at this point it seems to be my only consideration.
of course. If the president dies/can’t fulfill his task, the VP has to step up!!
Yes. If anything would happen to the president, you don’t want some dink swooping in and taking over. lol That’s my…uh….informal view and an inarticulate one at that!
Certainly. They have to be ready to step in at any time.
I think you should consider which vp is hotter and then make your decison based upon that.
Somewhat.
Yes. Especially since one of the candidates is the oldest presidential candidate with a history of skin cancer and other health issues.
V.P.’s sometimes, when the unthinkiable happens, can be a surprise. Harry S. Truman and Theodore Roosevelt are proof of that.
If the VP is so darned important we the people should be voting for that office too.
not necessarily. I never remember it being this big a deal before. All I know is, Joe Biden has been on the Daily Show before and I always thought he was kewl.
Well….yeah! If something happens to the President, do you want someone who is clueless to come in and take over the country
Not really. But sometime the choice can reveal the real priorities of Presidential candidate.
Obama runs a campaign of “change”. Picks Biden, a Senator entrenched in Washington for 36 years who’s never rocked the boat.
McCain runs a campaign of reform. Picks Palin, a woman who blew the whistle on corruption even though it was in her own party, beat the corrupt incumbent governor then cleaned things up in the government.
To a certian degree, but essentially it is who is the most qualified at the top of the ticket and that is definately McCain over Obama.
In my eyes the hot topic concerning the VP is who can handle a gun better. We don’t want a repeat of shooting people in the face from the DA we have now. It does not matter if you are blue or red. You CAN NOT say that he is NOT a DA. He SHOT someone in the face for crying out loud.
We were all hockey moms tonight. Palin Power!
@UnworthyofHisgrace - If the VP is going to be exceedingly important from here on, I want no package deals. Let us vote for the president AND the vice president- SEPARATELY. Then those who like Palin but not McCain could vote for her but not him, and those who like McCain but not Palin (must be some) could vote for him and not her. We could pick both the president AND the possible future president- rather than letting government choose for us.
Personally, I consider Biden dull. He’s okay, but uninspiring. If I could vote for Obama and for a more energizing Democrat as VP, that would be fine.
Americans didn’t used to vote for senators. Now we do. Why not expand democracy and the people’s power over their government further?
yes, it is important.
BTW I believe Biden is more capable to handle the presidency in case of a national emergency.
@fullmetalbunny - I’ve always wondered that, but just got the ‘silly dumbgirl’ look and never any answer when I asked in Grade School…
Yes.
we dont get to choose the VP. It is completely based on the judgment of the Presidential nominee. That choice should be scrutinized. With that, is McCain’s choice sound?
No. I remember conservative Christians thought Walter Mondale was the antichrist when he was a senator back in the 70s. Being vice president rendered him completely powerless. Seriously, how many VPs can you name?
Absolutely! Especially when you consider how OLD McCain is, but also given the random acts that occur on this planet every day. who is to say Obama is less-like to have a stroke or heart-attack than McCain…it can happen to anyone at anytime.
I anticipate McCain making a statement that he is only running for 1 term and that he’s setting the tone for Palin to follow up with running for prez in 2012.
I could see how it would be influential, but really, they’re just a figurehead.
@fullmetalbunny - I haven’t been that crazy about Mccain, but Obama is the worst person to lead our Country. To me.Palin will straighten McCain out
Somewhat the vice president rarely does much of anyhting. As to experience, yes she has a lot more of that than Obama
John McCain has finally impressed me, by picking Palin as a running mate
I’d like to be elected vice president, just because I wouldn’t have to do anything, but would still have tons of bodyguards so that I can stay alive and continue to not do anything.
P.S. In the history of the U.S., only four Presidents have died of natural causes while in office and only four Vice Presidents have gone on to be elected President.
