You mean the person is lying? If that’s what you mean, then yes.
Yes, yes I have. caught a girlfriend who was trying to say she just met a girl she cheated on me with recently (well, recently in regards to when it all took place), when actually they had been talking for the majority of our relationship (3 years) and I hadn’t known she existed.
Not that I can recall.
Nope – but it’s not like I’m looking for lies either.
Nice conversation heart. I wonder what blue ones taste like…
nope
Yes actually
Can’t say I have. A good deal of people usually come here to say things they’re truly afraid of telling other people.
nope
not really, but unless it concerns me or someone I know, I don’t really pay attention
I have.
Can’t say I have. As for my blog, it’s full of impossibilities and downright falsehoods and then sprinkled with truths. Generally speaking, I think it’s pretty easy to tell when I’m talking about my actual life and when I’m being ridiculous.
Maybe I’ll start looking for lies…
I remember reading a couple things on a blog before that didn’t make much sense. On one blog, she said one thing and then another entry the opposite….
Not looked for them. I can’t think of a time I’ve caught anyone lying because of a blog.
Not that I can remember…. maybe?
Nope, not that I can remember.
Yes.
Nope. I treat the internet like a very dangerous beast: fun for a while, but don’t let it take over your life. I have friends I read the blogs of, but I do not take what is said on the blog into reality.
Unless it’s funny, then its fair game.
’nuff said…
huh?
No. But I don’t really care enough to keep careful track. All things considered, if they want to create a fake life, that’s up to them. I have reasons for keeping my identity hidden behind the bird.
I give the benefit of the doubt, so no
yes
Yes
I don’t think so. Hmm.
Xo
Well, have you?
I haven’t – but I know people who have.
Hmm, not really. I’ve noticed that real-life friends left personal things out of their public blogs, but that’s not lying. It’s being moderate.
I met a Xangan who passed off a piece plagiarized writing, not just as her own writing, but as her own personal experience. The writing style seemed very different, so I Googled a line of it and got a hit.
Yes and his name is Dan.
but i caught people lying not through their blogs.
ooooh thats a good one.
No. But a lot of the people I know are writing “for entertainment purposes only” blogs, so there’s no reason to lie anyway.
And anyway, I hope people won’t draw hasty conclusions. If one blog entry says something, then another blog entry says something that’s a little bit different, it may be a case of poor memory, or a misunderstanding, or something like that.
Nope =)
i trust them all…
No, I haven’t.
Yes, many people.
Well actually no not really….I sometimes feel they stretch the drama out a little bit but not just straight up lies…..for example Dan last years pics of the Bass I caught on on trip….I stated I believe one weight over 6 pounds when he actually was just a hair over 5 pounds…..But all in all I feel most of my subs are pretty good at keeping their stories straight
No.
Yes Dan, at one point I thought you were the smartest person in the world, then I found out it was Paige………
@trunthepaige - You are the smartest person in the world
no…But, then again- I wasnt looking.
it’s hard to say one way or another because the blog is so multi-purpose. it can be used for journaling your innermost feelings or just as an outlet for creative non-fiction (or creative fiction) and because of the leeway there i’ve caught friends writing ridiculous stuff about their friends and lives in the name of creative writing. so my answer is a resounding probably not.
i can’t say i really have.
No but I guess people aren’t happy with their own lives and think they need to make fantastical stories up.
Yes, perhaps.
nahh
Yes.
<— This is NOT my actual eye. Sorry to disappoint.
Not that I remember.
Oh yes. I rarely confront them, though. I figure it’s not that big of a deal unless I know them.
No- Just secrets.
i don’t think so. have you?
I don’t think it’s necessary. But then I think about my aunt, who has 7 kids and a husband who doesn’t help her at all. Each of those times, when she had to go to the store or wherever, she took the kids, and sometimes that gets crazy. She might call and see if my sister or I were available to help her (I couldn’t watch them all at home, but I can hold hands and hold kids) – but I imagine a front parking space would have helped…
Probably.
Yes
I have and feel conflicted because of it. I would never call them out on it though. I tell myself that they must be really ill to make up something like that and I should feel very sorry for them.
