  • Great Job President Bush

I just want to thank President Bush for all of his hard work as president of the U.S.

He has done such an amazing job with the economy and national security.

When President Bush was elected president, the gas price was $1.71 a gallon that week.  Here is the link:  Link  Just this morning, gas was only $1.69 per gallon in one place in Houston.  That means an actual drop in gas prices!!

The value of our homes has gone up.  The average home went up in value significantly over the last 8 years even if you count the recent movements in the housing market.  Here is the link:  Link

My household income more than doubled from 2000-2008.

He unified our country after the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history.  He led wars on two fronts which no president has done since WWII.

He greatly increased the size of the military.

Thank you so much for your hard work and determination.

I just hope the new guy doesn’t mess everything up.

  • i dont want him to but i expect that he gonna mess something up.

  • First commenter, I am humbled. I agree, Bush has been a very good president. He made a few mistakes, but hey, who doesn’t?

  • Phooey. Why do you have to be so popular?

  • Was this sarcasm? Or are you for real the only person I’ve ever heard say anything positive about President Bush?

And I really hope Obama doesn’t screw it up. But if he does I can always say I told you so…mhm.

  • @FallenReign - lol

  • That was a neat post.

I’ve never thought about it like that. haha

  • You are a funny guy, Dan.

    Funny guy.

  • I am not a huge fan, but if you were being sarcastic…that’s kinda mean. LOL.

I feel sorry for him…he’s done his best with a shitty situation.

  • burp…sorry i just burped after throwing up…

  • Rofl. I don’t think Obama could screw up anything worse than we already are. =] Funny stuff, man.
I can’t believe gas was 1.69 somewhere! I was happy it was finally down to 2.29 here. Haha :P

  • You done got my comment on the auto industry bailout post you did! I love President Bush! As I said, I’d LOVE to see what the other Presidents, including Obama, could have done with such a situation. A person can only work with what they have, :) You get lemons, you make lemonade. Lord knows he had lemons to work with, rofl!

    Cheryl

  • Wow…what country are you living in? Are you sure its Houston??

Gas prices went up so much that I gave up the hope of ever getting a drivers license!!

Right now its like 2.59ish for gas.

And Bush made so many mistakes that I can’t even count.

  • wait… i sense some sort of sarcasm, but i’m not sure because those accomplishments seem like actual accomplishments. now i’m confused.

  • your sense of humor is really black

  • Well, I don’t know where anyone found gas for such a low price. Not in California, that’s for sure. Houston, I haven’t been there in a long time. So I don’t know what’s going on there or why the there would be such a substantial difference in prices.

  • You could say anything and get people on your side, goddamn you, Dan.  *shakes fist*

    And stuff…

  • I think this may very well be my favorite post I’ve seen you do…you’ve confused everyone.

  • It’s nice to see the good side of Bush’s presidency highlighted for once.  I mean, he wasn’t all bad… just mostly. lol

  • Are you SERIOUS? I certainly hope those aren’t your real feelings about the man.

    @relaxolgy - I agree.

  • BUSH ROCKED. too bad he didn’t take Iran too.

  • Interesting look at it.

    I like it.

  • @sortingandforting - wow you scared me! First I thougt that first line was addressed to me

  • he slept with you, didn’t he?

  • I do not know how anyone would want the job of President of the US.  But, fortunately, there are some who feel they can do the job.

Unfortunately, the president sometimes has things to deal with that are out of their control.  For example, who would have thought that all the mortgage lending corporations would be run by greedy selfish idiots at the same time, and come up with dumb loans like “sub prime” and “arm?”  And who would have thought wall street bankers would suddenly become mentally incompetent and come up with “mortgage backed securities?”  The time to ease up on credit was a long time ago, as housing prices went to unsustainable heights.  But, no, now when people really need credit, the banks are constipated.

And the president really could do little to prevent this probably.

  • Sarcasm, no, I don’t think so.

I agree.  I wish the president, and his wife, “The best for years to come.  May God bless their lives and home as they make the transition back into a ‘normal’ life!”

  • gas is 1.80ish here.

    as for the post… rofl.

  • Way to keep a positive spin on things.

  • @relaxolgy - Haha! It wasn’t, though.

  • The FIRST REALLY good thing I have read about President Bush. Thank you!

  • hahaha, Dan.  Your too much.  I agree, but your too much.

  • It will be a couple of decades before the Bush presidency can be fairly judged. I agree with everyone else – this post is a masterpiece.

  • I feel bad for the man. He meant well and just did a few things that were too stupid then it went downhill from there. He and his wife are such nice people and they get all the shit with this. He’s not the worst president ever either.

  • A lot of kids huffed gasoline at my high school. For a while anyway. I don’t know if they actually got high. But gas got too expensive, and they started dying. Not as a result of the expensive gas. As a result of huffing it, is my guess.

It’s scary to think how old Barack Obama will look next to whoever is visiting him in the White House in a few years. The aging process is multiplied exponentially from the second you set foot in that building. We’ll see it soon.

    I appreciate the friend request.

  • About that..

Oh and the only reason he had to increase the size of the military was because Clinton made it so small it couldn’t do anything.

  • Acutally, I do think he did a good job. I doubt any of the people criticizing him on here could do better with the kinds of situations that the country has faced in the past 8 years.

  • Oh Dan I like it, you are going to catch a little hell. but I like it. I still need to do that entry about liberals not having as good a sense of humor as conservatives.  This entry sort of brings that out

  • Even if Obama screws up the country royally, Bush will always get the blame.

  • @mkenyon719 -  I agree with you, that he isn’t the worst. But he let people push him around, for that, he will be known as the President who lead us to socialism.

  • I think I love you.

    — edit —

    No, I am just confused.

    — edit —

    No, I do love you.

  • Your sarcasm is dripping Dan.

  • gas is always really cheap in texas….

if not for bush’s regular abuse of the constitution, poor handling of a natural disaster, poor handling of his own war, and the trillions of dollars hes squandered away in the white house id think him not half bad.

still would like to have a beer with him though.

    ha!

  • Mhmm. Good-riddance.

  • You can’t be serious….

  • I don’t think you’re factoring inflation.

  • WOW I can’t believe how many people are taking this post seriously.

  • I don’t know if this is sarcasm at its best.
but there were some positives in his two terms.
many might not agree, but its true.

  • Give Bush his credit.  Obama – let us all hope that the change he brings, is the kind of change we need, because economically – I am VERY doubtful.

  • hmms.. no bush didn’t do a good job. obama will justify what a real president should be doing.

    bush sucked.

  • @trunthepaige - Didn’t you block me because of a joke I made that you didn’t find funny?

  • I’m SURE BUSH DID SOMETHING WELL. He, uh…did something, I’m sure…uhh…hmmm.
I’m sure the debt collection industry has skyrocketed.
    -David

  • I feel the same way – whether you are sarcastic or not.

  • I wonder what Obama had to say for himself when meeting with the president after spending his entire campaign slamming him. That must have been awkward.

I know you were probably being sarcastic, but I don’t care. I liked Bush and I thought he did a good job as president. I hope that the history books don’t portray him as the worst president we’ve ever had, despite how trendy that line of thought is.

  • Oh, I think I may be ill now… but I’m going to go with the assumption that you have a really, really dry sense of humor. Yeah, that’s it.

  • @ClockworkBunny - It really is that low in Houston.

  • I love Bush.  I hate how disrespected he his for being a human.

  • What country was unified after the attack?     I remember about 2 weeks of it before the left decided to blame Bush instead of the terrorists.

  • $1.69?!??!!
I paid $2.03 last night in Florida

  • DAN, YOU ARE SO NAIVE.

also, remember that time he choked on a pretzel?  or was it a peanut..

  • I can’t believe how many people are on the ‘Bush bandwagon’.. have they been living under a rock for the past 8 years? Jesus, people.

And sarcasm (hopefully) noted on this post. Unfortunately not by many others it seems.

  • @StrongLetterI - It was a pretzel. A pretzel that unfortunately didn’t do a good enough job.

Wait, nix that. Then Cheney would have taken over (and not just pulled the strings behind the scenes.) *shudders* Neeeever mind.

  •  Nice to see I’m not the only commentor who respects Bush.  No, he wasn’t perfect and yes, he did disappoint me every now and then.  But he had a lot on his plate.  I don’t think John Kerry would’ve handled 9/11 as well if he’d been the one in office at the time.  I am hoping that Obama surprises me with the way he runs our country.

  • I’m with musicis4fools….I don’t think I’ve been around here long enough to really get which way you’re going with this…which makes it that much better!

  • well. it’s good to finally see a post w/o all that sarcasm for once

  • If the media focussed only on the positive things Bush did, then his approval rating would be very high, but since they only focussed on the negative, everyone just followed along and realized that it was profoundly uncool to support Bush.

I was talking to a friend the other day, and she was saying that she didn’t like Bush because of his “failed policies”.  I asked her what they were, and all she could say way Iraq.  She didn’t know of any other single thing that he personally did to cause any other “failures” in our country.
(Oh, and Iraq is going well now, and Obama is going to screw it up by surrendering, and the media will only blame it all on Bush and his “failed policies”)

  • Thank you, President Bush!

  • This is a joke right

  • @LilSweetJew - And no other president has screwed up before him?

  • @Strong_Protector - I agree! The media needs someone to blame and he is the easiest target. Not saying he is perfect, but he does have one of the hardest jobs in the country.

  • You have got to be kidding.

  • @Blue_Dragon_Designs - Yeah they have but I wasnt alive when they did screw up.

  • I filled up my tank with less than thirty bucks yesterday! AMAZING.

  • I wanna smoke what you’re smoking.

America’s asshole is the circumference of the Sun now that Bush has fucked it so much.

  • I hope you feel guilty for voting for him twice.

  • I leave it to you to put a positive spin on things.  :)

  • Yeah, except the President can’t really be blamed OR credited with all of the positives and negatives of the outcomes of his term…there is truely so much involved.

  • I certainly hope you mean that you hope the new guy fixes all the stuff Bush fucked up?

  • hahah.
    ha.

    … good post.

