A new survey indicates that the majority of Americans don’t believe their religion is the only way to eternal life.
In fact, “57 percent of evangelical church attenders said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life.” Here is the link: Link
Yet Jesus clearly said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Do you think your religion is the only way to eternal life?

Slavery and The Bible
Dr. James Dobson, a conservative religious leader, has accused Barack Obama of “distorting” the Bible.
One of the references is to slavery. Barack Obama is accused by Dr. Dobson of saying the Bible condones slavery. Here is the link: Link
Here is the scripture in question:
“44 ‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45
You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and
members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your
property. 46 You can will
them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves
for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.” NIVDo you think the Bible condones slavery?

Voting For Obama
I am planning on voting for Obama.
I have been thinking about it for the last few months. I have never voted for a Democrat for president before. I tend to vote based on a social conservative agenda. I am not so much a fiscal conservative.
I always try to look at the candidate as a whole. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Bill Clinton because he was morally bankrupt. So I voted against him twice. I say I voted against him because I really wasn’t voting for the first Bush or Bob Dole.
I voted for George W. Bush twice. I felt that was a good vote at the time. I liked Al Gore (I know I give him a hard time on my blog but he does make it easy). I even liked John Kerry. But I felt good about my vote for President Bush. I have always felt that President Bush was an honest man who was doing what he thought was right.
I have not been as supportive of President Bush in the last year or so. I just felt he could never admit he was wrong or that he would make mistakes. I guess his job is tough. I still think he is honest and in his mind tries to do the right thing.
But I am done for now with the Republican party. I don’t really like John McCain. I get the general feeling that he thinks the country is going in the right direction and that we should stay the course.
As a social conservative, I think Obama is a good match for my vote. I think he shares some of the same values that I have. I realize he is pro-choice so it will be my first time voting for someone who is pro-choice. For me, that has been the biggest hangup. But I think that you will see other Conservative Christians switching over to Obama too.
I am convinced that Obama is what our country needs. I know he is less experienced but I want to point out that he showed he is a strong politician by beating Hillary Clinton. She is a tough candidate.
I am 36 years old and I never thought I would vote for a Democrat.
I will still make fun of Obama on my blog in the next few months. I tend to be the toughest on the people I like. But I have a good feeling about Obama. And I am going to vote for the candidate that I feel good about.

Is Google Making Us Stupid?
I was reading a post by Leonidas in which he referenced an article titled “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Here is the link for the article: Link
Leonidas was pointing out the part of the article that talked about how having the Internet has made research easier but actually caused the author to say it was making it harder to read longer books. Leonidas pointed out that he found that to be the case with himself. He is actually not reading as many books as he spends time on the Internet.
It is funny because I have read less long books since I started my xanga three and a half years ago.
Do you think google is causing us to read longer books less?

Nerds are Cool
I was just watching a program this morning on a news program where they were talking about nerds now being cool.
I noticed that they were using the definition of nerd that was used in one definition of dictionary.com:
“Nerd: an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit.”
In the program, they were talking about how people who are obsessed with video games or the Internet are now considered cool.
Do you think nerds are cool?

Expressing Laughter On the Internet
We all come to the place where we find the need to express laughter on the Internet.
I started off just making comments on sites and found that people could not read the sarcasm. So someone suggested that I adopt some way of expressing my laughter.
The “lol” option is out there for everyone to use. I could never get myself to use “lol.” So I went with “ha.” “Sure that outfit looks great on you. Ha.” “Yes, I think Ron Paul has a chance in this election. Ha.”
It let people know I was joking. Then a friend told me that “ha” was limited and it felt like an uncomfortable laugh. She suggested that I go with the “haha.” So to this day, I use the “haha.”
I notice some people add the subtle “a” before the “ha” getting a “ahahaha.” or even adding the “b” getting “bahaha.”
How do you express laughter on the Internet?
