  • Chris Brown and His Punching Bag

Many of you have probably already heard about R & B singer Chris Brown and allegations that he beat up his girlfriend Rihanna.  Here is the link:  Link

On the radio talk show this morning, they were talking about whether to continue playing his music.  One radio station has already pulled his songs based on listener feedback.

On the radio one of the guys mentioned that he thought even if the allegations were true, he didn’t think that the radio stations should stop playing his music and destroy the guy’s career because of one mistake.

If the allegations of abuse are true, do you think the radio stations should pull his music based on one mistake?

  • If they did that for all the artists, there wouldn’t be that many songs left to play!!

  • I think every station should decide that based on their listening audience.  Radio is a business… if people want to hear it, play it.  If they don’t, then don’t.

  • By itself, no.

But if there is public outcry over it, I think it would be a prudent buisness decision to then pull the music.

  • that’s assuming this is the only time he’s pulled something like this…. I mean, people don’t get caught 100% of the time.

  • It should be up to the individual radio stations based on what their own listeners think.

  • I read that Rihanna slept with Jay Z and gave Chris Brown herpes.

  • Yes. Make an example of him. It shouldn’t be mandated that stations do it or anything, but absolutely it should be shown in no uncertain terms that that sort of behavior can and will ruin your reputation…and your 7-figure salary.

  • Funny, I didn’t hear that he beat her up, but went rabid and bit her arms.

But really, they won’t keep him off the air long. Even if his record company dropped him, someone else would pick him up before he hit the ground.

@Mcon - Actually, I think Chris Brown slept with Jay-Z and gave Rihanna herpes.

  • No they shouldnt pull his songs, as of right now it is all alleged. Who knows if they argued, if she went nuts and he restrained her from hitting him? Im not saying that, but I am saying innocent until proven guilty. None of us knows what happened so until the real story comes out I wont pass judgement.

  • I think they need to stop focusing so much on the lives of celebrities and start worrying about more important things, like the economy, AIDS, starving children, and the war in Iraq.

    I understand it’s a radio station, but seriously…

  • I never liked his music anyway so I could care less if it is on the radio.

I feel really bad for his girlfriend (ex- grilfriend hopefully), not because it is another celebrity but because no one deserves to be hurt like that especially by a “loved one”. The messed up thing about it is, I think everyone is deciding not to play his music because it’s Rihanna, if it was a non-celebrity chris brown was going out with and beat radio stations wouldn’t be pulling his music off.

Unfortunalty this boy cott prob wont last forever, he will prob come up with a new cd in a year he’ll apologize and the public will prob forgive him…..terrible.

  • @Dare2BDiferentt - No, I heard that Kanye west slept with Jay-z who slept with Chris Brown who then gave Rihanna herpes

  • beating up your girlfriend is not a mistake…

  • @omgitsmackie - All those things are very Important. But domestic violence is a big issue and I think if they let Chris Brown off the hook It shows that domestic violence is ok…when we all know that it is not!

  • @Chesschick01 - And then Rihanna slept with Soulja Boi and he slept with Beyonce and she slept with Eddie Murphey, and he sleeps with everybody.

  • I think it should be up to the fans and what they want. If they do not want to hear his music because he is accused of being a woman beater, then so be it. If it ruins his career, then oh well. He should have thought about that before he beat her up.

  • @Chesschick01 - It’s an issue, but the only reason they’re REALLY making an issue out of this is because it’s Chris Brown. If they’re going to act like this JUST because of a celebrity, they should do it with anyone and everyone. Well, not everyone. That would be impossible, but I think you get the idea.

I don’t think rape, abuse, or anything else of that nature should be taken more seriously or given more attention just because of the person it happens to. It does have it’s pros, though. I mean, because it’s a celebrity it will get out there and spread awareness, but at the same time… we don’t need celebrities to do that. All it takes is one person (non-celebrity). And yes, it can be done.

  • One mistake? This is behavior that is almost always a pattern. If he gets a pass for this next time he might kill someone before people get a clue.

  • have they pulled Michael Jackson’s songs? bahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • It’s difficult to say. I guess it’s up to the stations and the listening areas they provide for. It kind of reminds me of when Sinead O’ Connor’s music got destroyed because she said something about the pope back in the 90′s.

Chris Brown’s music has nothing to do with this allegation about hurting rhianna.

Even if they do pull the plug on his music at this time. It won’t prevent him from making music later on in his lifetime. Maybe we should have pulled the plug on Elvis’s or Johnny Cash’s music just because they used drugs…

If it happens for one artist it should happen for others too. No exceptions.

