Yes, yes I have. caught a girlfriend who was trying to say she just met a girl she cheated on me with recently (well, recently in regards to when it all took place), when actually they had been talking for the majority of our relationship (3 years) and I hadn’t known she existed.

Can’t say I have. As for my blog, it’s full of impossibilities and downright falsehoods and then sprinkled with truths. Generally speaking, I think it’s pretty easy to tell when I’m talking about my actual life and when I’m being ridiculous.
Maybe I’ll start looking for lies…
I remember reading a couple things on a blog before that didn’t make much sense. On one blog, she said one thing and then another entry the opposite….

Hmm, not really. I’ve noticed that real-life friends left personal things out of their public blogs, but that’s not lying. It’s being moderate.
I met a Xangan who passed off a piece plagiarized writing, not just as her own writing, but as her own personal experience. The writing style seemed very different, so I Googled a line of it and got a hit.

No. But a lot of the people I know are writing “for entertainment purposes only” blogs, so there’s no reason to lie anyway.
And anyway, I hope people won’t draw hasty conclusions. If one blog entry says something, then another blog entry says something that’s a little bit different, it may be a case of poor memory, or a misunderstanding, or something like that.

Well actually no not really….I sometimes feel they stretch the drama out a little bit but not just straight up lies…..for example Dan last years pics of the Bass I caught on on trip….I stated I believe one weight over 6 pounds when he actually was just a hair over 5 pounds…..But all in all I feel most of my subs are pretty good at keeping their stories straight

it’s hard to say one way or another because the blog is so multi-purpose. it can be used for journaling your innermost feelings or just as an outlet for creative non-fiction (or creative fiction) and because of the leeway there i’ve caught friends writing ridiculous stuff about their friends and lives in the name of creative writing. so my answer is a resounding probably not.

I don’t think it’s necessary. But then I think about my aunt, who has 7 kids and a husband who doesn’t help her at all. Each of those times, when she had to go to the store or wherever, she took the kids, and sometimes that gets crazy. She might call and see if my sister or I were available to help her (I couldn’t watch them all at home, but I can hold hands and hold kids) – but I imagine a front parking space would have helped…

I haven’t caught anyone else, but I’m always getting shit from my friends who say I my stories are elaborated and exaggerated. I just spice em up a little, it’s what writers do. Remember James Frey? Well maybe not that bad. :-p

I think much can be misconstrued throught text. So its always good to ask if you have doubts. And to use your own judgement.
I don’t believe I have ever seen a person “lie” in their blog. I got my blog to leave an “honest” account of whats going on, based on the knowlege I have at the time my blog is written. In real life, I will admit to lying, on occasion, either to protect myself, or another. Dealing with the kind of people I deal with, lying is sometimes the safest way. It’s the person who says they “never” lie I’d be afraid of.
I would have to say no…no to the lies…but yes to a whole of creepy stuff.

I don’t care if someone lies in their blog or not so I haven’t really noticed. It’s just reading material. If it isn’t true, it’s fiction. I have caught people lying to me in comments and messages though.

Personally, I don’t even tell white lies on here (like no, that outfit doesn’t make your butt look big or yes, I cleaned the litter box today
), but a lot of times I will exclude names to protect the guilty! I try not to lie anyway, just on principle. I’m not smart enough to keep up on the web that is created from lying.

Not really. It is far more useful to cross reference facebook wall posts and myspace comments to try to deduce other hook-ups of people you had your eye on who apparently got away.

There was a girl on Xanga a while back who had made up a whole bunch of stuff, then she posted on her blog she died (saying someone else had written it obviously) THEN her site disappeared and she re-appeared w/ a new user name. weird. ???

No. I take everything as prlbably the truth on Xanga. I do not think anyone would be prone to lie online to so many possible readers. I, for one, tell the truth online. I find Xanga a beautiful way to tell my story. I found out my bf was cheating on me while browsing blogs i came across a blog that belonged to the girl he was cheating with. I woudn’t have known it was him only there was a picture of them both. Very freaky coincidence that lead to an awful lot of heartache
