  • Who is Hotter Results

Here are the results of when I ran the “Who is hotter” contest the other day.

    The winner is ELBOWpasta

The second place was really a tie.  I had five to six people count and the counts were so close:

    Tied for second:

    TheOriginalImperial

    And Antisoccermom

I ran this contest with the top five people from a ms xangamerica contest.   The five top candidates had people go vote for them for the contest.  I based this totally on looks where that contest did it based partially on blogging.

I thought it was interesting that the results were almost reversed on my contest versus the other contest.  ELBOWpasta won by a huge majority on my contest but she must have been in the bottom group over there.  I think it is because she just didn’t campaign as hard over on that contest.

TheOriginalImperial didn’t even make it to the final five on the other contest and yet she was tied for second on my contest.  I actually thought in advance she would win over here or be in the top group.

Antisoccermom actually did well in both contests.  She placed well in both contests showing that she could do consistently well.

The odd thing is that the winner on the other site was actually the lowest vote person on this contest.  I am not sure how to explain that.

I did a beauty contest on my site before.  The top person was a “girl next door” type of woman.  She was 23 years old.  She kind of reminds me of ELBOWpasta in that people also described her as a “girl next door.”  I think people tend to vote for the “girl next door” look.

What is it about a girl next door?

  • couldn’t tell you. I like my women  foxy.

  • Hey, I’m putting the word out there about the photograph contest I submitted some of my pictures to… there’s a slim chance I could earn some scholarship money, so I’m trying to boost up my popularity.. I’d really appreciate your vote!! Just click the link..Thanks a billion!!

    http://www.brickfish.com/Pages/Watchlist/WatchlistView.aspx?pid=811725

The site is actually a pretty nice place to get your photos recognized if you want to check it out for yourself.. from one photographer to another, eh?

  • that they are hot but they dont know it so they act like they couldnt care less, and THAT makes them hotter.

    i think.

  • I picked the #1…I picked the #1…I picked the #1! :) It’s confirmed I still have good taste :)

  • So who won? The Miss Xanga thing?

  • You know what really kinda sucked about this contest… is that they were/ are.. ALL beautiful…  each of them  deserved to win.

  • She’s universally attractive.  The sweet & simple look can’t be denied.  Basically, women want to be that, because they view it as attainable, natural, and desirable.  Men want to have that, because they figure the girl is low-maintenance and drop-dead gorgeous.  “Girl next door” types also look nice, youthful and innocent, which have a more universal appeal than bitchiness, age, or excessive experience, particularly in this culture.

What is NOT attractive is self-obsession, bitchiness, complaints, and low self-esteem masquerading as rationalization, excuses, or absurd narcissism.  This is why I don’t like AntiSoccerMom or StephanieMarie.

  • @chrispycrunch - ”good” and “popular” aren’t always the same thing!  in this case, though, I think they were.

  • What is it? SHE”S NEXT DOOR!

  • Well, if you’re the boy next door it’s all about the possibilities.

  • They’re attainable and within my range. Girls next door (Girl next doors?) are super hot, yet they’re somehow not out of your league, you know?

  • I didn’t know the xangamerica contest ended.  Let’s just say I find the results as reliable as a Florida recount.

ElbowPasta, you are my Ms. Xangamerica.  You are not only WAAAAYY prettier, you are super entertaining in that knitted baby blanket cape handing out eprops on the curb.  And you’re a better writer, and you are authentic.  And your brother took your pictures, not Glamor Shots. :)

  • @la_faerie_joyeuse - That’s why I like you, woman.  You don’t pull any punches.

  • @Xcholo4u - hahaha I got a kick out of that

Guys find that kind of girl looks approachable and acts down to earth.. the kind of girl they’d actually have a shot with. Girls don’t feel threatened by that look and feel they can relate and be her.

  • Your mama will let you alone in a room with her.

  • :: shrug ::  I feel I’m not really qualified to answer this one.

  • @ficklemistress - Thanks!  And that’s the exact same reason that I would never win a contest like this.

  • thanks for reminding me that I am a cold and distant second place.

  • A girl next door is real.

  • I know what it is!
The girl next door has a charm and beauty that is effortless.
    That is my belief.

