How Old Can You Be and Still Be Described as Hot?
I personally find John McCain’s pick for vice-president hot.
Sarah Palin is an attractive woman. Now some will say that is a sexist remark. But it isn’t sexist. It is a personal opinion.
But here is my problem. She is 44 years old.
It makes me realize how old I am getting. I will be 37 in a few months. I think this might be the first time I considered someone in their 40s to be hot. It is making me feel old.
What is the oldest age that you personally feel comfortable with calling a person hot?

Age doesn’t matter as much as one could think it would when it comes to attractiveness, but I don’t like using the word hot to describe a person’s physical appearance to begin with so I wouldn’t use it.

There is no age limit. I think it is a part of how you carry yourself as well. I’ve considered older men than me hot. I’d never date beyond 5 years though, but that is a personal preference.
You’re right, she is very good looking but also an amazing political leader with a track record of excellence. As for your question, I’ve seen women in their 50s who I would describe as “hot”.

I think Alan Rickman is hot, and so is Patrick Stewart, and they’re both probably around 60. I don’t think it matters. Though I do tend to say “sexy old man” instead of “hot old man.”
I don’t think there is an age limit to a person being attractive. Some men gain a distinguished look as they age.

But I am getting off the subject of how old… I guess it changes as a person ages. I am 47 and have seen women in their 60s who I think are hot. If this question had been put to me 15 years ago I would have probably answered early 40s,ask me again in 5-10 years and the answer is sure to change.

The oldest I’ll feel comfortable telling other people I think someone is hot is 30. Now if it’s just in my head or something then I don’t really have an age limit. If you’re hot, you’re hot.

Why is it sexist to say she’s an attractive woman? I know many a’ ladies who feel that Barack Obama is attractive, likewise with John McCain. I myself have a massive political crush on Bobby Kennedy, which is somewhat embarrassing and I don’t know why I just wrote that.
I just really hope less of the focus will be on the type of suit she is wearing.

She may be attractive, but when I read she is an evangelical Christian who opposes abortion rights and recently carried to term a child with down syndrome, that was a dealbreaker.
A baby with down syndrome can grow to be an adult who can enjoy life in their own way, sometimes being almost like anyone else BUT depending on how severe it is, in some cases we will never really know.

See I don’t think you can really put a number on how old someone can be before they stop being hot. My mom is 50 and she’s been told that she looks like my older sister (and I look YOUNG) and it’s just a genetic trait of ours. She could technically be called hot by someone who even thinks she’s like 35… but she’s 50. So I think it’s all dependant on the person.
Plastic surgery has changed everything. You never saw really good looking women in their 50′s & 60′s before. Raqael Welch still looked pretty good the last picture I saw of her. She must be around 70.
It all depends on how good you have aged, You can be considered hot at any age.
And a note about the “saying she’s attractive is sexist” meme. Not so. Saying she’s attractive is a complement. Saying that as a woman she only has worth because of her looks: that’s sexist.

As for the age question. Men have an almost annoying tendency to get better looking as they get older. I know they’re not your average “Joes,” but Brad Pitt and George Clooney look better than they did in their 20′s. Clooney’s got to be closing in on 50.

I don’t think you can compare most movie stars or just famous people because there are so many things they do to make themselves LOOK younger. I’d love to see what some of these stars that are in their 60′s and over that still look great,would look like without all the face lifts and whatever else they do. I have seen some that I know in their upper 60′s that haven’t had anything done that look awefully nice.

The term ‘hot’ in itself is a very broad and generic term and way overexposed – no pun, u know…There’s no accounting for taste out there, as they say. Hey, if you feel like you are hot and got it goin on, then work that self confidence enjoy your life. Women doing things they really want to do in their heart are the happiest in the world. There’s someone out their for everyone, and as far as having a man show some interest in me. Well, I digress, but funny story. My mom who passed away in Feb 2008 at 85 looked no older than 65. Consistently 20 years or so off her real age. That seems to be heriditary – woooo hoooo!!! – The point is that while she was in assissted living she caused a ‘scandal’ at the old folks home. Some random guy got into her bed in the night and they were kissing. She became the hottest chick there. We are so focused on younger people as couples with passion, but there are many oplder couples with just as much if not more passion. So I can’t pin it down to ‘hey you reach 55 you are soooo not hot anymore’ It’s individual taste and an open mind.

Eh. I think the word “hot” is waaaaay overrated. People put too much stock in physical attractiveness. So I don’t really have an answer. Morgan freeeman is over 70 now but I think he’s good looking. I also think Harrison Ford, Hugh Laurie, and Gary Sinise are all good looking, and they’re all over 50. (Well, Hugh Laurie is 49.) Then again, I like older men. My husband is 9 years older than I am.

But seriously, your criticism is unfair. Genetric screening for Down’s Syndrome isn’t standard procedure. The various screenings itself carries risks for the fetus and have relatively high false-positive rates.

I don’t know, I don’t think age really matters when it comes to recognizing another individual’s attractiveness. My boyfriend’s Dad is turning 51 this year and he looks just like my boyfriend (only with grayer hair and a fewer wrinkles, though he does not have many in the first place). He has a very George Clooney-esque look to him; very distinguished. I would call George Clooney hot, therefore my bf’s dad is hot.

Age is not an issue. Lots of women today strive to look younger than they actually are, until a day arrives when their faces collapse under the weight of all the Botox and facetucks and all that.
