  • How Did You Find Out Obama Won?

I was reading a pulse a few minutes ago and the person mentioned they found out on xanga that Obama had won instead of some news source.

How did you find out that Obama was elected our next president?

  • This morning on the newstation.

  • i watched it with my BFN chat buddies ….

  • WHAT???? FIRST!  WOW-WOW-WUBBZY!

  • I found out from you, Dan.

  • Psychic revelations.

  • When I woke up and checked the news this morning. When I went to bed at eight not enough was in.

  • hah. i found out through xanga too. i tell ya, folks here faster than CNN and Reuters put together!

  • This morning on a text service on the television.

  • watched the news and website announcements last night

  • WHAT?!?!  He did?!?!  NOOOOOO!!!!

  • I broke my vow of not watching tv on election night.

  • last nite on TV before the polls closed in california…smile

  • I flipped on the radio in the car on the way home.

Suddenly the radio personality said we had some breaking news from the election. I expect to hear who was ahead, but instead she announced McCain was giving his resignation speech.

I was stunned. I think I said “NO!” out loud. And then listened. I turned off the radio when the crowd started shouting “We love John! We love John!” or something to that effect. I had to roll my eyes.

I turned the radio to the classical station, because they weren’t playing the speech.

My Dad announced it when I got home, my brother, who is only 11 announced it, my Mother announced it, and then told me the new president was on television giving his speech. I told her I didn’t care.

I have four years to learn all about this man. One speech saying “Yahoo I’m president.” isn’t going to change much. Besides, it’s “history” now. I can always look it up later.

  • Out on a date and a Xanga pulse came in on my cell phone

  • When I saw the moon turn red…..

  • Indecision 2008 with Jon Stewart!

  • I was at the San Jose Democratic National Convention…stealing crackers from the buffet.

  •  from the news…on t.v.

  • My husband whispered it in my ear before he left for work at 6am. I’m assuming he learned from our local news.

  • nothing strange or unusual–on tv last night with a bazillion other people…

  • @fugu62 - Ha. That was a much better way to watch all the election coverage going on!!

  • My roommate and I were watching the Colbert/Stewart collaboration and at the end, Stewart said, “so as of 11 PM tonight, President Elect is Barack Obama” or whatever and Colbert was giving his closing remarks about how the western states had only JUST closed so that who knew what was going to happen and Stewart interrupted him to say something like, “CNN IS REPORTING THAT OUR NEW PRESIDENT IS BARACK OBAMA!” and then Colbert pretty much cried.

When that happened, I ran back to my bedroom and sure enough all three election maps were projecting a Barack Obama win. :)

  • watched it on tv…i think i was watching abc at the  time, maybe fox.

  • C and I were watching the footage all night…but I’ve known for quite some time that he would win.

  • 6 different news channels on two TVs.  Plus MSNBC on the internet.

  • I was watching CNN streaming online and chatting in the BFN chat with other xangans

  • A friend texted me asking me to move with her to Mexico for the next 4 years.

  • MSNBC election coverage at an election party

  • I watched the news last night.  As soo as it was announced he was elected, I went to bed.

  • My friend from the campaign text messaged me, in all caps, “OBAMA WON!!!”
So I put on NPR to be sure he wasn’t lying to me.

  • From my little brother. I had left my parent’s room (where they were watching coverage of the election) and was just about falling asleep. When the phone rang I said to myself “who the hell is calling me at this hour?” It was my brother with the news. He was so sweet and excited that I forgave his waking me up to share the results with me.

    This was his first election!

  • Moritheil sent out a pulse saying “McCain conceded.” That’s how I learned.

  • CNN live stream online

  • My mom told me at 6:15-ish in the morning. I was too dazed and exhausted from yesterday, so I said, “Fuck it” and made breakfast.

  • I was watching it on TV last night.

  • Because I am living in Hong Kong and was working at the office, I kept camping on the Chicagotribune.com and cnn.com to track!

  • t was clear when Obama was ahead in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina, that he was going to win.  All of the polls had indicated that Obama would sweep the West Coast.  Ohio and Pennsylvania put him over the top.  Victories in other states while nice were not required to win the election.