  • @la_faerie_joyeuse - I feel as though there are these unworthy elite of xanga, who really don’t have anything to say except to glorify their own egos and somehow manage to get a following.  I don’t understand it.  I’m not saying that all the xangameria contestants are like that, but I am saying, the results are typical and stupid at best.  It’s just like real life, the people who get the most attention are not the most interesting ones.  Sad, but reality.  I take comfort in the fact that you are not an egomaniac, and actually have interesting things to say, and an actual thought in your head. WHAT THE FUCK?

  • I wonder how much their readership has gone up because of all the exposure? I can’t wait for “Xanga Presents: Behind the Contests, The Rise and Fall of Xanga Beauty Pageant Contestants”!

  • @Lithium98 - Quite a bit, actually. But I think that it’ll die down when they realize that my contest prompts were the peak of my writing creativity and overall ability. But I’m pretty flattered that I get to wind up like a washed up child star. Ohh, the possibilities.

  • Girls are jealous of the glamorous beauties, and would rather support the girl next door because every girl has potential to be the girl next door, whereas being the beauty queen is much less achievable.

Guys can’t have the glamorous beauties, and would rather support a girl they can imagine supporting them right back.

I think it’s a confidence thing. I also think everyone will disagree with me because they’re in denial of their voting to justify themselves rather than their true preference.

  • Prime example is Kestryl, who says she likes her women foxy… and has ridiculous high self confidence.

    My theory has support!

    ::bows::

  • It might have something to do with having known a girl next door – every “girl next door” gets brownie points for reminding you of someone special.

  • she doesn’t look like a skank?

  • That they go back home once you are finished baby-sitting them…?..

  • @Twist2daRav3n - I agree with you in that the “girl next door” is a figment of the imagination.  Guys are so damn insecure.  Give me glamour, confidence, foxy, but please give me brains as well!  Just because a girl is beautiful, doesn’t mean to say that she is self centered and narcissicistic.

  • @ficklemistress - Oh, I never said I wasn’t an egomaniac!
I am, actually, quite, uh, vocal about my opinions, and I’ve gotten the idea that my opinions are often worth more than those of other people (but that’s mostly because I provide evidence for my opinions, when the vast majority of other people do not).  Of course, I’m more than willing to hear anyone else out if they will provide evidence, and I very much like to further understand new perspectives, even if it means I have been wrong.  But still, most people who don’t know me well describe me as egotistical.  People who know me well (both friends and enemies) think I’m one of the least egotistical people they have ever met.  Go figure.

@Twist2daRav3n - I actually don’t think that I have the potential to look like the girl next door.  I don’t have a cute face, and my body is ultra-femme/ultra-sexualized (notably, large breasts).  So this isn’t necessarily true for everyone.

  • @Twist2daRav3n - Oh, and I would very much like to be able to pull off the “girl next door” look at least occasionally.

But my personal preferences for women are much more outlandish – bright red hair, bright green eyes, distinctive features, pale skin, and an extreme hourglass figure.  Definitely not “girl next door.”  I just thought elbowpasta was the best of those five presented.

  • why do we all worry so much about this anyway?  Does it really matter?  just wondering.

  • Every girl is next door to someone… so it’s an interesting phrase anyway. Kind of like “man on the street”.

  • my final round is going to be SO MUCH HOTTER than this, you have no idea.

  • Cool!  Congrats to her!!!

Here’s the deal, the girl next door is considered obtainable.  Whereas a ’10′ is definatley out of my league.  Also the girl next door also tends to be someone you know, a friend, someone fun.  Someone easy to get along with.  It’s not that the perfect ten isn’t fun, or easy to get along with but the average guy tends to be intimidated by her.

  • its because ..she is right next door *you know what I mean!* ..hehehe. ..lol ..oh am such a pervert ..hahaha :P

  • @angi1972 - I noticed that. They are all very good looking people. It was hard just to pick one person.

  • you feel comfortable

  • @fullmetalbunny - that’s a line i’d love to quote ;)

  • Yay, she won! Lol. She’s really pretty and seems nice. I guess if you have those qualities that makes you irrisistable. I dunno, I’m a girl, not a guy.

  • They are all beautiful but my goodness, the first girl is thin.  Very pretty, but wow, very thin.

The appeal of the girl next door is she’s next door.  Available.  Usually.

  • @LightningRichy - “They’re attainable and within my range.
Girls next door (Girl next doors?) are super hot, yet they’re somehow
not out of your league, you know?”

    agreed

  • @ELBOWpasta - Danny Bonaduce, eat your heart out!

