Nope. Not a fan of txt speak.

Honestly, I can’t figure out what that text message even says. My texts are grammatically correct, so that “txt spEch” confuses me, greatly.
Only to be funny or otherwise less than serious.
EDIT: I mean outside of texts. While texting, I will truncate spelling if I need the room badly enough.
nope. do you?
Never. My inner Grammar Nazi would kill me.
Nope.
a few words i abbreviate, but not like that.
Nope. I don’t even know how to send a text message!

Not really.
ummm… can you repeat the question in english?
What does that even say? =D
texting is very annoying to the figners!
Not even when I’m texting.
wow, i can’t even understand that pic. i only severely abbreviate when it’s necessary (i.e. telling a story or venting) because of the character limitation.
Only when I can’t fit all the letter into a text or pulse. I don’t really care for it and you will never catch me saying “lol” apart from putting it quotes or, on extremely rare instances, as a joke. I still read it as one would a word rather than reciting letters… maybe I’m just getting old.

I’m sure I wrote in some annoying way back when I was in middle school. Briefly. Then I realized how time-consuming it was, both to write and to read. (Yes, it takes me more time to type in texting language than it does in proper English.) I use some acronyms, but that’s about it.
Gdness grcis no.
I type out my words, unless I’m INTENTIONALLY doing it, merely to be a dork, purposefully. When I would like to express my opinion, however, it’s well-formatted, and written/typed in complete sentences.

Only the occasional lol or btw.

Most definitely not. I’m only 19, but I still can’t decipher any of that crap. I only use it if I’m playing an online game and don’t have time to type full words. I’m also an English major, so it really bothers me.
No, and I hate seeing it from anyone else unless it is an actual text from them. It annoys the crap out of me when I see it here on xanga!

It’s fine for telephone text messaging, since it’s not really that easy to type into a phone. But nowhere else.

Only texting.. but not as exaggerated as that, lol. I just try to make life easier while texting.. as for online conversations, or xanga, I spell out all the words and try to use correct grammar. :]
Yeah, only because it’s quicker. Rather than typing out everything, I say something like, “LOL! Yeah, rite!” or “Wassup w/u?” and the like.
People have died and killed in the past and even in our present time to learn to read and write. Those who abuse it, slaughter it and completely disregard it make me want to vomit.

It’s bad enough that my brain and my eyes aren’t in sync. My brain processes faster than I can read, write, or type sometimes. So there’s a lot of backspacing and re-reading going on. I miss and misspell words all the time. Text talk makes this worse! I try to avoid it at all costs unless I’m running out of text space. When my friends use it, I have the hardest time reading that stuff. It makes me feel like my brain is a froth coming out of my ears and nose…D=
Sometimes. But not to that extreme in your example. I’m not THAT lazy to type the full word
No. I used to use it all the time in emails, IM’s and texts but now I prefer to write things out fully. *edit* and I just call when I’m feeling lazy.
I abbreviate, but not with I try keeping it simple. I sometimes can’t make out what is written, so I have to send a text back, asking them to rewrite it, this time in ‘normal’ language. It can get pretty annoying.
I tend to spell out the words. It takes me forever, but at least it’s readable.

No, I only text in l33tspeak
No. I stll have to check my internet source for the meanings of a lot of the abreviations.

I don’t have a cell phone and so don’t text, but I can’t spell incorrectly at ALL or it drives me nuts. Except maybe “LOL” or “Thx” or something, but that’s rare, even.
My boyfriend writes mostly in that style though, and somehow it doesn’t really bother me.
DY evr stel ideaz frm lovesporks?
I dont have a predictive text technology on my phone so I have no choice but to make up acronyms and abbreviate things.
I don’t like text speech. I don’t even know what half of that shit even means. I just prefer to spell things out. A lot of people I know just use it because they really don’t know how to spell anything.
yeah..but not like that.
texting is for people who can’t use email, and are somewhere they should be paying attention to what they are doing: ie driving or at a fashion show (examples taken from the Queen of England at church, and Paris Hilton at a fashion show…not that they are the same kind of caliber of people)
also, non-texters had been using L33T Spe4I{ in the earlier part of this decade. (is that still used now?)
My texts are exactly like how I write: with correct punctuation & grammar.
what the hell does that even say?
& no to answer the question at hand

nO, i nvr tlk lik tht. evr.
Actually, I don’t, and the above sentence took me longer to type out than this one. I’m an advocate for the proper spelling of “you.”

