I have a few friends that are getting ready to purchase premium on xanga again or for the first time.  So the discussion they will often lead on their sites is whether premium is worth paying for.

Is xanga premium worth it?

I was reading an article about Facebook and religious views.

According to the article, 150 million of the 250 million Facebook users write in something next to the “religious views” box.

Some write in jokes such as:

1.  Flying Spaghetti Monster

2.  Agnostic, but accepting offers

3.  I barely believe I exist

Trunthepaige posted a photo of herself on her xanga site.  Another blogger who does not like her, copied her photo and posted it on his xanga site and said some negative things about her.

Trun is asking the Xanga Team to take down the photo.  The Xanga Team has known about this situation for over 24 hours.

Should the Xanga Team shut down a site if the guy refuses to remove the photo of Trun?

So the Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot created a buzz this week when the payout reached $333 million.

Recently a few bloggers said some negative things about me on another site.  So I did what any blogger would do in my shoes.  I handed each of their names over to a few trolls and asked the trolls to make the bloggers cry.

Now one of the trolls brought disgrace on the troll community.

He found out the woman was on friend lock.  So he gave up immediately and told me it wouldn’t work.  I told him that it wasn’t a big deal and I would just hand her over to another troll.

Then the woman he was supposed to troll contacted me and was angry.  She said the troll had contacted her and told her that I had asked him to troll her.  She also said that he offered to cut a deal where he would make fun of her and she would play along with it and they would both get traffic out of it.

I am sure you know that this violated the blogger/troll relationship.  I understand that trolls by their nature are allowed to be disloyal.  But what self-respecting troll would take the easy way out and just cut a deal with the victim?

The Kike would have never done something like that.  The Kike was one of xanga’s greatest trolls ever.  He would have gained the woman’s trust by commenting on the same blogs and had her add him to her friend list.  He never would have struck a deal with the victim.

For all the talk about xanga going down the crapper, I think we have given bloggers too much blame.  Yes.  We have even given the Xanga Team too much blame.  Maybe the bloggers are working their butts off.  Maybe the Xanga Team puts in 12 hour days.

Perhaps we have ignored the real problem.

Maybe the trolls have just gone lazy.

What is the purpose of art?

I was looking at compete.com today.  I noticed that while xanga has been declining, that most of the other social networks have been growing.

I looked at blogger:

Blogger is now about 25-30 times the size of xanga.

I looked at livejournal:

Livejournal is about 6 times the size of xanga.

I looked at myspace:

For all the talk about myspace being dead, it is actually experiencing some growth.  But either way, it has a ton of traffic even if it is not growing as fast.

So the thought is generally that xanga lost traffic to myspace and then to facebook and that no one is blogging anymore.  But that wouldn’t explain why blogger, livejournal and wordpress are growing.

It is my understanding that with the recession, more people are on the Internet because it is cheaper than going out.

But with all of these other blogging platforms growing, why is xanga shrinking.  Mashable called xanga one of that fastest declining websites on the Internet. 

And we can argue month to month numbers but xanga over the last 4-5 years went from being in the top 100 websites to not even being in the top 1000.

Why did xanga shrink?

Charges have been dropped against a father who was originally charged with child abuse.

The father hit his son with a belt as punishment for goofing off in school and getting bad grades.  The belt left “raised welts on the child’s backside.”  He was charged for felony child abuse before charges were dropped.  Here is the link:  Link