  • I’m not sure if you mean this is a serious way or not. Sure, Bush did the best he could do but a lot of people, me included, seem like he didn’t do his best. Maybe that’s because we all had high hopes for him, like we do for Obama.

  • @Strong_Protector - Have you been under a rock the past 8 years? Where should I begin? Oh yeah, Iraq. The war my husband just got back from- the one we shouldn’t have started in the first place, and the one that Americans were systematically lied to about (WMD’s ring a bell?) just to get our support for it? Please. How about “No Child Left Behind”? Last time I checked, they’re ALL being left behind thanks to those yearly tests that determine how much financial help a school is eligable for. Ask any teacher in the past 8 years how much that crap policy has really helped our children. Oh, that’s right- that’s just the ‘gotcha media’ and all their negativity. Don’t even get me started on his complete inability to listen to anyone who disagrees with him. All the generals and advisors who warned against Iraq? Axed. Sounds like a great idea to me- let’s surround ourselves with only people who agree with us and our messed up policies.

I could go on, but I think you get my point. There’s a damn good reason the man has a low approval rating- people who have brain cells were obviously polled on it.

  • OMG SOMEONE FINALLY AGREES WITH ME!!!

  • @DirtyAndShaken - Uh- John Kerry wouldn’t have been in office during 9/11.. GORE would have, had they of done the fair thing and counted the votes correctly. But that’s neither here nor there. It’s all speculation on how well any of them ‘would’ have handled it. But I mean, really- how did he handle it ‘well’ exactly? What did he do that was so inspiring and amazing directly after 9/11. I know my own feelings of patriotism didn’t come from Bush or anything he did, but from all the people who died that day and sacraficed their own lives.

  • Did that sound a tad sarcastic? Anyways. I like Bush. :)

  • interesting..He has done some good things and some bad things..every president does.

  • I hold a lot of sympathy for President Bush. He’s had to deal with a lot of crap. :/

  • um…. i hope this is a joke. lol.

gas is 1.99 here, last time i checked [this morning].

  • I don’t think you’re being sarcastic… I, too, am way better off than I was eight years ago. Life has been good for me and my family, and for that, I am thankful. Thank you, President Bush.

  • w00t w00t! But in the California, the lowest I’ve seen was $2.33. <tear>

  • @edlives - I’m with ya. :)

  • Isn’t it nice to be credited for something you’ve very little control over?  Hmm?

  • huh, I have to say that is the most positive post about Bush I have seen since his start of Presidency. As for the gas prices, well, he’s gotta go out with something good right? I don’t know what’s worse — being a President nobody believes in or trusts, or being a President-elect that everybody holds to extremely high expectations???

  • Hahahaha, you go, Dan!

  • Oh my, I do hope that you are being sarcastic. ‘Cause one would have to be a moron to actually think that he did a good job….

  • i love your sarcasm, balla`

  • Recommended this one, and five starred it, now just seriously hoping that wasn’t sarcasm.

  • AMEN!!! I think that everyone that has badmouthed him will look back in 20 years and realize what a damn good president he is/was!! after all, he was voted in for 2 terms, so we obviously liked him well enough for that! George W. Bush is the man!

  • I blame the housing crisis on Bill Clinton.  He started this mess.  His campaign was all about helping the less than average FICO scores and low income become home owners.  Now it’s clear that this is an impossible dream.  Some people weren’t meant to be homeowners.  Now 8-10 years later, it’s the Bush administration that has to take the blame.  Let’s see how Obama is going to turn clean up this mess.

  • Reading between the lines over the years I’d guess Dan wrote this in a way to leave both sides with what they want to hear.  Those who are pro-Bush will take it seriously, as I do, and those who think Bush is the worst person ever (even worse than Hitler, as I read one person saying) will take it as one great sarcastic bash of Bush.  In the end, I think most on both sides are looking at Bush through their biased viewpoints, that little to nothing the other side says will change.

  • @sortingandforting - what did he say about bush that is untrue?

  • HAHAHHAHAHHAA, I gotta admit that, now THAT was pretty hilarious! LOLL. We all know George W. fought tooth and nail for those country!

  • Good riddance Bush, I’m sure they miss you in Crawford.

  • Gas seems to be a decent price everywhere around here BUT West Virginia. Because our asshole state government won’t take off the excessive tax that they added to gas in the ’70′s that was supposed to be expired by now.

Increasing the size of the military is good imo.

Everything else.. no comment. Dunno. But I do hope Obama doesn’t screw up what we may have going for us as Bush comes out of the White House.

  • Haha.

The only thing president Bush was good at is running our nation into the sewer.
I’m happy his time is up.

  • … Bush is inbred. Check the family history, plus, he’s like a stuttering parrot. He can’t REALLY be running this now-terrible country, can he?

  • I’ll be anxious to see what all these people say about Obama in 4 years. It should be quite funny. But of course his screw ups will be blamed on Bush. Soooooo, if they blame Bush for Obama’s problems, then Bush can blame Clinton for the screw ups he had. It’s all ridiculus how one person is blamed for something EVERY is to blame for

  • Gas was 1.88 when I got it yesterday

I know I’m in the minority, but I think Pres. Bush did a decent job with what he had to deal with.

  • @zjiyre - Ha! Have you heard Obama stutter when he doesn’t have a teleprompter? It’s hilarious. If the dems had passed some of the things he tried to pass and NOT passed some of the things the dems passed, we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in. Look at the WHOLE picture here.

  • is it just me or do gas prices always go down before/around election time?

  • ahhhgreeed. I think people just jumped on teh hate bandwagon of hating bush b/c of stupid or unsupported reasons

  • bush is a bag of idiot

  • @FallenReign - haha.
that’s what i thought when i initially read this, also.
but what does it matter, i couldn’t have voted if i wanted to anyway.
    right?
    ;p

  • I’m sorry, but I think you are forgetting how he put us into an unnecessary war, didn’t raise taxes, yet increased government spending, so to try to make up for his idiot move, he printed bills which ultimately cased inflation, so if you’re wondering why the prices of virtually everything have gone up, or you’re suffering from the economic turmoil our country is in, you can thank your “amazing” president.

  • I don’t care if it’s sarcasm, I agree with every word you said. I respected and supported W the whole way through (every president makes mistakes whether they affect the country or their personal life ::cough::) and damn it though McCain didn’t win, I’m going to swallow my pride, salute Obama and respect him too. (I do also, however, hope he doesn’t screw anything up…honestly I’m more concerned with Congress and that cursed Nancy Peloski than I am Obama, at least he’s nice and has some class).

  • and the 10.6 trillion?? debt.

when clinton finished his term, our country had a surplus.

check out the national debt clock

    http://brillig.com/debt_clock/

we had to bail out big companies and now the auto industryy wthhhhhhhhhhh ???

  • @FallenReign - what do ya think?

  • there are a number of critical errors in your line of reasoning.  not to mention your sources are faulty.  yikes.

  • not to mention a lot of people who commented have committed the same errors in logic lol.  no wonder this country is in trouble…it’s filled with people who can’t think critically.

i really wouldn’t quote partial or faulty data if i were you.  just saying…it’s already bad enough to blatantly disseminate disingenuous information.

  • You’re kidding, right? Haha.

  • I don’t even know what to say to this.

  • You’ve got to be kidding me……..ahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhah

  • You’d have to be a retard to not notice all the terrible things he has done to this country…

  • Wow, Xanga seems to be highly Republican.
From the comments I saw Bush has a way higher than 29% approval rating.
Its 29% in October according to the latest Gallup Poll.
Oh and that is including two 25% approval ratings.
The only presidents with worse ratings at some point in time?
    Nixon and Truman.
    Link

  • Bush looks exhausted. I can’t wait for him to get some R&R and put Obama to work for a while. Mwahahahahahaha! Good luck, buddy!

  • I just pucked in my mouth.

  • I hope that the next president will be able to come in and clean up any mess-ups that Obama makes.  Bush was GREAT!  I like Bush!  (Especially the fact that he’s from Texas, has a cute accent, a nice smile, and cute elf ears!)

  • Bush’s biggest mistake was spending way too much money. Obama’s whole platform involves spending way, way more. So if you liked the Bush years, you shoul LOVE the Obama years…..

  • The funny thing is that there are going to be dingbats who won’t catch the sarcasm.

  • The last 8 years have been shit. Things can only get better!

  • you know he approved millions to feed starving people in haiti, not just to feed em but so they can grow their own?  there was a news clip of this girl mixing dirt and salt and baking it inthe sun and selling it for five cents a piece.

its ok to criticize the president however its biased to ignore the good he does as well. hopping onthe bandwagon and blaming bush for all the miserys of your life failings is one of the newest things ive noticed. it doesnt seem ok for the conservatives to criticize obamas withdrawal from iraq or socialist policies off spreading the wealth around, but ok to bash bush. hypocrites.

  • try OPEC for the gas prices. HEllo, O P E C. russia, and middle east gov getting rich off of us.

  • @xdaxchikstax - “when clinton finished his term, our country had a surplus.” er he took it out of social security. might want to check some facts. now our soc sec is screwed.

  • @nsantoro - really?w asnt it the masses who were all hungry to go out and finish what 9/11 began? wasnt it what everyone wanted at thetime, and then nobody realized or bothered to address that no war is quick n easy. if we get another 9/11 event such as the one joe biden predicted, or another bay of pigs, then were in trouble. the same people that bash bush now, were for the war then. cept for the dixie chicks, they didnt flip flop.

  • Finally, someone who can find something good President Bush has done!  You and I are like voices crying in the wilderness.  Thanks for seeing the truth!

    Steven Clark Bradley

  • People need to be reminded about what a great job President Bush has done with what he has to work with.  I shudder to think what whould have happened if Gore had been president when 9/11 happened.  That idiot would have tried to negotiate with the terrorists!  I voted for and support President Bush.  It’s a shame he can’t take legal action against the biased liberal media who won their campaign to smear him.

  • Oh, Gods. Fuck this post. Even if you’re being sarcastic, it still made me wretch.

  • @shedreamer - He’s not disrespected for being a human; he’s disrespected for being a liar, a fraud, and a coward.

  • @Zettista - If Gore had been president in 9/11, he would have taken the same sort of action that Bush took. Why would anyone want to pretend any differently?

