7 Days of Sex Challenge
I have been posting for a few years now about these pastors who challenge the people in their churches to have sex for a certain number of days.
Pastor Ed Young Jr. is challenging the married couples in his congregation to have sex for 7 days straight. Here is the link: Link
His thinking is that God was pretty open about sex in the Bible and that it was designed for marriage so married couples should be having sex. In fact, some pastors preach that it is a sin not to have sex in marriage.
In a few of these churches, the pastor asks the married couple to make a public commitment that they will have sex during the campaign.
If your pastor asked you to have sex for 7 days, would you be willing to make a public commitment?

hahahahaha! Yes. I would just love the rest of the congregation to be thinking about me…naked…doing the dirty.
How about a private commitment? That I could do. (Pardon the pun)
First of all I think that is wierd. And second I wish I was having sex for 7 days straight, if I were I’d be telling everyone!
lol Crazy churches.
And how is it meant? Like just once a day?
Of COURSE I would!!!!
What the hell is wrong with these religious people?
That’s just all kinds of wrong.
I’ll have sex for seven days straight because I want to, not because some jesus fiend challanged me to.
i dont need others telling me to have sex
I would definitely pledge publicly. My old co-workers used to try to guess when I wasn’t getting sex on the regular… I was usually cranky, irritable and a pain in the bootay!
I don’t NEED someone to ask me to have sex for 7 days straight. I already want to do that…
Ummm…if i were married and i need a pastor to tell me to have sex….i think the fact that he had to say something would be the problem!!!!!!
Seven days in a row… blah, anything can get boring if it happens too often.
@SladeTheGreyFox - True…
yes.
Sure, why not.. I’d have no problem publicly committing
7 days? thats a weak challenge. lets go with 7 months.
Sure, sign me up!
Lol.
@Mommies_Little_Helper - oh really? that can be arranged…
No. Some things are just nobody else’s business. I might publicly tell the pastor to stay out of my bedroom, though. That could be fun.
Why not. Beats the crap out of proselytizing people into stupors.
That’s so awkward.
@lyricsninja - Tempting…but I’m not quite sure my fiance would like that!
Do they specify that is has to be with your spouse?
@Mommies_Little_Helper - look i never said anything about me. i could call your fiance and tell him you want sex 7 days in a row! problem solved [or a new one created when he asks who the heck i am]
I would. Not sure about the bf, though.
(And yes, I know that doesn’t technically count, since the church is all big on marriage and stuff. Ugh. Can someone say “fail!”)
i would, but i could imagine with the crazy schedules my hubby and i have right now , and the fact with 5 kids at home usually means sex at 3am, i would probably need a vacation to rest at the end of that…:)
lol i’m already at 4 days straight, whats another three? Oh what’s that, you have to be married? Oops, oh well, we practically are married already. People ask us all the time how long we have been married, and we have every intention of tying the knot after college. =]
ehh I might, but I probably wouldn’t…just because I’m not in the mood that often…I have more exciting things to do…
and, it’s funny how defensive and freaked out a lot of your commentors are, Dan…‘ohhh no, religion can’t touch sex!’….read the book in the Bible called The Song of Solomon, people…sex between a husband and wife is a beautiful thing ordained by God, and it is an example, on microscale, of the relationship between Jesus and the Church(not the religious organization, the whole community of Christians)…grow up!
Haha, I think I’d be doing that anyway.
yes i would. i don’t see anything wrong with that.
Haha, that wouldnt be a problem. My ex and I – we did it like rabbits SEVEN TIMES A DAY. lmao, i think once a day wouldnt be a problem, lol.
Dear Dan,
I’m not married and haven’t had sex in many years, so I’d have to pass.
Michael F. Nyiri,poet, philosopher, fool
Yeah, I heard about this on the radio weeks ago.
Dan, do you listen to 94.5 FM?
LMAO I don’t need a challenge to have sex but I can understand the kind of people who would see sex as a heavenly command, I have a gorgeous cuban lover and we need no other motivation than desire.
…as a 16 year old, I just feel really bad for the kids of these people. If my parents decided to do that I’d be so nastied out.
@lyricsninja - Good idea….I probably should have thought about having someone call him and tell him I needed sex a long time ago!
Of course… If I were married, that is… otherwise, I would call him a heretic.
If my husband wanted to make it public we were doing the 7 day commitment thing. Well, fine. But I ain’t going around announcing it.
@Mommies_Little_Helper - or you could just jump his bones…
Are you kidding? Abstinence for seven days would be a much bigger challenge.
if its just once a day they wouldn’t have to ask me. i’d already be doing that. but if its alll day for seven days straight….well maybe god could do that, cuz i know i couldn’t. ^-^
Sure, why not? If my husband was home now, you could bet I’d have sex for 7 days straight!!