  • I heard it on the radio in the morning.

  • When ABC news announced it as soon as the Western polls closed.

  • I was watching CCN live on stream. I wasn’t even on xanga. hahaha.

  • x a n g a . + m y   i n s t i n c t .

  • I had a nightmare

  • MSNBC. I was flipping and I saw they had the countdown till the west coast states polls closed to I counted down because they were already hinting towards the projection. It was exciting. :)

  • After checking via the text service,   I watched a news channel this morning, to find out more.

  • Paris Hilton told me so last night.

…Though I thought she’d said “come on,  hun.”

Oh well.  She was hot while THAT lasted.

  • cnn.com and peter jennings.

  • All of the Xanga pulses (I didn’t know that we’d know so early and thought I’d find out in the morning.) then I double-checked it.

  • On the t.v.
    I’ve never been so happy.

  • Hopefully he did not find out from YOUR xanga. I mean, the fact that he won is undeniable, but you distort pretty much everything when talking about Liberals.  Are you fan of Ann Coulter? You probably have all her books.

  • Went to the Chicago rally yesterday. I was watching the 60 second countdown as to the next projection…
It was 3…2….1…”Barack Obama is elected president.” Then screams and shouts and joyness galore. =D

  • I yelled from my bedroom for my sister to call the local radio station this morning.

  • watching ABC last night

  • I was watching the returns last night at a polling party.

  • CNN live radio at 11 something last night.

  • hearing dumb asses hooting and hollering and honking horns.

  • msn news. and well, yahoo.

  • On xanga. I got tired of watching the news anchors playing with their interactive “boards” and turned off the tv long before they called it. I did turn it back on in time to watch Obama’s speech and wonder whether DID was in that crowd.

  • I watched MSNBC when they announced it.

  • the ground shook in my dorms as i was trying to sleep. fireworks going off in a no fireworks county, and lots of people cheering.

Oh, and you might want to change your plug now. Something like, I would still jump in bed with Sarah Palin, even if it means going all the way to Alaska to do so. =-]

  • a little birdie told me.

  • Around 8:00 pm PST, I was furiously refreshing cnn.com on my laptop in class. As my professor was lecturing on mechanical manufacturing methods, CNN gave their official stamp of approval.

Later that night, I drove home a happy camper.

  • Some of my friends who went to the rally called me while I was sleeping… I got five calls in a row from different groups. I don’t think I was very coherent.

  • @In_Reason_I_Trust - Ann Coulter is hot. I would love to see her in a snuff film.

  • I actually watched it on CNN for like 2 hours…

  • I was watching the votes count up yesterday night, and they announced that Obama won.

  • I was at work, and one of the security guards out on the floor was keeping up with the elections on his phone. Suddenly at 10, he said simply, “Obama won.” Everyone around me was totally jumping up and down, screaming, and I ran around hugging a few people and going, “It’s frickin’ Barack!!!!”

  • I found out through Robert Kennedy’s speech 40 years ago… Just kidding, CNN live stream with my head phones on for 5 hours.

  • In Your Face Dan!!! In Your Face!!!

  • Uh, when the clearly-unbiased media outlets started calling it with 0.316% of precincts reporting.  I knew it was locked up then.

  • From Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

  • I was in my car listening to ABC.

  • msnbc’s live updates.  i stayed up late.

  • I found out a few weeks (or months ago) when the polls showed he had a significant lead.  However, I did not get the official lowdown until I fired up my computer at work and saw Yahoo’s headlines.

  • We were watching PBS for the election result last night.

  • I was there in Grant Park. We had tickets for the rally. The crowd counted down for the West Coast polls to close.  They announced Obama won, and there was a good minute or two of solid screaming.  It was awesome!

  • CNN after the Ohio results came in

  • i was at prince william county republican HQ…one of the mccain campign officials learned from the Board of Elections that we had lost prince william county, and therefore the entire state of virginia.

she said, “it’s over, i’m going home.”

  • What?  Obama won?  CRAP!

  • TheTheologiansCafe

  • 83rd!

