carolina primary and suggested it was related to the racial makeup of the state.
Bill and Hillary have as a strategy to turn Barack Obama into the black candidate. A campaign manager of Hillary suggested that Obama would get labeled as the black candidate: “Clinton campaign strategists denied any intentional effort to stir the racial debate. But they said they believe the fallout has had the effect of branding Obama as ‘the black candidate,’ a tag that could hurt him outside the South.” Here is the link: Link
Do you see what the campaign strategists is doing? She is making a suggestion that Bill and Hillary have been making all along. It will be subtle but they think there is advantages to having Obama looked at as the black candidate.
Obama was winning in the polls going into South Carolina and the Clinton’s needed to make an excuse in advance of why Hillary would lose.
Notice a statement of Bill Clinton after the South Carolina contest. Bill Clinton compared Barack Obama to Jesse Jackson. Bill said, “Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in ’84 and ’88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here.” Here is the link: Link
So what were the headlines coming out of South Carolina? “Strong black vote lifts Obama over Clinton in S.C.” Here is the link: Link
I want you to watch Bill Clinton and Hillary very closely. I want you to watch how many times they make references indirectly or directly to Obama’s race.
The media played right into Bill and Hillary’s plan. They are discussing race. What the media should be doing is asking whether it was appropriate for Bill and Hillary to raise the issue in the first place.
I believe that Hillary will win the nomination and I believe that neither Bill nor Hillary is a racist. I think they will simply do whatever it takes to win.

I hate Dan.
The man always trying to bring a brotha down.
I believe you might be right. They aren’t racist. They despise everyone equally.
Your going to make me think about his aren’t you… ya big meanie!
this… blah.
I can’t type, much less think… see I’m dangerous.
I asked a friend once if he cheated on a game..his reply “just enough to win” that’s all it takes.
You’ve made a very good case. I believe you are 100% right.
I don’t know if the country is savvy enough to catch on to this and not be taken in by the strategy. Like you, I am not hopeful.
What you say seems valid. I understand why she is doing it, but seeing as I’m not a Hilary fan to begin with, it makes me dislike her more.
I believe you are right. Hillary will do anything to win. And I think it is sick that she would stoop so low as to this. But I shouldn’t be surprised, right? She’s a Clinton after all.
Good insight dan, i agree 100%
Why would you depress me like that.
Life is a bitch, why would you vote for one?
I’m movng to Canada if she’s elected, and I can think of fifteen people off the top of my head who would go with me. Any other takers? Let’s make it a moving party.
and i bet hilary is feeling pretty nervous about the election as to going so low to bring up race, ya think?
You stole this from FOX News, noob.
This is exactly what my said.
Tthey know how to manipulatethe press and the mainstream public.
Only Bill could change the definition of a blow job .
Man dude, I’ve never seen that long of a post from you! Took me forever to read it.
I have to agree with you too. It sad that it has to be a power grab. Shame the candidates can’t just say, this is what I believe will be best for the country and let the majority decide. Why do they want power so bad they do ANYTHING to get it. Whatever happened to SERVING the people and not ruling over them with this power.
@Desinflan - Ah Yes, Fox News, the ONLY reliable source for News….and RUSH LIMBAUGH.
I KNOW that chaps yer hide!
Very astute observations (assuming that Desinflan is incorrect about you stealing this from fox news).
Also, this is very different from your normal posts. You generally don’t propose theories and push them onto people… not like this anyways. The uniqueness of this post makes me wonder if you are going in a different direction with your xanga postings (this is the “benefit of the doubt” assumption) or if you’re seriously trying to influence and bias your readers a certain way by using your clout (this would be the more cynical view of things.)
This could potentially raise some moral questions about the use of your xanga space. It used to be a place for open discussion… but it can very easily be turned into a forum to sway your readers a certain way. Depending on how people view your site, this can be considered immoral or a betrayal of trust… ultimately because you are now expressing a bias on a site that presents itself as being unbiased.
Using the race card or anything to get ahead in the race.. hmm I’m not surprise..
I disagree. They’re not simply calling attention to his race. They’re calling attention to his record on race – and contrasting it with their own. If you did steal this from FOX, I’m not surprised that they entirely missed the point… way to go Obama for boycotting their network!
