Although it will be in the news for a few days, I doubt we will see Jesse Jackson fired like Don Imus.

Years ago, I had a friend in the military who was black and he told me black people can call each other whatever they want.  He said that his distant relatives picked cotton by slavery and he was mistreated for being black and it gave him the right to use the n-word but white people can’t use it.

Do you think it is different if a black person uses the n-word than if a white person uses it?

I used to claim that I was not a perfectionist.  I would say that I just surrounded myself with perfectionist.  But I have come to realize that I am a perfectionist. 

This perfectionist mentality has caused me to take forever to get projects done.  When I was in school, I used to take forever to do homework and study for tests because I would take so much time trying to get everything perfect.

It has really carried over into my last few jobs.  I spent way too much time on setup and didn’t jump to the most important things.  I feel like I am at a place in my current job that I have to just stop trying to make everything perfect and just get the job done.  If I don’t take that approach, I am going to continue to appear to my boss as if I can’t complete tasks on time.

My boss came to my work recently and helped around the place.  It really bothered me that he did some things so quickly and didn’t do them the exact way I wanted them done.  But I realize I need to speed up the pace or find a job that allows me to continue to make everything perfect.