  • A friend of mine screamed it over ventrillio. -.-

  • The second they announced it on TV.

  • When he won Ohio.

  • My friend told me, then I saw it announced on ABC.

  • Watched it on TV and had to hear my poker buddies cry endlessly about it.  I giggled.

  • I was watching msnbc non-stop last night. :P

  • I heard my residents screaming (in a happy way) in the hallway. I came out to make sure no one was dying and I wouldn’t have to clean it up, and found many people very happy and a few sulking. One girl’s reaction was: “I’m going to poop on Obama’s face.” Oh, college freshmen…

  • After midnight I heard some people yelling and screaming in excitement and figured it had something to do with the election so I popped up AOL or Yahoo and looked at the first headline.

  • Watching it as it was announced on television-crossing my fingers on the couch and hoping that he was the one that would be elected :)

  • On CNN when i saw that he had…104-34…After that, i didn’t follow it since i would just receive im’s about his domination.

  • When there was a ridiculous amount of running and screaming in my dorm hallway that led to people screaming “OBAMAAAAAAA!” outside.

Needless to say, there was much rejoicing in my liberal hippie school while I tried to hide under the blankets to a) ward off the nightmares and b) nurse a migraine.

  • I was watching the election returns on tv & had fallen asleep. My daughter blew-up my phone until she woke me! I was over the moon when she told me & I stayed awake to watch Obama’s speech…I’m SO glad he won! Now he can begin to clean up Dubya’s mess & re-establish the US’s credibility with the world.

  • Open browser -> click “New York Times” -> “OBAMA”

  • … I got a fuckload of IMs from friends about it once CNN announced it.

  • I watched in horror as it unfolded live on tv last night…

  • I was on the phone, heard a friend say that that was what it looked like, and got on CNN.

  • I was flipping through all the news channels last night when I found out.

  • I was covering the polls for my newspaper, and I heard from the people there who were checking msnbc.com throughout the night.

  • Glued to the television from beginning to end.

  • Well, when CNN called Ohio for Obama it seemed like it was in the bag, but it was on Indecision 2008 on Comedy Central that I first saw someone on TV say that they projected Obama to win. This was quickly confirmed for me by checking CNN.

  • Yahoo news and Facebook status’.

  • I wanted to find out by watching Indecision 2008, but I found out from ABC instead.

  • I was watching CNN when they declared him victorious. I didn’t believe it at the time, as many polls, including those in California, had yet to close. So I switched over to FOX news, and knew that he really was the winner if Rupert’s boys had declared him so.

  • news last night. i was up pretty freaking late.

  • Was pretty sure he would win when we found out the presidential candidate from each party. I found out yesterday when I heard it announced on comedy central from the TV in the other room though.

  • Last night, while looking at facebook.

  • I found out from you.  I was online and you posted that he had won.  I had to go to the TV and check.  So yeah, I can officially say I heard it here first.

  • i was looking forward to voting but finding out the results, not so much… strangely enough.  maybe i’ve gotten a little cynical about politics, but i was surprised that i had no inclination to check out which states are turning what color.  ended up watching “Get Smart” on DVD, so i found out via text messages.

  • i heard about it when my mom said MaCain won…but the radio said Obama is the next president….

  • I was in the Xanga chatroom and I was looking at the CNN page.

  • from a friend on Google chat who was watching Comedy Central.

  • Msn.com  :)
I read it around midnight after a movie

  • I was watching the numbers online last night – google, CNN, and NPR.  *chuckle*

  • my story is great. I was totally into watching the news, flipping between four different channels since 3pm pacific. my boyfriend was sick of it by the time we were nearing the results and was being a total bitch to me. we started fighting and after hours of watching the news i shut off the tv and told him to go fuck himself. he said he was sorry and when I turned the tv back on literally, nbc flashed the picture of obama and it said he had won.

then I got phone calls from all my friends and my boyfriend still had a stick far up his republican ass… but guess what? I got him to vote obama anyway! :)

  • I was watching the live coverage on some new channel like MSNBC or something. It was really a spectacular moment.

