  • PETA, Sex and Vegetables

I have decided to join PETA and become a vegetarian.

It was not my love for animals because it is going to be hard to give up the seal clubbing.  No.  It was the sexy PETA commercials involving sex with vegetables.  It was also the celebrities getting naked.

PETA had their ad banned from the Super Bowl because it showed women in suggestive acts with vegetables.  Here is the link:  Link

I posted a few of the suggestive images on here.  I am not sure what the big deal is because the Super Bowl sponsors the Lingerie Bowl.

Do you think these images are too racy for the Super Bowl?

  • Yes. And I heard the Lingerie Bowl may not happen this year.

  • I don’t think they’re too racy,

but i’m not sure that everyone will eat their vegetables THAT way if they become a vegetarian…

    haha

  • Yes, because children watch it too.

  • Funny, I keep hearing about how bad the ad market is and now they are turning down a sale.

  • There’s no such thing as the Lingerie Bowl anymore…

  • those are some weird poses thats for sure..

  • The PETA bitches have gone crazy….er.

  • @nattata - They’re probably eating wings while watching it. XD

  • Ah, whatever. I think that’s kind of gross, actually.

  • Never occurred to me, all the fun to be had with the crop of  veggies in the garden.

  • No but I don’t think that it would convince any football watching men.

  • The last one, yes.

The other two? No. That’s just eating vegetables! What’s wrong with that?

  • Maybe the middle one….but I’ve seen worse Superbowl commercials.  Remember the one with the Snickers bar and the two men.  They played it during the game then banned it later.

  • That’s just weird. I’m a vegetarian and it feels suddenly like asparagus just became less edible… as food…

  • Thing is, will it convince anyone, seriously, to be a vegetarian?  No.. It seems like they like to make controversy more than real education or new members.
That and if I went by their depictions of vegetarians, they’d all be a bunch of sluts.  But I guess without meat, they need something to get their aggressions out and the adrenalin going.  :)

  • That’s PETA for ya. xD

  • Oh wow, the commercial after the sexy one is quite shocking… I’d understand if that was banned from family tv.

  • PETA is slightly crazy, but I don’t think that the Super Bowl or any TV station has the right to censor commercials as long as the ad slot is paid for.  And for all the other comments that are bawwwing about children watching, maybe you should take the time to explain to your kids about the commercial, or just not let them watch, either way works.  Not like the NFL is a kid-friendly sports league anyway.

  • they just got a little too desperate.

  • I think it’s too racy, especially when I know children will be watching.  PETA needs to come up with other ways to promote vegetarian lifestyles than using sex/provocative images.

I would think that using provocative images to promote their cause would cause ME to lose respect for them.  This is not a “do everything you can to get people to stop eating meat” ad, it’s a “use sexy women doing racy things with vegetables to make them look more appealing than meat.”   WRONG IDEA.

  • I don’t think it is. It’s only a step or two up from the typical Victoria Secrets commercial.

It is all together sad that the only effective packaging by PETA and animal rights activists is sex. I like images of scantily clad women, but all of that is fucking squashed the the transparent propagandism.

  • The Superbowl has been a bit uptight ever since 2004. I’m not surprised they banned it.

These ads do nothing for me. Looking at a bunch of hoes sucking down vegetables doesn’t make me want to go vegetarian. I’d rather eat hot wings.

  • After Janet Jackson, no.

  • Haha!  Oh wow.

The commercial is sort of strange, but it’s not that different from a VS commercial.

Well, VS doesn’t show a woman tonguing up a pumpkin…Hm.

  • No, I don’t think it’s too risque. There’s a lot worse on tv.

  • WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PICTURES THAN THE CHEERLEADERS DANCING AROUND

  • They are racy ads but as all advertisers know…sexiness sells. They’re just going with what works…if they should be banned then so should all those oversexed perfume or victoria secrets ads too.

  • Nah.

Its all over the place nowadays. No biggy.

  • For starters, i doubt a commercial would make anyone become a vegetarian. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. I saw an argument that children will be watching the super bowl. Victoria Secret commercials haven’t been banned because children watch TV.

  • did anyone follow the link to the commercial? That was a bit much…

  • Perhaps it’s not the “raciness” of the ads but the irrelevance.  This is probably too much of a hasty generalization, but it doesn’t seem realistic that hardcore football fans who also enjoy a good steak and a beer, are suddenly going to convert to herbivorism through a PETA ad during the Superbowl.

