  • Terrorists in India

I have been out of the news loop for the last few days because of my birthday and Thanksgiving.

I did get a chance to talk on Facebook instant messaging to IncorrectPassword.  She lives in India and you can see she is in the Mumbai metro.  Mumbai is the heart of where all of this terror is taking place.

Over 119 have been killed according to a report I just read.  Muslim terrorists have taken hostages and gunfire has been breaking out.  It has much of the country in a situation of terror and panic.  Here is the link:  Link

While I was talking to IncorrectPassword, she referred to the situation as “our 9/11.”  In other words, it was their moment of terror where they were experiencing what we felt when we were coming under attack.

  • Wow, yeah you gotta pray for them…that’s sad.

  • Even worse is that not only locals were killed, but tourists of different countries were also victims of this incident.

  • Aw. I’ll definitely keep them in my thoughts.

  • @niez_cho - How does that make it WORSE just because they’re tourists? Its a tragedy no matter who was killed.

    =( </3

  • I agree with m1kyo, but I don’t think she was really meaning it like it sounds. I don’t see why someone would say something like if it was just locals it wouldn’t be as bad..that’s terrible.

  • That was so horrible and unexpected…

  • That’s awful. Why India? They’ve never struck me as a world power. I could totally be wrong, though, I know very little about world politics.

  • @FallenReign - They’re on the road to out-populating China. And have you noticed all the tech support people have an Indian accent?

Yeah, I heard foreigners were targeted and it was done (allegedly) by a little known group. My guess is that they wanted to harm foreigners but didn’t have the expenditures to attack out of India, their home base.

  • I never know what to say when I read about something like that. It’s just so terrible, I’ll be keeping them in my prayers.

  • it’s terrible, and terrifying…it upsets me that they refer to these disgusting people as ‘Islamic Militants’, rather than the more accurate nomer–’Murdering Terrorists’…

  • @aznhellaangel - Ohhh. Thanks…I knew that they were almost as populated in China and about all the outsourcing, but I guess I didn’t realize…

  • And WHY is it that liberals in our country think these people can be reasoned with? This will happen to us again with liberals in charge, remember it!

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace - It happened to us when liberals weren’t in charge. I do not think you can blame it entirely on any political party but on the groups themselves. Then again it is easier to blame the party in charge.

  • there are so many 9/11′s

  • This qualifies as an invasion of Mumbai. No matter who the invaders are or where they come from.

  • @m1kyo - I’m not really comparing the 9/11 incident and this terrosist attack. I think this is more like the Bali incident more than 9/11 because tourists were involved.

  • @TakingxOverxMe - We will see, I surely hope I’m wrong

  • No one seems to be spaired from tragedy these days, that was an aweful attack.

  • @aznhellaangel - And before 911, there had never been attacks like that, so no party could have known. We now know how they fight, but still there are some that think they can be reasoned with, THAT is all I’m saying and that is not BS @TakingxOverxMe -

  • Sounds terrifying!

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace - I think it will happen with anyone in charge…but I agree that, with liberals, we are having all of our defenses stripped. gun control laws are BS, and plans to dismantle our missile system/defenses are nonsensical and only make us more vulnerable.

  • @greenbird321 - The way I see it, liberals are more concerned with power than protection, thats what is scarey,THAT makes us volnerable

  • @niez_cho - I’m not saying you’re comparing anything. I’m saying that whether or not there were tourists should not affect the degree of how tragic it is.

  • It’s so sad.  This is probably one of the few forums that I’ve been exposed to in which people are actually discussing this issue.  No one that I know personally shows an interest in the events that are happening in Mumbai. ]:

I don’t think we’ve seen an attack this bad like this one in awhile.  I just hope that all the hostages are released quickly and out of harm’s way.

    ]:

  • must have been a disgruntled former dell employee,,, now we can have a new saying,,,,” went dell on them” ,,,,, i guess.

  • Horrible.  There should be 125 people who died now.   Why?

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace - …I don’t think terrorists care who is in charge when they do these things.