  • Mzybe it has something to do with the picture. You can see ELBOWspagitti`s body. the other two were just head shots.

  • You should do a poll on which one of the Golden Girls was hottest.

I vote for Rue, mmmm, that Southern belle.

  • I think people like the “girl next door” because that type of girl tends to be beautiful (though not overly so), sweet, humble, talented, and kind. Think Mary-Jane from the “Spider-Man” movies. I would love to date a girl like that (but as I’ve already mentioned on thsi site, my dating confidence is low).

  • Elbow Pasta needs a sandwich. No offense, but the concentration camp look is getting very tired. Where are real women with real dimensions?

She is beautiful, but its just the weight thing. I feel society on all levels pushes females to use,”whatever means necessary” to look like elbow pasta.

    NO OFFENSE.

  • She is real – she is attainable
She puts up no fronts //less drama

Of course, this is judging on looks
but sometimes personality seems to come out in looks.

    Short term attractive = Hott
Long Term = Girl Next Door, Modest, Laid Back, Brain

  • @cognoscere9 - Well, I understand you meant no offense, and of course none was taken, but you say that as though this is a) my desired weight, and b) a look that I get by trying.

I would love to be more curvaceous, and I’ve tried plans to gain weight. It just doesn’t work for me, no matter how wrong that sounds. I do eat. A lot. It’s just a matter of how fast my metabolism is, whether you or I like it or not.

I understand it’s just a matter of personal preference, and some people like to find beauty in curves rather than sticks, but I just find it disconcerting that some people don’t think I have the right to be thought highly of just because I look like I haven’t had a square meal in weeks.

(And really, this wasn’t directed completely at you, it was more of a reply to everyone who was voicing concerns like this, so I’m so sorry if it sounded as though I was attacking you.)

  • Well, the girl who lives next door to me is a fat ho. But yeah, guys do seem to go for her. I don’t understand at all.

  • @ELBOWpasta -

I certainly can appreciate the way you look and I am definitely not trying to put you down! Everyone woman, shape or size deserves to be thought of highly.

My comment was provoked more from fear- because I know so many girls who have the antithesis of your problem- not being able to shed weight and go through drastic measures to loose it. The media puts alot of pressure on young girls, women and yes – even men.

But anyhoo you are the winner soooo- Congradulations!!! on winning- keep eating sandwhiches (lol) and take care-

    S

  • Maybe people are voting based on naughty memories.

  • Maybe, because majority of your viewers are women and women tend to hate other women that represent beauty looking like a slut.  Women can be beautiful with out looking objectifying their body.

  • Their appeal has two components:

    1. Genetics:  Natural beauty, not artificially enhanced, girls next door look great in ratty pjs and bed head, or a ponytail, jeans and no makeup or very little.  It’s effortless.

    2. Approachability:  They aren’t constantly trying to be the center of attention, because they don’t have to.  They just shine from the inside out, and people are just naturally drawn to them.

  • I think they seem more approachable, more down to earth, less intimidating. Elbowpasta looks like a girl who would be my friend and like me despite the fact that I’m pretty weird.

  • I think it’s that they have a ‘real’ look to them. They aren’t all dolled up and glamorous, but they do take care of themselves. They seem outgoing, fun, outdoorsy even…maybe a touch of tom boyishness. But the main thing is they’re pretty, they’re smart and they’re approachable….or at least have an approachable look to them.

  • #3, most definitely – on the outside she looks like my last
serious girlfriend,  only not in a whoreish way.  quite cute!

     you would be so kind, of any of those who may wish to matter to us to drop a reply into cyberspace;
to inform daverave.net of your receiving this little note, and juggled with it; that be cooler than not

  • I think people tend to vote or gravitate more towards the people that remind them of themselves.  The person is more relate able and more attainable in this way, I believe.  More people are going to be more “girl next door” or “normal” looking versus a beauty queen, so it’s just natural for them to pick the one that remind them of themselves.  In this case, it was ElbowPasta.

  • @Twist2daRav3n - I actually respectfully disagree. In my opinion, the girl next door look is less attainable, because it’s an effortless type of beauty — one that cannot be bought or faked. In contrast, the beauty queen look is achievable with enough money, superficiality, makeup, and clothes.

  • They are just more simple yet pretty at the same time. People can relate to them.