  • I think the ad itself is too racy for prime time.

    petakillsanimals.com

  • Commercials are pretty darn inappropriate nowadays anyway.

But….I’ve been a vegetarian since 5th grade and I can’t say I’ve ever felt too sexy eating(or…rubbing myself with)  asparagus….

  • No, they have had worse than this in previous years… Why stop now? Because someone became up in arms about all of it. Two words – Grow up.

  • hmm, well i’ve definitely seen more skin during the super bowl thanks to justin timberlake–i mean a wardrobe malfunction. the commercial isn’t that bad.

  • that’s out to lunch. these people are SO lame.
calling black, white and trying to pass it off!…. whaatt??
    dumbasses

  • it’s like… just call it what it is!

  • I wouldn’t want to give any 13 year olds any ideas.
And little 7 year olds shouldn’t be watching that either.
They’ll learn over time… but damn.

    lmfao.
it’s just funny as hell, though.
    but only because we understand.
if a little kid saw this they wouldn’t understand propoganda, marketing, or even ‘veggies = better sex’

    they’d just see halfnaked women
    with veggies.
    like ok.

  • No.. but I think they should have used a cucumber or something bigger then that little asparagas..sheesh.

  • I guess that was going to be PETA’s way of reaching the football-watching men!  LOL

    Kathi

  • @MomGoneMadd - Ahaha, no kidding!

  • wow I have never tried asparagus that way!! lol im a boring ol cucumber gal!

  • Ew…I’m glad that one is banned…that’s just a little overboard

  • No.  I don’t think that they’re too racy.  Even if children are watching, they aren’t anywhere near x rated, so no biggy.  =D

  • They have Paris Hilton in a bikini on top of a car washing it while eating a huge burger. That wasn’t banned. Why should suggestive vegetarian ads? But the whole idea is stupid. Wanna get horny? Eat some veggies. lol.

  • Yeah.

  • That commercial is ridiculous, as is PETA’s moral compass.

  • yes, I don’t want my children to watch that. I don’t even want to see that.

  • That was the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. “Hey, vegetarians have better sex!, So, uh, that’s why you should be one! Sex!”

Then, when it’s turned down, they complain about how they’ll show a commercial for fast food that, “makes America fat.” I eat fast food more than once a week, and I’m on the edge of being underweight. I get far less exercise than I should in addition. Fuck you PETA.

  • No, it’s on par with other commercials I’ve seen during the Super Bowl

What annoys me is they insist on using sex in all their ads. PETA really thinks the population is that simple minded that just seeing hot women rubbing themselves with asparagus and claiming to have better sex lives will help them reach sudden enlightment to drop the wings and ribs.

Obviously they have forgotten how delicious chicken wings and bbq ribs are

  • There’s plenty of stuff in the Superbowl ads that crosses the line of good taste.

  • Ah, yeah…  Rub that asparagus all over your body…  Yeah…  Where the fuck is mah lube?  >:|

  • Yes.

The underlying news is that PETA is desperate for membership.

  • That’s amusing.  Yet there’s been worse commercials out there.  I think people are freaking out too much after Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction.”

Besides, PETA should put its commercials on the Puppy Bowl. That’s what I’m going to watch!

  • i thknk they’re too racy for the superbowl, considering its a midday family kind of thing….

to me its just dumb though.

  • haha i love PETA’s advertising because it totally works.   They don’t have to pay to have the ad play at the superbowl and yet they still get a huge amount of exposure for their cause.
I don’t think sexual commercials/ads/whatever should be a part of a family sporting event at all but I agree that it is unfair to have a “lingerie bowl” but not show some sexy vegetables.   I think what it really comes down to is that they don’t want to offend the meat-eating viewers; which is their choice, but they should be honest about their reasoning instead of looking like hypocrites.

  • Absolutely to racy. And I’m sick to death of seeing this kind of garbage on television. it’s not much better than pornography IMO. Disgusting. it has no bearing whatsoever on football.

And the Lingerie Bowl IS banned this year because the nudist colony hosting it could not guarentee that people in the colony wouldn’t show up nude.

    What is UP with America?

  • I don’t think that would be effective AT ALL. I mean, I’m sure the guys watching football would love it… but they’ve also probably got a huge plate of hot wings in front of them. Haha.

  • HA! I love it. I wouldn’t have banned it, if it were up to me!

