Obama’s Running Mate
There has been a bunch of talk about who the presidential candidates will pick to be their vice-presidential running mates.
Do you think Obama should pick Hillary Clinton to be his vice-president?

Can’t hurt.
I’d like to see the fallout/payoff of that.
yeah sure
I think it’d be a clever thing for him to do, but Biden would probably be better.
@ducati623 - COULD hurt… Some people are anti-Hilary to the point that they’d vote anyone else…
doesn’t matter. VPs are just pretty faces.
I dont think so
For the most part I could care less as a Republican, but this election it means more than usual. Hillary I think would help his electoral possibilities, but I think Billary would make his job at the White House difficult. I don’t think it will happen unless he thinks he absolutely needs her to get elected. Even then…
Eh, sure. I don’t really care – it’s not going to make much of a difference.
oh yeah, but hillary would most definitely hurt him. in the running and probably every other way possible
Yup…I don’t see why not?
It will help him more than hurt him..
I don’t think it’d be such a good idea to have her as VP if he wins the White House, but I can’t say whether adding Clinton would help or hurt him more in getting elected.
That would be horrible.
No, I don’t think so. You and your running mate need to get along, and I don’t think Obama and Clinton could do that. While a powerful ticket, you need a duo who will work together well in the White House.
My vote goes for Biden.
I would like to see her as the vice president; to show something for her all her work. I also feel like he would be bringing in someone whose values have already been presented to the country, and that would be good. She is fit for the job…as long as there isn’t any tension between them..which I doubt there isn’t.
I think that would be incredibly foolish.
Would Hilary even accept if he offered? Might not be the best strategic move for Obama, but that’s just my opinion.
Erm…sure? I don’t hate her, but I’m not crazy about her either.
Ron Paul, baby!
No, I don’t think he should, and I honestly doubt he will. I could be wrong. There are tensions between them, or maybe more between their supporters, and I don’t think she would bring him enough support. I kind of see him going the older white man route for the VP.
I think he should choose Kathleen Sebelius.
i dont think it will happen, but yes!
If he did, I think it might help to correct the split in the democratic party
Obama has made this such personality driven contest, that it really don’t matter who he picks. This election is all about Obama’s quest to become the messiah.
ehhh, with a good RPG shot you could kill two birds with one stone if they were running mates
Not sure……folks might start rumors that the two are having an affair (can’t you see the press drooling over the possibility of a scandal?
) or that she’s behind him because she thinks he’s not smart enough to do the job alone…..just a lot of possibilities.
Hillary as VP? NOT the person I’d want standing behind me…I think it would be safer to turn your back to Hannibal Lectur than to Hillary…
Naw, not a good idea from my view point.
Xo
I think it would be a bad move… there are just too many people who can’t stand Hillary. He would be much better off picking someone who is not as controversial.
Yes, dream team!
I’ve read that it will just add a double-bias to his campaign. There are already people who won’t vote for him simply because of his color. Why would you add Hillary to that and knock out everyone who won’t vote for her because she’s a woman?
No, no, no, no. He needs someone who has a lot of foreign political experience, like Bill Clinton.
(Not seriously though, but what if he did pick him?)
Personally, I wouldn’t mind. She is a respectable woman with great experience and a good voting record. I would not vote for her for president if you forced me too, but she would make a great #2.
However, I think Richardson would be my top choice, folled by Biden (which he will most likely pick), and then the female govenor from Kansas.
I’m unsure on whether or not it would help, but I’m almost certain if he was elected, the whole thing would backfire on him in the long run.
@five11nation - EXACTLY! Why can’t Ron Paul win, waaah.
No. She’d probably pay someone to whack him so she could become president.
Just my theory. In actuallity, I could care less.
I would pick Bill Richardson, but that’s just me.
I’d love Sebelius. I’m from Kansas and she’s been magnificent here. Has the name presumed honesty.
@ada_ada_ada_ada - She really has. Oh… and go Kansans!
@ada_ada_ada_ada - I also have no idea what my last sentence was supposed to mean. I meant she also seems to be as honest as Barack.
Nope, I think it would hurt his chances of winning independent voters. I also think that it would add a lot of controversy and infighting to his potential administration.
he should choose stephen colbert.
get that colbert bump.
