Should Obama be Assassinated?
The secret service are investigating after someone posted a poll on Facebook asking respondents: “Should Obama be killed?”
The poll gave the options of
1. No
2. Maybe
3. Yes if he cuts my health care.
Here is the link: Link
Do you think this is just a harmless joke?
Comments (177)
Inappropriate but par for the course on facebook.
It seems like it is, but it’s the secret service’s job to be humorless.
…It’s not even funny.
Not cool, not cool at all!
I dunno, I feel like someone will….
I’d like something to happen, so that we could get someone else in office fast. The things he’s been saying, and what seems to be coming into the future is starting to scare me quite a bit.
Talk of killing someone is never a joke, sir.
Yeah, Secret Service are not the kind of people whose interest you want to pique. kinda dumb.
Looks like the kids over at myspace finally made their way over to facebook.
A joke? Possibly. Harmless? No.
Eh, no one is allowed to speak ill of the President anymore. Law enforcement of all branches are censoring the opposition. This could very well have been a joke, but no one cares and the Secret Service is going to question anything and everything regardless of what common sense dictates.
That’s not a joke at all. That’s serious.
Assassinate, no. Stand up against him, yes!
After all that was said about Bush? Oh, please! Harmless joke, in my opinion. And if he does get assassinated, oh well. He won’t be the first president to die in office. =/
Or maybe I’m sick of what the country is turning into (Socialism is the halfway house to Communism…) and am just harboring bitter and ill feelings toward our government.
Phooey.
I choose 2. :]
No
No, it’s not funny at all. @xplodinglastbullet - I believe it is illegal to threaten the President’s life in print, and I would think this qualifies if you answer yes to the poll.
This is not a joke, and not harmless. Too many people out there are emotionally disturbed and may somehow draw on things like this for some kind of weird inspiration. Political disagreement is fine in terms of discussion and debate, but never when it begins to come close to a threat against someone’s safety. We have the right to respectfully disagree with any elected offical, but no one has the right to break the law. In essence, no one was the right to do what is wrong!
How awful!!
@WakeUpLaughing - It’s not a threat, it’s simply an opinionated question. Now, had said person stated “I’m going to kill the President”, then yes, go ahead. Opinions are simply that. No need to take things out of context.
No. I am a champion for free speech, but certain things are by necessity exempt from free speech (like how you can’t get off without consequence for needlessly shouting “Fire” in a crowded building…). Death threats to a public figure are one of those exemptions.
The only thing that might save the originator of the poll is that he/she didn’t actually threaten, but asked. Still, ’tis a dangerous game they play.
What were the nutters at FB thinking?
@xplodinglastbullet - If anyone has the opinion that any president or former president should be assassinated they are pretty sick, if you want to know my opinion. I’d be looking into them too if I was the Secret Service. It is not something to be taken lightly and is not a joke.
lol.
I think it is inappropriate.. as is copying it here on xanga.
I’m surprised this is the first one I’ve heard of.
@WakeUpLaughing - If that’s what you think, but I would and have simply dismissed this as a bit of humor. It’s no different than when we tell someone, playingly, we’re going to beat them or kill them. Or maybe you think the President is something more important than the people, which if that’s the case, you are sorely mistaken and should seek to correct that. Either way, this looks like a play on the Health Care controversy and it’s not something to be taken seriously.
Kill that ni…ce man? Aw, come on.

Dear Dan,
I can’t believe you even put this on your blog. I know you like to stir things up, but….
The answer to your question is that the “joke”, or poll is NOT harmless. It’s traitorous.
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool
Sorry, but there really are certain things you ought not to joke about, and assassinating the President is one of them. No matter who the President is, no matter what his party…you just don’t do that.
@xplodinglastbullet - Sorry, my opinion is that you’re mistaken. It’s just plain not funny. Freedom of speech is one thing, but I think this crosses the line.
@baldmike2004 - amen
@WakeUpLaughing - I never said it was funny. I’m not the one that made the joke nor do I understand the humor behind it. But, if we were take every supposed death threat seriously, we’d all be paranoid like the CDC is over Swine Flu. I would be more worried if someone could pull it off to be honest. It’s simply not as easy as it was when Kennedy was taken down. But again, I see nothing inherently wrong with posting an opinionated question like this. Everything thinks what they want to and has the right to express theirself in anyway they choose. It’s only when they act that we should worry.
@WakeUpLaughing - Dear Laughing, You have a lock on your site so I can’t visit you. I invite you to READ THIS ENTRY I posted last week. Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher,fool
Oh facebook. you are ridiculous.
