An “Ish” Site of My Own
I have been thinking that it would be cool to have an “ish” site of my very own. I mentioned to xanga that I would like to have my own website that has a “.com” ending without the xanga name included.
It would include keeping all of my current subs but would also give me an opportunity to reach people outside the xanga community. Plus the ads would pay more and I want to take all of that money from the google ads and reinvest it in my site. Currently I pay my google money to my son who makes friend request for me.
We will see if xanga will create a site like that for me.
In the mean time, I am thinking about possible names.
1. thetheologianscafe.com
This name is now available but someone mentioned to me that it is kind of a long name for a website.
2. theologianscafe.com
Still sort of long and hard to spell correctly.
3. theoscafe.com
This one is short enough. My only problem is that it takes out the “theologian” which was the basis for my site. My framework for my site was always a theologian taking a look at the every day issues of life and even challenging conventional Christian wisdom that was not rooted in the Bible.
I am a little concerned that taking “theologian” out of my name would make me lose some of that thought.
Which name do you prefer?

The second.

Of course, I like the onslought of “ish” sites…beyond all the hype.
as for a name? hmmm…so long as we can link it through the BFN, I’m cool with Whatever.
(I wanted to make http://www.brainfriednetwork.com just BFN…but that’s used already)
the first one…
third
Well, IMHO I don’t think http://www.thetheologianscafe.com is too long at all. It’s simple and straight-forward. But if you’re thinking about something shorter, I would probably opt for simply http://www.theologian.com. I think it’s available… or at least for sale.
is thetheologian available? if not I say number 2.
I like the 3rd. very short and catchy.
the first one is good
The 3nd one
2 or 3, but 3′s my fav.
#3 – Very catchy.
Happy New Year’s, Dan!
#1
first one.
I like the first one. Who cares if it is long? Hmmm, Dan… your own site. That could be very interesting.
First one.
#2 or hell, even #1. it’s not that bad to type out and hell, once it’s typed in, it can be bookmarked and never typed again.
people need to stop being so lazy.
the second one.
Keep your title! Other sites may be long in name, but that doesn’t stop them!
I’d say #2… or you can be Thinkish.