No..but i don’t read that much into them. I usually just skim entries.
No, I don’t think so. Not yet, any way.
No, I don’t think so. If there is any it’s probably those who never mention about their personal life.
No.
Nope.
I can’t look at that heart without hearing Carol Kane’s voice in The Princess Bride…”LIAR!” “I’m not a witch, I’m your wife!”
I haven’t caught anyone else, but I’m always getting shit from my friends who say I my stories are elaborated and exaggerated. I just spice em up a little, it’s what writers do. Remember James Frey? Well maybe not that bad. :-p
Yep. Cheater!!! LOL
No, but it’s the internet so I don’t trust any or much of it anyway.
Nah, it’s much more fun and satisfying to catch someone in the act of committing a truth.
Weird….
I think much can be misconstrued throught text. So its always good to ask if you have doubts. And to use your own judgement.
I don’t believe I have ever seen a person “lie” in their blog. I got my blog to leave an “honest” account of whats going on, based on the knowlege I have at the time my blog is written. In real life, I will admit to lying, on occasion, either to protect myself, or another. Dealing with the kind of people I deal with, lying is sometimes the safest way. It’s the person who says they “never” lie I’d be afraid of.
I would have to say no…no to the lies…but yes to a whole of creepy stuff.
No, but then again, I don’t personally know the people whos xangas I read, so all I have to base off of is what they write.
Not that I can think of.. wait yes, I have.
Do people really have that much time on their hands?
Poor things. They should get a hobby or something.
not that i know of…but really..if u only know the person on here..who ever really knows who is telling the truth or a lie.. u either accept it or disregard..
Nope…
not yet, :]
Not that I can recall.
Never really thought about it before.
yes yes and yes agian. Its worse when they contordict thems selves when you are talking face to face. and you dont know if you should bring it up…
yeah..
quite sad..
I don’t care if someone lies in their blog or not so I haven’t really noticed. It’s just reading material. If it isn’t true, it’s fiction. I have caught people lying to me in comments and messages though.
Yes!
No
a few times
Nope. I have not.
How would that work?
I don’t notice lies so much as inconsistency in theory and hypocrisy
I DON’T THINK PEOPLE WOULD LIE ABOUT THINGS THEY WROTE IF THATS THERE FEELINGS THATS WHAT I SAY I’M NOT SURE
Nope, although you can sometimes get conflicting perspectives that way. I don’t consider that the same thing as lying.
yes! and calling her out on it made my best friend not talk to me for two years.
Yes, I have. People are so stupid…
can’t say that I have.
Personally, I don’t even tell white lies on here (like no, that outfit doesn’t make your butt look big or yes, I cleaned the litter box today ), but a lot of times I will exclude names to protect the guilty! I try not to lie anyway, just on principle. I’m not smart enough to keep up on the web that is created from lying.
Have you ever caught anyone lying?
Not really. It is far more useful to cross reference facebook wall posts and myspace comments to try to deduce other hook-ups of people you had your eye on who apparently got away.
How oh how did I blow that one?
/fail
YES? haha. i can’t believe you got this many comments from stating a simple question .
No. Does it even matter?
There was a girl on Xanga a while back who had made up a whole bunch of stuff, then she posted on her blog she died (saying someone else had written it obviously) THEN her site disappeared and she re-appeared w/ a new user name. weird. ???
yes.
it nearly ruined my relationship with my twin sister. two years later and I still don’t trust her. I still barely believe a word she says and I feel awful for it.
Yes, thank god for blogs.
No. I take everything as prlbably the truth on Xanga. I do not think anyone would be prone to lie online to so many possible readers. I, for one, tell the truth online. I find Xanga a beautiful way to tell my story. Otherwise, there is no other way to reveal my story, other than, as events happen again and again in my life, info hs been being placed in local and national newspapers. I am… …Love, Sande
Yes. It was just stupid stuff too.
i dont think so
I found out my bf was cheating on me while browsing blogs i came across a blog that belonged to the girl he was cheating with. I woudn’t have known it was him only there was a picture of them both. Very freaky coincidence that lead to an awful lot of heartache
i don’t think so. though i’m sure it has happened to others plenty.