    Wake up!

  • I realize this is a joke, a good one at that (I’m a fan of irony), but sadly it just ends up encouraging all these people who don’t realize they’re being made fun of.  It really blows that people can read a list like that and not have the phrase “suppressed evidence” screaming in their minds.  Just goes to show how easily people are manipulated by faulty logic if it’s packaged the right way.

We’re a big, dumb herd of animals.

  • The funny thing is, everyone who reads this and dislikes Bush will assume you’re being sarcastic, and everyone who still supports Bush (are there any left out there?!?) will applaud you for being serious.

    Pretty brilliant, Dan!

  • @Zettista - No matter who was president we probably would’ve invaded Iraq.  But maybe we woulda done a better job of it rather than flub it as bad as Bush did (who decided to go against so many military leaders’ recommendations of how many troops were needed for success, for example).

  • LOL.  nice one.

  • omg bush really SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!  he RUINED our country! how can you say such a thing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? bush is the worst thing that ever happened to us!!

    OBAMA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Here are my top issues and how I feel about President Bush’s handling of them:
    1. Abortion- pleased
    2. Gay rights- pleased
    3. National defense- satisfied.  Though serious mistakes were made, going to war in Iraq was inevitable and the war is getting better.
    4. Limited government- disappointed
    5. Fiscal responsibility- disappointed.  Though Clinton’s “surplus” was actually a $68.6 billion deficit (the amount the national debt grew) and Bush cannot be blamed for the subprime mortgage crisis, Bush kept calling for tax cuts and dramatically increased Medicare obligations through Part D.

  •  Everyone I talk to HATES him. People need to realize he is only human. Obama has promised a lot I hope he lives up to everyones expectations. Great job *Loud Claps*

  • If this was sarcasm, then kudos.

However, if not.. then you, and all that agreed with you, are the biggest tools in the universe.
If you think Bush made lemonade from lemons, and the lemons were creating a war for oil, among other things, and the lemonade was the financial crisis the states have entered..  Then sure; Bush out-did “Country Time”.

    Holy Shitballs.

  • liked the sarcasm, liked the comments from stupid people who didn’t get it more.

  • Bush wasn’t a bad president but even as he may have fucked up on a few things, who doesn’t? Thanks to congress and their Hollywood buddies, no wonder we hated him!

    P.S. The Mainstream must die!

Obama I can only expect worst, my opinion he isn’t gonna do better than even Jimmy Carter! Again my opinion!

  • Why is it so cool to not like Bush?

  • what’s more amusing than your blatant sarcasm is the people who have their heads so far up their ass that they can’t even tell.

also, how did this post of all of your posts get picked to be featured.  i mean, seriously.

  • I agree!  Whether or not you are being sarcastic or not, Bush really has not gotten the respect he deserves.  He is a class act and a gracious man.  Most of us would do well to be half the man he is.  Not one of anyone who has said anything negative about Bush has even the slightest inkling of what it actually takes to lead a country (not even Obama himself.  He is in for a rude awakening) like America!  Its easier to bash the man because your pocket book took a little bit of a hit, than it is to give him respect for doing the best that he could given the circumstances.  It is now clear that the only thing we are concerned about as a country is our green god of money!  This concern now trumps any consideration of moral or ethical issues.  What happened to the democratic party of Kennedy:  “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”  Its time for a little soul searching America, and I hope that when you do finally get around to ending the blame game and instead examining things internally, you will truly dislike what you see!  I know I do!!

  • Was this sarcasm? Or are you for real the only person I’ve ever heard say anything positive about President Bush?

wow BUsh not only sucks he screwed up america way to go bush

unlike Bush,Obama will most likely do some good :)

  • i hope this was sarcasm .. for all humanity’s sake

    lol

  • Heh, heh, turning the place of the the new guy and his young bride…He, Heh

  • I’m with you on hoping Obama doesn’t screw things up.

And it’s nice to see that some people DO appreciate what Bush did, and how he tried to do what was best for our country.

  • lol… the way you worded it tricked me till the second time reading through

  • @Vanishing_Doll - i agree with u 100% bush completely ruined america .. i remember wut it was like before him *sigh*

  • lolll alright .. after a full 5 minutes .. i finally get it .. loll bravoo

  • you obviously must be deaf. or blind. or incoherent, or most likely, all three. Bush Jr. is the worst president in the history of presidents. I could list statistics, or reasoning, but I would be up all night and this comment would turn into a novel. So, I’ll leave it at the one idea that pisses me off more than anything: We attempted to impeach Clinton for lying about a blowjob, but Bush lies to the entire American public about why we’re at war, why thousands of people are dying and why billions of dollars are being spent, and we let it go? This center-right country can get over it. It’s about damn time for someone INTELLIGENT to run the country.

    By the way, dubya: it’s NU-CLE-AR. :)

  • The cheapest I have seen gas in SE Pennsylvania is $2.16.  I am sure the price of gas varies greatly from state to state.

Count your blessings if your income doubled.  I know ours didn’t.

I have no idea what our house is worth.

    I voted for Bush twice.

  • Thank you.  It saddens me greatly to see how respect for our elected officials has taken a major nosedive.  President Bush Had more to deal with in his presidency than any other president since, like you said, WWII.  And Bush has a financial crisis on his hands on top of everything.  How stressful.  He and his wife are two of the nicest and sweetest people to ever hold office.  How many other politicians have their kind of virtue and kindness?  The amount of terrorist attack attempts that have been foiled because of our emped up national security is enormous, and we have this man to thank.  Everybody should pray hard for our new president-elect.  He is going to need it.

Thank you President Bush, for your service to our country.  =)

  •   I thank you for thanking Bush! Everyone has been hating on him because of the war… But I wanted revenge probably more than anyone else! I think he made a good decision with the war. Even a soldier said that this war has been helping us more than anything!

  • I hope this was sarcasm.

  • @Memory_Cloud - @RoBoChIcA - re – read it again .

    CAREFULLY.

  • @jwilliams607 - re read it again!! olol..

  • Well, not sure what to say on either one of them.Neither one of them were my picks,so I am just doing alot of praying!!

  • @saxy_grrl - I think you and I would get along very, very well.

I heard them talking about the Obama/Bush meeting on Fox News, and talking about how awkward it was.

  • I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but I fully agree with everything you posted. Everyone always hates the president while he’s in office (recall Clinton: “He’s a lying adulterer!” whilst in office, but afterwards, “We were in a surplus! How can you NOT respect that?!”), but, I’m sure in 100 years, historians will be talking about how he handled the numerous messy situations on his plate with efficiency, diplomacy and confidence.

I guess I just never hated Bush for his decisions. He did what he could do with known intelligence and resources. I also think it’s a shame we’re going to lose this war now, and basically waste all those soldier’s lives… oh well. Good luck, Obama!

  • Haha I’m totally loving how a lot of people (including me) are rather confused as to whether you were being sarcastic or not xD

  • haha, hilarious

  • This is a great post.

Thank you for posting it. I agree completely with you. You’re awesome.

  • heh, i guess sarcasm is at play. but just in case, does the end justify the means.
Gas Prices had to soar to $4. They lowered because the Average American stopped driving to conserve money. By the theory of Supply and Demand the price of gas HAD to drop. The value of home increased. Hmmmm and here we just pulled out of a nation wide Housing Market Crash? And what president would not have unified the country after a homeland attack? More like America Unified Herself after the attack.

  • Well he certrainly wasn’t the WORST prez.

  • Bush himself could not screw things up worse than he already has.

  • I hate to call people names (yeah right…=P ) but the people who are agreeing with him on saying thanks to Bush need a lesson in the art of sarcasm. Now I KNOW all of you passed the reading comp. criteria of your respective elementary schools. Come on now. He’s not praising the man. He’s bashin’ him. Bush didn’t do a gosh darn thing but raise the national debt and butcher the English language. He engaged troops in a hopeless war and mixed church with state quite a few times. But hey….you can love him all you want now. He ain’t the president anymore. ^^

  • A refreshing perspective…It will be interesting to see how history lays out his presidency.

  • seriously, are you kinding??? President Bush is the worse president we have ever had. His disapproval rating is 76%, meaning that most Americans hate everything that he has done. And about the gas prices, where you around when gas was $4 a gallon. The reason why it went down is because no one can afford it so demand went down, so prices went down. I mean really, Obama will do a much better job then Bush. McCain would have done a little better too.

  • yeah, def thank Bush for bringin down gas prices.. guess his family finally got tired of raping americans for oil $$.. sad really.. just in time too.. now he can take the credit for prices coming down before he leaves office.  clever, real clever.

great post. good to see people with a sense of humor. LOL

  • I totally respect your own opinion on President Bush. I just have to say I disagree with what you stated. I believe you are the first person I have ever heard of, support Bush’s policies. Any history teacher, or policitian would say that on scale of; One of the best Presidents, average, or one of the worst Presidents- Many would have to agree with President Bush being borderline average, spilling into the category of worst Presidencys in history. If anything President Bush did a terrible job with our economy. If you could just look at what he’s leaving Obama to clean up or perhaps our national debt. Your children will be paying how much?

Most of Bush’s decisions, became a downfall.

But then again, some people agree with what he’s done. So I respect that.

  • i can’t tell if this was sarcastic or not. was it???

  • @immaairheadxl -

You think the post was sarcasm?

  • @LilSweetJew - You should learn some history and learn how the government works.  You can’t blame Bush for these problems our country has been having.  The economic crisis goes back to the Carter years when he made banks give loans to those who couldn’t afford to pay off the mortgages.  Bush tried to stop it but those lovely Democrats in Congress refused to let him.  If you want to point the finger at anyone do not do it to our great president.  Seriously, learn some history!

George W Bush was indeed a great president and did the best he could under these circumstances that came his way.

  • lmao… I think you’re on Weed. Obama is going to fix it no matter what!  BTW Bush was the illegitimate president from the beginning. It was supposed to be Al Gore.

