Welcome Obama
We can question whether the count was legitimate that led to President Bush becoming president against Al Gore 8 years ago.
Yes we can.
We can question whether the Supreme Court’s decision was appropriate.
Yes we can.
We can grumble all through the swearing in of President Bush questioning whether he was really the real president.
Yes we can.
On 911, we can discuss whether it was appropriate for President Bush to just sit there in the classroom.
Yes we can.
After 911, we can discuss whether President Bush should have done more to protect us.
Yes we can.
We can even make suggestions that he was involved in the taking down of the towers.
Yes we can.
We can watch as congress authorizes force.
Yes we can.
We can say President Bush went too far in going into Iraq.
Yes we can.
We can say that he was incompetent.
Yes we can.
We can mock him when he talks.
Yes we can.
We can blame the economy for the last 8 years on him.
Yes we can.
Now we have a new president.
If the troops withdraw too quickly from Iraq and cause a civil war, we can blame Obama.
Yes we can.
If gas prices begin to go up again, we can blame Obama.
Yes we can.
If terrorists attack us in two years, we can blame Obama for showing weakness in Iraq.
Yes we can.
We can also say that Obama knew something about the attacks before they happened.
Yes we can.
If the economy doesn’t improve, we can blame Obama’s new policies.
Yes we can.
If we see a few examples of government corruption in the next 4 to 8 years, we can blame Obama for not bringing change to Washington.
Yes we can.
If Obama slips up in his oath today, we can immediately jump on him and make fun of him.
Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can.

LOL. YES!
nicely put
haha!
Ahhhh, so very true.
lucky for Roberts, he’s got that position FOR LIFE.
that’s the job to have, really.
whatever floats your boat
i think I blamed Bush for everything because I didn’t like him.
doesn’t he get a grace day before we make fun of him? smh…
Yes, yes we can.
And actually- the person prompting him with his oath said it incorrectly- Obama did not. He hesitated because he knew the other guy wasn’t saying it correctly.
the death of a nation….
Yes, we can. Haha!
I just hope people realize he’s not some genie who is going to make everything better overnight. They’ll be sorely disappointed.
well said. Yes, we can. @funeral_by_razor & Dan - BTW I agree that it was the justice chief who messed up and made it confusing. NBC was commenting on this.
funeral_by_razor is right. But even if it HAD been President Obama’s fault, it was kind of endearing–I know I would mess up on my oath if I was in that position.
Yeah. True. And if he does well and everything changes, there will be those who WON’T blame it on Obama but instead say that Bush’s last policies or whatever caused the change.
Can’t please everyone. But I have a feeling that Obama will definitely try his damned hardest to make the world a better place – not just in a classroom and do nothing.
Awesome, simply awesome, Dan.
LOL. Bob the Builder… YES WE CAN!
Is there anyone else we can pick on in the time being?
Haha. I like you so much.
@KyohakuMegami - That is refreshing honesty.
I think this is the most I have seen you write.
I actually refuse to act like the Democrats acted for the past eight years. I’m still free to criticize on principle, but teensy slip-ups really aren’t that big a deal.
Hopefully we won’t have to do some of those things.
Good luck, President Obama. You are going to need it.
Lol, You’re awesome Dan.
America is great.
Mhm.
You, sir, are without a doubt the coolest writer on Xanga.
That’s the joy of being president
one thing you can’t blame Obama for is the state of things as they are NOw, and that sets possibilities he has to work with
@seedsower - You’re so adorable!
as has been stated Obama didn’t screw up the oath so no you can’t
@Sirius_Fan_Girl - haha, no, it’s fucked. J/k.
Yes We Can – Yes We Did.
Um, yep…I think you got it right.
I’d rather just work together. Turn your cheek, Dan, turn your cheek. I know I will.
Suppose this is all just part of Freedom of Speech.
it is very true!
in our society, we tend to blame others for the misfortunes.
@MomGoneMadd - So are you sporting that cute do.
You got your moments, Dan ol’ buddy.
