Basketball
It looks like all the hard work is paying off in working with my oldest son. We have been taking hundreds of basketball shots each night.
He is only a freshman in high school and he is the only freshman that has been asked to work out with the Juniors and Seniors. This is still only preseason conditioning but it is a great step forward.
What would you consider to be your strongest sport?
Comments (107)
Cheerleading! (I know some people don’t think it’s a sport, but it is hard work!)
Swimming.
Sleeping.
Is Xanga a sport?
soccer, man. maybe track… running around an oval isn’t that hard, eh?
I’m no good at sports :/
Congrats to your son.
Badminton.
Soccer, I love it.
Wii Bowling
Belly flopping is the only one I was ever remotely good at.
Baseball hands down. I wish I could play more.
you’re black???
Congratulations on your son doing so well! ^.^
I don’t play a sport at all. I should work on my chess.
Rifle. I was the captain of the team in high school.
Chess.
@josiebunny - Is Xanga a sport?
No, but trolling is.
@skittler335 - Hell yeah it’s a sport! I used to cheer too!!!
My best sport? Aside from cheer it would definatly be vollyball (voleyball? volley…oh whatever).
Used to be Basketball….the back boycotts me playing that sport now….it’s been at least 6 years since I’ve played. Golf is up there but still the back gives me fits. Now it’s fishin….when I can’t fish anymore….I’m doomed!
Kendo. Martial arts are underrecognized sports.
I respect anyone that can play sports that involve a spherical object.
Mmmm … color guard?
@shatterFocus - Bahahahaha! That was a good one!
I’m guessing your son is still tall for his age? Too bad I don’t live closer, I’d help him on some post moves. I liked low post. I had a sky hook that nobody could touch.
Tennis for sure. Love it.
Battle ball
In Junior High…I ruled BB. If there was a professional sport in battle ball, I woulda been drafted #1 outta junior high in battle ball. It was dodge ball basically….but I was good.
I’m a freshman too, ha ha!
Uh, I’m pretty much bad at any sport, including balls. If you count roller skating a sport, I’d call that mine.
SOCCER!
in my Senior year on the varsity team since sophomore year, I scored 15 goals and had a hat trick. It was my prime time.
:]
I received the MVP award in my school for boys volleyball my senior year. I was the libero (middle back) and took alot of the hard hits. I also split my chin open during practice one day because of an exercise that the coach encouraged diving. Later, he told the team that was one thing that sealed the deal for me receiving the award. I had to get 5 stitches though, hey, no pain, no gain.
Scrabble.
multiplayer-fps
Nothin’..never played sports.
Basketball, without a doubt. I had a few scholarships offered to me out of high school, but I was in a serious car accident my senior year. It wasn’t only my favorite sport, but my outright passion. Good luck to your son!
I was really into sports in elementary and middle school. But the girls on the main travel soccer team were REALLY mean to me, so I started distancing myself and got involved in music. I was really good at soccer and decent pitching in softball. I miss softball. That’s something I want to do is get on a team again, but I’m kind of afraid of a ball hitting me!
It’s a tie for me between badminton, fencing, and field hockey.
@they_call_me_steffyjean - volleyball. (i play that too but I’m not that good)
@skittler335 - Cheerleading is definitely a sport!
badminton
only cause i played in high school
I was a pretty good cheerleader back in high school (if I do say so myself). One sport I’d like to try out is hockey though. It looks FUNNN
cheerleading
Volleyball. I miss it so much it hurts. I received a college scholarship to play for a school here in Memphis but they lied about how much I was receiving.
I was moved up to varsity basketball my 8th grade year so I have an idea what your son is up against. Along with the physical demands he also has to be prepared to handle all of the animosity thrown his way.
Tennis!
tennis!
sleeping and eating
Football and sports handicapping
In highschool I ran varsity cross-country and track starting my freshmen year, the seniors weren’t too happy with me either.
Now…dancing? Sleeping? Sexing?
aw how cute you actually shared something from your family life not current issues. I guess you couldn’t help bragging about your son right. Is he way tall like you? cuz if so then I’m sure that helps him out too with basketball.
I don’t know if I have a strongest sport. I guess it used to be basketball as a kid but I haven’t played it at all seriously in like 10 years. But back when I was 12ish and played for the boys and girls club I was the highest scorer on the team (only 2 girls and all boys). And I did play volleyball for 2 years in highschool but I was never a starter at that. Just good enough to make the team and have fun with it.
knitting
Ice hockey. Though, I haven’t played in over 6 years. I’m decent at indoor soccer (against white kids).