  • I dont know if you are serious or trying to be sarcastic, but I will say that I do admire President Bush and I am going to miss him being in office.  No matter how much crap the world gave him he always was mature and decent. I am honored to have had such a great Godly man as President.  And although I do not like Obama, I will support him because he is the new president. I refuse to be imatrue like some of my fellow Americans and flame and bad-mouth a president because I don’t like him.  What happend to being respectful? This is still America, no matter who is president we must be respectful.

  • I enjoy these comments most of all.

  • :/
why does everyone have to be so mean to persident bush?
yes, he’s made a lot a lot of mistakes, but show some respect for him please.

  • you are joking, right? lol

  • @RoBoChIcA - yes..lol re-read it, haha. carefully! >< he actually is going for Obama, real hard..so yeah

  • he just has a crazy sense of humor.

  • You’re joking, right?  If not, you are a f***ing moron!  Bush is, without doubt, the worst president in my 42 years on this planet, and probably in the history of our country.  I’m delighted you’ve done so damn well under him.  It might shock you to know that, by far, most Americans have not, me included.  MY income has dropped a solid 400+%, and I have three degrees and 15 years of good experience.

He also has led two failed quagmires/wars, one of which was an unnecessary preemptive war, brought about by overt lies to the American public and the world.

You seriously hope that Obama doesn’t mess up a disaster of an economy Bush has presided over with failed policies, of failed educational policies, of failed foreign policies, of no healthcare or environmental plans.  That’s kind of funny.  My friend’s 10 year old kid could do a better job than Bush.

I could go on to refute each of your points and more, but you’re not worth the time.  Idiot!

  • He did the best he could, and I, unlike most other people, supported him.

  • If it’s sarcasm, it’s unclear to me. He did unify the country (and Congress) after 9/11, which is a plus. That he greatly expanded the military and led us into two wars in 8 years are bad things, which would make your applause sarcastic.

  • hmmmmm, well i have a mouthful of profanities i could spew at you right now, but i digress because i’m fairly certain this post is full of sarcasm so let me just say this…

    i’m GLAD he’s on his way OUT…

yeah yeah yeah… liberals and democrats are a hated bunch right now and poor poor palin… WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! give me a frickin break… it’s pretty obvious bush did more than a FEW major screwups….

i have faith that Obama will START to fix what’s wrong with this country and even in a 4 year tern he’s gonna have a helluva time fixing all that this nasty FOUR-LETTER WORD —— BUSH had such a BIG hand in creating…

lemme tell you right now, as a single, hard-working home-owner and MOTHER, it’s time for a change and for some REAL hope because BUSH sure as hell didn’t give me any…

i just wish someone woulda gave him a blowjob so we could’ve impeached his ass….

    ugh.

and before you try to say i’m jaded, let me just say until you walk 10,000 miles in my life don’t even begin to believe you know what the hell i’m bitching about.

i’m an american. born here, raised here… AND i vote, in EVERY election.

    i’m glad MY CANDIDATE won!

so, there’s my sarcastic, anger-filled answer about this post. want some hatred? who better than the REPUBLICANS who keep sending me their HATE EMAILS? tap a few of them… they’ll keep you going for prejudice and hatred.

as for me, this is the first time i’ve spoken out so loudly against BUSH……. his regime did nothing but damage an already broken country further…

  • Are you a comedian by nature or something?

Have you not been living here for the past eight years?Bush didn’t do shit for this country, and didn’t help any other countries, so a thanks is not in order.

  • Thank you!!!!  Finally somebody who sees/thinks CLEARLY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ** claps!!! I agree.

… even if you are being sarcastic

  • @immaairheadxl -

Explain to me how you came to this conclusion.  lol.

  • @justdosomething - This is the best attitude ever. I completely agree with you.

  • i hope its sarcasm. people need to realize the only reason 9/11 happened was because bush was our president. the world hates him, always has.

  • Just browsing and found you

I will hold President Bush in high regard for the rest of my life because unlike so many Republicans, he didn’t just say he was pro-life, he actually DID something.  Signing the partial-birth abortion ban gave him about a million brownie points with me and I’ll respect and love him till the day I die.  Here’s a Republican who’s done something right!

  • PHOOEY…  I second that emotion!

If you are silent then you are DEAD…

Now is the time to unitie, to speak up, to allow for there to be a force for change.

  • @RoBoChIcA - okay ! madam..Dan is actually a huge supporter of Obama, look at his previous posts..I believe lol (i’m going to write in dashes what he really meant )

He has done such an amazing job with the economy and national security.

–This is his way of sarcasm. Economy is shit. National security? Yeah, the war. He doesn’t meant it.

When President Bush was elected president, the gas price was $1.71 a gallon that week.  Here is the link:  Link  Just this morning, gas was only $1.69 per gallon in one place in Houston.  That means an actual drop in gas prices!!

–Pay attention how he put “JUST THIS MORNING” instead  of speaking about the 8 years..lol and how he put two exclamation marks after gas prices…

The value of our homes has gone up.  The average home went up in value significantly over the last 8 years even if you count the recent movements in the housing market.  Here is the link:  Link

    –  This is actually a bad point of Bush’s side..he’s not really supporting him.

My household income more than doubled from 2000-2008.

    – hm, i’m not sure. lol

He unified our country after the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history.  He led wars on two fronts which no president has done since WWII.

    – led wars on two fronts? i believe, dan wanted it to be a “sarcastic congratulations”

He greatly increased the size of the military.

    – so , how many people has he drafted into war?

Thank you so much for your hard work and determination.

I just hope the new guy doesn’t mess everything up.

    - he puts..new guy, not Obama.

  • omg is this a joke??
    hahaha its really funny.
bush has been by far the worst president i have seen in my life. how he was elected 2x? hes madd lucky lol ill give him that much. i liked him because he cracked me up, he always seemed drunk. that plus his vocabulary range of a 4th grader means theres always a good laugh. maybe thats why he was president for 2 terms.

  • One more thing…

@Bukowski_Rules: you’ve refuted NOTHING.  Disagreement and/or denial do not constitute refutation, contrary to what Obama thinks.  Write a real argument based on fact instead of profanity.
People like you are why I could never be a liberal.

    That and common sense.

  • oh im paying 2.83 for gas

  • I recced this even though it’s sarcasm. I’m a Colbert fan after all. :)

  • Dan. why do you have a billion readers and i have two? :(

PS. I think Obama is going to mess all of his shit up. =( Pity.

    …innit?

  • @immaairheadxl -

Hmm.  Well, if it was supposed to be sarcastic, it was a poor attempt.  lol.  The fact is, Bush *has* done a wonderful job handling the threats to national security.  The democrat congress and the special interest groups they support is who caused the bank collapses, because of unfair lending practices.  What could Bush do about gas prices except try to pass bills to drill?  Oh wait…he already tried several times, and was shot down by Pelosi.  Dang.

Bush has done as well as anyone could have done in his situation, and he deserves respect.  This may have been sarcastic, but what he says is true!

  • @RoBoChIcA - lol..yeah..it’s hard to read

  • I can’t figure out if this is sarcasm or not.

  • Wow, I love your honesty.  I agree with your post, even if your being sarcastic, at least you would be doing so tastefully. I have respect for anyone in the white house. I didnt vote this last election, and hadnt voted the elction before, so in any way i cant complain.

You rock for a tastfully written blog!
    2 eprops for you!

Btw, I live in houston, and can back up those gas prices, 1.81 down the street from me today, an AMAZING drop from what it was *sighs of relief*

  • …i dunno even how to respond to this

  • All I can say is for more wonderous examples of President George W. Bush’s excellent leadership, please visit: http://www.bushorchimp.com

  • Bush has done the best he can considering the congress he’s had to work with.

Keep in mind that the president is only one branch of government; he isn’t responsible for everything.

  • @JUSTAVAPORHERE - hopefully other presidents would have respected the constitution and wouldn’t ignore it.

  • @wolvenchic - Enjoy it, your fine statesman bought you those prices. In Las Vegas gas is still $2.79/gal for the most part. That’s OFF the strip where the people live…

  • Your joking, right, Are you a knuckle dragging mouth breeding snake handling cowardly conservative???

  • Sarcasm or not, I wouldn’t know, this is the first time I’ve read your blog.  Either way doesn’t matter.  Bush is a good president and he did the best he could with what he had.  The biased media had a lot to do with his low approval rating.  The economy did too, but I’m not sure the president could be blamed or hailed for that since there’s so many aspects to it.  All in all, he kept America safe.  All I can say is the terrorists have not come back to our soil since, so he had to have done something right or who knows what else could have happened.  I only hope that Obama can keep them off our shores!

  • Google “The Bush Crime Family” AND google “a goddamned piece of paper”

  • That is hilarious!

  • Ah, every president has only added to the previous president’s mistakes. It’s how it works, they inherit the mess. I’m sure the Obama administration with mess something up, I’m just waiting to see what it is.

Either way, I laughed at this. Great post.

  • Are you a snake handling knuckle draggring winger?

  • Bush is crosseyed in that photo.

  • Bravo! Finally! Someone who has seen the light! George Bush, contrary to what every idiot in the world says, is a damn good president. People blame him for everything! Seriously! How is the economy his fault? The economy really started to dive after the democrats took the senate and house! SO STOP BADMOUTHING HIM YOU IDIOTS!

  • WOW

you’re the only person I know who isnt smack-talking Bush. I guess it’s true that he did try his best, although we could probs do better without the war.

Obama all the way! He won’t screw things up, trust me. Everyone has a different viewpoint, and if he does things that not everyone agrees with, some would say that he screwed things up, but that’s just politics. It’s hard being a politician, being scrutinized all the time.

  • Funnnnaaay!

  • I hope this entry was sarcastic- I can’t believe anyone would think that Bush has done a fantastic job.

  • wow, you really worked hard to find all that information; good job. Too bad those facts don’t apply for the majority of Americans, like myself or most of the people I know…

I love your sense of humor! Dan, it’s so amazingly sarcastic and dry! HAHAHA!

  • be careful saying that in public.  people are so in love with
obama, and hate bush so much, you might get lynched in the streets.

    i didn’t vote, but i’d vote for a Bush-Palin ticket any day!

history will remember him as a great president. . . especially after obama (metaphorically) rapes the country.