It might have been a joke, but not all jokes need to be said and/or acted on. This is in poor taste and dangerous.
I think that’s sick. I don’t like violence of any kind, so no, I don’t think he should be assassinated.
It’s a sick joke that’s out of line.
A joke..more likely. But a stupid one that is harmful.
i personally dont like obama…but murder isnt right
It’s not funny, it’s not harmless, but it is pretty stupid.
So are you still wanting to be investigated by the Secret Service?
The title of this post may get you in trouble, and it will go on your
permanent record, you know.
Not funny, even for us that aren’t fans. I do remember all the similar bumper stickers and tshirts joking about assassinating Bush or something equally as not funny, though. I’m sure at one time there was a poll discussing the same issue at one time or another.
No. I don’t. Some might think he ought to be shot because they think he is the Antichrist and needs to be killed. But that wouldn’t work anyway because the “third antichrist”, after Napoleon and Hitler, will survive a fatal head wound by rising from the dead afterword. Satan can’t do anything origional. The best the devil can do is counterfiet God.
Lame joke repeated all over again. FB starting to get far on their jokes lately..
Woah… Whether it’s a joke or not… Well… the problem is that even if it was meant as a joke some people might not see it as a joke/understand it’s a joke…
whether it was a joke or not it was wrong a completely unnecessary
If this had been about Bush, would anyone have cared?
Completely out of line. I don’t know that it’s illegal, as he didn’t say that he intends to. But, one would have to know that doing something like that in a poll is bound to attract some attention.
I’m absolutely no Obama fan. However, that is totally inappropriate.
wow, that’s pretty f**ked up. I can’t stand the guy, and do not support a thing he’s done/is doing, but there is no ‘joking’ around about assassinating him. that’s awful.
i think it’s meaningless. it’s a facebook poll. Gimme a break.
I’m all for vigilance and all that from the secret service and I DO think Obama has been targeted by lots of very real and scary threats, but some things just aren’t worth fretting about. This is one of them.
@normality_dreamer -
@weaponswired - agreed with both of you.
i can say that using the trip words that dan has used in this post has already triggered the system in langley.
Inappropriate.
xo
That’s a disgusting poll. I’m glad the Secret Service are investigating. I do worry about the President’s safety and I hope he gets through his presidency safely.
mmeh
The people of the U.S. need to quit trading freedom for safety.
I would have a difficult time dismissing that as a harmless joke.
I don’t find it very funny.
OMG NO!
you know what this is a stupid topic. of course he should not be assassinated. he should be prosecuted for falsifying legal document. and tried for treason for subverting the constitution.
He should TOTALLY be assassinated, oh why hello Mr. Secret Service dude, what are you doing here?
Really? Man, I haven’t even clicked submit yet. Just give a second dude and then you can be all man at me. Just don’t tazer me bro.
…That’s a pretty terrible joke…
I truly doubt that something like this is at all decreasing President Obama’s chances of having a vibrant and rejuvenating post-presidency. The internet does not use discretion when dealing with people in positions of high power. I think it’s reasonable to expect things like this. Does that mean they SHOULD be posted? Of course not, that’s silly. But it’s inevitable.
Personally, I don’t think so.
Say hi to the secret service for me, should they stop by your door.
LOL
Was it you? Since you like to ask questions. HAH
Yes, it is.
If it was Bush, however, nobody would bat an eye, because you people are all a bunch of goddamn hypocrites.
I believe the person who posted that poll was not serious.
I also believe that people should know better than to publically kid in any way about assassinating the president. Any president. It isn’t smart.
I wouldn’t call it a “joke” since it’s not funny, but I don’t think it’s serious even a little bit.
That’s not funny.
haha.
Not a laughing matter, assassination.
i think i saw that poll. looked like a joke, not a very funny one though.
Considering how many people have been assassinated in that Office that post is not the best
are people really that stupid? why am i even asking. apparently.
I can’t even count the times when I heard comedians say the very same thing. Before Obama was elected, and even after. Nobody seemed to care then. What’s the difference? Besides, the people who would do such a thing would just do it without needing a poll.
Just like any other president, there are going to be people who want him dead. To put a poll online probably started as a joke but there are probably a lot who would take it seriously.
I think it’s extremely inappropriate. If nobody laughs when they read it it’s not a joke, and I’m not laughing. Were they serious? more than likely no. Does that make it okay? absolutely not. That’s not something you joke about.
we should impeach him NOT kill him.
Not funny at all.