Of course it’s important and I definitely think it should be a major consideration; your choice in a VP directly reflects your character. You think the VP just gets picked and when the president goes into office, he doesn’t consult him/her? If your VP is a fool, most likely the president will make several (or more) foolish mistakes, listening to the advice of the VP. They go hand-in-hand, practically.
absolutely, considering the proximity of the vice president ascending to the presidency. but, it should be a bigger consideration too considering how the vice-president’s role has expanded
@saintvi - Life expectancy today in America is also 77 years. -David
I think so. Isn’t the VP the president of the senate? I can’t remember which branch it is.
Speaking of presidents…I’m watching Home Improvement where Al calls the president of Binford, “Mr. President.” Hahaha.
The nominee for president is my main concern, and Obama definitely concerns me.
I want to know how being the mayor of some small town is more experience then being the president of the Harvard law review…..
How much you wanna bet McCain hits on Palin before the campaign is over?
Nah, not really.
@Direshark - Congratulations. You have found one person in Alaska that hates her. It’s no surprise that someone who’s taken on and beaten the establishment has made some enemies.
How do most Alaskans, who have known her and been “vetting” her for several years, feel about her?
Approval rating: 86%, the highest of any current governor “Strongly favorable”: 63% Approval among Republicans: 97% Approval among Democrats: 75%
Yes but half the time the V.P ends up running the next election. Why does Sarah Palin have to part of the Republic and not the Jedi?
@LarsThunder - Say it with me: “Governor Palin”. The “mayor” meme Obama started is a lie of omission. As governor Palin has overseen an organization of 15,000 employees and a budget of $11 billion for the purpose of serving the needs of hundreds of thousands of residents.
Obama’s most impressive organization: 2,500 employees and spending that may reach over $200 million for the purpose of self-promotion. Of course every campaign is self-promotion, but you’d like at least one thing in a candidate’s background that’s more impressive.
duh. what if something happens to the pres?
Somewhat, but not exactly.
In the case for Mccain yes because at such an old age he could buy the farm so its a realistic possibility that Palin could step in…
And is the case for many presidents the possibility of getting assassinated is there so its important you have someone who could do the job in 2nd place…
@randomneuralfirings - Say it with me – Mayor Palin left her hometown in a deficit bigger than when she was first elected. $20 million in debt, to be exact. A town of less than 9,000. $20 million in the hole. Say it with me – journalism degree from University of Idaho. Govenor Palin has not even completed two years as Govenor.
Now say it with me – Senator Obama served the Illinois senate for 7 years and the US Senate for 2+ years. He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in political science and graduated from Harvard Law school magna cum laude while serving as the president of the Harvard Law Review.
Yeah, I don’t know how I could have thought that Senator Obama has more experience than Govenor Palin. My bad.
@trunthepaige - …As to experience, yes she has a lot more of that than Obama
I don’t know how much “experience” a person can get from being on the city council of an obscure Alaskan town.
Not a major consideration, but it is a factor, since the VP could potentially come the next president (this might apply more to presidential candidates who seem like they only have 2-3 years left in them *cough hint *cough). The VP also has the tie breaking vote in the Senate, so that can be of some importance. Overall, since the presidential candidate and the vp candidate will most likely have similar views on the role of government (at least, more similar then the opposing candidate) than I don’t really understand how a VP candidate could sway a person’s vote in either direction.
Do you think the vice president should be a major consideration in who you vote for to be president?
I think it’s an obvious factor in the weighing of issues and personalities of the Presidential candidates. Ultimately, though, the identity and advocacies of the VP’s take a back seat to their running mates.
Yeah, he is- though while he’s officially suppose to preside over the Senate, from what I remember learning, he rarely does that role, usually the president pro temp is in charge of presiding over senate sessions. VP gets must of his power from informal powers, as well as how much the president wishes to use, rely, and confide in him.
And i just realized I wrote everything in the last paragraph using he/him. Guess that shouldn’t be the automatic assumption anymore.
I could honestly care less about the personalities of either presidential candidates or their chosen running mate. The candidate with the most similar views on the role of government as me is the person I prefer, whether they are an unlikeable asshole or not (I mean an arguement could be made that they might not be able to be effective at all as president if they are completely unlikeable, but not too many people would be even able to run for president if no one could stand them).