  • either this blog frightens me, or you frighten me. i can’t quite decide which.

  • Do you even realize that Bush’s approval rating just dropped to, like, 23%? That’s the lowest approval rating in history, including Nixon.. AFTER the Watergate Scandal.

It’s fine if you mistakenly believe that Bush hasn’t run our coutry and it’s middle-class citizens into the ground, but to honestly comment that Obama may “mess it up?” Mess what up? Even if I wasn’t an Obama supporter, I would have to say that ANY candidate elected into the presidency could not possibly “mess it up” more than Bush has… even Sarah Palin (you know, the Vice-Presidential candidate who doesn’t know that Africa is a continent).

  • I love President Bush. our economy was doing great until about 2006 when Nancy Pelosi got into office and her and the rest of the democratic majority in the senate screwed up everything. i think Bush is a great president and i am proud to live in the country he has ran for the past 8 years. however i am not so thrilled about Obama… i cried tears of fear when i looked at the TV and saw he had gotten enough electoral votes….

  • President Bush has had to deal with so much during his time in office, it’s no wonder many are not satisfied with his performance.  People so easily judge, for better or worse (in obama’s case, for e.g.)…or another–the economy started going downhill during Clinton’s time in office and now dems control 2 out of the 3 sections of govt, but who is blamed for it?!   ahh, politics and liberal media…never ceases to amuse…and sicken!

  • I suppose the only way to have gotten through these 8 years is sarcasm.

    Bush sucks.

  • :ahem:bullshit:ahem:

  • HILLARIOUS!!!  And could it be that your household income doubled because you got married?  I’m just sayin’.

  • @KelsiErin - You’re blaming the economy on Pelosi?!  What planet are you from? I would LOVE to see some examples.

  • I’m praying that this entire blog was sarcasm… -.-

  • @ficklemistress -   i dont think it is blamed on any one person, but i dont blame president bush and i hate nancy pelosi, and i am entitled to that opinion. kayythnx

  • …i can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.
either way, fuck bush. chances are, he’s doing his damndest to go out with a bang.
and knowin bush, we’ve got awhile to wait

  • @SavingMySoul - Thanks for your opinion. But I know history. And I have my reasons for disliking Bush.

  • I give thanks for Bush and the hard work he put in! We may never know how many problems he kept us from!!!!!!!

  • He unified our country after the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history.

< I agree with your statement here. Who in their right minds would leave the terrorists alone after what they did to this country! People who say they wanted to stop the war said it because the people do not have the ground on which they stand their first priority. I’m pretty sure this country would have suffered far more than 9/11 if it wasn’t for Bush.

  • I love President Bush SO much. I don’t care what anyone says:)

  • If this is not a sarcastic post, I would join you in saying the same. I hope with all my being that the country ends the new guy’s term(s) in a better position on all fronts though I do not think it likely.

  • I just read this for the comments of all the blind people in America. Haha. Ya’ll must be making millions if you think Bush is the greatest. I understand it’s okay to be worried about Obama. But it is 2008. Get over yourself and your excuses. It’s time for change beeeitchs.

  • BTW. Like that Texas ya’ll? Yes, I am from Texas. I do not approve of Bush’s presidency. Likely to have something to do with Congress too. But still. He’s kind of an idiot. Not just as a president. As a human. Checkk out W-The Movie.

  • I’m just visiting.

Even though your post is sarcastic, we need to at least say a couple of things.

He did nothing to make the gas prices go up.  At least, I’ve found noone who knows what it would be that he did.

We do have to look at the facts, darn it, and realize that housing values have gone up.

He did unify our country after 9-11, although we are more polarized now than ever.  He did cover wars on two fronts, not to mention others we don’t know about under the covers.

He must have worked hard.  I know he looks very tired.  Perhaps we will never know what all he did just to keep the ends tied together and keep the world from knowing it and us from panicing.

    ?

I wish our new President much luck and good will.  We will all need it.

  • I’m in houston and yes, he is not lying about the gas prices here.

Why are they so much lower here than most of the country?

Simple…cost of shipping. The Gulf Coast is where many of the refineries are, and alot of our gas is shipped to the stations direct from the refineries….Further inland, it has to be piped, or even worse, trucked to you. Therefore, your gas was more expensive to get from a refinery to your vehicle. In many cases, gas was burned to get a truckload of it to you….

Yet another way Texas would screw the states if we seceded from the nation…(which we can legally do — it’s in our state’s constitution. It all stems from the fact we were a sovereign nation when we joined the US)

  • Oh, and to about 98% of the posters on here, yeah, your maturity
really makes me think your opinion is worth more than the shit I scrape
    off my boots.

I’d truly be scared if most the voters out there were like you….

    oh wait…

    they are….>_<

And don’t think I’m saying this because of your OPINION! oh no, not at all! it’s about how you PRESENT your opinion!

But it’s okay…someday you’ll all grow up a little, live a little, move out of your parent’s house, and come to your senses.

  • maybe if he tries really hard he can spend more than bush

  • Not sure of this article is serious or facetious, but I’ll go along:  I think President Bush has been one of our greatest.  Despite what the media and the left have launched at him, he has never, ever returned fire, always kept cool, and was ready and able when the USA faced its greatest crises.  Though he wasn’t the perfect President of the United States, he was a great one, and his presence in the white House will be missed.  He was always congenial to his political adversaries, tough on his foreign enemies, let the world know in no uncertain terms that the USA woudl not stand for terrorism or terroristic aggression, and stood by his word all the time, even when it hurt him politically and popularly to do so.

Thank you, ever so much, Mr. President!

  • The common man does not know nor does he care to know that we as a nation subsidize the cost of fuel.  Bush has lined his pockets well.  We shall go bravely into that dark night on the road ahead and what’s to be will be.  ”Buy the ticket and enjoy the ride” – Hunter S. Thompson.

  • The spirits of Hoover and Nixon are grateful to him as well  for opening the door to a kinder re-evaluation of their own Records.

  • …but then again I always thought Nixon was O.K.; I mean, if he had done what Clinton had done,woo-WHOOOO!

  • I hope you’re kidding. Seriously. Bush is the worst president in US history, having bankrupted the country in such a way that we have nearly lost our standing as a superpower. He took us into a war that we had no business starting. Yeah, gas prices are low now, but we sure paid for a couple of years- to the point that our economy is at an all time low almost entirely due to that one industry. If you meant what you said, you are lost, totally, or are wearing self-imposed blinders. Even hard core conservatives despise him.

  • if this were sarcasm it would be pretty damn good.  oh well.  enjoy the ride, it’s on “us” this time.

  • i love how people aren’t sure whether or not this is sarcasm. :)

  • wow, my hero. he might as well be a prophet, right?

  • I actually agree with this, if it’s not sarcastic.

  • why do you think it is good that he led wars on two fronts?

  • There will never be a president that we all will love 100%.  Even though Reagan won the election by 49 states he even had some critics.  We all want different things from this country and for ourselves.  There’s no harm in that.  I have a son who will be a year old in a few weeks.  I want him to grow up and have the same freedom and values that I so gratefully had.  I don’t talk against President Bush because he is the leader of my country.  Anyone who doesn’t like our government is free to leave the United States.  After the 9/11 attack (and I knew someone who died in those Twin Towers) Bush did what he felt was best.  I know a lot of men who are in the military and they love their boss and fear that Obama will ruin what they are fighting for.  That should say a lot, shouldn’t it?  I’m just saying that everyone is entitled to their opinions whether you are a liberal or conservative but please learn some history and learn facts before spewing your thoughts.  This IS a great country!

  • Are you for real?  You are one of the few who realize he isn’t as bad as everyone makes him out to be.  I have no idea why people think the President controls things like a king or dictator.  I think a lot of people need to go back to school to learn there are THREE branches of the government, not just one.

  • The gas price link is interesting!

  • LMAO.

    Oh…you’re serious?

  • Nope, he’s still a fucker.

  • @witchdocsmusic - The only other president who was hated amost as much as Bush, was Nixion.

  • It’s all about perspective, isn’t it?

  • I LOVE YOU GEORGE BUSH.  Can’t wait to vote the Republicans back in four years!

  • I hope your not kidding because I liked Bush, honestly, I think he did pretty much the most he could do in the situation he was in. It’s not like he had time to think over everything. and people who don’t support the president are so unpatriotic, and we should stand behind him!

  • Haahahahaa. House values go up naturally! W didnt have anything to do with that.  Since when did it become good to lead multiple-fronted wars?  It was necessary in WWII to stop the Blitzkrieg, but now, not so much.  In fact not at all!

What makes you think he had anything to do with your income doubling?  Good job on the raise, but W didnt pull any strings for you.  My gas is still 1.99 and four weeks ago it was still 2.89.  After everything is fine and dandy, you start praising the guy, but where was it when he failed to find the WMDs?

You forgot to tell him thanks for making us laugh when he choked on the chicken during the football game.  Idiot.

  • Is this..serious.. or.. because I can’t tell.

I’m not gonna go Bush Bashing but.. if gas goes up 3 bucks before it finally goes down to less than 2 again.. (btw, what state do you live in? Because I haven’t seen less than 2 anywhere..) that’s kind of an accidental success.

The average home value went up in part due to inflation, and in some part because of ridiculous asking prices in general.

Any tragedy unifies a country.. but if you launch wars that are not accomplishing the objective, which.. to this day we don’t exactly know what it was in Iraq, seeing as there never was any WMD there, and was to catch Osama in Afghanistan.. You can’t call it great success.

The size of the military went up because young men flocked to join it after 9/11, just like after Pearl Harbor and after the sinking of the Lusitania. It stays up to this day because the army is having issues letting go of people who’ve served their fair share of tours of duty.. that and there’s always new people joining, some of which doing so willfully, some of them one of many suckers born every minute who believe they’ll actually recieve the benefits and marketable skills of service. *_* Just like on TV.

Again, though, you have to know these things.. so I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.

About the only thing I can legitimately applaud is.. over the last 2 months or so.. when some kind of melancholy seems to have overtaken Bush, at the realization that “hey, maybe I did suck”, he’s acted pretty level, and cooperative and receptive.

Things I never witnessed at any point before.