FUCK NO. This is horrid. he hasn’t even done anything wrong yet! WHY THE HELL WAS THIS NOT UP FOR GEORGE BUSH?
It’s not like they formed a facebook group saying “Let’s Go Kill the President!” It was a poll. For people’s OPINIONS. Goodness.
It’s obviously not serious but I guess that’s the job of the secret service… sigh.
Personally, I think he’ll get our country into a huge mess and I think that’s VERY bad, but he hasn’t done anything to merit assassination yet. I mean, what if tomorrow he suddenly changed his mind about everything and made the country perfect?
Dan, if zombie invaded you enjoy calling them out just to look at them wouldn’t you?
@josiebunny - yeah my thoughts exactly.
but really, he’s the president of the united states. he deserves our honor, if not our respect.
I think it’s a tasteless joke anytime you are joking about a human being and wether or not they should be killed. I would not laugh at it.
When certain musicians went Bush bashing , they received death threats; there was controversy. Maybe Obama doesn’t have die hard fans.
A dumb joke with bad timing. I’d like him out of office, but not by assasination.
@WakeUpLaughing - I agree 100%
It sounds like someone who’s frustrated. ♥
I think he should be removed from office, but not dead. That is my stance on that subject.
The person who made it probably thought it was harmless.
Why can’t we be civil about things? I’m pretty sure “Do you think Obama should be removed from office?” would have sufficed nicely. Ugh. Us and our aggressive tendencies!
not something to joke about. i don’t care for him but i would never wish him any harm, use the right channels, impeach him or, simply vote him out of office the next time around.
What were the poll results?
And fox news is calling it unspeakable etc, when they defended the assholes with the “it’s time to water the tree of liberty” signs bringing guns to obama events.
Fuck them.
@Losertastic - why do you say that? does that mean you think it would have been O K to assassinate george bush ?
@droptop11 - Nahh, but there was definitely more reason to post this question during his presidency then during Obama’s.
@weaponswired - you’re awesome!
@Losertastic - it really is a bad question.
No i def dont think it is a joke what so ever. last time i herd on the radio it was like 60% of people who voted ffor obama regret it. and to be honest there was a big disput over obamas body guards not really doing there job only acting like it so if someone wanted to they would let them get him. but please dont quote me it was a while ago a herd this on the RADIO lol so joke? i dought it!
@droptop11 - agreed!
i think the idiot is out of his fucking mind for asking that kinda retarded question.
While it may be a harmless joke, joking about killing a US president is not funny and I certainly can’t blame the secret service for looking into it. Having said that, anyone who would answer 3 in all seriousness and not as hyperbole are certainly not in the same vein as the overwhelming majority of those who oppose the healthcare bill. The death of the president would serve more to advance his cause than to stifle it. The only people who would genuinely be interested in seeing his death would be the shortsighted idiots and those looking to make a martyr out of him.
Technically under free speech we’re allowed to ask questions…no matter how badly others might view them. Now if they actually intended to assassinate the President…well, last I knew, murder was still a crime.
Of course, should they “disapear him” and lock him away forever without a trial, then I’ll still defend his right for habeas corpus and concede that perhaps his intentions were not ENTIRELY (mostly still and the actions of a crazy person yes)…in bad taste.
@SirNickDon - me too actually.
Are they fucking kidding?
@walden_thoreau - exactly. It is pretty sick and makes me wonder sometimes what’s wrong with people.
I remember coming across a lot of poll/quiz type things like that on MySpace or the like about killing Bush during the past eight years…this is the first one I’ve seen about Obama. I think it’s inappropriate. Likely just a bad joke.
not a joke
but harmless
yea,,, a harmless joke,,, hahahaha,, but some harmless jokes arent meant for mass saturation,,, better kept in smaller circles among those who appreciate them…
id probably say this would be one of those,,, anywhere on the internet wouldnt be a good place,,,
id think you would know this,,, and may just want to see what stupid comments would come of the question…. hahahahaha
“Jokes” like that are never funny nor harmless.
@Seen_More_Spine_in_Jellyfish - lololl thanks. :]
Since when did Xangans become so sensitive, by the way?
ANyone who makes that kind of a joke is sick in the head. Not even funny.
The person who posted that is an idiot.
this is NOT just a harmless joke, it’s illegal to even talk about killing the president, it just doesn’t get caught at all.
i do not like obama, but do i think he should be killed? absolutely not.
Sure why not?
The Secret Service is quite appropriately doing their job. Not funny at all. I’m sure it was meant as a harmless joke, but there are some very angry, unpredictable people out there who just might try to take the idea and run with it. When things are as hot as they are now, yeah – SS should be on it.