  • A mass of dark clouds rolled in, everything got silent, an acrid smell engulfed me, a chill ran down my spine & an overwhelming feeling of dread and hopelessness overtook me…. and I just knew.

  • two words:

    Comedy Central.

    two more:

    Last Night.

  • My mum knocked on my door a bit after I went to bed and told me MSNBC had announced he’d gotten the required votes. I then called my friend, who works for his campaign, and left her a happy voicemail.

  • I was watching Colbert/Stewart and Stewart announced it and I quickly switched over to CNN, then Fox News and then Msnbc and learned Obama had won! =D

  • I was on an airplane during the whole prime-time period of elections returns.  As we began our descent, the pilot came on the intercom and told us “while I know you’ll hear more about this from your family and friends, I want you to know that John McCain . . . .(long long pause, the whole plane held its breath) has just conceded the election to President Elect Barack Obama!”  A bunch of people on the plane started to clap.  It was kind of cool to learn the news this way.

  • Well, my boyfriend and I we voting for Obama and my parents were voting for McCain.  I wasn’t honestly following the coverage last night.  I was tired and full [it was my mom's birthday and we had pigged out and went out to dinner].  So I happen to come out of my room to go to the bathroom when I here my mom yell ‘Congrats Shauna!’.  And I cameo ut and looked at her funny and she said, ‘Obama’s president’.  I wasn’t surprised but it was still pretty cool.

  • i watched it as it happened.  simultaneously on the colbert report and nbc, lol.

  • We were bouncing back and forth among several news stations, but we actually heard it first from Jon Stewart on his Indecision 2008 show.

  • I was at an Election Watch Party. CNN started doing the countdown to when the next polls would close, and then it suddenly flashed on the screen that Obama had won. Everyone started screaming and dancing around. It was pretty freakin’ awesome. ^_^

  • When I heard the wild cheering on the television in the other room after having stepped out for a minute;I called my Father and began weeping with joy for almost two hours. It also bears mentioning that I think Senator McCain ran a very honorable campaign himself and made a beautiful concession speech afterward.I myself, obviously, voted for Obama and am very hopeful for the future.May God Bless America and our new President.

  • I switched between Seinfeld and ABC News until it was all over.

  • me and some friends were watching the daily show election special, and they hadn’t called it yet. Then we heard spontaneous cheering coming from outside, in the same manner as the spontaneous cheering that happened when we made the Final Four, and we were a little confused, but hopeful. Then the Daily Show called it, we turned on MSNBC and they had images of the great big party happening everywhere, and we were sure. But I think the campus breaking out into spontaneous cheering is how we found out.

  • I woke up this morning and my mortgage and gasoline bills were already paid!!!

  • on xanga. i got home from work and the first thing i did was log into xanga and there were 146537 posts/pulses about it.

  • @BarelyJen - Yay, BFN chat buddies!!!

  • Xanga and then I put on our local news channel.

  • I walked in the door from voting and heard it on the TV

  • My brother came down stairs to tell me last night.  He had been watching Yahoo homepage.

  • I was at the movies with a friend and the consession stand guy was like, “Are you happy?”

    I shook his hand.

  • Costa Rica is looking pretty good

  • I was watching it live.

  • I wept for joy that the damn thing was finally over!

  • i was outside of the college  for fencing practice and then all of the sudden fireworks and guns were going off and a bunch of people screaming for Obama X_X

  • Drunk people screaming outside my window.

  • @BarelyJen - I did the same   and it was such a great experience!

  • I sensed a disturbance in the force…

A friend called me and told me

  • I had my tv on a local news station, CNN and FoxNews on my computer, and Xanga…plus I was chatting on IM with a friend who was tuned in to FoxNews on tv.  Sooo, you could say I had my sources.

  • I’ve been volunteering for my local Democratic Party headquarters 30 hours a week for the past 3 weeks and I went straight from phone banking for them to going to their watch party.

  • my mom woke me up and said ‘obama won’

  • ABC!!! and i was on cam…

  • Fox News on the TV.

None of my election maps (Yahoo or MSNBC) changed on my computer, so I gave up. I just liked to see the states change color tbh. Also, MSNBC had the best map out of Fox, CNN, Yahoo, and itself.