Throttle Twisting……….it is a RUSH
Baseball or football; baseball is probably my best.
farcry
I’m not really into sports…. but if shopping is a sport, then I’m definitely a pro at that.
baseball =)
soccer
@TheBigShowAtUD - That was soooo my answer. Track all the way!
Probably men’s fastpitch softball (yes folks, there is such a thing).
Other than that, I’m a decent golfer too.
Soccer is my best ever!
But if kicking people count as a sport, then I am very good that too.
Darts and Horseshoes.
congrats to your son!
i’m a freshman and i play basketball also, as well as softball.
Music. Ummm…yeah.
Marching band
=P
basketball hence the reason i clicked
Soccer. Our team won every game and got first place. And band. =)
Volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee, and dodgeball. And badmitton.
I’m THAT good.
Hockey. I wish we had a girls hockey team when I was in high school. I think I would’ve kicked some serious ass. And kickball. Don’t laugh – there are adult kickball leagues in Atlanta, and if I were in shape and didn’t have a new baby, I’d be all over that. And probably roller derby, too.
Badminton.
Swimming.
I swam butterfly, backstroke and the IM in high school.
I miss it so much!
I can’t decide, either minigolf or chess.
Formerly hockey, currently horseback riding or powerlifting.
Hard work pays off! Congrats!
(I know our kids’ achievements are not our own but I can’t help but feel gleeful when my daughter succeeds at something.)
Probably vball, but it’s hard to say.
I’m pretty good at horseback riding and ice skating, but I’ve never competed in either. (Yes, they’re sports; both are in the Olympics. And anyone who’s seriously tried either knows how physically exerting they are)
Badminton. I kick my family’s butts at cookouts.
pilates, swimming
Napping!
BOOYAH!
Definitely basketball….LOVE it. And I miss playing it SO much. My brother and I used to play for pennies. We would save all of our pennies…as a teenager, pennies are never hard to come by…and then shoot hoops for it. Afterwards, we’d take all of our pennies and go to 711 for Slurpees. Imagine being the guy behind the counter when we’d pay with 137 pennies each
Basketball, for sure! I used to be one to fear on the court, and with a little practice, I could still kick some serious ass!
I used to be stellar at soccer but now I’d have to say bball. I short and make excellent 3-pointers
Snorkel diving.
xc.
Track was the only sport I participated in.
But I’m taking fencing now as a gym class and I’m decent at it.
Gymnastics – uneven bars to be exact.
Dance and snowboarding now.
Gymnastics back in the day.
tiddlywinks
@CelestialTeapot - Eh, I’m not very good at that.
I was in colorgaurd in high school. We used to be pretty dead set on that being a sport. I’m still good at that.
@josiebunny - Eh, I’m not very good at that.
Trolling isn’t so hard:
Step 1: Acquire bad mood. It’s easier when meanness flows naturally. (Beer also works for some people.)
Step 2: Select an unsuspecting target. The more unexpected the trolling is, the more it’d sting. Be mindful of yoru target, everyone is annoyed differently.
Step 3: Be mean! Like gymnastics or figure skating, the form of the trolling is important. Succinctness, wit, and creativity is key.
@CelestialTeapot - Thanks for the tips! I might give it a shot a bit later.
I’m just a sophomore, but i play a lot of sports. My strongest, softball/volleyball.
softball… even though i haven’t played in a while.
congrats to him. (:
uhm, i’m pretty good at track.
is it bad to say sex?
Yaaaay, your son gets a post.
Probably volleyball. I know, it is nothing intense, haha, but I love it and was on my school team. Netball, too, but I don’t enjoy that as much because I get confused with the positions (yes, I was on the team, haha.)
I also played football (soccer for you, that is) when I was younger. I was the best girl in my class so I even got to play with the boys! Haha. That meant you were GOOD in my school! But I haven’t played in aaaages so I am probably rubbish, now.
either volleyball or basketball
napping.
Sitting.
skateboarding. or volleyball.
I swam competitively all throughout high school and before that.
Football followed by rugby
Does sex count?
But me, volleyball!!!!
Roller derby.
I just got my son into basketball…he had his first practice tonite. Hopefully he turns out to be the best player ever and make mommy a bazillion dollars someday
volleyball
I guess I’m the only one who runs on here…running for me! It put out 55 miles a week and don’t you forget it!
I like running. And biking, And rollerblading.
badminton.
Softball/baseball, definitely.
Pit/Battery in the band.
I don’t know about basketball, but when I was playing football, it helped to watch movies of Jerry Rice. He cuts so sharply on film it looks almost instantaneous, but if you watch his feet, you can see a lot of how he does it.
Maybe there are similar movies you can watch for basketball.
Rugby. Union or League, doesn’t matter.
Soccer