That is so strange. I can’t ever imagine my priest saying “make a public commitment to have sex for 7 days.”
Lol. I think all the married couples should go to this church. JK.
no.
Uhhh sure why not? Is it really so unusual to have sex that often? maybe I live under a rock.
Where’s that church? I need to become a member.
Weird!
I’ll have sex whenever I want however often I want.
But HEY! If all the Christians in the world were having sex EVERYDAY – maybe the rude pushy ones would be a lot nicer.
… just a thought?
OMG! It’s an attempt to mass reproduce religious babies. ): Noes!
That’s one altar call that would have people running towards the front, eh?
Don’t have time………..
@SladeTheGreyFox - hahahha… LOL!
I could do that challenge in my sleep.
I think I’d tell my paster to stay out of it though…
eeww probably not.
yeah i would
while these pastors are right in their encouraging of sex among married couples as it is rightly a gift from God in that paradigm (and that paradigm only) i don’t think it’s right to make it an issue of public commitment.
I am 75 and willing to try. My wife probably does not think that I can, but I have 8 Viagra pills hidden that she does not know about.
I think making a public commitment is kind of weird. I mean, I wouldn’t have an issue with telling people about it, but it seems really strange to me to have to testify you’re going to have sex for seven days. It’s like the pastor’s trying to keep them honest, or make them feel like they’re more obligated to complete the challenge.
Why does the chick in the photo look like DJ Tanner from Full House?
i would think my pastor needed to mind his own business if that happened…
Yeah. If my pastor made the request and convinced me it was for a good religious purpose, I’d cut down to once a day for a whole week. It’s be tough though. So many cold showers!!
I agree with the idea behind the thing. Yes, sex is good, and married people should be having sex. I’d be glad to “meet the challenge.”. .privately. But it does seem like a private matter to me. So I’m glad my pastor has never called for any sort of public commitment.
It also seems to me, like this smacks of our cuture’s (even our evangelical cuture) desire to have a rule or a standard of behavior. . .when really, holiness or doing the right thing or loving your spouse properly is more about the condition of our hearts and less about # of times per week. I mean, theoretically, you could be having sex with your spouse daily, but resenting the crap out of him, therefore not loving him properly. You know what I mean? We always want something to measure our behavior, so that we can feel like we’re doing the job of sanctification (or holiness or good behavior) well, rather than depending on Christ and resting in His finished work. That’s what I think.
Is there some sort of itinerary? Certain moves at certain times or places that sort of thing? I just want to know what I’m getting myself into here. Is this a pyramid scheme? Is there a prize at the end?
@Anothermadhousewife - Amen.
@AliasUndercover - Haha, love the profile pic.
my hubby and i have so much sex a challenge would be hard for them to put us up to. but, if they challenged us we would at least have to try it.
I’d film it and turn it into a documentary and show it to the church.
I heard about this a week ago. My wife and I did it; sex is a beautiful thing in a marriage.
Possibly yes, but I don’t have pastor.
Yes, I would. I think sex is a natural, beautiful, creative act, and I’m writing an album about it.
Only thing is, seeing as I am a member of a different religion, you probably won’t see me in a church anytime soon.
You people need to spice up your sex lives FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!
@ClockworkBunny - You haven’t had sex with me then. Once a day? What is sex? How many hours do you have to be sexual before it counts as two times? How many times does she orgasm? What if he does but he keeps on going? What if there are two guys and it never stops?
I’d make a public commitment to have sex everyday for the rest of my life.
=D
well of course!
I guess I would? I would think..well, that’s really awkward, but I mean. Whatever. It wouldn’t kill me so I guess? Although if they was live demonstrations-I am not THAT religious
Sure…why not. It would be no different than any other day for me and my husband,
You fasely assume everyone has a pastor…
In any case, I don’t need to be challenged by anyone to have 7 days of sex.
If I had a girlfriend, I’d have NO problems.
Sure. Sex is grand and everyone should know how much I enjoy it…
no comment =)
Definately. As long as those 7 days fall somewhere after February 28 2009 (my wedding date)
That’s awesome. Hell yes
I remember my friend telling me her church was talking about this and asking the couples to have sex. She said it was painfully awkward because her parents agreed to it. -_-
I would totally have sex and let people know if I were married. Praising Jesus in all possible ways
I’ll have sex if I want to.
Oh… he meant sex between husband and wife. I thought it was something else… never mind.
lol, it’d be hard not to get into details and watch them squirm…
“my husband and i pledge to have sex for 7 days in every room of our home, including on the kitchen table, at all hours of the day, using all diffrent positions…in fact, we happened to pick up a book on sensual massage the other week so if anybody wants to borrow it…”
haha
Hell yeah, more sex for me!
