Cursive Writing
I was just reading an article about how cursive is being used less in schools as the emphasis has shifted to science and reading. Here is the link: Link
I was thinking as I was reading the article that I really don’t write in cursive anymore. I have broken the habit. The only thing I write in cursive is my signature. When I was a kid, the sign that you were a big person was writing in cursive.
Do you tend to write in cursive or in print?

Most times, I write in print. unless im feeling fancy
lol
I type.
I write both…like a combo of cursive and printing…it’s weird….
print. I usually type. haha
I tend to print or use d’nealin….just force of habit.
I write notes to myself in cursive. For everything else, I print.
I don’t EVER use cursive. In fact, I honestly don’t remember every letter in cursive. Lol. Haven’t used it in sooooo long though!
I write in cursive, it’s faster.
My writing is this awkward blend of both.. I think it looks fun.
Print. I was taught in elementary school that high school will only except things in cursive but when i reached that level. they didnt care so i print.
Cursive. I’m old school. Actually, I’m just old.
A little of both…
But it’s true they don’t focus so much on it now, in school.
*HUGS*
Neither. Who the hell writes anymore? Typing, ftw!
My cursive is difficult to read. I usually print.
My normal handwriting is a mixture of both. Mostly print though.
I actually learned cursive and use it but I increasingly write in print, or in cursive broken up with print. Mostly I type though.
I always print. Funny, because I remember when we learned cursive, and in sixth grade our teacher was a cursive nazi, saying “this is all you’ll use in high school.” and by the time we got to seventh grade, no one cared.
I mixed them. I use cursive writing to speed up my writing speed when necessary, especially when dealing with “a”s and “e”s.
Hard to know about but good post anyway.
I print faster than I can write in cursive. I wrote in cursive from second grade until seventh, when I realized that I could write faster and more legibly by printing.
I use the weird combination of upper and lower case print letters I learned in architecture. Still.
No tthat you can read either very well but I tend to write in print because it is easier to read than my cursive handwritting. I am too shaky for it to be legible.
I use a keyboard. Writing really hurts my hands after a few minutes.
both
Print
oh my gosh- ever since 6th grade they havent had us use cursive whatsoever.
in elemantary school it was a very big deal, and they always had little training sheets with the letters and words.
i dont wirte that often, i usually type my ideas.
I use print. Everyone I know uses print, too.
Cursive is such a gigantic waste of class time and I’m irritated at how much time I was forced to spend learning it. I wasn’t coordinated enough to kick a damn soccer ball, but surely I could twirl a pen over paper to create a series of perfect swirls for my teacher to decode?
Yeesh.
both. when i am writing something important, usually cursive. when i am writing for/with my kids, print.
I write in cursive if it is personal (i.e. my journal). If it’s for someone else, I tend to print. I was taught in school that if you can’t type it, you print it neatly.
I write in print 99% of the time. After elementary school, I hardly ever used cursive, even though they told us we would “need” it. I don’t see much of a point to it.
I print because most of my teachers actually tell us to in the beginning of the year. Cursive is rarely used anymore.
Print.
Both.
Print – my cursive is some what legible.. however i prefer typing !
As a teacher it upsets me that our schools are no longer teaching cursive. I feel this is a mandatory part of any curriculumn. It teaches penmanship and forces children to concentrate on their writing. Myself, I accept no work that is in print, which basically forces my kids to learn cursive on their own. I also make my own children do their homework in cursive. I have to wonder…when it comes to contracts, will the big black X make a comeback?
I never once wrote in cursive unless I absolutely had to. I never really got the hang of cursive and my cursive was always significantly slower and messier than my printing and printing is bad enough.
I use some mix of the two. But I hated cursive in school. Reading is more important than being able to write in script anyway.
I always print unless I am signed something. It’s pretty much because we were only taught how to use cursive in elementary school, and we weren’t forced to write in it after fifth grade. In fact, most teachers prefer printing because they can’t read our cursive.
i write anything I can take time with in cursive. For in class notes, i’ve got a weird mix of greek/print/cursive that i write everything down in.
Both. Whatever comes natural.
I mostly write in cursive. Normally I start in print, move into a mixture between the two, and often end up in cursive. I hardly type anything (with the exception of papers and presentations) because I don’t remember things if I type them.