Maybe there is more to this than just the allegation…would it be the same if he was caucasian?

  • I remember how the radio stations reacted to the Dixie Chicks because of the comment they made–would assault stop a radio station from playing music?  That’s another story.

  • @omgitsmackie -  Yup,Now all we need is a celebrity  to serve in the Iraq war. I would like to add that I voted for Ron Paul the only one running for president who wanted to end the War.

  • Being a wife beater is more than just a “mistake” but I don’t know the answer to the question.

  • I am reading comments about people saying songs were pulled because people said crap about the pope or the dixie chicks got there music pulled because they talk smack about the president. All they were doing was exercising there freedom of speach. They should not have been punished.

But Chris Brown Beat up his girl friend. Hands down he needs to get punished, like other men who beat up there girlfriend or wife. As much as I did like him music he has let me down as a fan and I really don’t want to hear his stuff anymore

  • It’s wrong what he did but he turned himself in. Abuse is illegal but so are other things. Stations still play Snoop Dog’s things even though he’s be caught with illegal drugs. They’ll play Coldplay even though they’ve been sued for ripping a few chords. Brittany has had DUI’s and Circus is on every pop station.

You can’t have double standards. All or nothing. Chris Brown didn’t commit the worst crime that a celebrity can commit. Many people have done worse and gotten away relatively clean.

  • He made the mistake of slapping around another beloved celebrity. Were it some unknown woman he would be forgiven very quickly. Now it is one set of fans vs the other. I hope he gets put in prison like the common criminal he is.

You know the old saying, You can take the thug out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the thug.

  • but I want to know WHY he beat Rhianna

  • Some artists have done far worse and are still being played. I’m not even a huge fan of his but I still think H3LL NAW they shouldn’t pull him from the radio!! We don’t have the full story from both sides. And if she really gave him the herp, in my opinion, that’s a justifiable beatdown. *shrugs shoulders* Let the justice system deal w/ it.

  • @Dare2BDiferentt - Yeah,I can’t top that

  • If it’s true, he should be charged and put in jail. There’s tons of celebrities out there that have done horrible things and yet society still panders to them. They get a slap on the wrist.  I think they need to be subjected to the same punishments ‘ordinary’ citizens are – or maybe more so because they are celebrities? – instead of being treated with kid gloves.

I don’t believe in any form of censorship, though.

  • Pssshhh….don’t most rap songs proclaim the wonders of beating your woman? Let’s give him some props for practicing what others preach.

  • Some stations are still playing Michael Jackson’s music, aren’t they?

I think it should be a station by station choice.  Fortunately, the radio stations I generally listen to don’t play Chris Brown anyway, so it’s not an issue for me.  However, my teenage daughter understands the reality of what is going on and gets that his music is independent of what he’s currently going through.  She says she changes the radio station when one of his songs come on.

I say, leave it up to the fans.  There are plenty of other radio stations to listen to.

  • A “mistake”? How about a crime? That said…I think it should be up to each radio station depending on the listener feedback they get. Ultimately, for them, it’s a buisness decision, and they don’t want to look like they’re endorsing criminal behavior.

  • I guess if they wanted to make a point they should just not play his songs so frequently. But I think they should still recognise that he has some talent.

  • For a short while, yes. Then it will get back on.

  • No because he is human and of course violence in no way is justified but we still don’t know the whole back story, so no they shouldn’t

  • Nice title.  I just think he should have done to him what he did to her.

  • If they did that for all the artists who made one mistake…There wouldn’t be any music left!!! *sighs*

Its sad that he did that. I was shocked to hear.

  • That’s stupid. What the hell does him hitting someone have to do with his music? If the music is good (and I’m not saying it is) then play/buy it. He’s not out there to be your role model. That’s like some pedophile inventing the cure for cancer and we say, nope, we won’t support it because he’s a pedophile…one thing has nothing to do with the other. Give me the ten songs, I’ll give you the ten dollars, and we can stay out of each others business.

  • I think they should ask Rihanna.

  • Ouch…..I have no idea. I mean, the guy’s just a baby——19. Then again, age shouldn’t matter in this case.

  • Many OTHER celebrities have made arguably worse mistakes and I doubt their songs were pulled. But if the allegations are true, I’d still support stations pulling his songs.

  • I just wish celebrities would grow up! Thats really all I have to say about it!

  • No, but they should pull it because it’s shitty music.

  • i dotn think its up to the radio stations to decide morality here but they banned marilyn manson for a lot less.