  • That commercial is racy.  I personally think it’s too explicit for the Super Bowl, and I’m pretty progressive. Children watch the Super Bowl, and this commercial is even more suggestive than Victoria Secret commercials, what with its crawling and licking and rubbing and hot tubs.  Also I don’t understand how PETA thinks it’s okay to exploit women just to deliver a message; regardless of whatever good intentions they have, presenting these women as sex objects is not okay.

@la_faerie_joyeuse - Watch the whole commercial.

  • @xxmissbettyxx - Would you want your kids (/nieces/nephews) to watch it?

  • This is the link for the actual video: http://www.peta.org/content/standalone/VeggieLove/

It’s totally not “explicit” at all. It’s actually rather funny.

  • @xthread - If you’ve seen the other commercials they put on there….

  • @steph843 - It’s not going to make any one think of going vegetarian, it’s going to make people think of getting some.  The hot bodies are far too distracting from the vegetables, IMO.  (This is a roundabout way of saying that I agree with you.)

  • I wouldn’t normally think so, but I do have a child on the way and that is normal public broadcast.  Put that on cable where the real meat eaters are viewing anyway : )

  • @ecoutezmonhistoire - I’m not talking about the other commercials, I’m talking about this one.  We should be decreasing the amount of commercials that exploit women and promote gender stereotyping, not increasing them.  And certainly not using them to promote a “good cause”.  Advertising beer is one thing; promoting vegetarianism is another.  (And I don’t think women dressed in clad lingerie should be used to promote beer sales, either.)

In other news, no, I don’t watch the Super Bowl, and no I am not familiar with the “other” commercials.  My position is still valid, however.

  • Wow, PETA being banned, that’s a new one.

    Those are some sexy veggies.

  • @xthread - Good point. Well-argued. :)

  • Yes I do.  PETA are retarded…haha

  • What a stupid ad.

    Anything to get attention.

  • that’s not racy.  the janet jackson wardrobe malfunction was racy LOL

  • Who cares? As mentioned before, they do have the Lingerie Bowl and there are other suggestive commercials. I don’t get the purpose anyway. Only a moron would be swayed to change their lifestyle because of a commercial featuring a bunch of women who are, lets face it, way out of the league of most of the Superbowls audience.

I think this thing may have a lot to do with PETA being a bunch of self-righteous, crazy assholes.

  • Those photos are disgusting.

  • why- just why would they make it and then of course the answer is right here… lotsa talk.

  • ha, no, and I love the gold eyeshadow on the first chick.

  • haha, why didn’t PETA just show men and women drinking milk from the breasts of lactating mothers? I mean, they thought Ben&Jerry’s should use human breast milk to make their ice cream, after all.

    bottom line is:

PETA would do anything for attention, and they’re bunch of hypocrites anyway. they don’t really care about animals. they’ve killed over 85% of the dogs, cats, etc that have been brought into their shelter in the past 10 years–for no reason. besides, the majority of celebrities who pose nude for PETA tend to wear leather or use it for their purses…wow, so cows aren’t animals? bunch of idiots, PETA is.

meat is tasty and nutritious. calfskin makes wonderful shoes. and dogs and cats make the best friends.

  • They promote sex with vegetation, which is impure and unnatural. If you want to have sex with vegetables, do it in the privacy of your own home. My five-year-old does not need to learn about this while I’m busy hooting at the grunting quarterbacks and gaping at the sexy, sexy beer commercials.

  • I suddenly find myself not hungry.

Using naked women, they could make every man in the world go vegatarian.

  • We had to see Janet’s nipple.

I think we can handle some half naked women with vegetables.

  • there have been way more racier commercials.

  • They are actually kind of funny!

  • asparagus never looked so sexy.

  • No.

And I also think that people should stop making such a big deal out of sexually explicit content. I mean… who cares if these women are practically having sex with vegetables? It’s not as if it changes anything in our lives.

  • I personally found it to be amusing (and hot); but I guess if there are children watching it, I could understand the controversey. Not everyone is as sexually open as certain peoples, like myself. hah.

  • @gratefulxgrapefruit - HAHA. That was a horrible, horrible experience…. *shudders*

  • So they can show the whole GoDaddy crap but not this? Unbelievable. I think they should show it. I can’t say I agree with PETA 100%, but their add deserves to show.