I don’t think the question was exactly worded right…according to the responses. Do you “know” how to cursively write? Just imagine, it used to be a sign of an excellent education…not only to write, but write beautifully. I wonder…will there ever come a time that anthropoligists need deciphering of the hand written language, as in hieroglyphics? Hmm, did the Egyptians ever think their language would one day need deciphering? I don’t think so.
Print, unless it for a job application form than I have to write if it requested on the form.
I use cursive to write letters, all my other writing is block print
Cursive, if only because its slightly more legible than my print.
Chicken scratch is my choice.
I always print. If I don’t no one would be able to read it, not even me!
when i wuzza kid i gottan award frum my skool for having the best cursive writing i thot then az i do now that cursive izza pain in the ass i wuz 11 when i startid printing xclusively & use cursive now only for my signature i love printing & utilize cambria style & lyke my typing only use lower case even when corresponding or writing paperz or poemz
I Have always written in print. My cursive is just horrible!!
I hated cursive.. its like.. when you grow up you write whatever way you want to anyway.
me and both my parents have this weird kind of mix.. its like cursive print… when I’m writing in all caps its print, but when I’m writing normally sometimes it can look like arabic.
I think cursive just screws everything up.. and it does not look pretty, only calligraphists can do that!
I write in prinsive.
Print, except for my signature. I always hated writing in cursive.
I use curvise because my print tends to look like a five year old wrote for me, but it’s weird because every time I try to write in print, I always switch back to cursive. I also tend to write faster in cursive than in print. It’s weird for me.
~Alexx
in mexico its not taught,,, thats fine with me,,, an easy code for me,,, unbreakable to them,,, hahahahaha
print…but i wish teachers would have never let kids get outta the habit of writing in cursive, especially because when i was a kid it was held in such high regard to be used as it was taught…i have some difficultly now when i try to write in cursive other than writing my signature…
Print.
The main time I even write is when I’m in a debate round and if my partner or myself couldn’t understand my handwriting that could be a big problem, since my cursive tends to be illegible.
Print.
usually print but sometimes i combine the two – mostly when i’m in a hurry.
Hi : )
As I grew up cursive handwriting was no longer an issue, as long as the teacher could read it.
I think its there in schools so children learn the correct shape of letterss before developing their own style?
Have a great day!
xoxox
Print or type.
I do a mixture of both, honestly. Like my J’s look like print J’s, whether I’m signing or not, but my e’s always look like cursive. So it just comes out how it comes out.
I am SHOCKED to find out that my younger cousin (who is in 4th grade) has STILL not learned cursive yet. I learned in the 2nd grade, and was forced to do ALL my homework in cursive until at least the 7th grade.
My friend says she can understand why they teach more on computers and cursive isn’t important unless you’re signing your name. I still think it should be taught and stressed when they’re young, so they can develop their handwriting a bit better. And you’re right, writing in cursive DOES mean you’re a big person.
Most of the time I write in print, but if I’m writing quickly, I’ll use cursive. And sometimes I just come out with this weird mix of the two. Haha.
I remember that it was such a big deal when I finally learned to write in cursive though. I was so proud of myself because I felt so grown up!
A combination of both. But I do more typing these days.
I tend to use print, unless I’m in a hurry. My cursive much quicker, but a lot more sloppy.
Most of the time I print, but if I’m very bored in class, I practice my cursive. I think the cursive looks neater.
It’s funny they would say that they moved the emphasis from science and reading. My local public school admitted that the emphasis moved from cursive writing to keyboarding. And that is logical.
I homeschool now and I still teach both. My boys hate cursive writing and promptly forget it. The girls love the beautiful “grown-up” way of writing. It is a stutus symbol for them to write in cursive.
I write in cursive when I put pen to paper. It is faster than print. I print only for the kids when I want it to be more readable. Or for the little ones to copy. The computer has really changed the world.
Cursive 99% of the time. I couldn’t believe it when some of my friends in high school didn’t know how to handwrite. We learned in grade 3. Had handwriting class everyday.
print, cuz I want to read it
Cursive is what I learned, and that is how I write.
I can’t write in cursive. In fact, I have trouble reading other peoples cursive writing.