  • India. Who would’ve thought, eh? It’s sad. My school community is praying a lot for these people. We’ve got a teacher and a lot of students with their extended families in Mumbai. The past few days have been tense and scary.

  • Attacks like this happen all the time, it just depends on whether it is News worthy enough for the media to actually publicize it.  Terrorists do things like this to get the media’s attention.  They accomplished their mission.  I was in Mumbai two years ago when my ship pulled in and I was actually staying at one of the hotels mentioned in the attack.  I’ve been to many countries but Mumbai(formerly Bombay) humbled me more than any other place I’ve been to.

  • Awwwwwwwwww.
Im sure the Indians will not retaliate. What do you think?

  • i hope everythin’s okay soon.
wat’s happnin to this world anyway?

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends of the victims of this tragedy. When I heard about this, I just can’t fanthom in my mind what on earth would make people do something like this. This world is going down hill fast and unfortunatelyi it will only get worse before it gets better.

    -Mely

  • Thats scary!
I had seen that on the news & my heart goes out to all those citizens! *sighs*
This world is just falling apart!

I should go read more on this. I want to see what the news is now!

  • …I think it’s up to 143 people now, including a canadian…

It’s horrible. No matter where or who or why – this kind of hostage/terror situation is brutal.

  • Pray for those injured and killed in this cowardly attack.

  • @the_evil_tamica - No they don’t,if you don’t follow their thinking, you are to die in their thinking.Thats why it is inportant who we have in charge, someone who knows ANYONE is a threat no matter how big or small they are. The liberals about to take charge of our country don’t look at it that way.

  • I wish America reported news like this everyday. The only news they’re concerned with is if a dog bites a journalist. Just because tourists are involved is the reason why this bit of news has been on CNN for awhile. If it had just been the local people, it would not have been on the news and it would not be making such a big headline. That’s what sickens me the most. We only care about our people, but not others.

  • When I found out, I cried, then called my uncle, who very sleepily replied that he was in Hyderabad for his anniversary. Then I cried again, but this time out of thankfulness.

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace -

What a fucking disgusting thing to say. I’m no fan of Obama, but this kind of partisanship is one of the many things that is hampering the U.S. political system currently.

At the very least, be respectful of the tragedy that happened in India (which is what this post is about) and don’t use it as a soapbox to preach against liberals.

  • yes, I can see why they refer to it as their 9/11, especially after last night’s resurgence of unanticipated confusion/violence

  • that’s depressing.

  • @FallenReign -

Unfortunately terrorist attacks in India are not a new occurrence. Kashmir has been a virtual blood bath at times, and though it looked like the relationship between India and Pakistan were getting better, this will not help in the least.

  • fox is always first to assume Al Qaeda is responsible. as for the liberal comment, that’s some high grade american BS.

come on people, let’s not take sides her. I mean, how can you choose between two groups who are unwilling to compromise? We should not be backing israel, and the middle east should not be backing palestine. simple as that. no one wants to share, and this is what happens as a result. so don’t give me that “how can we compromise with ‘those’ people” because honestly, we’re all those people. there is nothing just about the whole situation.

  • @whataboutbahb - Dude, someone has to look at the reality. I was not in any way being disrespectful of this tregedy. It’s a terrible thing that happened. No need to curse at me about it.

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace -

“Dude, someone has to look at the reality.”

To me it appears like you live in a self-constructed reality that seems to think that liberals want to hold hands and dance around in circles with terrorists. Please outline what foreign policy changes by Obama that will most assuredly lead directly to another terrorist attack on the U.S.  I would love to have a better view of the reality that you’re living in. If you can’t, just please shut the fuck up, especially on a thread where these comments have no place.

  • I watched it on the news. It’s extremely terrible. The world needs healing!!

  • Yeah, I have heard quite a bit about this. Sad, sad stuff. I’ve been praying for India a lot lately.

  • why did this crap have to happen on a holiday……that just ruins the whole spirit :(

  • Yes,my heart goes out to this country…
