John McCain is about to secure the Republican nomination for President.
There is only one little problem. He wasn’t born in the U.S.
According to Section 1 of Article II of the Constitution the president of the United States must be a “natural born Citizen:”
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.” Here is the link: Link
John McCain was born on a military installation in the Canal Zone. His dad was in the Navy. Here is the link: Link
Military kids born overseas are U.S. citizens. But the Constitution clearly states the person must be a “natural born Citizen.”
Do you think John McCain qualifies as a ”natural born citizen?”