@randomneuralfirings - Well, I guess that makes two people. I’m from Alaska. I’m not contesting her approval ratings. Allow me to make a hypothesis, however. I think that most Alaskans approval ratings come from the fact that she’s always trying to give more to our dividends. Like our new energy 1200$ addition was completely made by Palin (she’s redistributing the oil wealth to the citizens, great and everything, but I think it would do better as an investment into alternative energy). I don’t really ever hear much about her other than that (and the power abuse scandal she’s in right now) and the common man wasn’t always hearing about our past governors either. So, in that sense, I think people like her for the wrong reasons – because she can afford to just give us money. Anyway, read that article. It fully details the politician she is. She just doesn’t strike me as an anti-corruption candidate at all. -David
It is now.
maybe 30% important to me
@huginn - Don’t be a moron she had that job when Obama was walking around asking people if they had registered to vote or wanted to sign a petition.”community organizer”. After that (and much more) she became the governor of the entire state. While Obama did nothing but campaign for president. He has not actually done anything as senator, he has hardly even been in his office. Palin not only has been doing her job as Governor, but over 70% of the democrats in her state say she is doing a good job. When her opposition says she is good, there is no point arguing about it.
Obama is joke who has a talent for self promotion and reading off a TelePrompter. Pretty words of self promotion and little more
Considering that McCain is a time-traveling warrior from the future, it only makes sense that his VP choice is way more important than Obama’s.
After all, he is covered in invisible radioactive nacho cheese that allows him to transcend time and space.
It’s pretty lame how you lead into your poorly constructed arguments with a personal attack.
I would accept these jibes as semantic flavoring if you really had something neat to say– but you almost never do; and you don’t here.
she had that job when Obama was walking around asking people if they had registered to vote or wanted to sign a petition.”community organizer”.
No one will argue the fact of the matter. I just question the value and relevance of serving on the city council of a small Alaskan town with population 5,000. My home town, a California suburb of little importance, has a population nearly twenty-fold Palin’s “city”.
In this same time period (mid-90′s), Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law at University of Chicago. The Constitution, I ‘reckon, is a piece of document any President should be cognizant of.
He has not actually done anything as senator, he has hardly even been in his office.
This is a natural concequence of campaigning for the United States Presidency. How long has Palin been in office? I doub that she’d do much governing of her state now that she’s McCain’s running mate.
Palin not only has been doing her job as Governor, but over 70% of the democrats in her state say she is doing a good job.
Awsome! All this shows is that Palin does a good job representing Alaskan interest; and that within her own state, she’d win a popularity contest aroudn the time the poll was taken. Direshark gives a good story as to why she’s well-liked, and it has nothing to do with her political or administrative competance:
yeah. what if the president dies? they’re old. it might happen.
yes…
@huginn - Wow he was teacher as well, lets make him president. Running a small town is more experience actually running something than has had in his entrie life. In his own words he thinks running a campaign counts. Sure I would hire him as a campaign manager. wait a minute he has one of those, that means he is not even running the campaign is he
And one guy from Alaska gives a excuse for overwhelming popularity and I am suppose to buy it, get real
I insulted you because your position deserves no respect. If Palin is unqualified then Obama is even less so. and he is the one running for president not her.
@trunthepaige - Wow he was teacher as well, lets make him president.
I’ll copy/paste what you’ve glossed over: “In this same time period (mid-90′s), Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law at University of Chicago. The Constitution, I ‘reckon, is a piece of document any President should be cognizant of.”
As you can see, I referenced particularily the content of Obama’s profeossorship; and not just him being “teacher.”
Running a small town is more experience actually running something than has.
Beautiful claim! Now, let’s see if your brain can muster a justification. Explain how serving in the city council (not running) a small town can confer special experiences relevant to VP-ship.
And one guy from Alaska gives a excuse for overwhelming popularity and I am suppose to buy it, get real
Direshark provides a plausible explaination as to Palin’s popularity. Annual rebates on the scale of a thousand plus dollars sounds nice.