  • @tigerdauphin - Thanks! I’m glad someone agrees with me! :)

  • Maybe there was a rabid dog in the car…

  • It should be based on listener feedback. If the stations want to pull his songs because of what he did, and the listeners agree, let them.

  • Does the music promote what the guy did? If not, let it ride. Too much censorship happens already.

  • The list of wife/girlfriend beaters in the music industry is long. That’s a lot of music to pull.

I’m sort of curious why this one is a big deal? I mean, domestic violence is unacceptable, but why is THIS a big deal?

  • The songs lose their sentiment with the case.  Some ‘artists’ use this to fuel their career, I dunno.

  • Isn’t it still unclear what really happened? They shouldn’t pull off his songs from the radio

  • oooo touchy topic. I heard that they pulled the Wrigley’s commercial because of it also.

  • @Kontzicles - I’m not sure you said what you meant to say ….

  • Do you know how many classic records they’d have to pull off the shelf if this was a legit policy?

  • I think it would be a fitting punishment for a self-obsessed woman beater.

  • @SpiderDad - lol.. I’m not surprised… I was trying to say that beating your girlfriend up though a mistake.. is not a “mistake” especially in our culture. He’s not a lowlife who doesn’t know right from wrong.. He is fully saturated in our society and should know better. He’s got some head issues, and I think that decisions like that should affect his career… Just like if I did that, I would lose my job.

  • A good amount of hiphop glorifies crime and violence, and a number of them can’t be mistaken for law abiding citizens. Take a look at 2Pac, who was involved in a slew of violence, mollestation, and other legal allegations yet is one of (or the) most revered rappers of all time. Doesn’t seem consistent to pull Chris Brown’s songs off the radio for that alone, unless there is an expressed will in the audience to never hear a Chris Brown song again.

And then, you’re just giving your audience what they want.
    -David

  • @Kontzicles - Yeah, I assumed you meant that it wasn’t a “mistake” (like forgetting to pick up milk) but it was a choice. It could have been interpreted to mean that it’s not a mistake to beat your girlfriend (i.e., it’s a good thing).

Any man that beats a woman is not a real man. Period.

  • Well, they pulled the Dixie Chick’s songs off the air simply for stating a political belief. This man actually hurt someone…Do I think his songs should be pulled? I don’t know. I really don’t like rap/R&B anyway. I listen to country and rock mainly.

It is sad that something like this could ruin his entire career, but he’s in the spot light. Abuse is wrong, no matter what the circumstance.

  • I personally lost mad respect for him, but I am not convince that this means his music should be pulled not yet anyway.  I thought he was a good guy.  He is one of the few rapper/singer (whatever you want to call him) out there that hasn’t gotten in big trouble until now.  As of right now, I refuse to support an abuser by listening to his music.

  • well, I’ve been in abusive situations before so I feel yes, they should. maybe temporarily, but the problem with doing something once is, it may become a habit.

  • She probably deserved it though.

  • I think they should do whatever the hell they want.

  • So, I was going to make my usual argument that maybe the woman had it comin’, but the Google ads that come up for this entry:

“Chris Brown Assaulted Rihanna? Pics & Story w/ Celebrity Toolbar”, “Punching Bags: For home gyms and fitness centers. Find your punching bag now!”, and “Fear No Man: Discover What Boxing Instructors And The Army Don’t Want You To Know.” Too sublime.

  • No, they should keep playing his music.

But they should stick him in jail for assault.

  • yes because his music sucks anyways!

  • Okay, I’m a FAN of Lil Wayne and T.I. and most rappers that have something meaningful to say. But most all of them have criminal records. Some have had murder charges. Possesion, possession with intent to distribute, gang violence, gun crimes.

True or not, fair is fair and taking his stuff off the radio isn’t.

  • Chris Brown’s a fag for hitting her. I am no longer a fan

  • No, I don’t think his songs should be pulled off the radio.  BUT, I do think that his other deals as far as commercials (i know wrigley already has), etc. should be pulled because they probably don’t want a woman abuser as their voice.  He’s not really doing the advertising for the radio station as a whole, though.  If a doctor punched his wife around and got off with community service or something, would he lose his job?  NO.  He may lose some clients though…just the same for Chris.

  • its a pretty big mistake..

  • i don’t even think his music has anything to do wit anything, but this is united states, so pretty much anything is possible, and personally yell no dey shouldn’t pull anything. i was thinking.

  • violence againts women is not just a mistake. it’s a huge mistake. what sort of guy would ever have the guts to beat up a woman. i can’t imagine.