@ada_ada_ada_ada - You believe Barack is honest? Do you never read anything? He can never decide what his positions are on anything.
As for Sebelius, I’d like to ask you what good she has really done because frankly I am not aware of much.
Yeah, that would be a lost election! Go McCain!
@Powerpal2015 - Bill Clinton has already served the constitutional limit for a president. Thus he is not eligible for the VP spot because he cannot take over for Obama in the event something happens to him. Also, I really don’t think that getting Bill on the Ticket would be either easy, he is making huge money on the speech circuit, nor likely to increase Obama’s popularity, most every analysis I have heard puts Bill’s campaigning as being a big liability in Hilary’s campaign.
@LadyLaVonna - You have a very good point there. It’d probably be safer to walk naked through the middle of a ground battle in Afghanistan.
i think obama is a douche and who ever he picks is gunna be a racist idiot just like he is.
Hillary will have a polarizing effect. It can only be really good or really bad.
I hope he doesn’t.
Why not? They both are democrat.
noooooo.
hmm…idk…
Logistically, it sounds liek a good idea because they’re for the same party.
Realistically, it probably won’t happen.
No, no, no, sweet fucking Jesus, NO.
Yeah, definitely.
It would be a great choice… in order to secure him not winning
he should pick Chris Dodd or Bill Richardson
Not really. I believe she is a morally bankrupt person of ambition who structured her entire life to position herself to run in this election.
And epic failed.
That is not a track record I want second in line for the presidency. Only a fool takes such a huge gamble.
Only if he isn’t afraid to die when Air Force One mysteriously crashes.
For the sake of making history on two fronts, I believe he should pick her. She has the charm, inside scoop, Bill, a brilliant mind, and the women’s vote. That should count for something. Pride aside, Barack should do what is right for this point in time. Go Hillary, Go!!!
thats a tough one, it could work strongly both ways for him though
I used to think so, but after talking to several people who are staunch Obama supporters, they said they would be hesitant to vote for him if he had Hillary on the ticket. So, no.
If Billary ends up in the White House I’ll be fleeing the country and waiting for rapture.
Hells no. I didn’t trust her and she proved me right. All that talk she did about him not being experienced and being shady, why would she want to work under him? Opportunistic, perhaps?
Bill Richardson would be perfect. He’s got the perfect resume, he’s a cool guy, and he could only enhance an Obama administration. Hopefully, people won’t be put off at the idea of two brown men running the country though.
Ron Paul would be excellent, by the way, but those damned party lines…
hmm ….Biden has good name recognition and less baggage .
i was thinking Hillary because the PRO HILLARY forces would still get pummped and i love the positve energy , of aBack and a female ticket ,, they would be offensive and creative instead of Defensive and scared like happens so much with the energy stream of Democartic politics.
they often are fightaing agaist some thing or some one …instead of fight for a CAUSE ! and growth and real changes .
So Biden , mya represent to swing back to FEAR based action , in reality losing of the focus of a GOOD CAUSE .
no. but he should consider putting her on the cabinet.
If that actually winds up happening? I’ll be really and truly shocked.
Obama should not pick Sen. Clinton. It would be dangerous for him to give someone with so much political power a position just below him on the ladder. He would end up looking weaker as a candidate. I think the entire question is pointless, however. Sen. Clinton as been slated to speak at the Dem convention already. If Obama was to pick her as his running mate she would be the key speaker on a second night. Obama is not going to give his running mate more time at the convention than Obama himself gets.
the runner best slow up, if we believe he will achieve any offixe.
pray that racism does not raise it’s head on this one. look at the
bright side of life, (the vacation each given to do with what they
wish) THE BEST THING: BO CHOSE J.C. AS RUNNING-MATE.

I hope so…….it would be hillaryarious!
Yessir – a lot easier for us Republicans if Ms. Clinton is back in the running!
@RagamuffinKing - BAGH!!! I thought the same thing….
( :
That would be a dynamic duo, especially years from now when you look into the history books, being the first Kenyan-American president and his female Vice-President, wife of previous president Bill Clinton!
I know he will. Then she’ll just kill him and say, “Oh, look, now I’m president.”
@feedingsheep - Haha, Hilary is anything but a pretty face.