Print.
print
I can’t even remember the last time I wrote I cursive….except when I sign.
hybrid –my l’s are in cursive, and most of my letters connect, but my s’s and r’s are always in print.
oh I learned cursive in kindergarden. I remember too. Just like we’d learn a letter a day or something and have to practice writing it in both ways. Like I have papers where I’d write my name and some letters of my name would be in cursive and some in print cause we didn’t know how to write them all in cursive yet lol
Cursive, I wrote in cursive from 4-8th grade (so I’m used to it) and in comparison to print (for me) it’s faster and more legible.
both and they are always messy.
They say someones Joh Hancock tells all about a person, neat or messy.
I mix it up.
I love to write cursive and I use it all the time.
Print.
Print always
I forgot how to write in cursive the second I left grade school.
@GrapiesWordsofWisdom - I think about everyone know how to do it.
Print and typing are my main ways to communicate. My handwriting is terrible.
I write in cursive, mostly. It’s faster.
i print…and yeah my signature is the only thing i cursive write in. i remember as well when i was younger that all teachers would let us know that we had to learn how to do it because it was going to be something were going to use a lot in the future to write paper’s and letter’s, etc…but computers and lappies really kicked in. and nobody call anymore everything it through txting… yikes were getting lazy =(
I find print is faster for me, and more legible. if I have time or am “free-writing”, then cursive.
I never seem to realize it until later, but I kind of do things half and half. If I write in print, I always have a few words in the jumble that stray from the group and get curvey, or when in cursive writing, at least a few letters that I find easier to write in print like S, and Z
I noticed the other day my daughter doesnt use cursive at all.. she said they never really use it in school. I use both.
script, like italics – also type
I still prefer cursive. Big loopy cursive.
Cursive, always. Writing in print takes so much bloody effort, imo.
Print.
God, I haven’t written in cursive in AGES.
I noticed that our teachers put less and less emphasis on it throughout the years, and now we don’t even have to ask “print or cursive?” anymore. I guess it stopped around 5th or 6th grade, I think. I’m a sophomore now, so.
combo of both. i can’t remember how to write all the cursive letters.
Wow I had almost forgotten about cursive writting! I, as well, only use cursive for my signature. I learned it in 3rd grade, I should get back in the habit. ANOTHER New Yea’rs Resolution haha.
Some type of combination. I don’t like my handwriting, but I dislike my cursive even more.
Print, cursive, or type? All of the above!
Print, but sometimes, when i’m writing quick it turns into a mixture. And of course, I type a lot more than I write as well.
I drift in and out of writing in cursive. To be specific, I do this so much that half of a word can be in print and the other half in cursive. It used to drive my students CRAZY when I would write on the board because they had to adjust not only to reading cursive but reading half-cursive.
I always found it funny.
I write in cursive…unless I have to print, it’s faster
Mine has become a mixture of both!
LOL
Mostly cursive. I only jot things down in print if I’m in a big hurry. <33
My writing is a combination of the two. The only time I use full cursive is for my signature.
when I get lazy, I write in cursive. otherwise, print all the way
Print. When I’m being fancy I’ll mix cursive with print, to make my writing look nicer — it normally is lucky to be legible, xD
I write ALOT, though. Online and off, so it’s not that I don’t know how…it’s just that people somehow don’t recognize alo of the words I use lol.
Mostly, I use cursive when it’s required for school, or in signatures.
Print
print.
I use both. A lot of the time it’s a combination of cursive and print, though.
No I don’t, but my mother and my aunts all have beautiful cursive writing. Back in their day I guess it was really important.
Print, FTW. My cursive is BAD
Cursive. I don’t feel like I’m expressing my true self if I don’t. But then again, I am a proponent of private and home school and haven’t ever like what’s being taught in public school.
im somewhat unusual as a college student in that i still use cursive a lot. it’s pretty sloppy looking but it’s faster than print. My day-to-day writing is sort of between cursive and printing, aka it looks really bad because they’re sort of printed letters but they’re all connected…
i feel like print is easier for me to read though (as far as notes for class go) so if I’m notetaking I don’t use cursive, I use the half-and-half
i write in very sloppy, rather large cursive. not to seem “grown” but because it’s faster if you don’t have to keep taking your hand off of the page after every letter.
print everything except my signature, and I print in all CAPS
Print. No one can read my cursive.
i print.
I used to always write in cursive but 1. Everyone else wrote in print and 2. My print is more legible. So I switched over.
But they don’t even teach cursive in our schools anymore! :O It’s stupid.
Actually, I lied. I write in connected print; this actually is hard to read too.
