Name the Baby
My brother-in-law who helped me get started on xanga had his first child today. Their baby is a little girl.
(The above photo is not their daughter. It is a random baby from a google search).
For some reason in 9 months, they were unable to think up a name in advance so the baby does not have a name.
So I thought it would be fun for us to help.
What should my brother-in-law name his baby girl?

Trun.
Charlotte.
Raven.
Taylor.
Anything not generic?
Have they thought about family names?
I’m going to go visit my brand new niece tomorrow, who is named Freya. I kinda like it. I also like “Olivia” for some reason.
I’ve always liked the name Peyton but if they would like something more girly, how about Georgia?
Since I’m part Scottish, I’m going to suggest one of my favorite Gaelic female names…Rhiannon (for those unfamiliar with the name, it’s pronouned “ree-ah-nun”).
@GodlessLiberal - I like Olivia too. I would love to use that name if I have anothr girl but Hubby hates it. Something about an ex grlfriend or something
I really like the name Isabelle or Bianca. I was going to name my daughter Bianca, but the nurse kept saying my child looks like an Elizabeth. The more I thought about it the more she really did look like her name should be Elizabeth. She is 4 now and it really fits her. What kind of name do you think she should have? What kind of name do you see her as?
Alba.
Rhiannon. Claire. Tuesday.
I knew someone else in that situation–her kid didn’t have a name for a whole week. One of its cousins got into the habit of calling it “Cousin It.” lol
I think these names are pretty, but they’re my personal choices:
Keira
Allison
Shaylee
Renissa
Also, the website babynames.com is pretty cool. I used it all the time back when I was really into Creative Writing–best way ever to come up with character names.
Buttercup.
@GodlessLiberal - Olivia is a great name!
@abilene_piper_lg - Rhonwen is a good Gaelic name too.
@abilene_piper_lg - I love that name! Maybe because it’s mine

@X_blue_dragon_X - Haha. Alright. Do you normally go by your full name? I know a few and they all just go by “Rhi” for the most part.

I like this whole “Olivia” fad, I’ve never thought about it, but that is a nice name.

Sorry, I had a whole bunch of names going through my head when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still remember most of the ones I had narrowed it down to!
@abilene_piper_lg - Most of the time I go by my full name but I also like to combine it with my middle name, Jo. It took me almost 18 years to become comfortable with it but now I love how unique it is.
Xanga. That would be a cool name for a baby girl…
@X_blue_dragon_X - Well, outside of the British Isles it is quite unique. However, it’s pretty commonplace over there. Just like my ex-boss’s name is “Prya,” which is a common English female name, actually, however, almost unheard of here.
Me…well…my first name is more or less a female name, so I normally shorten my name and go by my first two initials (I’m Lynn Gilbert, of all things >_<).
Aurora or Gwenhyvar
Here’s one a DO NOT recommend
Le-a (click link for the story)
A couple of scary ideas here!
I do like Olivia and Emily a lot. I have a niece named Fiona, which I love. Emma and Sophie are pretty as well. Isabella is pretty, but will be big because of Twilight ha ha. I’m sure they must have some idea for a name, and congratulations to them!!!
@Rob_of_the_Sky - Ha ha love it!

Arie
Don’t let them name her Hannah. That’s what I’ve chosen for my baby girl, should I ever have one. j/k They should name her Hannah. It’s so elegant.
Naomi.
I think a name should hold to more significance than the contextually orphaned suggestions of online friends.
@petitenoirtenue - Katrina.
Right. After a racist hurricane.
Well, there’s my name, Anna, then my middle name, Demetria. Go Greek! =]
I also like Emmalin or Stacy.

-skyy

-eva
-illianna
- bailey
Tiana or Ofelia (Ophelia, if you like). The first one is a name I don’t find common in the mainland states, the second I just like ^_^ Well. If it’s any brownie points, it’s near “Olivia”.

Ava (the name of my first grandchild – now three months old.
Tabitha (but kids might short form to Tabby which is not so nice)
Sabrina (not as feminine as Ava but sounds more independent don’t you think??)
Heaven (not sure why, I just like it.)
I definitely would want something more unique and not a usual name (however pretty) that you hear all the time.
CHRISTa
I agree that Olivia is a nice name, as is Zoe. The first that popped into my head was Clara (or Klara), for some reason, though I’ve never thought much of the name before. And I find Katherine to be a beautiful name, though it’s rather common, and she’s likely to end up called Kate which isn’t nearly as pretty.
Alexandria
Hemlock
@the_evil_tamica - yes – gorgeous name. That’s what I called my youngest daughter.
Ella
Annalee
Christina
Stephanie
Arianne
You will tell us what they decide to name her…won’t you !!!