She earned it.
i don’t think i could say a bigger no
actually, i vote we skip the election this year and have all new candidates next year.
NO! That would be catastrophic. The Hag doesn’t “take” orders…she gives them…and she wants them OBEYED….or is it Obama?
I don’t think that Hillary Clinton would particularly help Obama and he realizes that so I can almost certainly promise you that Clinton will not be the VP candidate. Why?
1. She’s already listed to speak at the Democrat Convention on Tuesday.
2. She’s too divisive. People either really like her or they really hate her. There is not much in between. 3. Obama needs to pick someone with more foreign policy experience with things like the Russia/ Georgia issue cropping up. He’d be better off picking someone like Bill Richardson or Joe Biden.
4. Obama has been spending an awful lot of time in VA where the Governor is supposedly on his short list. VA is also a swing state. With as close as the polls currently are, picking a popular figure from a swing state could not hurt. With Hillary Clinton being the senator from NY, she doesn’t have much to offer in this aspect.
YES he should ….for all selfish campaign purposes and together they have the right ideas lets hope they can implement them….then so does John McCain!!!
@feedingsheep - Cheney is a “pretty face”?
@vangelicmonk - You couldn’t care less. If you could care less, then you must care some.
Um…No.
Sure he should. He pretty much adopted her entire platform in the last couple of months. She should at least get her face up there.
Obamas VP has already been picked…by a bilderberg attendee. Of course the dilluted public and Obamas koolaid poeple don’t know that. obama is backed by Henry Kissinger and a few other questionable people.
He should nominate Ron Paul, immediately resign after being sworn in, and the country should be fixed not long after that.
@mrcolorful - See, this is why I try to avoid topics people take seriously. And the 22nd amendment prohibits someone from being elected into the presidential office for more than 2 terms. He could still be president if Obama quit or dies. Of course, this is already a very controversial issue, even to congress, so I’m not going any further.
And it was more of a joke anyway, didn’t you read that bit?
Darn it! Politics. I can’t throw in 2-cents on this one.
I hope that whoever makes it into office will do thier best to run this country.
i’m not convinced either way but i think it would make things even more interesting!!
@Powerpal2015 - I read that amendment differently. It does say that you cannot be elected President more that twice but it also says that you cannot be elected more than once if you have served more than half of a term that someone else was elected to. My reading would indicate that Bill Clinton would only be eligible after half of Obama’s first term has passed. This really is an issue for Constitutional Judges to decide.
@RagamuffinKing - hillary would never do that. she would have him “commit suicide” or “be assassinated by a lone gunman” but she wouldnt break a presidential toy, after all, she’s wanting to inherit it.
@nephyo - or IN a cabinet… hehehe
nope
Wow, I did not know that whoever is president gets to pick the vice-president. I thought the runner up automatically gets the slot. ROFL! I feel sooo stupid! But I have a feeling he might pick McCain. =/ No. . I take that back. Yes, he will pick Hillary!
x0x MK
@trunthepaige - Seriously? Personality driven? Have you noticed how Obama’s commercials are about issues (the ones I’ve seen) while quite a few McCain’s pretty much just deal with Obama’s celebrity and imply that he’s the Antichrist? If anyone is making this a personality driven election, it’s McCain.
In response to the question: I don’t think it would have as big an effect either way as people tend to assume. Honestly I think whoever he picks from his ‘shortlist’ is fine. I think he’ll get elected no matter who it is, so long as there are no huge blunders or scandals in the next few months.
@stephenandginny - lol. You’re right. Thanks for catching that and letting me know.
@MissKariRocks - Actually that is how it was done with the first presidents starting with Washington who had Adams as his VP after he ran against him. However, I am not sure when that changed and why. I’m glad you are learning about the political process. Welcome to the club.
I think it’d hurt…because HC just rides other people fame to the top.
What difference should that make? Are we really that foolish a nation of people that Obama stands any chance of bringing his empty-suit self to the whitehouse?
One of the latest bits of nonsense I heard him spout was something along the lines of how we should assist the poor into the middle class? What a bunch of communist BS. The middle is only the middle because there are people who don’t have it together enough to take advantage of what already exists for them to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.
