Phantom Period
I found this post on Shelly100‘s site:
“Ladies, please help. I have a period question.
Has anyone ever had a “phantom period”? I have all the symptoms, it feels like something is going on down there, but… no bleeding. Wtf? Is my uterus broken or something?”
Have you ever had a phantom period?

ha! All the time. I get cramps out of nowhere.
That’s what the gyno is for! Well, that and hopefully to deliver this baby!
Eww… why would you poast this?
I’m in perimenopause – I have all kinds of strange things going on.
I guess this isn’t a post I need to even comment on, but I did cuz I could
Are you ovulating? Some women experience very similar symptoms as PMS. I can almost always feel it. But it could be something more, so definitely check with your gyno. Always better to be checked out than assume it’s nothing.
That does happen sometimes. I will get cramps as if I had it. Normally though it’s just a preceding event to the real thing. lol
I’ve never had a period, I should probably get that checked out.
@UnworthyofHisgrace - lol! One day I’m going to have to use that one.
I know a girl who has PMS every day. Very sad…
When I ovulate I get all the period symptoms. It really sucks. It’s like having it twice a month. Reproductive organs FTL.
I’m not that intuned with my body. I say just google it.
@DrugInducedDuck - You should, you could die.
I do, but I have health reasons for it, so I would definitely get checked out by a gyno. It could be nothing, but it is always better to get it checked and have it be nothing then not get checked and have it be something…
Yes.
Try drinking water chika
@devilscrayon - I am with you there! That is just too personal and I really dont think he as in theologianscafe should be putting that question on here.
Seriously, Dan. Are you just writing entries about ANYTHING now?
Um, let’s see…no, but thanks for asking?
I guess the question is, “Have YOU ever had a phantom period?”
@mixcoolchick -
Yeah,
If a guy in real life asked me this I would be really uncomfortable, so yeah I was like WTF when I read this.
No, but I have been inexplicably irritable.
Nope. Not really.
No, THANK GOD!!! Maleness becomes me.
FIRST! No? I guess I missed it by a few.
I find it strange that there are some people who find this topic uncomforting. Why would thiat makes thisrtable topic?
Something going on Down There? Huh? Maybe…its discharge. Sorry for being explicit but get over it [offenders]
Only strange thing I get is having my period Off….as in, jumping around from beginning to mid to end, back up to the beginning of the month.
Nope
no? but i may not be very aware of my body.
I find the people that are actually uncomfortable about something like this to be hilarious, but then, I don’t have a vagina, so I guess I can’t relate.
Yeah, but they don’t last long.
I have one every month thanks to the Mirena. All the symptoms, none of the blood. I’m not gonna complain though. I like the money I save not buying tampons.
Preggo
@jediwa72 - Haha, good answer!
Yeah, it’s a darn pain. -_- The cramps and discomfort tend to last longer if you don’t have an actual period.
Wait, am I supposed to be indignant about this question? I thought women were SUPPOSED to discuss their periods. Now indignance is in. Honestly, I just can’t keep up anymore.
can’t asay that i have haha.
Cramps out of nowhere are typically a sign that a woman is ovulating. A lot of women ovulate more than once a month and can have cramps for up to three days during that period.
This started happening for me after I had kids. I ovulate three times a month!
Hmm nope.
dude, all the freaking time, its annoying as hell…
yes, happened a few months back.
Is it suppose to be “that time”? Are you pregnant? I have never had that happen!
@devilscrayon - i kno…its uncomfortable just to read..cus it none of his or others business.
she might be pregnant..8X
Yeah that happens (about) 4 days before the period. It happened to me – I just think it is probably gearing me up for my P.
Depending on how they deal with it.
That has happened to me before, but I have polycystic ovary syndrome….you should go to your doctor and get checked out. It’s probably nothing…but better safe than sorry!
LOL “is my uterus broken or something”…
Check a medical website…not xanga
@mixcoolchick - Yea, bottom line:
CREEPY.
@Chloe_Knz - haha…no wait…to get the blood flowing?
I believe I have felt this. It’s sometimes around the time I usually have it and then like… Nothing happens. It’s rather quite awkward.
Well, before doing anything, I would evaluate any changes in diet, exercise, environment, stress levels, sleep cycle, etc. and try to get more of sense of regularity. Sometimes changes like that throw us off.
Hhhm. I think only when I was pregnant.
not a question i expected you to be answering…
however, there are phantom periods in pretty much every assignment that my students turn in. i try not to have that problem myself, though.
No, once a month is enough for me!
Kathi
this happened to me once. right before i found out i was pregnant.
Well, this is pretty much gross but…
I did experience this for years before I actually “started.” I always wondered if something was wierd.
Later I had completely awful cramps without any actual action, and the pain actually put me in bed for a couple of days. The girl might want to consider going to her doctor or checking with them just in case.
I’m a little weirded you’ve posted this :-p
I believe to the person in question it means you’re ovulating. However if you have commonly experienced an irregular period before, are high stress, and experience this frequently it might be a good idea to get checked out. When it happens I’d suggest trying to exercise more and drink more water.
yupppp
confusing, but i love it
no bleeding? sweet!
Oh heck yes. The past 8 years I have at least 2 phantoms a year. My gyno says it’s because I don’t get an actual mense the months that I don’t ovulate [clearly my uterus is abnormal as the rest of me]. It bites though. If I’m gonna have cramps and all the other fun hormonal junk, I should at least have the ability to ovulate.
never had that. at least she’s not having multiple periods per month, which is something I have to cope with. I had three in 40 days once. damn genes!
interesting. it happens to me at tines. makes me uncomfy
@devilscrayon - because its an important issue that people shouldnt have a huge problem talking about.
and to answer your questions dan, nope. never.
@makethemakersmile -
Hahahaha, how is it important for Dan to know about women’s periods? Dan doesn’t have periods!
That’s whack. I mean if you want to tell random men about your period then all the power to you. To each his own!
That might just be your hormones, dear.