  • Went to the rally in Grant Park.  It was intense!

  • My mom told me last night.

  • I began watching the coverage at 4:00 yesterday afternoon and stayed with it until 2:00 this morning.

  • From some news channel.

  • A black guy broke into my house to give back my TV.

  • You’re kidding, right?  No, I guess you really don’t know that it’s been Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow (ably assisted by Chris Matthews and Eugene Robinson) who have been putting me to bed nightly since I can’t remember when not.

On MSNBC, of course.  At 11:01 p.m. EST.  And I TIVO’ed what happened after.

  • When I woke up this morning and took my boyfriend to work, my uncle was there and said ‘Go Obama!’… that’s when I knew that of course he had to of won… however, I did check yesterday and by the looks of it, I could tell that Obama was going to win. :) And I’m glad he did.

  • CNN as it was projected…

then NBC because I had to be sure…

then ABC because I had to double-check

  • Indecision 2008!

  • I was on the phone with a friend and walking into the next room from where my parents and I were fixed on CNN.  Suddenly they yell, “Cindy!  He won, he won!”  I ran back, and screamed bloody murder into the phone.

  • I had fallen asleep on the couch watching the whole thing and I woke up to “OBAMA ELECTED PRESIDENT” emblazoned across the screen.   I thought I was having a horrible dream until I realized I was awake…

  • I’m a time traveller who came from the year 2081, so I learned about it in history books growing up.

  • Down here in Argentina, woke up at 4 AM (1 AM EST) and turned on CNN (En Espanol) and TA-DA! Obama was president! I rejoiced and texted everyone I knew…got rather snarky replies back but most were happy, lol.

  • It’s a toss up between whatever news source someone had on and passing by the headlines on the way to my e-mail.

  • Came upstairs this morning and the TV was already on and they were talking about how historic it is to have a Black president elect. So I figured it wasn’t McCain.

  • Watched it on television. I love election results. Maybe I have a thing for Wolfe Blitzer, I don’t know.

  • My clock radio alarm this morning.

  • it’s only last so long, then this country is really gonna be fucked.

  • I went to an Obama party to watch the election results.

P.S. Boo to California and Florida

  • I had the news on although I wasn’t really paying attention.  Then all of a sudden it flashed to a bunch of people dancing around.

  • Someone texted me in the middle of the night. (:

  • I found out at 9:30 pm.  from an unnamed source.

  • I came home and it was on tv

  • I figured he had won once I saw the hellfire crashing down from the skies.

  • I got about 60 text msgs w/in the same minute anouncing it!!

  • For the first time in ages, I actually watched a news station to find out.

  • Glued to my TV all night.

  • Jon Stewart, of course :P

  • i heard tons of people start screaming outside at 11:00 last night, so i checked cnn, and he won!, and i screamed too!! lol.

  • I had fox news on for a while, but they were mostly talking about stuff I didn’t care about so I turned it off. Then I went onto facebook and everyone’s statuses had just been updated to “obama!!!!!!!” “OBAMA 08!” “YES WE CAN” and I was like “that’s funny, people updated it all at the same time…” and I turned the TV back on and they were talking about how he just was declared winner. But technically…facebook. Haha.

  • He won?  Does that mean we lost?

  • From your last post.

  • Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert told me. lol

  • I fell asleep when CNN projected Ohio,
    so I figured he won.

But I found out for sure from a text message in the middle of the night.

  • I was watching the ABC news with Charles Gibson. The announcement came out of nowhere. It was around 8 p.m. McCain was at 140 something and Obama was at 207 and then he said “Your President Elect is Obama.” I couldn’t believe it.

  • I staid up till about 1 in the morning waiting to find out.  I dont watch tv so i looked up to election map on some news websites and found out there.

  • My boyfriend last night on the phone! We are all doomed!

  • My girlfriend told me

  • i got a pretty text message in red white and blue from my friend whos a die heart obama fan at likee…midnight, as i was just getting to bed.

  • I was watching CNN the entire time.