I insulted you because your position deserves no respect.
Then insult the argument and not the person. Calling an argument stupid is very different than calling the Xangan moronic.
You’re old enough, smart enough, and informed enough to not muddle your arguments with ad hom. attacks. Please don’t.
with McCain’s old age and Obamas likelihood of being shot, yeah, i would say that the VP is pretty important.
no, all VP does is running around with a gun anyway - shoot baby shoot
do consider what type of rifle they carry tho
The vice president (with some exceptions like Cheney) is probably the least important position there is! So, no. Except for McCain, the fact is even though he probably will live another 20 years, there is a large chance he could die too. In which case Palin becomes President. So if you can’t see her becoming President that should influence your vote.
The president dies, or gets sick, or something, who takes the post? The VP. So yeah, the VP is important.
yes, but it should never be the deciding factor in the choice of who to vote for. that choice should be based on the policies and values of the candidate.
Yes. And with McCain’s age and health he invited even more scrutiny upon himself…
@whataboutbahb - oh yes, I forgot about the president pro temp. Too many things to remember from gov. class. And it’s only been about 5 years, I should’ve remembered.
no doubt the commander in chief television series has prepared us for what we witnessed tonight. mark my words, she will be an outstanding partner in the next administration
Should play a minor role.
You need to consider who the VP is, as well, IMO. One should also see what the choice a candidate made for VP says about the candidate himself…
Oh! and it looks like Ms. Palin had the best of both worlds! She wore part of her hair up and part down…
right now the race should be between obama and palin. who knows when the old guy would kick the bucket?
Definately…
Absolutely. I’m liking Palin more and more. I don’t want more of the same, no matter what party. I want someone NOT from the Washington crowd.
It will be for me.
Yes.
I was considering voting McCain, until he chose Palin as VP.
Now I am forced to vote for that clown Obama. It is that serious.
When the presidential candidate is in his 70s, YES.
@huginn - Your argument is weak right from the mouth of the Obama’s campaign staff. she was “only” a council person when obama was only a teacher and signature go getter. Her position kept rising until she was Governor of the state. Obama has never actually served in such a position.
it is nice that he was a high end teacher, but that what he was. That “plausible explanation” might explain some of her popularity, but her’s is running just short of 90%.
If you were trying to say their experience level was equal I would mildly disagree and drop it. but your opinion is idiotic and not even your own position. I saw the exact same put up the picture reply on the news being done by a Obama hack
Of course. They are required to step in if anything should happen to the President. It’s like an understudy. You don’t belong there if you can’t do the job you’re prepping for.
Nope.
Yes. I was pretty sure about McCain before he picked Sarah Palin but after learning more about her, I’m totally 100% sure. They both have my vote and if she ever runs for president, she’ll get my vote again.
Of course it should matter because the guy you are voting into office to be president is not immortal.
Absolutely. Look what happened when JFK got assassinated.
It definitely plays an important role. Who takes the presidency if something should happen to the Pres.? …And let’s not forget that holding VP in a successful administration can give one a much stronger shot at being the Pres. in a following election.
@mzsusan - How do you know? Maybe he survived this long because he IS immortal? (cue dramatic music) haha!
I’m voting for the Libertarian Party. I don’t like either candidate for president OR vice president.
@trunthepaige - Your argument is weak right from the mouth of the Obama’s campaign staff. she was “only” a council person when obama was only a teacher and signature go getter.
Are you fucking incapable of making an actual argument? You never really touch the particulars of my argument. All you do is rehash your position.
Her position kept rising until she was Governor of the state. Obama has never actually served in such a position.
Your initial argument was that Palin had more “experience” than Obama. I said “no,” since her time on the city council of an Alaskan town is neglgiable. The town is smaller than all cities in Los Angeles County, and particularily 20 times smaller than my own humble suburb. There are city councilmen galore with this same sort of experience. It’s nothing special or useful. You never quite rebutted this point.