  • he made his bed. now he has to sleep in it

  • No.
Radio stations should play music because it’s good, not because the artist who plays it is a good person.

I couldn’t care less if he is a jackass. That doesn’t make his songs any less good/bad.

Abuse is wrong, and there are laws against it. He will probably be punished anyways. I don’t see the need to stop playing his songs on the radio.

  • No…
The girl that sang that song REHAB…..its widely known that she is a drug use, i dont see us pulling her music?

  • @Mcon - I heard that, or something similar too.

  • He sucks anyways…so yes.

  • Yes. If the allegations are true, this guys career should be destroyed.

  • @kattshorty - apparently it does.  i mean… mickey rourke beat his wife, and everyone still likes him…

@Chesschick01 - freedom of speech is being able to voice opinions without being arrested or executed (whereas in some other countries, saying ill words against your president will make you disappear forever).  their songs were pulled from airplay due to the possible backlash of talking up against the pope or the president.  they didn’t get killed or arrested.  their music was not confiscated and destroyed by the government.  their songs were pulled from radio stations… privately owned radio stations.  this has nothing to do with freedom of speech.  it has to do with radio stations choosing not to play their music.

  • Hey common…he was hungry…and embarressed that Jay Z gave him herpies!

  • and i feel that Americans should own up to their mistakes more.  there are a lot of comments on this site saying he shouldn’t be punished for his one mistake.  he SHOULD be punished for his mistakes.  we all should.  it wasn’t an accident, it was a mistake.  mistakes come from choice, and if he chose to beat the living crap out of his girlfriend, he then chose to deserve punishment.

  • A radio station only survives because people listen to the music.
If people don’t want to hear the music, then the station owners should take it off the air.

  • Humm no, it’s just music. A moral check would make the radio quite quiet.

  • I think they should keep playing his music, everyone makes mistakes. Leave the poor guy alone.

    ~Alexx

  • I don’t think his music should suffer because he beat his girlfriend.  If Britney was taken off the air every time she messed up, then she would be on and off every other day.
When a few people complain about the same thing, radio stations over react, so they don’t loose listeners.  But, they don’t think about the tons of other listeners who actually want to hear Chris Brown.

  • NO!  Than what about TI who got caught with a weapon, or all those rappers that have gone to jail for beating someone, or being in a gang, using drugs, etc.  That’s just not fair to do that to Chris Brown.  Other wise do that to all artist.

  • @radicalramblings - I agree with you.  He’ll get his due, I’m sure!  Radio, though, is in the business of providing music to the public…not making judgement calls.  That’s why America is the home of the free!

  • I agree that Chris Brown was wrong, but I don’t think they’ll take him off the radio.
R.Kelly is still on the radio.
And music is becoming shit, so they need as many artists as possible

  • no i don’t think his career should be ruined by this.
    a) he’s 19 and marketable, if you’re looking at it from that point of view.
    b) he’s got good music
    c) everyone makes mistakes. if he does it again, then we’ll talk.
    d) we have no heard the full story yet so people should stop making assumptions. move on with your lives until we know the whole thing.

  • If they are true, than they should most definitely pull his music off the air.

  • I heard that stations have been pulling his music off of the shelf.  They have also stopped his Got Milk endorsement and Wrigleys ads as well.  I don’t think that’s 100% fair since he hasn’t been proven guilty of anything.  Despite whatever celebrity status he has, he should be punished to the fullest extent if he is proven guilty.

  • Two radio stations in my city have already stopped playing his music, and I’m glad. I mean, plenty of artists get in trouble for different things, but I think beating on your girlfriend is just an offense that’s lower than shit.

  • No one pulled R Kellys music off the air when he was accused of sex with a minor.. Chris Brown is a douche bag..

  • If he manages to bump off Rihanna and off his own music, the bastard deserves a medal.

  • I don’t get how hitting someone should mean him not getting his songs played. Not that I listen to him or anything I’ve never even heard a single song.

  • i thnk tht would be messed up, plus ya have ta give the guy the benifit of the doubt. an i thnk she’s a lil crazy anyway, (fatal attraction anyone…?????lol)

  • Actually, he bit her.  Or so I heard.

Gah, I don’t care much- I don’t even know any of Chris Brown’s songs…he sounds the same as everything else on the radio right now.

  • Why not the Dixie Chicks were banned for saying what most of us were thinking that they were ashamed of Bush. It is a way of saying this is not alright. Our bucks and where we put them are our vote for what is right and wrong in the world.

