We have witnessed some of the most blatant racism in our country over the last few months and it has gone totally unchecked.  I am talking about the racism against white people.

I was IMing NightCometh last night and she mentioned a post she had written.  Her post was about Rev. Joseph Lowery’s Inaugural benediction yesterday.

Here is part of Lowery’s prayer:

“Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right.”  Here is the link:  Link

So in a Presidential Inauguration, a man prayed that “white will embrace what is right.”  He prayed that about a whole people group lumping all white people into one group and saying they needed to embrace what was right.  That indicates that white people currently don’t embrace what is right. 

What would have been the reaction if any other people group was singled out other than white people?  There would have been a storm of controversy.  The president would be forced to denounce the statement. 

Do you think that Rev. Lowery’s prayer was inappropriate?

                                      

 I was talking to h0peless_romantic on IM tonight and she was talking about how she wished she was taller.

 

She is 5’1″ and she said people would respect her more if she was taller.  I am 6′ 4″ and I admit that it is easier to command respect if you are taller.

If you had to pick between being 2 inches taller or 2 inches shorter than you are now, which would you pick?

We can question whether the count was legitimate that led to President Bush becoming president against Al Gore 8 years ago.

Yes we can.

We can question whether the Supreme Court’s decision was appropriate. 

Yes we can.

We can grumble all through the swearing in of President Bush questioning whether he was really the real president.

Yes we can.

On 911, we can discuss whether it was appropriate for President Bush to just sit there in the classroom.

Yes we can.

After 911, we can discuss whether President Bush should have done more to protect us.

Yes we can.

We can even make suggestions that he was involved in the taking down of the towers.

Yes we can.

We can watch as congress authorizes force.

Yes we can.

We can say President Bush went too far in going into Iraq.

Yes we can.

We can say that  he was incompetent.

Yes we can.

We can mock him when he talks.

Yes we can.

We can blame the economy for the last 8 years on him.

Yes we can.

Now we have a new president.

If the troops withdraw too quickly from Iraq and cause a civil war, we can blame Obama.

Yes we can.

If gas prices begin to go up again, we can blame Obama.

Yes we can.

If terrorists attack us in two years, we can blame Obama for showing weakness in Iraq.

Yes we can.

We can also say that Obama knew something about the attacks before they happened.

Yes we can.

If the economy doesn’t improve, we can blame Obama’s new policies.

Yes we can.

If we see a few examples of government corruption in the next 4 to 8 years, we can blame Obama for not bringing change to Washington.

Yes we can.

If Obama slips up in his oath today, we can immediately jump on him and make fun of him.

Yes we can.  Yes we can.  Yes we can.

                    

I don’t remember the media being so excited when President Bush was elected.

Is it me or is Obama being treated like royalty by the news media?

It was early on today when it all of a sudden hit me that today was the last full day of President Bush as president of the United States.

I couldn’t help but to think that others wanted to say goodbye too.
