Applying for a Job in the Obama Administration
President-elect Obama is taking applications for jobs in his administration.
He is asking questions that are considered more personal than previous administrations. This is in an effort to make sure nothing comes up later that might embarrass the administration.
The applicants are asked to list their blog posts and their Facebook pages. Here is the link: Link
I started to wonder if I had ever posted anything on my xanga, myspace or Facebook account that would disqualify me for a position in the Obama administration.
Do you think anything in your blog would potentially stop you from getting a job working for Obama?
Comments (88)
My xanga is almost 5 years old, I guarantee there are a plenty of things that would get me in some trouble
Well, I’m Chinese, so…
Yessir.
well mines protected. But the one post that is shown says fuck off…..so yea.
Definitely.
No. Unless you count my complete avoidance of controversial subjects. That could be good or bad, depending on what position I’m applying for.
i don’t know about you, but i’m pretty sure Obama would love to have a high school girl like me work for him!
i’m a shoo-in.
yes.
well there is that video….
If something in my blog didn’t disqualify me, what would be the point of having a blog?
the boob pic I sent you?
first of all, i am one of the eprop poor and YOU are one of the eprop rich…so i’m all for that
second of all, yes i have most definitely said things that would disqualify me from being on his administration…in fact, i think he would send the secret service to my house right away LOL
i would definitely NOT get the job.
I’m an unstable teenager who likes to smoke pot.
So, I don’t know, I could either be rejected for working for the president, or grow up to be the president.
@lovesporks - uh be careful here as I know what most will say.
I am sure you’d be ok theo. even with you stirring the pot.
oh screw the obama admin
More likely that not.
Ummm…they would probably think I am too boring if they read my blog. I also don’t worry about my spelling and grammer too much when I blog so that might hurt me too.
Considering I have “I do NOT like Obama” written in my facebook, yes.
But then again, I wouldn’t apply to work for the moron.
Considering I’ve been to prison, dated women and didn’t support Obama (all of which are documented EVERYWHERE), I’m thinking I won’t be invited to The Cabinet. Such a shame, though.
i want to get a job in the Bush administration, and ride out the last two months of glory.
When his transition team said on national tv that president elect Obama was ready to “RULE”, then I put away all my childish fantasies of working for the government by the people, for the people. I’m revamping my ideals for servitude under a dictatorship. CHANGE….yes we can0
Certainly.
Some of my comments here would count against me. My own blog is pretty boring.
hm. I may have mentioned once or twice that i don’t agree with the new president choice. Think that would disqualify me?
I hope so.
Not because I wouldn’t want to work for him, but because I’d hate to have squeaky-clean blogging spoil my reputation.
I would make a good receptionist. I’m a people person!!!!!!
I don’t believe I’d have a problem.
Well… I can’t see him exactly agreeing with my blogs.
But its okay, I don’t expect to be applying, anyhow… I know, thats such a shock.
Well since he is unable to handle any form of dissent and I have never tried to hide my dislike of the man or his policies, I am pretty sure that I wouldn’t even be able to get hired as a janitor.
Hell yeah, there is a ton of shit on my Xanga that would prevent me from getting a job with Obama and many other jobs. Although I don’t agree entirely with him asking some of these questions, I do totally understand why he is doing it and that it is a smart move. If Bush had asked questions of the people he hired he could have avoided some of the scandals and stories that came about in his administration. Also, asking these questions helps to eliminate potential distractions that could derail Obama and America in acheiving goals. Come to think of it, I think I’ve talking myself into agreeing with him.
Other than rampant dorkiness, no.
Hmmm… “how to make love stay… handcuffs and a metal support beam… shock collars and invisible fences work on all my bitches”…
No, I think I’d be number one pick.
Absolutely.
Yes, I’m way too conservative to even be considered. I haven’t sent a dead fish to anyone I don’t like and I don’t tell Republicans to F off. Those 2 things might disqualify me as well. jk
Probably.
I’m not afraid of making it known that taxing companies and giving the money away as welfare or tax breaks is just going to cause unemployment, so yeah, I don’t think he’d want to hire me.
Oh Hell No, this would be a resume enhancer
@steph843 - So well said………
Sure. My life is full of indesgressions.
Ohhh yeaahhhh.
Oh I am sure he would just love my site. I don’t think he would hire me
if so then couldn’t i just make it private…?
I’m so glad I didn’t send you boobie pictures.