but i do use acronyms. “lol”, “omg”, and “wtf” are used a lot.
Sometimes I do while texting.
Only when I’m joking around.
I do not use text speech, except for a few things like lol and brb. I usually use proper spelling and grammar when chatting. This has greatly improved my typing speed.
What does that say?
Only time I ever do, is if I feel extremely sick (with a headache or something) and I’m in dire need of texting a friend something, at that point I’m too lazy to type properly.
Other than that, I never do.
@LifeInPleasantville - Oh thank god, I thought I was the only one who didn’t know how to text!
When I was super young, I did. But, I won’t text in that style in my wildest dreams ever again.
Hahaha ask pansybradshaw
But no, I can’t stand it at all when people type like that, even more when they don’t use ANY kind of punctuation, nothing bothers me more than a whole page of endless run-ons!
Ugh, never. I like being confident that the person on the receiving end can actually understand what I’m trying to say.
What the hell was the question,? LOL
If I’m feeling lazy and talking casually I might abbreviate. It’s probably not true text speech though. If I want to be taken seriously I use standard English conventions.
I find it annoying as hell.
I had to reread that a few times just to understand.
i dont mind when people shorten words just for convenience. after all you can only have a certain number of characters per text, and i dont see the point in being overly anal about using “proper” grammar and puntuation..as long as it gets the point across then its cool..BUT what does drive me crazy is when people change the spelling of words, but theres absolutely no reason for it because its still taking up the same number of characters..one of my main pet peeves is when people say “ma” instead of “my”..
bt lyk its stil jks innit bruv?
nice post, it made me smile )
sometimes if I have to
not even in a text message.
No . It’s rude.
Besides, my kids make fun of me and accuse me of trying too hard to be “hip” when I do.
That’s what you get when raising teenagers.

i use t9. i use it when i’m playing with my friends.

No, I take the time to spell out my words via text. LOL
a mix of both txt and normal speeling-out-all-your words… like i’m doin’ right now…
Nope. I shortcut some words when I’m feeling lazy.
since the 1 and ! key are the same, people often slip in a few 1s by accident when they take their finger off the shift key. writing out “one” = 1 = !
the 8 is … retarded?
nope, cept maybe brb and lol and idk and btw.
I write out words like ‘you’ and use punctuation… I really want a sidekick so I’ll have a lil keyboard – it’ll make it easier
like yea!
I don’t bother with text speech, I even put in proper punctuation because my cell has a full keyboard!!
NO! In fact I think it is making a nation of dummies! Kids can’t even write complete sentences anymore. It drives me crazy.
I only type in short form like that if I have too much to fit in a text & do not want to have to compose another.
That’s not exactly text speech. It’s generally IMing speech, but it totally contradicts the purpose of having txt spech in the first place because you’re supposed to be saving time by typing less. With the time you texted/typed “!!!!oneone11″, you probably could’ve written a proper sentence in the English language.
No. It even took me a few extra seconds to interpret the question, haha.
Never. Too much work with no reward.

I had to reread that a few times just to understand.
i dont mind when people shorten words just for convenience. after all you can only have a certain number of characters per text, and i dont see the point in being overly anal about using “proper” grammar and puntuation..as long as it gets the point across then its cool..BUT what does drive me crazy is when people change the spelling of words, but theres absolutely no reason for it because its still taking up the same number of characters..one of my main pet peeves is when people say “ma” instead of “my”..
bt lyk its stil jks innit bruv?
nice post, it made me smile
)
sometimes if I have to
not even in a text message.
No . It’s rude.
Besides, my kids make fun of me and accuse me of trying too hard to be “hip” when I do.
That’s what you get when raising teenagers.
nope
I usually use prefect spelling and grammar when texting (I have a qwerty keyboard on my phone), but I will use acronyms like idk, imo, omw…
No.. that’s stupid.
NVO
gay
What?
I definitely don’t use text speak. I think I’d kill myself, honestly. And I don’t use chat speak on myspace either. That’s what annoys me more.
No. I’m educated for a reason. =x
not like that. only a few like
ttyl
lol
brb
idk
i use t9. i use it when i’m playing with my friends.
never. i have noticed that i even receive emails from customers using that shit. i always call them on it also. it’s so unprofessional!
no, never.
never. i mean, sometimes i’ll say “yr” instead of “you’re” but nothing too serious. :/
No, I take the time to spell out my words via text. LOL
a mix of both txt and normal speeling-out-all-your words… like i’m doin’ right now…
Nope. I shortcut some words when I’m feeling lazy.
that’s the most annoying thing to read
@ChristieOriley -
it says “(to) Elaine. woot!!!!!!”
since the 1 and ! key are the same, people often slip in a few 1s by accident when they take their finger off the shift key. writing out “one” = 1 = !
the 8 is … retarded?
nope, cept maybe brb and lol and idk and btw.
No. I have this habit where I need to spell everything out correctly.
No
I try my best not to.
Nm
sometimes I do when I text.
not as bad as that, though..
No, never.