That’s wonderful for her. But you’ll note that all prominent politicians start out small and only incrementally move up. Obama just happened to travel a different path: Law practice –> State Legislature –> Senate.
it is nice that he was a high end teacher, but that what he was. That “plausible explanation” might explain some of her popularity, but her’s is running just short of 90%.
It’s momentary popularity. You’d recall that another Republican, Richard Nixon enjoyed high approval ratings during and won by a landside in his second elecion. It didn’t end too well for him, did it?
but your opinion is idiotic and not even your own position
I sat in my chair and came up with the position on my own. It’s an obvious argument, and it’s only natural that people smarter than me and more informed than me have arrived to the same ideas.
If it’s idiotic, then you haven’t even begun to show how. You’re too fucking pathetic to make actual arguments. All you’re doing is standing around and rewording your damn thesis. It’s pretty sad, really.
Yes it is important to me..
Of course! John McCain is flippin’ OLD and it’s not completely irrational to think he might die while in office, which would make Palin the new president… which in my opinion, would be a complete disaster. Not only is this woman not qualified, but she has hard core conservative views on things that could be detrimental.
For example, she’s gung ho about abstinence only education, (and no abortions in any circumstances, not even rape or incest. WTF!?). Not to mention that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant… so she couldn’t even enforce abstinence only in her own house, and now thinks she can enforce it in the entire country? Uh…. brilliant. Not.
I’m really desperately hoping that people don’t put another conservative in the office… please please please do your research everyone!
@LarsThunder - Well, lets put it this way…Obama has more experience serving himself,Palin has more experience serving OTHERS.Thats what a politician SHOULD be doing, serving others. What blinds folks like you to this is beyond me!
@mariqueenofscots - Same here. The only reason I even like Mccain a little is because he chose Sarah.
YES!!!!!!!! remember when kennedy died? or when nixon was impeached? or when garfield died? or when lincoln was shot? yeah who was the person who was expected to take over? the VICE-PRESIDENT!!!!!!! in the case of an emergency the VP must act as president so that makes them a HUGE consideration when voting!
@Carolina17 - WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! don’t you know what happens when a president dies? research when kennedy was killed it may provide insight to why a VP is just as important as a president/
Yes, it’s as important because if the presidentis not available it’s the VP who’s getting the seat, almost automatically.
@LarsThunder - thank you for this nice succinct comment. i think it is what more people need to read.
yes, i must agree. the vice president pick should be considered.
Honestly, it shouldn’t be so much of a top priority and that big of an issue like everyone is making of it. The role of the Vice President isn’t really that significant, until something happens with the president, however.
I’d rather focus on the current issues and policies of the current presidential nominee than his running mate.
Yes it should be–that’s all I’m going to say.
Okay, I lied. CaucasianChopstix, it DOES matter greatly what VP you elect for exactly that reason! If the President dies, do you want a VP in the white house that has no idea WHAT they’re doing? I know I wouldn’t! Yes, focus on the presidential candidate and what they stand for, but know, in the back of your mind, that their running mate could hurt this country more than help it, should something happen to the President. That is definitely something to consider.
Major? Not in my opinion. Something to consider, but not major. Their choice for VP can tell you quite a bit about the presidential candidate though.
Not usually, but in this case I think a lot of people are reconsidering voting for McCain because of his V.P. choice, especially because he is so old so there is more of a chance something could happen to him than Obama.
Absolutely. That person is going to be president if something happens to the other one– impeachment, death, serious illness, etc.
I probably will be a major consideration. I think that some people may vote for McCain who otherwise would not have. It sounds like Palin has the “mic” appeal and is photogenic and telegenic, which McCain lacks a little in these areas. Plus she is really very down home, down to earth, not at all an elitist, with a family almost everyone can relate to. People feel like they know her, but we don’t really know Joe Biden even though his name is better known. McCain made a bold choice, and I think it may help him, but nothing is for sure.
