  • New Years

So what are your plans for tonight?

  • An “Ish” Site of My Own

I have been thinking that it would be cool to have an “ish” site of my very own.  I mentioned to xanga that I would like to have my own website that has a “.com” ending without the xanga name included.

It would include keeping all of my current subs but would also give me an opportunity to reach people outside the xanga community.  Plus the ads would pay more and I want to take all of that money from the google ads and reinvest it in my site.  Currently I pay my google money to my son who makes friend request for me.

We will see if xanga will create a site like that for me.

In the mean time, I am thinking about possible names.

    1.  thetheologianscafe.com

This name is now available but someone mentioned to me that it is kind of a long name for a website.

    2.  theologianscafe.com

Still sort of long and hard to spell correctly.

    3.  theoscafe.com

This one is short enough.  My only problem is that it takes out the “theologian” which was the basis for my site.  My framework for my site was always a theologian taking a look at the every day issues of life and even challenging conventional Christian wisdom that was not rooted in the Bible.

I am a little concerned that taking “theologian” out of my name would make me lose some of that thought.

    Which name do you prefer?

  • Self-Reflection

Another xanga friend of mine and I were talking on the phone one day and he indicated that I made his wife mad with some of my posts.  I asked him if she was subscribed to me and he told me “no.”  He said that she wouldn’t visit my site.  She would just read the titles from the RSS feed because she didn’t want to even give me the footprints on my site.

He told me that just the title of some of my posts makes her angry.

After hearing this I could not help but to take a moment to do some serious self-reflection.  During that deep reflection I came to understand an important truth.

Some of my xanga friends have bad taste in women.

  • Nipple Piercings

In Australia a new law was passed that will require a person to be 18 years old to have their nipples or genitals pierced.

If a piercer pierces someone under 18 years of age on an intimate body part, he/she will face a $6600 fine.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think a person under 18 should be allowed to get his/her nipples or genitals pierced?

  • Freezing to Death

A man is being charged with second-degree murder of his 11-year-old daughter.

His truck broke down on Christmas Day and while he was trying to fix it, he let his 12-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter walk 10 miles.  The temperature was said to be between 27 degrees above zero to minus 5 degrees.  His daughter died of hypothermia on the walk.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think the father should be charged with second-degree murder?

  • Dear Dr. Datingish, Yes I Did Hit Her

She kept on nagging me about drinking and smoking.

She is always trying to change me.

Why are women always trying to change their man?

  • Paris Hilton: Don’t Hate Me Because I Am Rich

I have noticed a few articles written in the last few days that mentioned how much money Paris Hilton was spending.

The articles all managed to mention her spending and the tough economy.  There is a mention of how people are without jobs and how people are starving in other countries.  She spent about $5000 in a store the other day.  Plus she bought a new car.  Here is one of the links:  Link

What is interesting to me is how the articles are written.  It appears to be that people think Paris should spend less money because other people in this country are experiencing hardship.

Does it bother you to see Paris spend so much money during difficult economic times?

  • Virginity Pledges

A recent study found that teens that make virginity pledges are just as likely to have sex as teens that don’t make the pledges.  They are also less likely to practice safe sex.

The study actually compared “those who had taken a virginity pledge with similar teens who hadn’t taken a pledge but were likely to delay having sex” but “didn’t include teens who were unlikely to take a pledge”  Here is the link:  Link

The study found “Virginity pledgers and similar non-pledgers don’t differ in the rates of vaginal, oral or anal sex or any other sexual behavior.  Strikingly, pledgers are less likely than similar non-pledgers to use condoms and also less likely to use any form of birth control.”

Do you think virginity pledges are ineffective?

  • Unsubscribing Etiquette Part 2

I was talking to a xangan friend on IM tonight and he mentioned that his wife had unsubscribed to me.  I understand in that that tends to go with the territory on my site.  My best guess is that I have had 6000-7000 people unsubscribe to me over the last 3 and a half years.

Some of them tell me and some of them don’t.  I wouldn’t know if people did not post it or specifically tell me.  But apparently this time it was because of a post I had written.  I was sorry to see her go.  She is a nice lady.

But here is my situation now.  I am subscribed to her.  I have been since I heard she had subscribed to me.  So my problem is that now I know I upset her so much that she unsubscribed to me.  I wonder if I might just cause her anger if I continue to comment on her.

Should you unsubscribe to someone if they unsubscribed to you?