I always said if I had ANOTHER girl I would name her Evelyn. I just think it’s a beautiful name and it conjures up peace and tranquility.
I quite like my name, haha. Léa FTW. ;D But it’s hard to pronounce to everyone who isn’t French.
Other than that, Violet’s a very nice name. Same for Alexa and Annaleigh.
Remembrance, charlamagna, Arielle, Jade, Amythyst, Ember, i personally like unusual names
Lauren
I’ve always thought Shasta would be a pretty and unique name.
Julie.
xo
baby “shitika” ?
May, Allison, Emma, Eliza, April, Kylie….anything gaelic would be beautiful….Alasdair… Oh, and multiple middle names!
I think that a picture of the child would be necessary to make a better decision. it’s not only about beautiful names, but about what suits the child. Some native american tribes had no name for the child for some years until their character emerged and could be named then.
I don’t want the child to hate the name because it doesn’t fit them, ya know? But I will say a few names, and I guess you could figure out whether it suits her?- Lily, Lilly, Lillie, Lillian- Cynthia, Cindy- Ashleigh, Ashlee, Ashley- Veronica- Vivianna
I think all of these names have a different personality you might think of. Perhaps baby name meanings matter? Maybe this will help- Lily (et al) : Lily the flower- Cynthia & Cindy: From Kinthos [the name of a mountain in the island of Delos where Apollo and Artemis were born] and also the title of the moon goddess ::shrug::- Ashleigh (et al): From the Ash Tree Field / Ash Wood- Ashleen, another name, is Gaelic and means dream (if that matters)
- Veronica: bringing victory- Victoria, another name, is Latin and means Winner, Conqueror
- Vivianna (or Viviana): Alive
I hope this helps.. directly or indirectly!
Alexandria Lyn, we were going to use this name for our little girl, but my sister-in-law named her son Alexander, a year and a half before our little girl was born. Great nicknames: Alex, Lexi, Andria, Andi. Good luck!

Or Jordanne-Elizabeth ….
Pronounced Jord-anne Its french! Just a suggestion…
aeryn (different than erin pronounced the same though) its a strong name for a girl. not overly girly, its not a season, day of the week or month, nor is it a flower – which are common girl names.
my thought for the day. nap time now.
I like my name Jeanmarie pronounced as it is written one word. I’d be honored. I also like the custom of naming after aunts, grandmothers etc. They used to do it all the time. Also take into consideration and don’t add something to the family name that kids will tease about at school. You know like , Ima Hogg, Ura Hogg.
Jennifer Elaine
Emma.
Ass-Punch Donkey-Spank
Ashley
My favorite girls’ names are Lily, Claire, and Heather.
Brooklyn, I know it’s a city but i think it’s a nice name
I’ve been in love with the name Anna Belle for a while.
Its too innocent of a name for me and my fiance to name any daughter we have. HAHA! just kidding.
I actually wrote a post about this in the past – lots of names NOT to name your kid in it!

maybe Alexandra or Elizabeth or sth like that… pick like a somewhat longer name.. so later you’ll have like other nicknames like lizzy, liz, etc..

KRISTINA!
I like Delilah and Emily.
Dear Dan: I’d advise your brother-in-law the way I usually do others. Forget what names are currently popular. Pick a good name that MEANS something and gives your niece something to live up to. The very idea behind names is that they should be descriptive and exhalting of the person or place they are applied to. Americans are historically bad about this! How many parents pick nice-sounding names for their children based on what some movie star has and never give a thought to what that name means… if anything at all? Common mistake: “Sandra” is a Greek name meaning DARK-haired and should not be applied to a blonde!
Camry
One of my favorite girl names is Brielle.
elin julia or laila jeanette?
i like it to be stephanie
or maybe jeanette
Jessibel.
Lily and Hannah are lovely names.
Of course, it always depends on your brother-in-law and partner’s tastes.
My maiden name is Ainsley. I wanted to carry that name on if I ever was to have a little girl and name her Annesleah. I had a little boy and don’t plan on having any more children. Of course I was the last one with the name Ainsley as a last name in our family. Too many girls, and yet I had a little boy, haha.
I can’t wait to hear what he names his little girl.
tell them to go with their hearts. dont rush it. they will find a beautiful name for their amazing gift.
best wishes.
