Here are the movies that are nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Picture:”
1. Atonement
2. Juno
3. Michael Clayton
4. No Country for Old Men
5. There will be blood.
Which movie do you think deserves the award?

blood
Um. Maybe Atonement. I haven’t seen it, though, but I want to.
I haven’t seen any of those movies! I feel so ‘living under a rock’! Damn.
~M.E.
I liked No Country for Old Men. Haven’t seen the others.
Atonement or Juno, they were pretty good movies :]
atonement. although I didn’t see no country for old men, I heard it was pretty good. but atonement was really just… fantastic.
not juno though, not juno!
No Country for Old Men
Atonement sucked
Juno or There WIll Be Blood
No Country For Old Men was amazing. The Coen Brothers managed to make yet another kick-ass movie.
Juno is extremely overrated. It was witty at times, but all the OH MY GOD THIS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING TOUCHING AND HEARTBREAKINGLY CLEVER bullshit is just that, total bullshit. It’s basically any exercise in unrealistic attempts at upbeat wordplay wrapped around a rather trite story.
There Will Be Blood was good, but not so good as No Country.
Never heard of none of them so using a random mehod
I have picked number 4.
Hopefully not any of the first 3.
Blood, or Old Country
No Country for Old Men
Atonement could have been better,it had the potential but it lagged.
Oh my… I need to get busy watching some movies- I have not seen any of those!
@CoffeeRevolutionary - You said it!!
The only one I saw was Juno, and I really liked it, so I vote for that one!
I’ve only seen Atonement and Juno. I think I liked Juno best of the two.
I haven’t seen any of them, but from what I’ve heard, Juno is good.
No Country for Old Men.
NCFOM.
I only saw Juno and Michael Clayton, so of the two I’d say Juno. A friend saw all 5, and she says Juno. I can’t totally make a call on it from seeing two though. Guess I’ll find out in a few hours….
i would love to see juno win!
I havne’t seen any of them. Except for like 3 minutes of Atonment on youtube.
I didn’t watch any of those.
Which ones would you pick?
I didn’t see any of them but a ton of people liked Juno.
After a great rookie year Michael Clayton was such a disappointment. Don’t bother drafting him.
Oh wait. We’re not talking fantasy football here, are we?
Juno, hell yes
Juno.
none of them especially impresed me, to be honest. It was a disappointing year for movies.
atonement!! i also thought juno was adorable but atonement deserves it more, imho
The only one I bothered to see should win.
The only one of those that I saw was Juno. It was alright.
Juno =O
Juno.
I thought Juno was really cute.
I also enjoyed atonement-especially the effects(lighting, sound, camera angles), but i didn’t enjoy the ending.
I haven’t seen the other ones, but i want to!
Out of those two though, I’d say Juno. Plus, it gives my home-state a little fame! Woo Minnesota!
Given that I haven’t seen any of them….
Juno.
I don’t care.
“There will be blood”, it is every bit as good as “No Country for Old Men” I think it is a little better. Ether one of those two movies would be fine with me. Any other choice and I will doubt the good taste of the academy awards
No Country for Old Men
Why don’t the MET broadcasts count for Oscars? It’s simply not fair.
@hebchill:
I like how your response could be interpreted as a veiled threat. Very clever, if unintentional.
NCFOM was a brilliant ensemble effort — every performance, down to the smallest supporting role, was a gem. Loved it, need to see it again.
no country
blood as runner up
There will be blood.
haven’t seen any of them…my favorite movie of last year was probably “Ratatouille”…
<8
juno was just so refreshingly simple, i absolutely loved it…but i haven’t seen any of the other nominees so i can’t really say!
I only saw Juno. It was pretty awesome but from what I hear about the others, one of them probably deserves it more.
No Country For Old Men.
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, but of course I am BIASED since I live in TEXAS where the movie was filmed.
Anything with ol’ D-Day Lewis should win everything.
I really can’t make a judgment because I’ve only seen Atonement and Juno, but I’ll hazard a guess that Atonement gets it.
I don’t know…I haven’t seen any of them!
Juno is the only decent flick out of the group. Ellen Paige is amazing and I want her to have my babies. That and she even looked smokin’ hot while “pregnant”. Double plus good
THERE WILL BE BLOOD, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, A THOUSAND TIMES THERE WILL BE BLOOD!
But some other movie will probably get it…
No Country, no contest.
#1
Atonement!
Those are all really good movies.
juno =)
Deserves the award, JUNO.
who will win, probably No Country for Old Men
Um….none of them……they all suck! Well they maybe good just none of them I would ever see. *goes back to watching Transformers for the 15th time*
the only one i’ve seen is atonement. and it sucked.
The Academy Awards only nominates around two movies I like a year, so… meh.
No Country for Old Men
Juno. Best movie. All of the other candidates can DREAM BIG.
[ohhhhh, movie quote]
No Country for Old Men! And it did win. WHAT was Juno doing on this list? It was a cute movie but NO WHERE in the league that all the others were.
I thought it should have been There Will Be Blood, but as a concession at least Day-Lewis won best actor. I wish they would release the percentage of voters each actor won, because I’ll bet Day-Lewis got over 90% of the votes. In terms of the critics and people’s impressions, it seems like everyone was on the same page as this one. In fact, I don’t think the announcer even opened the envelope. She knew. LOL.
haha havent seen any of them
I was so torn between There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men. I feel so horrible for Paul Thomas Anderson because he did such an amazing job on Blood, and he didn’t get any award for it. I don’t think the Coen Brothers deserved both the directing and best picture.
Juno was cute, but I’ve seen 20 indie movies that are ten times greater than Juno, but were ignored at the Academy. Ghost World? Harold and Maude? Harold and Maude isn’t even in the top 250 on IMDb, where Juno is 141. If Harold and Maude was never made, we wouldn’t have had 30 years of great indie filmmaking.
Atonement bored me. It was such a by-the-books academy-winning movie. Sprawling, war-time, love-lost, beautiful… I’ve seen it before. The acting and the score were great, but it did not deserve best picture at all.
And Michael Clayton is one of the most perfect films I’ve ever seen, but it’s a style of film that we’ve all seen before. It’s really great, but, again, didn’t deserve the win.
I saw myself sad when The Coen Brother won. Which of the two (Blood, No Country) do you think we will be talking about for the next 50 years? We’ll talk about the Coen Brothers, for sure, but we’ll talk about their whole repertoire. There Will Be Blood stood alone. And it was a hell of a film.
I haven’t seen any of them.
I’m not upset that, “No Country For Old Men,” won, but I would have voted for, “There Will Be Blood,” had I been in the Academy.
2. Juno
Juno maybe… other than that, who on earth picks these? this movies are by far not the best movies to come out this year. psch.
Juno!
No Country For Old Men, simply because Tommy Lee Jones is awesome.
There Will Be Blood looked pretty cool too, but I haven’t seen it yet- waiting for Blockbuster to get it.
I wish Juno had won, just because we need a comedy for best picture once in a while.
I enjoyed Juno, despite the awkwardness of sitting next to my girlfriend during the whole picture.
I know it’s late, but, I think Juno or Atonement should have won.
Juno
yes
Whee!
no country = no socks. cause it rocked mine off
It was close, but the one that won it, No Country.
I wish the Oscars were points-based, not competition based. Atonement, Micheal Clayton, and Blood all deserved it too, just not as much.
Juno!