@seedsower - “Only Bill could change the definition of a blow job.”
Only a very power-drunk Right could change the definition of Impeachable Offense.
I agree with you that Bill and Hillary will do whatever it takes to win. This is exactly why they will lose, if not in the primary, in the general election. I do have hope that Obama will win the primary, not because I like him at all, but it would be nice to keep the Clintons without a chance of returning to the White House.
Sad to say that I think Dan is right: they will do anything they think will help them win. A campaign will never use a persona like Bill Clinton without carefully crafting the statements he makes for greatest desired effect. While he appears to be complimenting Obama on running a good campaign, he is at the same time planting the race seed in people’s mind. Especially by comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson, who is disliked by many for his abbrasive style.
People should be focusing on the ideas and messages of the candidates, as well as the qualifications of the candidates.
But I have another question rolling around in my mind. Can Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama win the national election, or will there be too much prejudice against a female or black president? A couple of years ago I thought that there is no Republican who could win the presidency after 8 years of Bush and all the lobbying scandals that the Republicans have been deep into. However, if the US voters are not ready for a female or black president, the election may go – undeservedly – to a republican candidate.
By the way, is it true that Bill is a 33 degree freemason? That Hillary is also involved with masons?
well, what part of what they say isn’t true?
I believe Hil will lose, for reasons beyond race. But I do think the Clintons and their team are phenomenal at suggestion, charisma, and PR. What’s Chelsea up to these days? Haven’t heard much during the campaign…
It seems to me the only Republican candidate in the mix right now that could win a national election is John McCain, but personally I did not like his so called campaign finance reform that only really effected the democrats and did nothing to prevent the lobbying abuses republicans were neck deep into and that probably are still going on to a great extent.
Well, you actually stole this from Dick Morris.
i disagree that Clinton will win. Obama is doing proportionally way better with white people than most will admit. South Carolina can’t really be used as a representative state cuz…well…a lot of people there have necks redder than Krypton’s sun (no offense to any Carolinian’s out there). Obama’s race will matter much less in the office of president than Clinton’s gender will, and many intelligent people will pick up on that as time goes on. (example: how willing do you think the Arab leaders will be to negotiate anything with a *woman*? sorry but it’s reality…)
nice post tho…longer’s always better
Too bad Obama will never paint Hillary as the “bitch candidate” (which I happen to think she totally is) in retaliation. Then again, the fact that he seems above that kind of dirty strategy is why I like him.
I would certainly put none of what you said past Hillary & Bill. However, I can only hope you’re wrong about it working. Because this Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton dynasty bullshit needs to stop.
@JimiRy - The impeachable offence was LIEING under oathe, not just the fact he used the oval office as a sex parlor. HE LIED UNDER OATHE.And he was a president that did this. Why can’t people get that.
It just seems like this big political machine that will do whatever it takes.
Good to know, good to know.
I am wondering what happened to all the Repub candidates in the media, not that I’m complaining about their absence, in fact, I could get used to it!
Isn’t everyone racist by today’s standards?
I was just thinking….didn’t even hurt myself either
wouldn’t a Romney/Huckabee ticket be interesting. I’d still like to see Huckabee/Thompson. Republicans are going to win reguardless.
@UnworthyofHisgrace - Perhaps I should have made myself more clear: It’s despicable that his personal life became something he had to go on trial about. I’m not saying he was a great man or president, or that his behavior during the trial/impeachment wasn’t embarrassing, but the fact remains: they were looking for any excuse to try to get rid of him, and they latched onto whatever they could. This is politics – dirty assholes, left or right, trying to ruin each other. I find it odd that Clinton was impeached for lying about that, and meanwhile, President Bush is still in office – after having lied about more important things, ON NINE HUNDRED SOME SEPARATE OCCASIONS.
This was an irony I was attempting to convey.

@hello_insanity -
“bitch candidate.”
lulz.
SARCASM! I can’t believe you pull that one on your fans!
Damn it, Dan, if you are right I am going to punch you in the face!
Stupid Hillary >=(.
God I wish Obama will win the Dem nomination.
I like it when you write about issues like this.
You’ve raised an interesting point… and I’ll be paying more attention that facet of the campaigning now.
As much as we white folk hate black people, we hate women empowerment even more.
I believe that you are absolutely correct.