I want things to go back to the days when the VP was pretty much a nobody. I don’t care who he picks, I just want the anti-Cheney.
She might shoot him in his sleep, crazy lady.
Eh. She might bring a lot of votes to the poll. Enough to overcome the perception that they are both inexperienced boobs? I don’t know. I’d like to see him pick someone with more foreign policy or economic credentials.
I think John Edwards would be a better choice.
eeeeek i dunno. thats a tough call. they could potentially make a good team, but you never know…
i wonder what would happen if mccain chose hillary.
@stephenandginny - actually, i was going to include an “except for cheney,” but i didn’t remember until after I had hit submit
@ClintPlumlee -
Issues? sorry vague generalities are not talking about issues and joking about Obama’s messiah complex is not calling him the anti Christ.
In the words of the Messiah’s wife: “Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed”
She forgets he is running for president and not Lord of all. The rest of that speech was just as bad.
In Obama’s own words
“There’s a moment in the life of every generation, when that spirit has to come through if we are to make our mark on history. And this is our moment. This is our time”
That is one of the most arrogant things I have ever heard considering the subject is him asking us to vote for him. Then add all the comments calling Barack Obama, “THE ONE” and making fun of his self inflated ego and worshipful fans is well . . . he is ripe for it.
And as he has never accomplished much of anything in his life, other than run for office, what else is there to talk about, his well scripted prepared speeches?
no, i don’t think so
Definitely!
Of course he will. Black guys love fat white chicks.
@trunthepaige - Well I’d say that in a 1 minute television commercial, generalities are pretty much as specific as you can get, but I’d still rather here generalities about a politicians policies than simply hear them bash their opponent’s popularity (a paradox, if you ask me). If you’d like to know more about his plans, so you won’t be confused about his vague generalities, feel free to visit his website, http://www.barackobama.com.
I still don’t understand your argument, you say he’s arrogant, and then provide silly little quotes that don’t really back up that claim. He’s advocating hope from the hell we’ve been put through for the past 7 years, and it is, in fact, by electing him that we could change all that. Not because he’s brilliant, but because he’s different, while John McCain is undoubtedly similar.
Never really accomplished anything in his life? Hmmm…well besides get 2 Ivy League degrees, practice civil rights law, author 2 bestselling books, and be elected the US Senate, I guess your right. What a bum.
.
@ClintPlumlee - Wow he goes to school, and writes two books. Sorry he never practiced law, he lectured on the subject. Being elected is all he ever done politically. he has not spent a full term in the senate yet, the entire time spent campaigning. The mans record is a joke.
And I know his proposals (platform) as well. What a mess he would make of things if he actually had his way.
He goes to Harvard and Columbia and writes 2 best sellers. You done that lately? How about McCain?
And actually, he did practice law, he worked for the firms Sidney and Austin, Hopkins and Sutter, and Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Your research is as impeccable as your writing.
You’re right, though. What a mess he would make by getting us out of this war that the majority of America doesn’t approve of. It would really suck when he attempts to fix the economic issues which have arisen partly thanks to the incompetence of the past seven years. I’ll move to Canada when he establishes healthcare that will cover millions more Americans (actually, scratch that, I’ll move to Mali, Canada’s already there). “Being elected is all he ever done politically.” Wow, that just cracks me up.
Anywho, his track record isn’t long, you’re right, But I personally take solace in knowing that the majority of his experience is with the people. While all the politicians set in their offices in Washington, he was being a community organizer in Chicago, or practicing civil rights law.
If Obama’s not your thing, that’s cool, but it’s mistakes like “he never practiced law” that really screw politics up. Falsehoods don’t help anybody, Democracies depend on an informed public, not an ill-informed public.
nope.
doesnt make sense for him to choose her. if she would have bowed out gracefully back in june, then maybe it’d be a different story. but no.
Good choice. She’s the only option I know of that’s as morally bankrupt as him.
perhaps
Yes. Two corrupt, ward-heeling politicians who spawned from the Daley Machine of Chicago… and who hate each other. What could be more representative of the Democrat Party?
It would help him gain more votes …
But do we really want to have Obama, Hillary, and Bill running the country?
noooo he shouldnt pick Hilary Clinton as vice president. But thats just my person opinion.
I really dont like her but oh well…