  • Considering the fact that VS sells a product which is most often meant to be worn by women, I can understand having women wearing said product on their commercials. How else could you make an undies commercial?  It’s not like the women are actually having sex with the underwear like the PETA ladies are nearly doing with the vegetables.

PETA are just People Expecting Tons of Attention.  We’re probably going to have an ol’ fashioned barbeque for the big game.  30 seconds of veggie porn isn’t going to make me change my lifestyle. But there is a time and a place for everything and I don’t think a football game is appropriate (or relevant).

BTW This puts “VeggieTales” in a whole new light.

  • @TheGiantSlayer - Yeah, it was hard to watch.

  • OMG, i never thought I would see another person deep throating an entire asparagus. I went on a terrible date once where the guy did the same thing!!!
    I am cracking up.

  • no.
    but i hate peta.

  • That’s certainly a…fascinating way to try and win people over.

  • Yes, probably a little too racy.

But it doesn’t help that it’s advocating an alternative lifestyle.

  • Maybe the last one because it shows too much skin, but the other pictures don’t show anything but a girl eating vegetables (or that’s what the innocent will think).

  • There have been other PETA commercials that was banned by the superbowl too. They were apparently “offensive”

  • PETA is so stupid.  And yes, they’re a bit too racy, in my opinion.

  • Hahaha I saw this video the other day. I was going to write something about it but I like steak too much to endorse such activities.

This is much more racy than a spare nipple!

  • They’re certainly too something for something, I’m sure… ><

It’s hard for me to understand how someone just looks at asparagus and thinks, “Wow, I should put this in my vagina! :D

  • That’s ridiculous, you can have sexy dorito and starburst commercials but not sexy vegetable commercials?

  • i don’t care about the the super bowl or so called “family programs”
and peta has always been lame.

  • you’d have to be vegan to join PETA.  Dairy products and eggs are abusive to cows and chickens and you can’t eat them EVER. and forget about eating honey those poor bees.

come on now everyone think of the little sea kittens.

  • Normally I wouldn’t think that the commercial was too much..
However this one is quite different.
People compare it to Victoria’s Secret commercials when in fact there is a huge difference.
Yes they both show models sauntering around in underwear…however the PETA commercial shows the models getting busy with vegetables…and that’s revolting.

  • i think PETA is pathetic for posting this.

  • Of course they need sex with veggies. That’s all the crazy fucks at PETA can get.

  • It’s more gross than racy lol. It’s true that “sex sells”, but I doubt millions of meat eating, football watching, beer drinking men will see that and debate internally over whether they should dip their Frito chip into the beef chilli bowl sitting before them.

  • That was amusing…

And maybe….Only because it wasn’t *wink wink*, “get it?” It was way too obvious…

  • Umm…yes.  The last thing I want to do is watch TV suggesting sex while I’m in the room with friends and family.  My parents can’t even say the word sex in front of me without feeling totally uncomfortable.  So, excuse me for avoiding all sex suggestive, related things popping up in the family room.

  • Hardly.  The Superbowl isn’t exactly the pinnacle of modesty.

Methinks the beer, steak and animal testing lab advertisers didn’t want to compete with the sexy veggie ads.

  • I think the stupidity of the ad, may be worse than the sexuality aspect.

What idiot came up with this ad concept?

  • Interesting title.

  • It certainly got my attention. I do think it is a bit much for the superbowl, but I love it anyway.

  • “Two things you can never get too much of are sex and vegetables.”

                  –Frank Zappa

  • Not particularly. People act as if they’ve never seen a vegetable fetish before…

  • Every time I hear something like this from PETA, I want to go out and have a steak.

  • @Erika_Steele - Freaking Sea Kittens.  Some genius thought that up for sure. What if I don’t like cats? I don’t care if you call them Raisinettes, I still will think fish are gross.

  • @Lizbeth8207 - yea, the PETA freaks are idiots.  Sea Kitties was supposed to make people not eat fish.  You can see how well the campaign is going over.

  • I think these commercials AND the lingerie bowl are stupid.

its just using women as sex objects to promote things that have nothing to do with them.. ie vegetables..

and also using them to run around in lingerie and play football.. what next.. zoos full of scantily clothed women? I think that’s where we’re headed…

  • Is that the equivalent of us meat-eating carnivores f*cking a donkey?   Seriously though, our DNA and reproductive organs are more similar  to a 4 legged species than we are to asparagus.

I think PETA should go back to the hippies and man-hating dikes image.  It keeps them from reproducing.