1. Who care’s if it is long, with firefox you only need to start typing and the history will come up. ^_~
Keep your original name. I would be worried if I had people reading who couldn’t even spell my name correctly.. 0.0
We all know you as #1. Hopefully you also just purchased that domain name already at one of the cheapie sites…
#2
I like theologianscafe.com. You can always buy all three domain names and redirect them all to your home site.
theologianscafe
I like two and three. Two most likely
1, if not then 2.
breastsforbreastcancer.com
I like #2
I choose 2.
I didn’t know you were a theologian.
#2!
I’d say #1 but it says thetheologians and it’s two the’s in a row. I mean, I know the second one isn’t really a the, but it looks funny to me.
I say the first or second, theologian is aferall the basis of your internet identity…I don’t think you should do away with that. Besides, if I can take the time to type in victoriassecret.com then I should be just as capable as typing in whatever you choose.
@AlterEgo909 - I like that one!
I wouldn’t go for theoscafe.com, it sounds like a place for old men and it looses some of your magic :]
Go with the first one. Those who don’t want to type THAT MANY letters (OMG) can just bookmark it.
#1 or #3.
The thing with it though, if its a religious name with Christian insights, there’s already revlife for that.
Ich mag nummer zwei.
I like number two, and if you want a real website, I can host you for free, cPanel and all
I like TheTheologiansCafe. But I don’t like the idea of you having your own personal “ish” site. I don’t think that’s fair unless it’s accessible to everyone.
i like http://www.theologianscafe.com
but if you DO go with http://www.theoscafe.com, you could always put up like, some kind of banner that says “THE THEOLOGIANS CAFE” in big huge letters =P
The original is always the best choice…for me.
#2
One.
You sure have big dreams, Dan. =P
I don’t know Xanga makes website request. If so, I want one too. As for your website title I like # 1. It’s longer but that’s who you are. Most of your reader recognized and associate that name to you. By changing the name, would not be the same.
#1
TeaWithTheo,com!
okay… #2
Use the first one. It may be long, but it’s the original name and people will remember it if they are looking specifically for you.
I think the second one is best.
Kathi
#1
Go with theologianscafe.com
#3
Or, here’s another idea:
Go with theoscafe.com
Then, have a banner at the top of the site that says “The Theologian’s Cafe“
If possible, you could also make the text at the top of the web browser read “The Theologian’s Cafe” where it currently reads “TheTheologiansCafe’s Xanga Site”
i think that theoscafe is the best, but theoglianscafe wouldnt be bad.
thetheoglianscafe is, yeah, too long. to me, it kinda just looks like the the oglians cafe. like, you used “the” twice or something.
nice site =)
and thanks for adding me!
-brand new graphic site in xanga–>
COLORsplurge.
we’re gonna be different.
The second.
This doesn’t sound like the Dan I know. Is this Sarcastic Sophosticated Sneaky Humor?jl
I say go for theoscafe.com. Nobody really pays attention to what they’re typing into the address bar. It’s what’s advertised as a headline for the site that matters.
I like the first one…length isn’t really a problem for me. And I doubt it’s a serious problem for most people. It doesn’t take that much time to type thetheologianscafe.com PLUS, after going once, it’ll be accessible in history.
Yeah, don’t cut out the theologian part. After all, you said it was the basis.
numero uno.
either 1 or 2….. who cares about the lazy people who don’t want to type out the whole thing
I wouldn’t drop it to just ‘Theo’, it was a good year before I realized who people were referring to when they called you “Theo”. I’m also not an avid reader though…
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with TheTheologiansCafe.com. It worked well as a username, it would work well as a stand-alone domain.
By the way, that’s a great part-time job your son has. Making friend requests all day. Hahaha.
numero uno.
TheoCafeish.
Danish. (ha ha)
#2. It keeps the meaning, but isn’t terribly long like #1. #3 is a little too… personal. Besides, your name isn’t Theo.
I say go with #1, it’s original.
Or just call it “asianfetish”. That way you can have an ish in it and you get more views on your site because people think it’s a dirtay site or something.
Hehe.
http://www.imtoogoodforxanga.com
I prefer one or two. But I also don’t care very much either. It doesn’t matter much does it?
numero uno
I’m alright with number one.
first or second
thetheologicanscafe.com
Your son friend requests for you? : O
#1 or #3 are both okay.
#1 and I hope you do get your own ‘ish’ site that would be amazing
#1
#1
#1
The first one. ^_^ It’s the namesake that made you popular in the first place. (^_^)b
How about something entirely different? Maybe drunkentiger.com or something else equally eye-catching. Let your content speak to your intent once you have that attention.
if you don’t get a domain, make a DanIsh site. haha, so punny
2
Why does it matter what we think? Go with your whatever.
Theoscafe is easier to type. You’ve been getting away from the theological angle for a while now. Maybe it’s time for a new name.
#1.
i’ve seen waaayyyy longer names for webbies.
what about …..” topics getting stoopider by the day.com “ ?
#2!
#2
either of the first two, I think. because yeah, it would seem too different without the theologian part.
Happy New Year!
theologian.com
I like the first one
the first one!
2
theoscafe.com
It sounds like a cute nickname for theologians cafe. You can still have theologians cafe posted on your page but the link just be theoscafe.com. I think I’ll start calling you Theo. It’s cute.
really now….whats in a name anyways???
its just a silly orgy of letters….blah….make it even shorter and have it T-C.com hahahaha =P
There are always bookmarks so it would only have to be typed in the once. I think it would be best to keep the whole name so people can find you. I think I want a weirdish site myself but no one would actually come to it. Oh well I think I”ll just see about getting a domain for my website instead.
#2 Definitely a winner!
)
The first one. Or theoish.com.
#2
#3
2 most def` =]
theologianscafe.comish
#3
If people are either so lazy or so intellectually and/or educationally challenged that they can’t spell your site, they probably wouldn’t “get it”, anyway. Go with what YOU prefer!
But if you really want a vote, i like #2.
like 2… but also 3… 1′s just a lil’ too much…
keep the original
You want an “ish” site. Why not theologian-ish.com .
Don’t worry about a name being too long. People remember your site name, use bookmarks AND you can always buy the shorter web addresses and just link them.
Stick with what works and/or just do what you want. It would be your site and it sounds like a super great idea.
The last one, it’s nice and simple.
I will go for number 1
shoot all of these new sites i want my own site too! lol theessencescafe.com lol!
but no i would go with thetheologianscafe.com. if people cant spell it oh well. lol they need to learn.
Just call it “danscafe”. It doesn’t seem like there’s a strongly identifiable Christian undertone to this blog anyway. It’s not like you quote scripture or talk about Jesus a lot. It seems more so secular, from the surface at least. You could always put a headline banner on your new blog saying something like “Sorting out the pieces from a theologian’s perspective.” That would set the theological tone, if that is what you’re trying to convey.
@NikBv - Yeah, like Nick said, something exotic and eye catching. How about maybe: braineatingzombiehamsters.com
the first one :]
What about keeping Theologian and dropping the cafe?
It seems like everyone has different opinions…
I personally find “thetheologianscafe.com” to be best because that is your blog’s name, and it’d seem like a different blog if you changed it.
theologian.com
#2
well, i think you should invent yourself.
#2 – or #1 as my second choice. The “theologian” is important.