It’s no joke. The anger being stirred up is real. After someone takes a shot at him then what will they scream about? Complain about how vanilla Vice President Biden is? This anger and rage is not going to end well. What multiplies it is this inability of those who are clearly uneducated about the issues to admit and realize they are wrong…
There is a difference between being edgy and this Dan.
It’s not very funny…
@weaponswired - I agree with you when you said that how everyone used to make fun of bush but no one cared, but now all of sudden its a big deal to make fun of the current president. please ppl get over yourselves.
@walden_thoreau - How soon we forget that it wasn’t all that long ago that George Bush was smeared by the left with every kind of insult imaginable, including death threats.
On Air America, talk show host Randi Rhodes recommended doing to Bush
what Michael Corleone, in “The Godfather, Part II,” does to his
brother. “Like Fredo,” she said, “somebody ought to take him out
fishing and phuw!” — then imitated the sound of a gunshot.
In the Guardian, a leading British daily, columnist Charlie Brooker
issued a plea: “John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley
Jr. — where are you now that we need you?”
Then there was `Checkpoint,” a novel by Nicholson Baker in which two characters
discuss the wisdom of shooting the president. “I’m going to kill that
bastard,” one character fumes. Some Bush-hatred masquerades as art: At
Chicago’s Columbia College, a curated exhibit included a sheet of mock
postage stamps bearing the words “Patriot Act” and depicting President
Bush with a gun to his head. There are even Bush-assassination fashion
statements, such as the “KILL BUSH” T-shirts that were on offer last
year at CafePress, an online retailer.
Which brings us to “Death of a President,” a new movie about the assassination of George W. Bush.
Then let us not forget that creepy little worm of a Hollyweird “director” – Spike Lee who said that “somebody ought to shoot Charleton Heston (President of the NRA) in the head with a .44 Bulldog”. Nice huh?
So now you left-wing, liberal whack jobs are all freaked out and pretending to be all wide-eyed and innocent and totally appalled by a mere poll (which by the way, although distasteful, is totally legal and part of our protected Constitutional rights, there wasn’t any direct threat) which asks whether the president should be assassinated?
What goes around comes around eh? And you lefties ought to know!
How many federal buildings did Barack’s good buddy Williams Ayers the Weatherman terrorist blow up? How old was that little girl living in that house that he set on fire?
God damn America!
soyeahthatswhathappened shat out his mouth:
“this is NOT just a harmless joke, it’s illegal to even talk about killing the president, it just doesn’t get caught at all.i do not like obama, but do i think he should be killed? absolutely no”
======
Somebody call the cops!
Do you realize how ignorant that you are? If it’s illegal to “even talk about killing the president” then just what in the hell are YOU doing? Hello McFly? Anybody home??
One of the great things about living in a free country (it’s still free, although Obama is doing his best to CHANGE that) is the extent of our liberties such as freedom of speech. There isn’t anything illegal about having a discussion or merely talking about a president being killed. That is EXACTLY what we are all doing in this blog right now is it not? Are we all outlaws? Hardly.
And there isn’t anything illegal about conducting a poll on people’s OPINIONS. And if somebody clicked on the NO button, it’s not any worse than pushing on the YES one from a legal standpoint. There isn’t any implied or direct threat in such a poll. In administering it or in answering questions in one. Sure the federal goon squad will surely harass and attempt to destroy the ignorant (yes it was an ignorant thing to do in many ways) Facebook user’s life. And that aspect should be even MORE APPALLING than the stupid assassination question.
And I wonder just where most of all of your anger and resentment was when Bush was on the receiving end? Were all of you in here sounding off about this poll just as vocal in all the dirty rhetoric involving president George Bush? Did it bother you just as much. DOES IT BOTHER YOU JUST AS MUCH? It ought to! It bothers me! What the liberal nutz did to Bush and how they continue to smear the man, AND this stupid poll. No I don’t like Obama. But I don’t like ignorance either!
And no, I don’t support such polls, nor would I have even have taken one. I am comfortable expressing my opinions myself, I don’t need to click stupid YES, NO or I DON’T KNOW radio buttons…
Cheers!
Reality Bytz
If it was a joke, it wasn’t funny. The political fervor in this country is rather frightening. A Census worker murdered with the word “Fed” written on his body…. people carrying arms to political rallies… scapegoating immigrants for all our problems…. people who said “never question a president during time of war” are now anti-government…. we are at a boil.
there will be political bloodshed within the next 4 years if this keeps up. Whether it be another OK city type bombing, or riots in the cities. The rhetoric and the tone needs to come down a few notches.