  • I doubt it was “one mistake”.  Perfectly nice, normal guys just don’t wake up one day and beat up their girlfriends out of the blue.

  • honestly, a mistake that big doesn’t even count as “one mistake.” besides, from the report, it’s happened more than once. no thanks. i don’t want to hear his music ever again.

  • is this station for real? people sing about adultery, lewd sex acts, murder and doing drugs… and when somebody hits his girl in rage he is deemed unfit to have his songs played? the people that requested should just fuck off and listen to christian rock.

  • why pick on Chris Brown? If radio stations are still going to play R. Kelly songs and Michael Jackson songs, why not continue to play Chris Brown? We’ll give child molesters and rapists air play but not a woman beater? What sense does that make. Stop playing them all or none at all.

  • thats some crap right there…
this is where i ask myself if some other singer gets into a fist fight with somebody at a party, are the radio stations going to stop playing their music?? What about when brandy got into a car accident and somebody died from it or something along those lines–they didnt stop playing her music ((although that was an accident)) somebody was still hurt but her music played on. its just shitty.

  • One has to wonder if this was the first time, he’s ever done something like this to her, or any other female he’s been in a relationship with. I don’t really care if they pull his songs or not, I’ve lost all respect or want to listen to his music in the first place.

  • yes, even though i believe in second chances.
by playing his music (which by the way i’m a fan of)
it’s supporting him and right now he’s not in a state
of which he needs our support. domestic violence
should never be taken lightly and he shouldn’t be treated
any differently. oh and if you didnt know, tmz said
wringley’s ? spll chck is pulling his gum commercial too.

  • maybe just until this whole thing blows over. (obviously it won’t ever completely go away, it’s very relevant news right now, people are talking about it, it hasn’t been sorted out, etc.)

Chris Brown’s not completely evil and heartless because of the incident… but he does have problems that he needs to work through. he’s probably still a good person and maybe in the future he can have a career again but right now everyone’s talking about it, and by playing the song, the radio station is sending a message that it feels indifferent towards this shocking news about the allegations of domestic violence.

  • @msbutterfli - EXACTLY. He is not the first person to make a mistake, and he is, like everyone else, just a person

  • @bound_by_hell - the fact that it’s such current and shocking news is the reason I think the songs should be taken off the air for the time being. it’s on the top of everyone’s mind in terms of entertainment news. I would have suggested that michael jackson’s songs not be played for a few weeks after the bomb was dropped that he was a child molester, but now that we have all processed the news and are no longer in shock, most of us are okay with listening to his music on the radio.

people are still in shock about chris brown and until we come to terms with the incident, especially what actually happened (which we aren’t sure about), I think people need a little time away from chris brown’s music.

  • There were bite marks on Rehanna, too. The rumors at my school say that Chris Brown was fighting with Rehanna and apparently something Rehanna did or said made him get furious and over-react or something. I believe that they should stop playing his songs on the radio also, and it’s mostly because I don’t want to hear all his cheerful songs and stuff. It will just be frusterating to listen to because I’m pretty sure that right now, Chris Brown is NOT a happy camper.

I also heard that Chris Brown will bail himself out or something and that he will only have about one year in jail. I am pretty sure that he DID turn himself in. I am still very curious about Rehanna. She is labeled innocent but she might not be. It could be both Rehanna AND Chris’s fault. I don’t want to go on and hate Chris because nobody really KNOWS exactly WHY he did the things he did to Rehanna.

I put up a post about this on my blogg myself and I wasn’t very happy about this either. It got me thinking…why hate Chris Brown…when we don’t even have enough information to judge him like that. We arn’t even sure that the information that we DID hear is true yet. I would wait a while longer first and if I was ABSOLUTLY POSITIVE that the information was true…THEN I would go on and start to take away stuff that reminds me of Chris or Rehana…or both for that matter.

  • you were listening to 104.1
    haha

  • @AlterEgo909 - Right! And I totally understand that what he did was completely uncalled for, but he’ll get his punishment anyways, why make it any worse by taking the music off the air!

  • LOL i just like the title of this blog. that’s all.

  • There are hundreds of musicians that do horrible things like that, yet no one pulls their music. Why Chris?

  • no. the two situations are un related. if we werent so involved in celebrities lives, people would still listen to him. dont get me wrong, its horrible that he beat up rhianna, but he doesnt deserve to be ruined.

  • nope, i dont think they should take out his songs. his songs are still good.