I still think he’s gonna do one more thing, just to make life extra crappy for Obama.. but I’ve been saying that for months, and I seem not to be the only one who suspects it.

He’s just too not like himself, lately. He’s cookin somethin’.

  • my sarcasm detector exploded

  • Amen!

I have to watch the “new Guy” for the next couple’a years to see if it’s safe for me to join the Marines or not. I really don’t want him screwin’ up the military like the Clinton’s did.

    -S.

  • gas was $2.02 last night in slidell, louisiana. i’m glad someone could say something positive about bush. i know he’s a fool sometimes, but he isn’t a terrible president. we’ve had so much worse. if you didn’t know that, then maybe you’d like to brush up on your history a little bit.

  • We’ve elected Jimmy Carter… I mean Obama.

Some people need to get their fact checks on the worst president in US History ever.

  • A man who faces his own personal demons, comes out victorious over them, and makes something of his life is worthy of some kudos. President Bush certainly did this. He faced severe problems within his first years as President and a media that vilified him no matter what he did. He did it with grace and integrity, even when others suffered from BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome). I predict that by the end of Obama’s “rule” (his spokeperson’s word), the populace will be more divided and polarized, we will probaly be at war, our economy will be in shambles with huge tax hikes by State and local governments, there will be a nationalized police force instituted to go after detractors, and the media will become the lapdogs of the governmental elite. Free speech or criticism of the government will be curtailed. We will not get the “tax” breaks promised and government will grow so large it will become a burden even to those who suckle at its breast. All hail the “One!”

  • “When President Bush was elected president, the gas price was $1.71 a gallon that week.  Here is the link:  Link  Just this morning, gas was only $1.69 per gallon in one place in Houston.  That means an actual drop in gas prices!!”

Don’t pay any mind to the fact that gas companies essentially raped Americans of their spending power over the last year of the Bush Presidency, or that gas prices over the 7 years before this last one outpaced the rise is gas prices before Bush took office. Your statistics are really very atrocious considering that they reflect how gas companies took advantage of the man and surged prices to previously unintabgible record highs, then packed up shop and put everything else back the way it was just before he’s replaced! Also, I’d like to add that just becase gas is $1.69 per gallon currently in a region of the United States that produces the majority of domestic oil, it doesn’t in any way, shape, or form mean that there was an “actual drop” in gas prices. The national average price is still ~$0.50 higher than it was when he took office, and your $1.69 price in Houston will never never never change the fact that the prices WERE over $4.00 per gallon in most parts of the country for several months, or that every American who depends on fossil fuels was severely crippled by the disgusting, glutonous decisions made on part of the world’s oil tycoons, supprted and profited on by our country’s exiting President and Vice President. Gas prices in the US follow an algorithm in which they always drop just before a presidential election in order to faciliate the retention of of elected officials who help companies keep their prices at highs for 46/48 months of ever 4 year cycle.

“The value of our homes has gone up.  The average home went up in value significantly over the last 8 years even if you count the recent movements in the housing market.  Here is the link:  Link”

Are you considering the unfathomable drop in the Dollar’s strength that occured over the last 8 years as well? Yes, the numbers used to represent your house’s value has gone up on paper and on your computer screen, but if you sold your house now and tried to make well on international market, you’d be living much less luxuriously than you would have if you’d transformed your dollars into other currencies during the pre-Bush era.

“My household income more than doubled from 2000-2008.”

Ditto goes here. Our prices are inflated like we haven’t seen in decades, and meanwhile our currency’s value is massively DEflatted. After Germany surrendered in WWI, they were burning their paper currency because it was cheaper than buying wood as fuel. Just because you have lots of little pieces of paper covered in all sorts of numbers doesn’t mean it will help more than a bunch of different little pieces of paper with much smaller numbers on them.

“He unified our country after the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history.  He led wars on two fronts which no president has done since WWII.”
He scrambled for an explanation and still hasn’t gotten on to us one that makes sense. But people have let go of that and don’t even try to call him out on it anymore, rather they’ve become apathetic towards wanting to understand and instead they just want desperately for his nonsensical wars to end so that we can stop wasting our national budget and our lives. There were good enough reasons to go into the middle east: to dispell radicalism for example. Instead, we made up a cover story and lied to the world and to our own citizens about what the hell we were doing there in the first place, just so Bush’s cabinet could feel good about themselves and pretend like they knew what they were doing and like they even had a clue about what really happened to our country on 9/11.

“He greatly increased the size of the military.”

In order to execute said illegal wars that have ravaged our country’s economy and morale IN SPITE of the fact that it’s all on someone else’s soil? Oh, here’s another great thing he did: He grealy increased the number of dead and disabled Americans… Americans from the bottom economic demographic who often lack a basic undergraduate college degree. Americans that couldn’t get a decent paying job to help support their family outside of the military because of their lack of education, and because of the once timid and now completely ailing economy.

“Thank you so much for your hard work and determination.
I just hope the new guy doesn’t mess everything up.”
I don’t even have words for this part…

  • I really can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.

  • I really hope you aren’t serious.

  • Good post, man. Holy shit, that damn Orambo Bomombo is going to fucking kill us all, I bet.

  • I personally dislike Bush….(you know,Operation:Desert Storm etc.) but I’m glad that SOMEONE wrote something about George Bush without cussing him to infinity.I have to remind myself leading a nation is extremely difficult (*cough*understatement of all time*cough*).Just play democracy 2,and you’ll know what I mean :D .

Is this sarcasm though?Soooooo hard to tell in text.

  • Don’t forget, he made the Bill of Rights easier to read by elimination of useless Articles.

  • Haha!  Awkward!  I’m excited about Obama.  =D

  • @FallenReign - Are YOU being sacrcastic?! This person is nowhere near the only person who has made a good comment about President Bush. You have no idea how well he has worked for our country and the success he has brought us by sticking with the war in Iraq even when many, including President-elect Obama, demanded we bring the troops home. You don’t even know how bad that would be, do you not think the Iraqi extremists wouldn’t come after us? There have been many people, including journalists from several famous newspapers who have written articles about how well President Bush dealt with all these difficult things like the economy and the war and that, in the future, history will prove President Bush to have been an EXCELLENT president.

  •  Intelligent! People can take this as you being in sarcasm or for real. Nice post.

  • sarcasm at its finest <3

  • Gas is 2.13 here…could be seeing a dollar soon. He did his best during bad times. He’s been blamed for clinton’s mistakes.

Obama is just gonna fuck us up.

  • I’m glad that the Theologian’s Cafe can get past divisive politics and see some value in the G.W. Bush’s presidency.

I’m glad that the self-described theologian displays such a great moral concern for genocide and AIDS.
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/04/AR2008110403818.html

I’m delighted to see that for all your correct judgment on the failure of Iraq, you also point out that Saddam, a dictator that murdered 300,000 Kurds, was removed from power.

I’m glad to see that you didn’t forget that G.W. Bush vastly increased executive power…something we’ll see if Obama and 111th Congress will work to limit again.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you also for not simplifying Gitmo and extraordinary rendition.  What do we do with the prisoners once we close it down?  Some will certainly be executed if sent back to their countries.

  • @skiprepeatone - That is precisely correct!!!

  • @petitenoirtenue - You have no idea. Clueless.

  • Thanks for this well written and much-needed tribute to the great President George W. Bush. Despite those who hate him and have sought to destroy him, I’m certain he will go down in history as a great president. He didn’t ask for the tragedies of 9-11, and, unfortunately, that is what shaped his entire presidency. To those who say his leadership and decision didn’t help keep us safe, I say, you’re pretty stupid. I can guarantee you if we had been attacked in the last 8 years, all we would have heard was how it was all Bush’s fault. Those who complain about the Iraq war, should complain to their Democrat senators. They voted for it, and based their decision on the exact same intelligence. Even Bill Clinton said Sadaam had to be overthrown. These people who hate Bush are petty, uninformed, willfully ignorant souls.

As for your final statement, I’m certain the new guy is going to mess things up, and big time. I predict “buyer’s remorse” right away.

  • @PastorBlastor - Preach it, brother! Amen!

  • @Zensae - Indeed! No president is perfect. Thanks for pointing out the history lessons some need to re-read. Truth is, they probably never learned the true history of anything in today’s liberal schools.

  • @witchdocsmusic - What you don’t know is astounding!

  • I highly doubt that the president has anything to do with gas prices at all.

  • @fm52 - right on to that

  • he made history. In lots and lots of different ways.

  • I am gonna miss you Mr. President. You did the best you could with what was handed to you. I wish those Dems would have let you do more. This economy would not be such a mess. YOu crack me up and I loved watching yor speeches. YOU ARE AWESOME!Thanks Mr Bush for keeping us safe and making me proud to be an American.

    God Bless USA

  • That’s some of the funniest stuff I’ve heard since Dennis Miller!

With friends like Bush we’ll never need enemas.  Yeah, I spelled that right.

  • sorry but president bush f%*$ed up the econmy n everything he was the suckiest president ever i regret thinkin he was a good president

  • Best blog I’ve read in a while….

  • Are you kidding me? I hope this is a joke. A bad bad joke.

  • @dallas_cowboys_chick_14 - Perhaps you should run an entire country then???

  • @joyadeldia - haha, I can’t tell either, either way I love this blog, people can take it so many ways, because YES Bush has made mistakes (many, many of them)
I mean, look at gas prices between those 8 years!!  And WMD’s?? what a joke!
But, we still have our freedom and in the end, isn’t that all that matters??

  • finally!

    someone else who respects Bush.

  • Oh yeah, go Bush?
    Screw that.

=P I’m hoping this is sarcasm

  • Well at least he wasnt messing around with cigars and interns in the Oval Office. LOL.

  • Not all of his policies were…the type that screwed the pooch. In the past four years they changed their international approach too after alienating everyone…if Obama wants to reverse all of bushes current policies…we’d have to go back to alienating everyone.

  • I like how this post is completely baffling people who don’t know shit about politics.