I have to say I hope that the candidates will start to discuss substantive issues and ideas and get off the personalities and ideologies. Everyone knows one big reason McCain picked Palin is her ultraconservative credentials. Where would McCain and Palin take our country if they are elected, that is what we need to hear. Where would Obama and Biden take our country if he is elected? We really need to know some things before this election has more meaning than “an historic moment”, although that is important as well.
@UnworthyofHisgrace - Thanks for proving my point on many levels. I didn’t call anyone names, did I? I don’t agree with you and therefore I’m blind? That’s the Christian way, right? To call people names when they don’t agree with your viewpoint?
Please explain to me how leaving a town of less than 9,000 people $20 million in debt is helping them. They weren’t $20 million in debt when she started.
I would suspect you don’t like Obama because he is very liberal and you are not. That is a fair reason for not liking a candidate. It is not, however, a good reason to be led to believe things that aren’t true.
Explain to me how a socially conservative party like the Republicans can overlook the fact that John McCain cheated on his first wife and still call him a stand-up man. He cheated on his wife, a fact that conservatives crucified Bill Clinton for. All I ask is for some consistency. John McCain came back from Vietnam and found that his first trophy wife was no longer beautiful and in need of a great deal of physical care. So, how does this up right man respond? Cheats on her with a much younger woman. It’s a proven fact. It can’t be denied. Please explain this to me.
I wish people would put aside their personal beliefs and actually look at the facts. It would clear so many things up.
dan I know you think palin is hot
I personally believe biden is SMOKIN. everyone in this campaign is gorgeous but mccain
Well.. considering that lots of people think Obama are going to get shot. (It wouldn’t the first president who cared about minorities who got shot)
and lots of people are also considering the fact that McCain’s age gives him more chance of dying while he’s still elected as president…
So let’s say our president, whoever is he has a chance of dying.. so yes, the VP is very important.
yes.
It startled me today that Barack Might Get ASSASSINATED. I mean, its very likely don’t you think?! … I think Biden is OK. I hope he does not die, Barack dying would really kill me…
@LarsThunder - Well, I’m not into the figures quite like you I guess, but just because the town was left $20 million in debt doesn’t mean it was all her fault,IF the $20 million is a true fact. Could it possibly be it was because of others that were corrupting the Gov there that caused this problem, were YOU there and KNOW all the facts.I don’t,I can only go by what I see her doing now.And I would also say if you got this from the major news networks, I myself wouldn’t trust it.But thats me.About you saying I was name calling, how is saying someone is blind to whats going on name calling? Gee weez bud, you REALLY need to lighten up. It seems everytime we have an arguement here too, that you bring up Christianity when Christianity was never even brought up. You have a deep hatred of Christianity I can only presume. About McCain, I have never cared for McCain as a candidate at all.I was hoping for Thompson/Huckabee ticket myself. If McCain acted in this way you say then I certainly don’t agree with it. The difference between Clinton though is he has always been that way, and it would not surprise me at all if he was still cheating on Hillary. I don’t see that in McCain now at all. I have to tell you though, about Palin, if anyone can read about the life that she has had, the struggles, the things she has accomplished and not admire her and think she would be GOOD for the country just plain does not understamd servanthood.Since YOU brought up Christianity, THATS what Christianity is all about, serving as Christ did.I make plenty of mistakes and I’m sure you do too.Hopefully we all do our best with the opprtunies that are put in front of us. I try, but still screw up.It’s part of learning and growing. I see an incredible Godly woman in Palin who will NOT bow down to big Gov. She will do what is right and hold McCains feet to the fire when needed. If you think I was name calling by saying McCain/Palin are servants and Obama/Bidon want to be served, then I guess I was name calling then. Thats how I see them come across. Even with the glitch you have mentioned about McCain cheating on his first wife, which was quite a while back, I’d say the character of McCain/Palin far outweighs that of Obama/Bidon . Character matters greatly in leadership.
@UnworthyofHisgrace - The thing is – I consider myself a wonderful Christian. I don’t hate Christianity or those who consider themselves non-Christians. What I do take opinion with are people who use their faith or belief to justify their stance toward others. I’m right and your wrong because the Bible says I’m right. That is a discussion for another time.