  • haha oh man. thats insane. No, they shouldn’t pull his songs. What about the artists who sing about dealing drugs and hoes and blah blah blah. It’s expected. Its the spice of pop. Sadly.

  • I want to know what happened first before rushing to judgment…

  • On one radio station that I listen to, They stopped Paying R Kelly’s music when he was accused of Having sex with Minors. What is the difference between Beating your girlfriend and having sex with minors? They had people call in for an opinion. I tihnk they should stop playing his music. R Kelly can’t make money off alot of radio stations cause he messed up, why should Chris Brown? ONLY if these accusation are true of course. But thats just my point of view.

  • They should stop airing it right now. Suspend it, at least. He shouldn’t be getting support from anyone after he beat up Rihanna, who is a deserving music artist (who probably did nothing wrong). I think recording studios should ban Chris Brown from recording anything until he takes some domestic abuse classes and learns to be a real man and calm DOWN. Until then though, I don’t blame radio stations one bit for discontinuing his music.

  • If you’re going to do that, then why not uphold that standard so all celebrities lose their career over an assault charge? And on that note why isn’t Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan and all the other celebrities having their careers trashed for crimes like DUI? Isn’t that just as wrong as assaulting someone; it’s not intentional harm but it is total negligence to the potential harm that can be caused. If that were the case 50% of stars would be out of luck, they’re not exactly known for being law-abiding, moral, or rational people.

I’m not saying his music shouldn’t be pulled, but if that is the case then all celebrities who are guilty of comparable crimes ought to face similar punishment.

  • The radio station should pleased the majority of the listener.  So, if the majority called in saying they don’t want to hear his music then they should stop.  If no one complains then they should keep on playing his music.

  • Depending on the severity of the issue.

  • In the words of Rihanna:

    Please don’t stop the
    Please don’t stop the
    Please don’t stop the music

Mama say mama sa, Ma ma coo sa
Mama say mama sa, Ma ma coosa

Not over this boshit! Please don’t stop the, please don’t stop the, please don’t stop the muuusic!

  • I so agree with the other people that they should pull his music off the radios and if anything play more Rihanna songs because Rihanna is so much better then Chris Brown anyday. Thats probley why he hit her because he was Jealous and if that is the case he deserves to get his sorry ass off the radio.

  • R Kelly’s songs are still played on the radio…

  • if what he did was true, then that’s a pretty horrible “mistake.” i don’t want to listen to him, but i won’t boycott a radio station because they play his music. i’ll simply change the station while his songs are on. besides, a bunch of radio stations still play Micheal Jackson…
[bytheway, your subject title really bothers me]

  • I think this is all a part of Rihannas plan to distroy Christ Brown… other then that no. and i love both singers… they are my fav in America that arent trying to hard, and arent fake, and write some seriouse work…

  • Okay. Number one: beating up your girlfriend is not ‘one mistake’. Accidentally hitting her with your elbow as you turn around is a mistake. This isn’t even a seriese of mistakes…this is entirely on purpose, and it could have easily been prevented.

Having said that, I don’t think there would be much a musician could do that would make me want to pull their songs from the radio. You really just have to separate the music from the musician.

  • PS: Rihanna can come stay with me any day, if she needs to get away or anything…

  • this is utter bullshit. America and its god damn double standards. If the character of those we idealize really MATTERED then why the hell do we celebrate past presidents and leaders as heros e.g. Lincoln  and Truman –clearly they were hypocritical lying murderous racist bastards. If you pull Chris Brown’s songs from radio, pull those bastards down from the high place they hold in the history books. *SCOFF*

  • Sure, take away his livelihood and career – that’s gonna make him a better person.  At what point do people have to get to understand that if you don’t like something about him, don’t buy his music.  His personal life has no bearing – we don’t own him.

  • Yes..For now I believe that his music should not be played on the radio…Someone needs to send a message that it is wrong and why not use him as an example…Even the gum commercial has stoped showing his music/gum because of what he did…It is WRONG!

  • Not my place to judge music or it’s forum, but physical abuse isn’t a “mistake.”

  • his career and his personal life should be separate, just like in all other professions. Celebrities are real people.

  • his job is to be a musician, not a good boyfriend. he makes good music, let him be a bad person; whateverrrrr man.

  • @SinisterBen - oh yes, people will take you seriously when you spell the word “serious” with an “e” at the end…

  • @steph843 - paris hilton’s career wasn’t trashed because she doesn’t have a career.

  • Now that’s just stupid.  Play the damn music!

  • @gypsybird - oh haha Seriouse… (thanks for the update! I wont have to worry about it any anymore)