  • I was at bible study and somebody got a phone call…

    PRESIDENT OBAMA

    I was stunned… o_o

  • As soon as I woke up, my brother is all “Did you hear? Obama won!!!!!”
    And I was like, “sweet!”

  • Both xanga and watched his speech.

  • i was at grant park last night! wooo hooo!!!

  • Watched the news…Fox News..

  • Via text message.

  • tv on abc when i got up in the middle of the night fearing the worst for our country haha…

  • On Xanga.  You were there.  You know.

  • Dan, this doesn’t pertain to your question, but I just wanted to say this. I’d like to see the response personally if you asked this question (since you have way many more commentors than me, lol, :) . I initially thought this was an election about “change” in the form of leadership, of which I was very initially excited, but after watching Oprah today and listening to others, I’m not so sure it was. I’m starting to think it was more of a Civil Rights statement, ALL about a “black” or “white” issue, making a statement. You can see my post for further information if you like. If you could think up a question related to such, I’d love to see the comments, :) I would greatly appreciate you submitting a question related to this, :)

  • my younger sister ran into my room laughing and was like “President Barack Obama!” and then ran back out sometime last night.

  • I fell asleep at 8:00, and woke up restless around 10:30, plopped in front of the computer because there was nothing better to do. It was on the Yahoo front page. I tell you. Some days their front page new is my only window to what goes on in the outside world.

  • we were watching INDECISION 2008 on comedy central when stewart said obama won!
then we checked CNN, MSNBC, BBC America, & of course FOXNews. because if FOXNews admitted obama won, he definitely had LOL

  • I was checking CNN for a while, and when I saw he was ahead in the battleground states it became obvious.  I first learned he really won when my mother came into my bedroom to tell me to watch the speeches.

  • My sister told me.

  • saw it on abc. i was gonna make a reference to the prophesies of the Antichrist, but i figured that might be a bit over the top….

  • the news last night

  • I heard fireworks on the other side of my canal and it was all the black families setting them off.

  • radio- in the moring after waking up from my dream

  • I was at the county Democratic party watching Stewart/Colbert.  We all erupted as each network announced Obama as the winner.  :)

  • @MidnightExotica - Awesome.  I made a funny!

  • This morning when I came downstairs I asked my dad who won, and he said, “President Obama.”

  • I was watching CNN.

  • CNN last night at around 10:58pm.
Followed by a rush of “YES WE DID” text messages from various friends and relatives.

  • I wasn’t watching it on tv. Instead I was doing homework on the computer on one tab and had the other tab on news.google.com, and I was refreshing it every 5 or so minutes, and keeping the family updated. The last time I checked, Obama had something like 220 votes and McCain had just gotten into the 100s, and so I went back to my homework, and my brother calls, my dad picks it up, and I hear nothing but shouting through the phone.

So I say to myself, “Let me check and see what’s going on.” It couldn’t have been more than 5 minutes since I had refreshed the page, but sure enough, that little blue bar had shot out faster than Pinocchio’s nose! I was stunned. It took a while for it to sink in. I still don’t think it’s real to me yet.

  • Watching the electoral college votes on the news last night. I didn’t go to bed until I heard him give his speech at midnight EST.

  • I was sending messages back and forth on a social networking site, and the person tagged on an “Obama won.” on the end of the message.

Then I ran to the television, refreshed the news page I HAD OPEN, and confirmed it. Something to remember, but not a “Kennedy/ Twin Towers” type moment.

  • I saw it appear as I was watching the polling results.

  • Last night. I watched it. It sucks.

  • My husband told me.

  • I was listening to TYT coverage.  They called it waaay early hehe, imagine that, when it looked like Ohio was going to Obama.

  • Through people’s Facebook statuses.
My excuse was that I was busy studying for an exam.

  • yesh…i tried to avoid it all by turning the computer and tv off…
until my roommate turned it on..and so i left to go to the bar….
    to just get away…
and of course they were showing it there too.
so i found out at a bar…and after that i ordered an extra large beer…to set me on my way

  • I stepped out of the room just as they were announcing that California polls would soon close.  By the time I got back they’d already called the election.