I worry about all the stories I’ve been told of pictures cropping up where it was once thought they had been long since deleted. Besides that, no, i carefully plan out my pages so that they don’t include anything too incriminating. Except my thoughts on my xanga, I guess, but if they are willing to page through all that to find it… well, I just hope they aren’t.
@trunthepaige - We agree on much, but abortion. Can we fuck it out?
It would stop me.
If I really wanted the job, I would delete all of those websites. Gotta cover my tracks manggg
I was not a supporter of Obama. I didn’t like McCain either. I do know however that Obama will introduce MORE 1984 like legislation than ever before!
You see, people don’t understand.
If you beg the government to protect you, you give something up by accepting the help.
Stand alone or sit the fuck down.
Donkey Elephant Lose.
I’m sure it would, my blog is mostly about sex lol
@benjimau5 - I smell a libertarian
@trunthepaige - Can you teach me about stuff? I would listen. We could shoot things too. Gun sales up 15% since the election in NY. 200,000 applications for handgun permits since Obama was elected in Suffulk county.
Dont blame me, I didn’t vote!!
Yeah… I said stuff against his administration… so while he has no problem slandering existing authorities, he would certainly bring me up on charges of blasphemy for denying him were I to apply.
It was a JOKE people!
i drink too much.
i actually don’t drink that much, but i think my xanga makes it look like i do.
Hells fuckin’ yeah.
well, the fact that I ‘donated’ my status to john mccain? lol
No.
yeahhhhhhhhhh…..
Lack of belief in god. At the end of the day, this is still America. Same reason the Vatican has repeatedly rejected my application to join their exorcism squad. Bastards.
Probably.
Yeah, I’m pretty much disqualified from the start. I’m “too Christian” and I’ve referred to abortionists as baby-killers one time too many. That and I’ve recommended dozens of posts against the man. And I’ve written a couple against him… and … and… Yeah, not a chance.
@saintvi - Obama won’t touch controversial subjects anyway… so no need for concern!
No, probably not.
Bill Clinton would certainly hire me.
Well, damn. There goes my dreams of political power!
I’m going to put my blog on “friends-lock” that way the CIA and the secret service can’t read my posts. Suckers!
On my blog? I don’t think so. But I’m sure some super secret tech guy who works for the government would look at it.
Blogs should remain private, and none of an employers business- ANY employer. We have usernames for a reason. Facebook pages are more public (you can’t say anything without everyone on your friends list seeing it), so arguably that makes sense.
BTW, I wouldn’t blame a politician for the blog entries of one of their employees.
Erm, just wondering, how would they know whether the applicants lied or not?
They could pretend they don’t have a blog, and still bad-mouth Obama on their ‘private’ blog.
i am very careful with how i display myself to the public, so i have no fear!
If he is really doing that, then he is already guilty of breaking the law. Employers aren’t allowed to ask those kinds of questions.
Interesting.
Maybe.
My god yes.
I would never get any sort of political job…other than loudmouth pundit.
And that seems like a shit job anyway.
facebook, ok i get that but DIARIES? come on… that’s scary.
Probably not. I can’t think of anything right now.
It’s mostly pictures of me and my friends and family – clean pictures, of course. Then there’s all that wedding planning….
As a bisexual former Raver and LSD enthusiast, I’m going to go with… YES! Definite disqualifiers. Of course, I realize this, and it’s why I’d never become a politician.
Nope. I’ve learned to live in a way that does not embarrass me. Because if you’d be embarrassed – then likely you shouldn’t be doing/saying whatever it is.
Except that comment I left where I said Bill Clinton deserves as many blowjobs as he wants because the economy was so fantastic under his supervision. Though, I’m not embarrassed by that… I would just phrase it differently.
Ahhahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaha
No,there is nothing in my blogs that I am embarressed about but I would not work for President Obama….:)
No, there isn’t really anything bad on my blog.
I don’t think so. I try not to write anything that I would be embarrassed about later just in case potential employers come across it. And if I do find that I wrote something embarrassing, I just turn it into a private entry.
HAHAHAHA! Have you SEEN my xanga???
I think I’d be hired
I might lose some points for my “Impeach Obama” cause.
What do you think?::
http://apps.facebook.com/causes/143430?m=d6e8348b
There’s not much in my blog
Probably only the one where I said that Obama is a socialist. It’s true, but he’s very touchy about the label.
Haa. Yes.
i actually think its kinda cool that hes taking apps, instead of just picking his buddies.
Dear Dan: If not mine… whose??