@randomneuralfirings - I’m trying to be the same way. Bush has been so disrespected in his leaving of office, and I am trying not to sink to that level with Obama. Just this morning I saw so many “Goodbye King George” statements, and then here on Dan’s site this morning he used the term “King Obama” and people jumped all over him for being disrespectful. Apparently it’s a one-way street. I still believe in The People, not the big Government.
Get in, sit down, hang on, and shut up……….
@Mean_Mistress - Unfortunately, I don’t think it works that way. Bush never saw a day of grace during his days.
Can we fix this?
obama didn’t slip up you idiot. how many times do people have to explain to you what happened before you get it???
Yes I will…Yes I will…Yes I will!! I’m not big on saying “I told you so”, but in his case I will make an exception
You’re a racist.
Bless him. It’s a hard, hard job. : (
I love it. Yes liberals, it goes both ways.
-sigh-
It was totally the cheif justice that screwed that up!
Welcome to America.
Of course, because WE’RE never to blame now are we (?)
Can I continue to be apathetic about this entire situation until I see actual action?
Ok..LOL Kris has decided you need an assignment post – How about the Fire Proof book.? You should get it & walk through it here with some insight on how your wife responds.
Oh, silly politics!
How fascinating it all is. haha. And by the way, it was actually the judge that messed up the wording.
haha, I like how Obama is becoming the media’s politician version of the iPhone: Jesus.
@seedsower - Hey.. if you can make a shampoo faux hawk, I suggest you do! It wont be long before my hair is too long to pull it off anymore.
And the point for this being what? Instead of blaming the president for everything that goes wrong, why don’t we look at the people involved with the choices/actions and blame them for their wrong doings. If your point was to show how some people reacted to Bush being at fault for everything (which he certainly wasn’t) and that you/others should be allowed to do the same thing with Obama, then all you seem to be doing is joining the likes of the people who were just unhappy that “their president” wasn’t elected and ignoring the facts of the issues which is something that everyone should be focusing on.
It’s childish.
All I have to say is
Obama Inauguration Cost $150 Million
@Millsanicole - haha. I agree.
YES WE CAN!
We certainly can. Well put. Haha
@slowlydisappearingforever - And the Bush 2005 inauguration cost roughly $157 million. You should read mediamatters. They show the actual facts that some reporters don’t mention, or didn’t realize when those reporters said what they did.
Pahaha, the Chief Justice went without notes, which made him mess up because he was nervous, making Obama look dumb. Oh well. xD
my economics teacher openly said “He’s going to get so much shit for that.” when Obama slipped up.
@lostintranscension - my point is that Obama is talking about “change”. Well this is not helping. it could have been on tv without spending all that money.
Mr. McMahon makes that in PPVs
@mstigerfrogs - Haha. Well, it is a pretty screwed up show…
well said. great post.
I hope there’s not another “9/11″ when Obama is president during his eight-year term. I can’t bear the massacre of killing American citizens like 7 years ago.
Can we built it?
haha nicely put, Dan.
sooo true
@Sirius_Fan_Girl - i hate bob the builder, lol.
We can also applaud President Obama for igniting hope among a group of people who were once politically apathetic (non-whites, and the youth vote for example).
Yes we can.
We can admire both Presidents Bush and Obama for their desire to protect the country that they love.
Yes we can.
We can attempt to cut back at the jibing and realize that we will need BOTH men, and their parties, when trying to solve the problems before us.
Yes we can.
We can lay our cynicism and differences aside and put some faith in both our president AND our congress to look out for the best interests of this country and her people.
Yes we can.
We can rise above shallow party politics and hope that those in power will do the same when developing and enacting the policies that will shape our future.
Yes we can.
It’s more than a political slogan. It’s the anthem of a group of people, the formerly apathetic, who have decided that they can make a difference, that they can have an impact, and that we can face our problems head-on. Sure, we can give him just as much grief as we have his predecessor and place the same blame on him as we have on Bush should the next four years bring us more troubles. But I would rather hope for the best, because dissent and pessimism solve nothing. I would rather believe that we can unite behind our leader and strive to make a difference, regardless of whatever disagreements we have. This is what I choose to believe. This is how I choose to respond. I believe I am not the only one. And to those who stand with me, we will have but one thing to say…
Yes we can.