  • when i opened msn.com and saw the headline. eveyrone already knew what was going to happen, i was actually going on to check the senate and house numbers

  • When I heard my boyfriend scream “Oh dear god, no.” followed by a bunch of profanity. ;)

  • i was at home on line chatting, and my mom runs to the living room yelling “OBAMA WON”! scared the living shit out of me.  but it’s worth it.  lol.

  • My eyes were glued to CNN the moment I came home from university, around 5pm. I watched everything up until 12:30am when the final comments were made by the CNN newscast.

  • people screaming inside and outside the dorm

  • Had a tab open on the results.  Kept checkin’ the electoral votes.

  • cnn.com
i was watching it alll night.

  • Jon Stewart. forget CNN Election Center. Indecision ’08 ftw!

  • Someone IM’ed me.

  • Yahoo News, Facebook statuses & Xanga posts.
    : )

  • I found out right after my Chem midterm. (Yeah my professor’s evil for giving us a midterm on election day.)

One of the TA’s: “Okay, time’s up. We also would like to tell you guys that Obama will be our next president.”
    Us: “Woohoo!”

And apparently (either during my midterm or after my midterm) there was a mob of students in the streets when they found out that Obama won. lol

  • I was watching it on tv when it happened.

  • I switched to Fox News b/c I was tired of hearing the banter on CNN.  I went to my room to check xanga (hehe), and when I went back in the other room, the banner was across the screen saying Obama was president!  I literally took about 60 pictures of the tv screen, lol

  • I told myself that I would not get myself worked up over the politics until we knew for sure who was going to be president.  I didn’t want to get excited to shoot myself down, and I didn’t want to get bummed to far ahead.  So I went into the basement of my dorm with my friends, where the majority of them did not want to watch the election updates.  they played video games, I registered for classes.

Then all of a sudden, one of my friends said “how many electoral votes do you need to win”.  Our amazing RA said told us.  Then My friend goes “Well… I’m pretty sure Obama won because he has more than that.”
So I closed the lid of my laptop, and said calmly “excuse me one moment”, went up to the second floor, and screamed like a girl with my roommate and her older sister.then I called my mom.it was epic.

  • My friend and I were talking outside a restaurant and a group of four pulled up and the first thing we heard was “Obama won.”

  • god told me…and he sounded pretty happy about it, so i’m gonna go out on a limb and say he probably voted for obama as well.

  • I watched it on television as the electoral votes were coming in.

  • tv. i occasionally turned on the tv to see what’s up.

  • I woke up in the morning and rushed to turn on CNN. I was the first to announce the news to the rest of my family.

  • In Australia it was on OUR TV networks all day. We ran a sweep on the number of electoral college votes he’d get. We Aussies will bet on anything!

Because of the pubblic holliday the day before the waiting room was packed lots of people around, lots of kids making terrible noise. It was than that i found out that Obama had won the election. Me: ::coughhackwheeze:: Obama! ::coughcough::

Mom: I know! OMG! Stop talking!

  • I was watching the election news all night,I always do that,it is exciting….but actually I already knew that Obama was going to win so it wasn’t a big surprise.

  • I was absentee judging to sadly, we had to tv. Instead, my mom texted me that Obama won as soon as CNN and John Stewart/Steven Colbert declared him the winner.

  • I was watching the electorial map on MSN, and all of a sudden, the map refreshed and there was a green check mark by Obama’s name, but his electorial votes hadn’t gone up yet, and I ran to the TV saying, “What happened?! Something happened! Obama won!” haha

  • I was watching the news all day/night.  there’s no way I was going ignore something this historic and find out later from someone.  This is not only something historic, but something that directly affects my life.  This is the decision of who will be my president.. that’s pretty important.

  • MSNBC baby.

  • I was at open mic on my campus and they had election updates every 20 minutes.

  • I was stepping through my front door when I got a txt message that said, “obama won baby”.

He actually won so quickly that most of the people in Alaska (where I live) were still getting off work and hadn’t had time to vote yet.  I was just happy to have got my vote in earlier in the morning.  It might not have counted for much, but at least I know my small contribution is official.

  • a text at 1 AM from an obama-supporting friend.