As for trying to figure out who is more ready and derserving to serve between the two tickets – there honestly is no way to prove it. I see you telling me that Palin is an upright and wonderful person because of her life and where she has come from. I tell you that Obama is an upright person because of the life he has lived and the obstacles he has overcome. How can you tell me that I’m wrong and your right? How can I tell you that you’re wrong and I’m right? What gives you (or me) the right to judge someone else’s life in that regard?
@UnworthyofHisgrace - Oh, and Sen. McCain has been accused of cheating on his wife (Cindy, the one he cheated on his first wife with) as recently as 6 months ago. If you can say that Bill has always been that way – you best be ready to say the same about McCain.
Difference is, Bill couldn’t sweep his under the rug fast enough. McCain’s has been left alone until it will prove most beneficial to the those who need it.
Yes.
I think so. But really, tell the truth… do you keep coming up with random questions just so you can post pictures of Palin? For real….
Not as much as which President I want to vote for. The answer to your question is no.
I’m kind of scared for her…Biden is going to smoooosh her in the debates.
Considering that we don’t really have the best candidates for top P, we need the vp to step it up.
People didn’t mention this yet, but I am pretty certain that President’s have picked VPs to complement their own achievement and to increase appeal. McCain is seen as old and stuffy and his party is the “old rich white guy party” so why not have the zesty female governor of a politically obscure state like Alaska as VP. Obama’s main deficit is his lack of experience. Slap on ol Mr. Biden to add some years of experience. Obama would naturally appeal to Black voters and the younger voters just from profile alone, so having a woman VP on is a great way to draw female voters.
Clearly she is to you.
yes =)
It really shouldnt but it will be for most people.
@Legendairy - lol… he did survive his POW experience.
@mzsusan - AND his 90-something year-old mother is still alive! Maybe he gets it from her hehe!
Yes.
“… a heartbeat from the Presidency.”
Now think of how many Vice-Presidents in history have succeeded to the Oval Office.
Comments (131)
at this point it seems to be my only consideration.
@fullmetalbunny - We do vote for them….together
Major, no. But it should be a consideration.
when you’re as old as McCain, yes.
Yes I do. They have power too
To a certian degree, but essentially it is who is the most qualified at the top of the ticket and that is definately McCain over Obama.
@randomneuralfirings - http://www.andrys.com/palin-kilkenny.html
-David
@awokenfatality - LOL!!!!!!!!
Approval rating: 86%, the highest of any current governor
“Strongly favorable”: 63%
Approval among Republicans: 97%
Approval among Democrats: 75%
Biden can do it… Palin definitely not.
@mariqueenofscots - Same here.
@mkenyon719 -
Yeah, he is- though while he’s officially suppose to preside over the Senate, from what I remember learning, he rarely does that role, usually the president pro temp is in charge of presiding over senate sessions. VP gets must of his power from informal powers, as well as how much the president wishes to use, rely, and confide in him.
And i just realized I wrote everything in the last paragraph using he/him. Guess that shouldn’t be the automatic assumption anymore.
@huginn -
I could honestly care less about the personalities of either presidential candidates or their chosen running mate.
Allow
me to make a hypothesis, however. I think that most Alaskans approval
ratings come from the fact that she’s always trying to give more to our
dividends. Like our new energy 1200$ addition was completely made by
Palin (she’s redistributing the oil wealth to the citizens, great and everything, but I think it would do better as an investment into alternative energy). I don’t really ever hear much about her other than that (and the
power abuse scandal she’s in right now) and the common man wasn’t
always hearing about our past governors either. So, in that sense, I
think people like her for the wrong reasons – because she can afford to just give us money.
@trunthepaige - Don’t be a moron…
@Direshark -
yeah. what if the president dies? they’re old. it might happen.
If you were trying to say their experience level was equal I would
mildly disagree and drop it. but your opinion is idiotic and not even
your own position.
@stargazerlillikat - You’re welcome.
Clearly she is to you.
yes =)
‘Nuff said.