My handwriting is a weird blend of cursive and manuscript. Some of my letters are cursive, and some are print.
Print. My signature is even in sloppy print. My daughter is in third grade and no one has taught her cursive. IN FACT her printing isn’t that good. No one grades on penmanship anymore. The kid can type but not use a pencil. Sad, sad, sad.
I love writing in cursive!!! Its faster eaiser and more pretty!
Both. Depends how tired my hand is….and I can’t print in all CAPS. -__-
I never like writing in cursive. It takes to long for me so, most of the time I print.
I write in print, although sometimes when I’m writing quickly the letters end up getting connected (but they aren’t “cursive”). Mostly I print because my cursive handwriting looks like a fourth-grader’s.
in print. whats the point of writing when people cant read what you write? cursive tends to do just that.
I tend to write in a combination of both
I’ve never liked cursive so the only time I do it is when I’m signing something. I print if I’m not typing. For some reason I tend to be a bit shaky when I’m writing in cursive but at least I don’t do the letter f backwards anymore since I did that for some reason.
Cursive. It’s so much faster, even though most of my friends have forgotten how to read and write it. However, a handful of them have picked up a kind of hybrid style after knowing me for a while.
I use a combination of both.
I write everything in cursive, with the exception of book orders at work, which must be printed.
I find it easier.
I love cursive. It’s quicker, generally.
print, but i should start writing in cursive again.
Always print. I can’t write cursive save for my name.
a mix of both. if I decidedly choose to write in one over the other, by the time I’ve finished the sentence/paragraph/whatever, I’ve unconsciously switched into the other. *sigh*
both. at the same time.
My mom teaches kindergarten, and the method that she uses ito educate her students is called danelian.
cursive is pointless. good riddance.
i print mostly, but when i get sloppy/lazy i start writing in cursive cus its all connected.
Lmao. I cannot write in cursive anymore. Years of being in cad drafting and engineering has lead me to lettering and my signature has gone down hill because of it. My name in cursive is atrocious.
I write in print I was never good at cursiveXD
I’m old enough that cursive was drummed into me in school. So if I’m not typing, I’m writing in cursive.
ah, i remember the days when my 5th grade teacher made the class write everything in cursive. it was painful! i hated it and still hates it.
print >>>> cursive
it takes less time to write
Ugh, in second and third grade they DEMANDED that we write cursive.
Fourth and fifth grade, and middle school DEMANDED that we write PRINT.
…
Then, I moved to a different state that did not care…but I’m stuck in this print-writing mode, even though I think cursive is faster for me now since my writing style has changed.
…But I’m also left-handed, so all writing is pretty slow for me…damn it all.
It’s a hybrid.
In elementry school we always had to, so when I got to Jr. High and realized we didn’t have to write in cursive anymore I just stopped. I have printed ever since and barely remember how to write in cursive now. Haha, I really should practice…
Cursiiiiiive. <3
I always write in cursive, I think it shows a kind of personal respect, and dignity. Mine is a hybird though, some of the letters transfer over. I don’t know, I guess that I’m to proud to lower myself to everyone elses writing style. I enjoy the fact that I can write in a way that many people my age have forgotten. It’s like learning Latin, you do it to keep history alive.
I almost always print unless I have to sign my signature. But mostly I type.
All the letters in my handwriting merge with each other into a gigantic illegible scribble. I’m glad they’re lifting it from elementary schools, that shit was a massive waste of time. I remember I had learned to write it from a book a year or so before learning it in school, and it was styled slightly differently, so I’d always get lowered grades for doing it “wrong.” The lesson of all this: Who cares about handwriting?
I use cursive most of the time, unless it’s something that needs to be super neat, or that I’m writing a note to one of my friends who can’t read cursive (what is that???).
It’s just takes so much less time to write in cursive.
my 7th grade history teacher did not accept anything unless it was in cursive
cursive!!!!! but for important documents i print in ALL CAPS -_- just to make sure theres no miscommunication lol
I agree, I only write in cursive if it’s a signature for something; otherwise, it’s print for everything else.
Cursive. It’s just faster– and easier.
As a high school chemistry teacher, I think I’m at a bias when I say I would push science more than cursive. I stopped writing in cursive when I was in the 3rd grade and switched to all caps. I found that it takes up less space, looks neater, and it’s harder to make mistakes that way, esp in chem class.