  • you know what i thought he was a good president at first when he started calling all this shit bout sending our troops to war n shit i realized he was f&*king up everything

we are lucky Obama won, he was against the war from the beginning

    BUSH SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lauraw4489 - I’m not disagreeing, honestly, I’ve just been like, surrounded by anti-Bush stuff for so long that I wasn’t sure if it was sarcasm or not. I think he’s done the best he could for our country, and I’m tired of my friends saying that he was horrible and stuff. Most people in the media [or the little of it that I watch] ridicule him. I understand that the full effect of his presidency won’t be felt until a few years from now, though.

  • Bush isn’t as bad as the media paints him to be.

  • AMEN!!! I completely agree!!

  • @bekkathebaka - I saw gas for 1.98 here in Northern Indiana. And if you think things can’t get worse then you really, really, really, need to brush up on your history. Countries experiencing horrible economic times often go to the far left (communism) or to the far right (fascism) and trust me you don’t want either. As far as socialism is concerned, thats just a nice way of saying communism.

  • I didn’t follow EVERY single thing the Bush did, but I recall, even from his 1st term, that he was blocked constantly by Democrats in the House and Senate.  It was a long battle.  I agree, he did the best he could.  People hate him for it, but I think, looking back, people will think more highly of him.  I remember growing up in the Reagan years how everyone thought he was an idiot too.  Now, people don’t say that about him.  Too bad he died.

  • Is it possible to laugh and puke at the same time?? Because I’m doing it right now….

  • @couchrou - Do you have to contradict EVERY thing I say? Jesus Christ, dude. I think communism is cool, don’t assume that I ‘don’t want either’, because I do. Socialism is the shit, I think capitalism sucks. So shut your dumbass mouth, please, before you infect me with your stupidity. =]

  • yeah. thanks, president bush

  • @xdaxchikstax - Conservatives used to scream about a balanced budget. Neocons now could care less. They are “tax-cut and spend” Republicans. The dollar gained the day after the election because speculators thought Obama would solve our economic problems better than McCain. McCane is a Reagan “Trickle Down” economist: Give more to those on top to create jobs, etc. No economist today believes this. Money in the pockets of the middle class is what drives this economy and creates jobs. High gasoline prices made consumers stop buying the SUVs and large cars Detroit was so adept at making. They are now in a grave situation because consumers started buying gas-efficient VWs and Pacific Rim cars and not the gas-guzziling behemoths. I think Clinton prosperity will return under Obama because of a reduction in the gulf between rich and not-rich that increased to historical highs under Bush.

The deficit is also a historical high.

  • I don’t blame everything good or bad on President Bush.

  • Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not..
Gas prices ALWAYS goes down around election
time. Gas may only be $1.69 now, but I remember paying $4.27/gal in July.
I’m happy that your income doubled. That’s fantastic, but the housing market BLOWS, the economy is fucked, we’ve lost
1.2 millions jobs since the start of the year, and the unemployment
rate is up to 6.5 percent. On a side note, I will never forgive him for doing absolutely nothing for the hurricane Katrina victims.

And now in the lame duck period, he wants to mine for uranium in the grand canyon! That could potentially leak radiation into the CO River, which provides drinking water to LA and Vegas. Sounds like a GREAT idea.

Bush can suck a big one. He’s an idiot and I hope things turn around for this country, sooner rather than later.

  • I can’t tell if you’re serious. I believe you’re not. Because, you obviously chose to leave out anything within the 8 years he was president. Yes, gas prices were 1.71 when he was elected, and last month they were 3.89… just now did they drop again because of the election.
And your house? How about the 700 billion dollar bail-out that was needed because he didn’t do anything while the banks were failing.
The war is going nowhere. The reason no president has started a war on 2 fronts is because it’s a bad fucking idea. Have we set up a democracy? Have they stopped killing each other? No. They are having a civil  war and we are fueling it.
“The New Guy” Barack Obama has plans, and majority of them are plans to clean up Bush’s failed presidency.
So, although I’m almost sure you are joking.. for all of you who actually think this…
    Read a goddamn book.

  • I think it’s very unfortunate that Bush is so unpopular. Especially since Clinton is well-liked, when he was a much worse President than Bush. He broke pretty much every promise he made to Americans, he started the housing crisis we’ve had, he involved himself in several scandals, ransacked the White House and Air Force 1 when he left office, and worst of all, he cut the military budget to a skeleton. And then, he parachuted troops into an active combat zone WITH NO AMMUNITION! But because he inherited the economic stability of the Reagan and Bush years, and happened to be on office during the .com boom, people think he must have been a great President. And then Bush meets crises, and tries to actually do things about them, and gets derided.

  • this better be sarcastic!!!  holy geez!!!!!

  • I believe history will show George W Bush to have been a much better president than American media are portraying him right now.

  • Amazing!  Also, Bush has actually donated more money to underdeveloped countries than any other president in the HISTORY of our country.  :]

  • Also, people blame him for things they shouldnt.  Although  I am all for the war, a President cannot “start” a war.  It is the Congress’s power to.  I honestly believe that he will go down to be one of the greatest Presidents in the history of our country. I love Bush.

  • The W. Stands for Wonderful!

I am amazed at the wonder that is W.  Many people will shout about what a horrible president he was and forget all of the good things he’s done for this great country.

And to all you liberals out there… spare me.

Here are the top 10 reasons why W. is the savior of the world.

    10.    Single handedly took SUV’s off the market. By raising the gas prices.
    9.  Truly taught us that war will destroy our nation’s credibility, assets, allies, and resources and make us look stupid and incompetent in general.
    8.  Helped us not to depend on the government and to learn to fend for ourselves.  Best example of this is Hurricane Katrina.
    7.  Made us realize that ANYONE can be president.  You don’t really have to know ANYTHING.
    6.  Showed us grace as he forgave the poor wall street giants of their sins for the small price of 700 billion dollars.
    5.  Paved the way for the first Black President.
    4.  Reduced the costs of housing nationwide.
    3.  Lessened our greenhouse gas output by encouraging people to conserve by raising energy costs.
    2.  Gave many comedians a lot of great material to work with.
    1.  Brought Will Feral Back to Saturday Night Live.

  • I appreciate you not slamming him, like every other American as of late.

    :)

  • Seriously people look at the facts Bush is not as bad as people make him out to be fact. Sure we can blame him for the conflict with Iraq but some people would of did the same thing, but in the end it was a horrible situation. I in fact do applaud him for sticking with it through even though it was a mistake to go their i think in some ways he realizes it was and he had to fix it some way. To point something out really quick we talk about the Darfur thing but the government their i heard doesn’t want us to get our hands into that mess, so should we? It in away will lead to the same mistakes like Iraq but people will be able to justify it more but same outcome.

Look at the stock markets the last 10 years. The Dow Jones under Bush reached highs and the Nasdaq was stabbable. It all started to go down hill around sometime last summer i would say. So while you blame Bush for the economic problems under him we did pretty well. He’s not as bad people make him out to be. In fact he can’t judge him yet because history tells you it takes 30-50 years and then look back to see if a guy was a good President. Whose to say that then Bush will look like a genius you never know.

  • @LucyWrites - You’re a sweet little thing aren’t you.

  • @GregoryofNY - I am sugar and spice itself.

  • @Fearless39 - I couldn’t have said it better myself. Great comment.

  • *Note to self:

Those who commented in support of Bush have made significantly more grammatical and spelling errors than those against.

    I think this says something.

  • @LucyWrites - Aha. So you mean your horns hold some type of ficticious halo up?  Just the kind of girl to bring home to mother’s.

  • @bethechangeyouwish2see -

    1) You are funny because you are getting really offended (and if you reply you are going to say that you aren’t, haha)

    2) I support the Iraq war, not because of WMD (and Bush didn’t lie, he had faulty intelligence.  Everyone established that a LONG time ago, and why would he lie to get into a war for the purpose of revealing that he lied), but because something needed to be done with Hussein and his corrupt regime.
    3) No Child Left Behind obviously didn’t work the way he expected it to.  So, you win some and you lose some.

So, going into the Iraq war is a matter of opinion.  But as of now, it’s actually going well, so that isn’t a “failed policy”.  Also, we have done many many good things in Iraq, but the media only shows the bad.  We hear about how many civilians we have killed while the media ignores how many we have saved and praising our soldiers for that instead of scolding them.

So, really the only “failed policy” you have pointed out is No Child Left Behind.  And I’m sorry, but that doesn’t make him a bad president.

  • @GregoryofNY - I actually really am. I iz sweetness.

And of course, I was right. There were definitely people that missed the sarcasm. I’m a sweetie that totally called it.

  • @LucyWrites - Okay darling, you’re mighty sure of yourself sweetheart and may this gentleman ask who calls you down sugars? ; )

  • @Strong_Protector - You’re damn right I take it personally and get upset when someone tries to tell me that Bush did a ‘good’ job. And please, PLEASE do not try and tell me what we’re doing in Iraq. Do your research first and actually look at my page. My husband just got back from a year tour over there and I think I have a much better idea of what’s REALLY going on (sans media) then most given that he lived it first hand and relayed it all back to me as it was happening. No, I didn’t live it personally, but I take what he says to heart because he HAS lived it. And when comes back and tells me that it’s not our leaders that are making the choices that are making things better over there, it’s the Iraqi’s themselves- then I tend to believe that, given that he’s seen it first hand. So what is YOUR basis that Bush has done ‘such a great job’ besides Fox media?
No child left behind- abstinence only education- the patriot act- lessening regulation on wall street- dear god, need I keep going?

  • i dont think obama can do squat… and because of the 1/64 african heritage he gets to be called black… relevance?  haha idk,.. just saying people just voted for whoever wasnt republican. hilary wouldve won if she didnt target video games. dont anger the gamers man! go bush! voted for ya twice man! wouldve voted for your dad too but i was like in diapers at the time.

  • Were you being sarcastic or were you serious? I honestly couldn’t tell.

  • Hahahaha! Nice post. Very funny.

  • I haven’t been as impressed with him in second term as I was during his first, but for everyone saying gas is still above two dollars, here in Topeke, Kansas, it’s $1.87!

  • Are you freaking nuts? He damaged our economy to the point of no repair. Just look at AIG. Freddie Mac and Fannie May. Guess who’s fault that is? If you guessed Bush, you are correct. Now why are you such a strong Republican?

