I might, if I had a house. But then again…what would be the point? The McCain signs in our neighborhood just get stolen.

We’ve had so many Obama volunteers coming to our door…. hmm… maybe if we put 100 McCain signs in our yard, they would leave us alone. We’ve already voted people!
Grammy put a McCain/Palin sign in our yard. I don’t care one way or the other, I know who I’m voting for.

Never! What’s the point in having a secret ballot if we’re going to put signs in our yard and buttons on our clothes? It’s nobody else’s business who I vote for. The only people I’d ever share that information with are my husband and daughter.

Only if it were something I really, really cared about. Of all the political issues that have come up since I was about 16, there’s only been one that I cared enough about to want to publicize my opinion on the matter.

There’s an Obama campaign sign outside of the chem building at my school, covered in this goo that causes blistering and itching if you touch it. There’s a sign next to it warning about it. Ah chem students and their painful goos.

I’d probably put it in my window. People put signs and write on their windows here at school. I like Sarah Palin, but this is funny: someone wrote in huge letters with the stuff that comes off with soap “SARAH PALIN SUCKS.” It’s right in front and everyone and their mom can see it when driving by or walking into the building.

I don’t have a yard of my own, but I did ask my mom at one point if I could take the spray paint and some cardboard to leave a Nader sign up in her yard…For some odd reason she told me no….

This doesn’t really answer the question, but my mom overheard two white male co-workers previously from Arkansas complaining about their property value decreasing due to someone putting an Obama sign in their yard.
They called the cops.
One of the males even decided to move because a black man moved into their neighborhood.

Sure, there is some pride and satisfaction in such an outwardly display; but it would also make me a target. People care passionately about politics, and it’s not impossible for the asshole to come around and throw a rock through my window (or liklier: steal or damage the sign).
I thought about it for if nothing else the doctors office across the street has the opposite of the way I would vote… so just to mess with them

I love that we’re so laid back and don’t have to worry about crazy people and their overly political opinions. We HAVE to vote here. We go, usually boch a vote, go home, have a beer to toast that it’s over and we don’t have to worry about it for another four years.

But there isn’t supposed to be any soliciting either, and we seem to get a lot of that from churches and Obama campaign people.
Apparently, only the McCain campaign people know how to follow the law. That and only they can read apparently. There is a GIANT sign at the entrance to the apartments that reads “NO SOLICITING”
I have one up on my corner lot. Fortunately, none of the jerks on the other side have removed, trampled, or painted it like they’ve done many, many McCain signs all over my work territory.

Do you know what comes with making your neighbors angry? Mysterious key-like markings on your car, bags of animal waste on your front porch, toilet paper strung on all the foliage… although it probably depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in, I guess.
We would, but they’re $5 at the local campaign office and we didn’t have any cash handy, so we told them we’d put them on a busy street if they gave them to us for free. Then the signs were stolen off of the street due to my bad political sign karma.

I would have to say that I agree with saintvi. If you post who your voting for then it really isn’t a secret ballot. I think that people do that just to take sides. No wonder the country is split in half.

Most certainly if I had a yard. I’m not allowed to display political signs in my current apartment complex, but at my last place I put a sign in my window for ’06.
I’m having a hard time this political cycle because I can’t discuss politics at work or display anything that could influence clients. The joys of being paid with federal money….

@firetyger - I have the same problem. And McCain/Palin signs cost five bucks apiece! But I maintain them at my house and around the neighborhood anyway. I’m not about to let the Obama Punks get away with that.
Hint: Put your signs in a place that’s not easily accessible from the road, but still visible to passing traffic. The O.P.s usually pick a time after dark to cruise around and take any GOP signs that they can jump out, grab and drive away with easily and quickly. Sort of like robbing a liquor store… which they likely do when politics doesn’t intervene! Besides, if Obama gets elected, they’ll be on easy street. (Pun intended!)
One other thing. I always respect the other guy’s signs if they do the same. If others take your signs and put up their own in it’s place, don’t feel disinclined to do likewise. These people count on our sense of fair play to get over, because they themselves have none. All the more reason why they shouldn’t be allowed power over decent people. A cause is defined by the worth of its adherents.
If I could afford a yard! I currently live in a small one bedroom apartment to care for my sick Mother… it is hard with working full time and taking care of her. I usually have to spend money on her medications because she can’t afford to buy them on her own. It Sucks! But I dod what I have to so….
I have one… McCain/Palin… nobody messes with it because we live in a very conservative part of town.
I have in the past, but I gave it up when I realized what a division it causes amongst neighbors. I can have my own opinion; I don’t need to force it on someone else with a piece of cardboard. If they really want to know why I vote the way I do, then we can have a discussion about it.