Like you, the only thing I write in cursive is my signature.
Print….cursive is dumb.
I write in cursive when I’m in a hurry and my print is looking rather illegible anyway.
The last thing I wrote in cursive was probably that damn paragraph you have to write on the SAT booklet. I forget if there’s one for the GRE
Print except signature
Print.
Man, writing in cursive really sucked, cuz my teacher was so picky & it made my hand hurt after awhile. I hardly see anything “written” in cursive anymore, let alone hand-written! Everything’s usually typed out these days. Half the time “signatures” in cursive look like chicken scratch!
It was a big deal when i was in grade school to learn cursive and write in cursive regularly. But now ive noticed the change and i only write my signature in cursive too.
Mine is a mixture of both.
Print. I hate cursive.
I type. Or I handwrite in print. Cursive, only my signature and then it looks like scribble, not even like real cursive. You probably could only make out the first letter of my first and last night and the rest looks like scribble.
Always cursive.
It’s weird to print, too slow.I can get my notes done in half the time as the other students.
My writing is a mixture of both, but I’d say it’s closer to print… I guess….
I’ve never been great at cursive. now the only thing I ever write in it is my signature, everything else comes out looking like garbage.
I used to write everything in cursive. Now I write my “a”s the way they look typed, so it’s actually very diffucult to write in cursive.
Mines a mixture of print and cursive.
I love writing in cursive. Although, my normal handwriting is a mix of both, more on the cursive side, I’d guess…
My writing is a combination of both- i guess i’m now the road to growing up but not there yet LOL
I studied Cursive, Italics, Cursive Italics, and then Calligraphy. I almost always write in cursive. I have some pretty damn good hand writing if I do say so myself.
My cursive is horrible. I used to think I was so cool because I learned it before anyone else.
I print, but that also looks horrible.
Print. I use cursive for my signature.. although it’s not really cursive as it’s more like scribbles.
Print. I hate how they threaten kids in elementary school with, “you’re going to use it later on!” when I never used it past 5th grade. What a waste of time.
When I’m not typing, I write in cursive.
Print. Though some of my letters look like cursive. letters (l, y, etc.)
Yeah, I’m in Nursing school so it is sort of a mixture of print and cursive. I try to print to make it “legible” but for the sake of speed, I end up writing in both.
a strange blend of both, my handwriting is practically illegible
Print… I can’t even remember how to write some of the ABC’s in cursive.
I write in print. I forgot how to write some letters in cursive, so my cursive ends up choppy and bizarre
Print, but I connect random letters when it’s easier to do so.
Cursive, because usually the only thing I write is my name when I have to sign something… otherwise, I type on the computer.
But in school I usually did a mix of both.
@sillyrae - same here, lol.
I don’t know, I think when I write down notes really fast it’s more cursive, but it’s not neat. That’s too bad this is happening. I worked hard on learning cursive! I remember when it was a HUGE deal…”ooooh 3rd grade! We get to learn cursive!” These kids need to learn it too!
I HATED cursive writing! 2nd grade I was FORCED to write EVERYTHING in cursive, the same with 6th grade English!
Cursive took too much time and was just stupid, there was no point to it at all, as it did not speed up my writing in any way. I prefer typing, but if I’m writing on paper, I string my letters together in print, that’s my improv. >:|
some strange combination of the two… every person develops his or her own writing style… it’s natural
I write much better in cursive so I tend to do that unless I’m rushing.
Usually cursive or small capital print letters.
Print always print. I learned cursive, but I didn’t use it except when it was required.
I am a bad human being.
@NikBv - Faggot.
@LucyWrites - Do you have journals? What does the paper feel like?
@RaVnR - Dork.
I definitely write in print because for some reason it takes me longer to write in cursive.
Print. My cursive is horrible. ):
The only time I use cursive is when I’m signing my signature or some artwork.
i use both. when i make notes for my courses, cursive means there’s a definition or sub-grouping. i use printing for the other facts.
i went to catholic school for a while so i wrote in cursive all the time and then switched to public and was soooo confused why i was allowed to write in print hahaha
i miss writing in script it makes me feel fancy
i print mostly. when i do write in cursive, it is a blend of both. i dislike cursive.
i write in an odd combo of printsive. ..whatever is fastest. when i started writing/reading progress notes in patients’ charts in the hospital, it was apparent to me that most people working there use some sort of combination, leaning more towards cursive and illegibility.