ANYONE going into this election and not knowing that “The Clinton’s” wouldn’t do, or be, or say, anything to win has not studied their history. We haven’t seen anything yet. Just wait until it comes down to the wire.
On a completely unrelated note, Dan, I just made the mistake of reading my local newspaper’s comics page and I think you should make a post on how any semblance of humor and originality left the comics page years ago.
@UnworthyofHisgrace -
Yes, because setting a precedent of removing a president for political reasons is SUCH A GOOD IDEA. Setting that precedent at all is a bad idea. Ever heard about the reasoning of the guy who tipped the vote against convicting Johnson?
Maybe Clinton did lie, but the whole fiasco still had more to do with politics than anyone caring where Clinton’s cock had been and whether or not he was lying about it. No one should have been asking him those questions in the first place.
Okay. So off topic. Sorry.
Oops! “The Clintons” was how it should read.
@Aslans_daughter -
not to mention “would” rather than “wouldn’t.”
Sorry! I don’t mean to be rude. I just can’t help myself. You know. That sort of thing… have a lovely evening.
Hm, I like your new opinion posts.
And I think you’re entirely right.
Politics (and government!!!) are evil.
@JimiRy - With me, it never fails. My thinking is that if someone can make out what my thoughts were, I have succeeded. Thanks! Have a good night!
I’m glad that they are turning on each other. I hope they are both destroyed.
You know, all this race business is exactly why America has the issues it does. I hate the media for continually bringing up race and using it to pit Americans against each other. Why must we be a salad and not a melting pot? We’d taste much better.
“I don’t know if the country is savvy enough to catch on to this and not be taken in by the strategy.”
It isn’t, it’ll be sucked in, like matter sucked into a black hole.
Well, some of it will anyway, there are people out there who can see what the clintons are doing.
But one question that just came to mind is this, is America more ignorant of the other candidates actions (good or bad) because they want to see what evil plans the clintons are trying to bring about? People who want attention will try to get it one way or another.
very interesting post dan, i love the thought that went into this. need more like it. i myself dont really care. not because im an apathetic jerk, but because im not voting for a democrat no matter which it is, so it doesnt matter to me who wins. given the lack of decent choices in my party i think im going to go independant this time around. i just hope that doesnt help a dem into office. but if it does have to be, im hoping its not clinton
oh and to clarify my comment, im not saying that im not an apathetic jerk, just that that is not the reason i dont care about this particular issue.
Well, maybe Huckabee isn’t so bad after all
If that’s the case, and I’m not doubting that it is, because race is obviously still an issue in this country or people wouldn’t be so excited about the fact that there were two candidates in the Democratic race that weren’t white, then I hope that Hillary does not get the nomination because she’s narrow minded.
We don’t need a narrow minded President in a time when we’re dealing with people abroad who have different views than that of our own. We have to have a firm one, yes, but not a narrow minded one.
@CoffeeRevolutionary -
Oh, but he is. Very much so.
I like this style of blogging. It’s more thought provoking and you get to argue the entry now. ^_^
In response to the entry: When I first saw the 2 democratic candidates, my first impression was – Oh, a female candidate and a black candidate! New options to choose from. I thought that most of the public would see that too. I don’t think that the Clintons need to point this out because people probably have been labeling the candidates this way. Hillary is a woman because she cries in front of the public. Barack is black, well because he has colored skin.
As for the Clintons, I’m not sure why they are being bashed for using strategy to win the elections. Don’t all candidates do that? Everyone wants to win and will cry, use money, pull the race card, do whatever to make it to the top. It’s politics. Politics was always dirty, regardless of who the person is.
@JimiRy - I’m a Rush Limbaugh fan, but I think this is one of the times he’s wrong about something. Don’t think he is right about Huckabee. I think Huckabee is just what America needs
Dan, you totally stole this idea. I’ve read this theory in at least 5 different articles. This is nothing new to anyone who keeps up with the news.
Either or, it’s going to be a tight race, but I think that Hillary and her politics are going to split the democrat vote in half. If she wins the vote, then I know a ton of dems that are going to vote republican (as long as it is not Huckabee). Obama has enough charisma that Hillary fans would vote for him if it comes down to it.
I just wish Edwards would get some attention. To me, he is the best for the job.