Is the pastor male or female?
yes, it’s a preacher in Ft.Worth and he must be in his 20′s
more like 77 days, sure
yeah thats a little awkward. Also, I don’t see why amount of sex matters. As long as you are expressing enough love and both satisfied. Thinking or worrying about it too much causes greed/selfishness/anger.
Um….yeah! I’d have no problem with the public commitment part, if that’s what you’re asking. And why is sex for seven days such a big deal? Please tell me you don’t mean that seven days of sex is repulsive after you’re married. It certainly isn’t repulsive now, and I’m a heck of a long way from being married. If that’s what it’s like after being married, maybe I’d better rethink my life philosophy.
Whoo yeah!! why not?
wait, non-stop? jk.
I think that’s a wonderful challenge
You know it!
If it takes your pastor to make you want to have sex with your spouse you need major couples counseling!
That lady looks pumped about it.
yes.
do you really need to ask?
I think I would but I don’t really know right now. Can I get back to you on that.
Preacher-Pervs! Some things are private… um, like things you DO with your privates! (and how often!)
Is Preacher-Man hoping to grow his err–congregation? –firm up a flaccid interest within his flock?
Maybe he is clever.
Or, cunning…
OPE – I KNEW you’d go there!
oh, HELL YES.
’bout damn time.
i think drawing sex into religion is the same thing as drawing politics into it as well..
i find both stupid and ironic.
no i would never make a public committment, my sex life is mine own
i hate how society’s gotten
I don’t think I would let this pastor know anything about my personal business (if I were married/sexually active). So, giving into his 7 days of sex thing would be NO.
I don’t need any pledge or church to motivate me to have sex for a week straight- I’ll do it anyway!
7days? a bit tiring if you have a busy schedule..plus you have to make an effort to keep it exciting..i bet its a whole week of abstinence after the week of sex..hahaha
Hell yeah!
Yes, I probably would, because it really would be a challenge for my husband and I to do that all seven days–and we don’t even have kids or pets!
I think it is good that a church is speaking up about this and encouraging it between married couples. For so long people have gotten the impression that sex is wrong, even within marriage. I think it helps bond couples and helps keep them together through all the stresses in life, including children, work, financial stress, dealing with family members, etc.
i would think it was craziness if a pastor asked me to do such a thing.
but the challenge is intriguing in general. i cant remember the last time, IF EVER, that ive done such a thing
Sure, why not?
No thanks! I like my sex life to be private.
7 days x 24 hours = 168 hours of non-stop uninterrupted sex… Yes, I do believe someone will be very sore after that.
no that’s just weird…
That would weird me out, my pastor instructing me to have sex. It’d be creepy for him to want to be that involved with my sex life. He’s clearly Pervy McPreachalot.
Wow! What a brilliant way to take over someone’s mind — through Jesus and sex! I guess it does give new meaning to the “Second coming of Christ.”
He sounds like a man who isn’t getting any.
Public commitment? I doubt it. Besides, for old guys like me, seven days make one weak!
No, because I don’t believe a preacher should ask that of its church members and I wouldn’t want other people knowing when I am having sex.
No. My sex life isn’t public, and I’m disappointed that others seem to make theirs so.
I would be all about it, but hubby works long hours so he may be too tired to help out!
AWKward…
Hmm… That’s a toughie.
er my hubby might be sore after a biT, are we talkign all day or once a day here? i a m a pagan but if someone asked, it qwould be up to my hubby and hes a bit bashful. im still trying to get him to wear a kilt.
I think that is too personal for your pastor be talking about..
That would totally MAKE MY WEEK!
I suspect this pastor owns stock in the maker of Viagra and/or Cialis…
The way I read Leviticus 15, ceremonial uncleanness from sex lasts only until the evening (v. 18) as opposed to some other bodily discharge. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5
tells spouses not to deprive each other of sex except by agreement for
a time. Except for sex during the wife’s period, which is forbidden, I don’t see anything unscriptural about the challenge.
I assume the challenge is just that: a challenge. Sex daily would probably make it routine and less exciting. Proverbs 5:18-19
shows that sex was designed for pleasure, not just procreation. “The
wife of your youth” implies that a couple’s sexual desires are at their
peak during their youth and may decline with age. IMHO, couples should
try to have sex weekly, but no less than biweekly.
I read somewhere that couples who frequently pray together and couples
who frequently have sex have better marriages. I’m not sure whether
those are causes or effects, though.
We have only been married a year. It is not as if I need someone reminding us to have sex.
That church is a bit weird
Um, if I had a Pastor, was married, and wasn’t having sex every day in that marriage, sure.
Who says some married couples don’t do it already? Hahaha. I guess it would only be a “challenge” to some