  • I wish I could agree with everything you said, but I can’t.

Home values may have risen in the eight years he did in the White House, but I live in Ohio, in Cuyahoga County with one of the HIGHEST foreclosure rates in the COUNTRY. Not saying that’s Bush’s fault…

I don’t neccessarily agree with the wars, but I thank the soldiers for their service nonetheless.

Bush wasn’t HORRIBLE, in fact, could you imagine a Gore presidency when 9/11 happened? I can’t.

God chose Bush for the job, so I don’t question His sovereignty.

And as far as Obama messing things up…he is only a man. He cannot mess things up on his own. He does have a Congress and Cabinet up under him.

Instead of hoping Obama doesn’t mess up, why don’t we pray for God to give him wisdom to make the right decisions? In the end we MUST put our trust in GOD. (Psalm 118:8)

  • the author’s intent is being questioned but it doesn’t really matter. some people like Bush and some don’t. it’s just quite obvious that those who don’t like Bush tend to use abusive and foul language. just a little observation.

  • Wow

Why do people say that God gave us these leaders, so we shouldn’t question his/her soverignty. Since when did we become Ancient Egypt? You are supposed to question them. We elected them. They work for us. Not God.

  • Oh, but this is a clever one.

  • Well, yes of course, no one seriously disagrees with your assertions on security and the economy.  And you might have added that the housing debacle was not his doings, but rather the work of many government dunderheads who felt that the goal of nearing 100% home ownership was a fine ideal to try and realize … when so many people day in and day out make it indelibly clear that they prefer their quotidian bottle of whiskey to the “ultimate goal” of home ownership.

Still, many people did not like president Bush.  I hope more people will continue to like the president elect.  I think liking is important.  It provides some national glue, cohesion.  I do not think that Obama will mess things up very badly.  I think he is far too clever for that.  Still, if you do not want health care to become more socialized, I think you will be disappointed.

Incidentally, your income doubled from 2000 to 2008, while mine dropped by about half.  I am a Christian and do not like to steal (you know, robbing Peter to pay Paul), and would never vote for socialism.  It seems that the government will force you to subsidize me and my family.

Should I cut a check for you each month, as I have five children under age eleven, and we plan to move to the U.S. next year.  Up to now, we felt that the health care and child care there was just too expensive, not to mention the taxes; I have paid only self-employment social security taxes (15.3%) these past twelve years, given that I receive the Foreign Income Exclusion, for line 21 on yer basic 1040.

I pray that Obama goes for the health care thingie first and is wise enough to stay away from the thinly veiled grab he campaigned on (a tax “rebate” for those who do not pay), even though I would stand to rake it in with my burgeoning brood, and a dependent wife who cannot work.

Even though I disagree with it on principle, too many people want the health care thing to deny it to a democracy.  But the direct tax take?  How many people have openly pined for that?

Mooks Dayoo mentioned, “Too bad he didn’t take Iran.”  I don’t think he would have had to take Iran, if he had actually taken Iraq and Afghanistan.  The way I saw it, Bush just kind of diddled about, didn’t really hit Iraq with full force.  Israel didn’t pander to the UN when they realized that Iraq was on the verge of developing nuclear arms. Rather, they just flew two planes over there and took out the project, nipped it in the bud, so to speak, not sitting on a fence for a year (like Bush), preening before some international audience (as Colin Powell was forced to do), and attracting all kinds of attention, nearly all negative.  I mean, how many people are really going to answer with gushing positive support when you ask, “Do you think I should go blow up so and so?”  Not many.

These are the nasty little decisions we want the president to take the dive for, the reason we elect him.  If he cannot be decisive, what is he doing?  A president needs to either do his business or get off the pot, if you’ll pardon my French.  Clinton is a good example.  He bombed freely in Iraq, Bosnia, and elsewhere, and had the good sense to just decide quietly to do it and not beg everyone’s good favor.  IN fact, I read that off the record he snapped, “Ah!  I wish that had been on my watch!” when he heard of the twin tower bombings.   Nothing could have been a better excuse to knock out a terrorist supporting state that had been a thorn in his side for his whole term.   And the world would forgive you if you did it quickly … with full force.  We went into Iraq meekly, like a bunch of lightweights.

Don’t get me wrong, I doubt I would have voted for the use of force in Iraq, unlike most senators at the time.  I am move of a passivist, and very much a liberal.  But I do know that if you pull a gun (make threatening gestures), you are darn well better off using it and quickly putting it away, than to keep waving it about like some clown.

I know here in South Korea, sometimes it is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission, and bureaucrats would rather you do it that way. I’ve even had them hint very blatantly to me in the immigration office to that effect, which made my wife cackle.  They don’t care about the law; they just want good service, and realize their law obfuscates it everywhere.

  • @bekkathebaka - It’s Texas prices. They’re a lot lower than most places.

    Lucky us :]

  • i think the whammyy goes to the commentatorss who seriousluyy actually likee the bush years rather than the liberal who saw this as sarcastic.

  • @LLKirstieBean -   hell yes, give everyone what they’ve been waiting for.

  • Thank you, for saying thank you.  He deserves it.  What a lonely job.

And thank you Xanga, for finally not being so one-sided in your featured posts on politics.

  • You are absolutely correct. He was one of the greatest presidents ever morally and (with a few exceptions) politically.I hope God blesses him.

Oh, and our gas here is $1.84!!
    Thanks for your post!!!

  • hmm… not sure if this is real or not. I feel no matter who is in the whitehouse people are still going to take out the worlds problems on them.

  • finally! someone sees something positive about our president

  • you are being sarcastic right?

  • I just threw up a little in my mouth.

    You’re FUCKING KIDDING ME, RIGHT?

  • Dubya should’ve been impeached, along with a few of his close friends. Here’s a few reasons:

    1. Violating the United Nations Charter by launching an illegal “War of Aggression” against Iraq without cause, using fraud to sell the war to Congress and the public, misusing government funds to begin bombing without Congressional authorization, and subjecting our military personnel to unnecessary harm, debilitating injuries, and deaths.

    2. Violating U.S. and international law by authorizing the torture of thousands of captives, resulting in dozens of deaths, and keeping prisoners hidden from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

    3. Violating the Constitution by arbitrarily detaining Americans, legal residents, and non-Americans, without due process, without charge, and without access to counsel.

    4. Violating the Geneva Conventions by targeting civilians, journalists, hospitals, and ambulances, and using illegal weapons, including white phosphorous, depleted uranium, and a new type of napalm.

    5. Violating U.S. law and the Constitution through widespread wiretapping of the phone calls and emails of Americans without a warrant.

    6. Violating the Constitution by using “signing statements” to defy hundreds of laws passed by Congress.

    7. Violating U.S. and state law by obstructing honest elections in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

    8. Violating U.S. law by using paid propaganda and disinformation, selectively and misleadingly leaking classified information, and exposing the identity of a covert CIA operative working on sensitive WMD proliferation for political retribution.

    9. Subverting the Constitution and abusing Presidential power by asserting a “Unitary Executive Theory” giving unlimited powers to the President, by obstructing efforts by Congress and the Courts to review and restrict Presidential actions, and by promoting and signing legislation negating the Bill of Rights and the Writ of Habeas Corpus.

    10. Gross negligence in failing to assist New Orleans residents after Hurricane Katrina, in ignoring urgent warnings of an Al Qaeda attack prior to Sept. 11, 2001, and in increasing air pollution causing global warming.

  • thank you! finally someone who respects the person who is his (be it temporary) ruler. its refreshing. and the media destroyed our poor president’s rep.

  • HA HA HA! Clearly you are ignorant and very wrong. Do you purposefully comment and write impudent entries to piss people off? Seriously.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic.

  • @bethechangeyouwish2see -

I know it’s the Iraqi’s that are making things better (that’s what I mean when I say things are going well!!), but they wouldn’t have been able to do that with Hussein still in power.
And your other issues make me laugh.  Especially the “loosening regulations on wall street” one.  I can tell that you haven’t done research for yourself.  Look at the history behind all of that.

  • love the comments by people who are beside themselves and are convinced it’s sarcasm.

it’s a way to see things.

here’s the thing: individuals making good decisions should always be able to succeed no matter the administration in the executive office as long as it is one that upholds our constitution. why? because America is good.

someone go do a research on media bias.

and it was sarcasm, right? maybe that question was sarcasm too.

  • Dear Dan:

George W. has done those things you mentioned and others besides.  In fact, his leadership at a critical moment in American history may have saved this nation.  It was for those reasons that his political enemies launched the most massive and blatant demonization campaign in history to subdue and destroy him.  That, in doing so, they likewise worked against the interests of this nation meant nothing to them.  To them, the attainment and maintenance of political power- by any means necessary- is the only consideration.  In that, they are no different from our enemies overseas.

In his disfavor, President Bush (like his father) was too willing to yield to his opponent’s agendas in order to continue policies vital to the country’s security.  The result was massive and unconstitutional social spending, the rise of socialistic entities and policies, the further erosion of traditional American values and the blurring of his party’s platform.  This likewise resulted in the economic downturn that his enemies hoped for… and exploited through their control of the media and other corrupted institutions that they control.

Now, for the first time in our history, we face despotism in the hands of self-seeking radicals.  The Presidents Bush never understood the nature of the enemy at home, even while being aware of its nature abroad.  That was their common failing.

You can’t compromise with evil.  You can only oppose it.  And to do that effectively, you must acknowledge it for what it is and communicate it openly.  Then you must lead the fight.  This, as President, Geoge W. Bush failed to do.  Thereby, while brilliantly checking a foreign threat to civilization, he may have allowed those enemies to undermine the key pillar OF civilization… the United States itself.

  • wow I really worry about all the sheeple who love Bush. IF you’re informed there’s one thing but how about taking EVERYTHING into consideration would you not change your tune? A few bad things? I hope your kidding…

  • Please allow me to offer a friendly reminder to everyone that our government has three branches: Judiciary, Legislative, and Executive.  Whatever criticism or credit we give to the Executive branch is likely due for the Legislative branch, too… at least in part.

  • man stfu ! you dunno wth you talkinq bout on some real shyt!