I bastardized my cursive a long time ago into a sort of half-print, half-cursive scrawl.
I write in cursive. It’s faster when taking notes in lecture, unless you type, but some professors don’t allow laptops or the class is too small. In general, it just looks nicer too.
normally in print…
cursive only when it’s emotional
Not only to I write in cursive – my oldest children do as well – the youngest (age 4) is learning – I teach it daily for my second graders.
cursive, my mother wouldn’t have had it any other way.
I don’t write in cursive, never really liked doing it.
for some reason, writing in print seems REALLY awkward to me now
cursive… i can’t write in print….it come out really bad/
@sillyrae - Same here
I sort of write in a combination of cursive and print…
I usually print. My cursive just isn’t very nice. I blame my lefty-ness. I remember being forced to use cursive in grade school, but in high school none of the teachers cared (and most assignments were typed up anyway…computers are another factor in the lack of cursive writing, i think).
I write in cursive. I’m proud of it too, because I think it is true that most people print. Which is a shame, because cursive is much faster, and much prettier.
a mix of both
I sign my name on official documents, print everything I write, and when I sign my artwork I print my name, just in a nicer way.
I’m probably 50% print/50% curssive. Though, both techniques could have used some more refining. I am a pretty sloppy writer.
sometimes i do it for fun, but i`m terrrible at it .
so i stick to print ,.
Except for my signature, I always print. It just takes too long to write pretty.
cursive
a combination, my handwriting just looks like disconnected scribbles
Cursive!
For EVERYTHING!
I hate printing.
I print. I can write faster and more legibly in print than I can in cursive.
I do, however, write my lower case “L” in cursive, and I cross my “z.” Habits I picked up from engineering courses to keep them separate from my “1″ and “2″ respectively.
I print I hate writing in cursive unless im sloppy
Yeah most the of the time I use cursive is when im sloppy with my lecture notes / signing stuff
I’m with the person who said combo, i go back and forth… sometimes i use both in a single word…
my printing has cursive influences in it…so, both?
@sillyrae - I do the same thing.
Print
I write in print. It’s much faster and easier to read.
I just realized that i only write my signature in cursive and everything else in print. That’s really sad to find out what society has come to.
I can write in cursive but don’t bother because it’s generally harder to read.
I agree with the article. People are not getting any smarter so it’s better to ensure that the kids “read good” first lol.
I print small like for notes. I write in cursive for beauty or special occasions.
I write in cursive for the most part but I have a habit of switching back and forth between cursive and print.
I print a majority of the time. Unless I’m lazy.. in which case it will shift to cursive. And when my cursive gets too messy for my liking then it’s a combination of both. I altered some of the cursive letters to my liking so it looks nicer to me. =]
I most often print, but will sometimes write in cursive just for variety…
I remember learning to write cursive in 5th and 6th grade with a fountain pen.
My cursive writing isn’t that good so I prefer writing in print.
And I’ve also discovered that markers (the people who mark papers) prefer print writing over cursive because it’s a lot easier to read.
Doesn’t matter, you couldn’t read my handwriting either way. I’m all about the typing, I hate writing.
I write in cursive when I’m not typing. I’m the one who when at the bank, it’s taking me a long time to sign my stuff because, yeah, cursive takes a long time. lol
print for me
Print. But my handwriting is actually a hybrid of both.
Print. I can’t read my own cursive writing!
If I have time and am taking it slow or trying to be neat, I go straight out print.
If I’m in a hurry, during class or something, it’s this combination.
All my notes look different… I’ve got like 7 different sorts of handwriting.
Please visit http://www.floralhandmadeflowers.com to shop for unique handmade flowers.
Please visit http://www.floralhandmadeflowers.com to shop for unique handmade flowers.
Print, although cursive genes are present in my handwriting.
i use both. if you look through my notes for one class, there are sections where it’s all print, sections where it’s all cursive, and sections where it’s a mix. but it’s all very illegible to most people (including me sometimes..)
I tend to write in print for neatness in designs.
In fact, most of of the time I write in all upper cases.
I write in print unless it’s my name. But mostly i type.
Cursive, I had to re-learn it in highschool because my print was almost illegible. Unfortunately no one could read that either for the first two years I used it, because I always forgot to cross my t’s and dot my i’s. “Thats very pretty Allison, but what does it say?”
