  • The Obama Girls and Hannah Montana

The daughters of President-elect Barack Obama have been asked to appear on the show “Hannah Montana” starring Miley Cyrus.

His daughters are big fans of the show.  Here is the link:  Link

I was listening to the radio this morning and one of the people on the radio show voiced concern about the girls appearing on the show.  He said that if they appear on the show, they will open themselves up for all kinds of media attention and scrutiny by the press.

I know if I was president, my 4 year old daughter would force her way on the show.

Do you think the Obama family should allow their daughters to appear on Hannah Montana?

  • Obama Kisses Daughter on the Lips

Here is a photo of President-elect Barack Obama kissing his daughter on the lips.

Maybe it was just the way I was raised but I would have felt funny kissing my mom or dad on the lips.

Would you feel uncomfortable kissing your mom or dad on the lips?

  • Great Job President Bush

I just want to thank President Bush for all of his hard work as president of the U.S.

He has done such an amazing job with the economy and national security.

When President Bush was elected president, the gas price was $1.71 a gallon that week.  Here is the link:  Link  Just this morning, gas was only $1.69 per gallon in one place in Houston.  That means an actual drop in gas prices!!

The value of our homes has gone up.  The average home went up in value significantly over the last 8 years even if you count the recent movements in the housing market.  Here is the link:  Link

My household income more than doubled from 2000-2008.

He unified our country after the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history.  He led wars on two fronts which no president has done since WWII.

He greatly increased the size of the military.

Thank you so much for your hard work and determination.

I just hope the new guy doesn’t mess everything up.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger: ‘We will maybe undo’ Prop 8

Arnold Schwarzenegger has suggested that the courts in California may undo the vote of Prop 8.

The voters of California voted to stop homosexual couples from marrying.

The Governor said, “It’s unfortunate, obviously, but it’s not the end.  I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area.”

He believes that once again the courts will overturn the will of the people.

Do you think the courts should overturn the will of the voters?

  • Auto Bailout

Democratic leaders are pressing the Treasury Department to bailout the automotive industry.

Congress had passed a $700 billion rescue plan but it was designed for financial institutions like banks.  The reasoning at the time was that if the banks failed, the taxpayers would have to pay for it anyway.

But now the desire is to use some of that money to bailout the automotive industry in an attempt to save tens of thousands of jobs.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think our tax dollars should go toward saving the automotive industry?

  • iPod and Hearing Loss

Are you at least a little concerned that devices like the iPod are going to damage your hearing?

  • The Oprah Effect

Oprah endorsed Barack Obama at a time in the primary when he really needed it.  She appeared in public with him and drew crowds for him before he was drawing crowds on his own.

I am not sure that Obama would have beat Hillary without the help of Oprah.  Some have discussed whether Oprah hurt herself by throwing her weight behind Obama.

I actually think Oprah asserted herself as a power player and has emerged from this situation a more powerful influence.

I have always appreciated Oprah’s approach in that Oprah uses her influence to lift up other African Americans.  She will highlight authors and assist people in succeeding.  Contrast this approach with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who basically push African Americans down and tell them they need them to protect them.

Do you think Oprah was hurt by her support for Obama?

  • Sex Secrets

    (This is from postsecret).

Do you think it is wrong to talk to your friends about your sex life?

  • Blaming Palin

There are some people with in the Republican party that are blaming Sarah Palin for John McCain’s loss.  Here is the link:  Link

I am trying to think of who John McCain could have picked that would have suddenly made him a winner.

Do you think Sarah Palin is responsible for John McCain’s loss?

  • Graduating in the 10th Grade

Education officials believe that 10 graders may be able to graduate from high school.

They would then be freed up to move on to college early.  These students would be given a test to make sure they were prepared. Here is the link:  Link

I went to a high school that was considered one of the top in the state at the time.  But I also felt like I was outgrowing it.  Some kids in my high school started taking college classes when they were in high school.

Do you think 10th graders should be given the opportunity to graduate early?