The fact that you or anyone can formulate this thought and the fact that there might be even a grain of truth to it is pretty much as succinct an explanation of what is wrong with race relations in America today that I can think of.
Which is precisely why I refuse to vote for her… Conniving, sneaky and so entrenched in Washington politics it’s ridiculous. Also, I don’t want Bill Clinton, the 3rd term by proxy.
I’m all for Obama.
Hilary can win the nomination, but, in the end, she can’t win the Presidency. Obama, I think, would have a good shot at being elected if he were the nominee. Sadly, though, I have a feeling it’s going to be Hilary. I’m a Democrat…but if it comes down to Hilary, I’m not voting for her.
Astute observation – they know and play the game with skill.
Mad skillz
First off – the Clintons practically run the media.
They just read someone’s email on Fox this evening in regards to Obama. The commenter said that she had seen Obama as a man running for president, who happened to be black. That was until, Oprah started endorsing for him. After that she saw him as a black man running for president. She then changed her mind, because, it seemed that the race card was being played by Oprah with Obama following suit.
The media, the Obama campaign managers, and you (if you are serious) are simply overreacting. I hate hilary, but I don’t think she is using race as a major campaign strategy at all. For either of them to bring up race is more detrimental to themselves then it is helpful.
My husband is beyond himself disgusted by the Clintons right now, especially Bill. He cannot believe that they’re bringing up the race card with Obama, and that they’re fighting dirty like this already… against a member of their own party. As you said, doing anything to win no matter what it takes. I wasn’t sure what to think of it, but then the quote from Bill of comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson came out, and I see no reason for that other than to create a soundbite. Especially as a former president Bill should be elevating the political discourse, not bringing it down for his wife’s sake.
He’s already said that if Hillary wins the democratic nomination he may vote republican instead. I don’t know what I’ll do…
Apparently there’s been polls recently saying that Americans will vote for “a democrat” over “a republican” but if you ask them about specific candidates most people actually said they’d vote for almost any of the republican candidates over Hillary Clinton. I found that interesting.
I believe everything you said as well. But I still support Hil and Bill and I’d probably do the same thing if it was me running. They’re not racists, they’re smart and savvy.
“I think they will simply do whatever it takes to win.”
Too true!
I’m so hoping, wishing and praying that Clinton loses. I can’t stand her. I really don’t want another Clinton adminstration.
i think you’re right. but bill and hilary are going to look bad for doing this.
Obama is black?
I completely agree… I don’t think they are racists but I also don’t agree with the fact that they tear down someone’s race just to win! I mean politics has always been dirty but this is an all time low! What are they teaching the kids of America; to beat down someone else’s race just to win? If her goal is just to win the race than I’d rather not vote for her. That and her antics. She should be nervous as the Kennedys are endorsing Obama. My hometown newspaper is also endorsing Obama (San Francisco is my hometown). Perhaps she should take a good look at herself now. It’s one thing to not play fair but its another to play dirty.
Shows their true character doesn’t it? That they’re willing to stoop to ignorance to win. Its just as bad as racism.
Mr. Theologian,
I love your posts but none of them are really personal writings about your life and your views on things. It would be nice every now and then to get your views on things. I also have a few questions.
Are you Republican or Democrat and who do you want to vote for and why?
I’m sorry, but I can’t watch the Clintons closely……I will get queasy.
Dan..why is this a surprise to anyone?
Do I want a president who will do anything to win? sickening. I pray and am working to get a president who cares about what is right and about other people, and can solicit many professional and “regular” educated opinions and who can create a team to help our country stay true to our values/ and thus prosper and give blessings to others as well.
(I will admit right now, I didn’t read your whole post. Instead of a proper comment, I will spew my ideas.)
The other night I was sitting at dinner talking about the Presidential race with my parents. They said the Obama will not win because of his race, and the fact that his last name sounds like Osama. They also said that Clinton will not win because she is a woman. That leaves the “few screws short of an Ikea bookshelf” candidades for the Republicans. I do not fully endorse any of them. I think they’re all nuts. If we were to have a blind ballot, where you only had a list of the candidates ideas and preferences, I think Obama would win.
I hate politics for this very reason!
It takes a lot of guts from a white guy to admit that Hillary is acting racist and yet is not racist.