Usually cursive.
cursive… everything is connected so its fast
cursive or scientific all-caps.
I hate my cursive, I think it’s messy.
I print as often as I can. ^_^
I know I’ve always wanted to learn calligraphy. I just think it would be awesome.
My handwriting is a combination of both. I think my writing is best when I use cursive.
cursive
Cursive at all times unless it’s absolutely imperative that it must be read, then I have to do some weird blocky style print. My hand writing when I entered high school was printish that gradually got more cursive as time went on, and now I write only in cursive. It’s just how I roll.
i almost always write in neat cursive.
as proof that schools don’t spend much time on cursive anymore, my intelligent 15-year-old sister cannot read my, or anyone else’s, cursive handwriting.
When I write letters or notes, it’s usually in cursive.
If I’m taking notes in a lecture, it’s print.
I’m picky about my handwriting though.
most of the time, my notes, my lists, whetever.. I write them in a sort of hybrid print. My pen barely ever leaves the paper, but the letters resemble print only more flowy… make sense? it’s pretty!
cursive should stay.
Print, always.
Cursive looks better (when I’m not the one writing it, of course) but it’s usually more difficult to read.
I not only write in cursive, I teach my children to do so before printing!
~whatever!
The only one who writes in cursive in my family is my mother now.
As she writes cooking recipee that she wants no one to know about
i do a wierd combination of the two…i’ll connect a lot of printed words, but i’ll throw in some random cursive.
i hardly ever write in entire cursive just because i can’t make some of the letters and end up printing half of it anyways.
I’ve also noticed script being used…. rarely. I use print!
I remember when taking the SAT, we had to copy the words of a legal agreement in our own cursive. But no one knew how, so the test administrator had to write it out in simple cursive on a blackboard for the students to copy. I thought that was pretty pathetic.
i have amix when i’m taking fast notes.
Both, I tend to combined them somehow. But I know what you mean about the cursive thing. Schools around here have stopped teaching it. I find it sad because these kids need to know how to write in cursive as well as print. I told my fiance when our child is old enough I’m gonna make sure s/he knows how to write in cursive
I write in cursive when I need to write really fast. I write in print because it’s more legible to other people, but I personally think my cursive’s easier to read.
Cursive is a total crock. I wasted so much time learning it as a kid and I only use it for my signature. I’m glad they are putting more emphasis on reading instead of a pointless alternative to standard print.
I letter.
It depends…personal letters? Cursive. Business-ish stuff? Print. Block letters, even.
I usually write print but I have noticed that [and maybe its just where I live] but they really don’t teach cursive in school anymore. I had to teach my brother [who is 14 months younger than me] to sign his name. And that’s all he knows in cursive. And I don’t think my 14 year old brother or 9 year old sister knows how to write in cursive. And I’m pretty sure I learned in third or fourth grade.
Print! My cursive looks veryyy elementary. So, I just print. I mostly type anyways, so it doesn’t really matter.
It was actually focused on quite a bit when I was in grade 2-3, but they seemed to stop caring when I hit 4th. In fact, I haven’t been asked to write in cursive since. I never learned how to write a few letters in cursive, actually!
Print
Cursive if I’m being lazy :p
Rarely in cursive. Typically print (with a splash of FANCY) .
I prefer to print, but some classes at our school make you write in cursive >.<
I ALWAYS WRITE IN CURSIVE. Ever since I learned how, I’ve been writing in cursive. My cursive handwriting is my trademark. I really enjoy writing in cursive. Usually in math I don’t write in cursive. I don’t think I’ve met anybody who’s older than 13 who writes in cursive. Is it weird that I’m a sophmore in high school & write in cursive. I feel like its not. Haha. Oh well, its good to be different.
I tend to write in cursive in my journal. If I have to write something someone else has to read I will print. I have sloppy hand writing. People tell me I write like a guy all the time.
I write in print…
For most things I print, but I write in my journal using cursive. I actually like both kinds of writing, but because cursive is slower for me, I only use it when I’m being introspective.
a messy hybrid actually, leaning more toward printing.
And most of the time I type actually.
i write
I always print, and my signature isn’t so much cursive as it is just scribbling. My mom has really nice cursive and I’ve always wished I could write as neat as her, but I just can’t seem to do it!