Justice Roberts is the one who slipped up, not the President.
@HotMike - Amen to that!!
Sore losers.
@slowlydisappearingforever - That’s weak. Even if I did believe you that your point of the original comment was to talk about how this isn’t Obama’s ”change”, instead of you believing journalists on TV (mainly FOXNews, aka Hannity who still hasn’t corrected himself even though he’s been corrected) whom have biased views and false claims, that’s still a moot point. We’re talking about the inauguration. This is something that about 75% of Americans are happy about it. 2.4 million people were expected to show up to the inauguration, which is the MOST that have ever shown up at an inauguration. The previous record holder dates back to Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 with 1.2 million. George W. Bush’s inauguration cost more than Obama’s and the most George W. Bush had at his inauguration was 400,000 people. He had 300,000 the next. Having this many people requires a lot more money being spent by the government for necessities such as police, firemen, and EMT’s on site. They need places for the people attending to go to the bathroom. The majority of the 45 million spent by the federal gov’t on the actual inauguration was paid for through PRIVATE funds, not the governments money. Most of the rest was there for crowd control and safety.
When Obama was talking about change in Washington, I don’t believe he was talking about citizens donating THEIR money for the inauguration party. I think he might, just maybe, have been talking about the issues we’re facing today… Such as the government doing nothing because the two parties are constantly battling each other just for the sake of battling each other, the corruption that comes with politicians and lobbyists, and constantly taking leaps backwards with our foreign relations. Think about it. After 9/11 most of the world felt bad for us and had sympathy for us. In ONE year our actions turned most of the sympathy towards us to hate (no, I’m not completely blaming Bush, I’m blaming Washington for the choices THEY made with the information, or lack thereof, they had).
BRILLIANT!
I have to be honest there is one thing that Bush deserves some credit for. And its this: There has not been a second terrorist attack on American soil. That is about the only positive thing I got to say about him.
“After 911, we can discuss whether President Bush should have done more to protect us”
I have a big problem with that one. Bush already did far too much to “protect” us. He eliminated Habeas Corpus! Americans should do more to protect themselves. The government should barely have to step in.
Anyway…
hopefully some of that doesn’t happen and don’t be too loud the cult may hear you!
Besides that, what exactly is your point? Is it that, after all, the mans only human and should get the same scrutiny bush got if he were to eff up? Something i doubt will happen with his popularity being what it is and what with the cult being about.
by the cult i am referring to his hardxcore followers
@Tallman - the fact that there has been no second attack on American soil may have been a coincidence we can never know that and it’s absurd to think that bushs war on terror was the only factor affecting it
lol.
people don’t realize that Congress as a whole is mostly responsible for the economy/foreign policy. the president can’t just do whatever he wants. not yet, anyway.
<3
I think people have forgotten what respect is. I can’t laugh at this, because it’s so sad that we can do all those things and not feel ashamed of ourselves. Well said.
Sometimes I get the meanings of your posts but not the intents.
Everyone loves having a scapegoat.
You, sir, are correct.
lols
si se puede
niiiice
That was good!!! I am in such a good mood that I have lost my sense of humor lol. Not too witty tonight!
haha, clever!
*hugs*
Hah, well written.
Let’s hope we won’t have anything/too much to blame. ;P
- John
Yay! Now we can start campaigning for 2012!
Obama has already noted in his speaches that the national deficit isn’t as important as spending spending spending!
We call this change?
Actually Obama did slip up. He began to repeat
the oath before the line was complete. So while he is innocent of the
wording error, he was not without error. Why are so many people getting pissy about this. It was funny.
That’s how American works.
FUCK YOU!
All this talk of cans can’t be good for bottles.
@funeral_by_razor - hahah of course of course…oh my
@HotMike - Couldn’t have said it better myself!
and if chief justice roberts doesn’t know the constitution well enough to recite the oath of office correctly to mr. obama, can we kick his dumb ass out of office?
no, we can’t…
bummer, man
you could, but you’d lose popularity. or gain it like simon on american idol.
And lets not ever forget to mock him every time he stutters.
I sort of hope all that crap stops here. But the class shown by Obama’s worshipfull fans singing “Na na, na na na na, he he hey, goodbye”. Well it is never going to end until some people grow up
Yes. Yes we can.
Honestly, there aren’t many chances for people to laugh at him. He’s no Bush. We should embrace his slip-ups no matter how small.
YES WE CAN!
@Millsanicole - Agreed!
haha yessss. i cant wait for everyone to see him make huge mistakes.
This is hilarious.
You sound bitter.
This isn’t a sports rivalry.
I believe that Barack Obama truely wants what is best for AMERICANS, regardless of their political affiliation.
Does that mean you can call me a sheep?
Yes you can.
But does that post do anything to sooth the popular resentment of Bush 43?
Does it relive tension to lash out at Obama the way that so many lashed out at his predecessor?
Because if it isn’t giving you comfort, please stop.
More divisiveness and more hatred and more partisanship isn’t going to get us anywhere.
And if your only reaction is to retort: “why didn’t people say that when Bush was elected?” – I firmly urge you to ask yourself, what is it that you want? Vengeance or Progress?
Yes we can fixed it.
what’s your point?
Dan, yes, we can. And we probably will.
You’re a hater, Dan. Stop sipping the haterade. lol.
Peace.
We have to pick on the president now. It’s like the law or something.
So true! So very true!!
LOL Very well put.
And I can say that you’ve got blinders on.
@JohnnyCisthewaytobe - Well said.
Ha!
Yes we can and yes I will.
I somehow doubt he’ll be the butt of the jokes like President Bush was. You might be prejudiced if you make fun of him.
Even if he did slip up imagine all the pressure he was under while standing up there in front of over a million people. Give him a break. word to funeral_by_razor.
Hooray for blaming the President and his respective political party!!!!!
@HotMike - YESSSSSSSS. thank you
Uh, I don’t really understand what you were trying to say with this, but I’m not sure that I like it. We have reason to blame Bush because he was supposed to be the PRESIDENT, for goodness sakes, not some average joe trying to take on a job that was obviously too big for him to handle just so he could prove himself to daddy. Whatever he was doing may have worked in Texas, but it wasn’t good enough for the rest of us. He is solely responsible for screwing everything up. Obama, on the other hand, is an intelligent, charismatic man who clearly understands that action needs to be taken, and he actually shows a true love for this country. He is gonna be a great president, and all that stuff up there is silly.
amazing. and great point.
and let me just point out I love how people are getting all defensive, “what do you mean?! he’s going to do great! you sound bitter”
no, they sound defensive, because all their “wildest dreams came true” and the man actually has to live up to all of it.
I definitely don’t want to see Obama screw up, I mean he’s the president of my country, but I just think its so funny how everyone thinks its AOK to hammer the shit out of Bush and then cry whenever someone mentions Obama doing anything short of AMAZING..
he’s human, he’s not a superhero for christ sakes and he’s been in office for like what, a day now?
these rallying obama supporters really tick me off…
Yes, Yes we can! and Yes, Yes I will!
Obama didn’t fumble on the speech, actually (except jumping the gun at the first line). It was the Judge’s fault. He misplaced some lines and Obama caught him on it.
Yes we can, IF those things happen. And for the record, Obama DID NOT slip up in his oath, Roberts did.
frankly. i don’t give a shit if iraq spirals into chaos. just bring our boys back home. let iraqi’s protect iraq.
Oh but it was hilarious to see anyone slip up on something like that.
i love the fact how pretty much everything on here is about war and its effect on us instead of everything hes aiming for
He redid the oath last night because of the verbal mixups. So, blame for the first time, but he got it exact the second time.
I am so happy we have a new president and can’t wait to see what he does!
Haha yeah, it’s a tough job being the president. Although you’ve got to admit, Bush was much easier to make fun of/ blame, just because he sounded so ignorant when he spoke.