Calling a President Hitler for the same thing that Reagan and Bush(41) did (sending a message to school children). Do people really think that the reason why Hitler was a bad man because of his health care policies?
@normality_dreamer - How terrible to wish any human something to befall them that would alter their life. You do know Joe Biden would replace him and it would be the same policy. Thank Goodness.
@jeanmarie26 - That doesn’t change how I feel about what’s going on.
@Reality_Bytz - Excuse me, but before you go judging, I thought Bush did very well in office for what he was faced with. And guess what? I didn’t vote for Obama.
There’s a difference between fiction, and asking people on a social networking site if the President should be killed.
Hey, If the left wing tree hugging baby killers would have post the same question about President Bush or Reagan they would have said whats the big deal? I’m saying its a question not an action
It is definetly tasteless.
@catman517 - Being one of those “left wing tree hugging baby killers” (Way to generalize BTW.) who disliked Bush about as much as most Republican’s dislike Barrack, I would like to say that no matter whose name is being mentioned it is tasteless and wrong. Clearly this was not put up as a joke and the person whoput it deserves some sort of punishment for being, if anything, stupid enough to post it.
It’s not funny, it’s a disgrace that people are actually thinking this!!!!!!!!
Joke.
But not quite harmless…
@normality_dreamer - WOW
@xplodinglastbullet - WOW That is really sad. Wonder if it was about your love one…
@weaponswired - Well, you can go to Russia, China, North Korea. You would love it there. This country is the best you can have.
@tau_1 - I don’t have to worry about it being about one of my loved ones because we don’t go sticking our noses where it doesn’t belong. Then again, if someone became that bored, I wouldn’t worry unless they “acted”. Everyone seems to forget that this guy hasn’t actually done anything illegal or traitorous. He spoke his mind in a rather awkward way. It’s his opinion. Honestly, no one seemed to complain when people were wanting Bush hung.
@normality_dreamer - @xplodinglastbullet - @LyricallyCharged -
God made man upright? What Happened? A good name is better than precious ointment. Ecclesiantes 7
Character building is the most important work ever intrusted to human beings; and never before was its diligent strudy so important as now. Never was nay previous generation called to meet issues so momentous: never before were young men and young women confronted by perils so great as confront us today.
True education does not ignore the value of knowledge or literary acquirements. but above information, it values power, above power, goodness, abouve intellectual acquirements, character.
The world does not so much need men of great intellect as of noble character. It needs men in whom ability is controlled by steadfast principle.
Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom.
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright. (proverbv 4:7 and 15:2).
True Education imparts this wisdom.
It teaches the best use not only of one but of all our powers and acquirements.
thus it covers the whole circle of obligation. To ourselves, to the world, and to god.
@tau_1 - So, basically, what your attempting to say is that we should act like the Morality Police and seek to convict anyone that acts out in a manner that we think is wrong? Even if it’s nothing more than faux opinion questionnaire that carries the “opinion” of the guy who created it? You quote Ecclesiastes thus I state, judge not lest ye be judge. Cast not the first stone lest ye be without sin.
Dan, you’re still keepin’ it real on Xanga. LOVE. IT.
@tau_1 - ?
Hopefully it is, but if it were then that person has a poor sense of humor.
@xplodinglastbullet - Thank you. I was about to reply to that guy, but I didn’t even have the patience to. You took the words right out of my mouth.
@sarahb_86 - Just say no to SOCIALISM…There is no such thing as Etopia. Just one more thought actually 2. Its ok to disagree..and the most important one……….I read the back of the book ..guess what I WIN.
@catman517 - Guessing you mean Utopia not “Etopia”. Your answer makes very little sense and in that you fail.
Yea people would think it’s funny.. but if it was them that was the president, and the joke was about them, then people wouldn’t be laughing at all…
@catman517 - That would be the same as saying no to Democracy. The war on Communism was, essentially, a war against Democracy. If you continue to believe the lies and propaganda of the political elite, you’ll continue to fail in every argument.
What the fuck? I mean did everyone just get retarded and forget how fucking HORRIBLE president Bush was? If there was ever a fucking guy that needed to be shot it was that motherfucker! Shit like this increasingly makes me lose faith in this stupid fucking country.
@xplodinglastbullet - I am not talking about what bush this and what bush that!! I just responding to your post and what your comments express.
@xplodinglastbullet - I really don’t think you read that in my post. Maybe you shouuld read your post again and what you stated.
Jesus used the metaphor of fruits to give us the proper criteria for judging.” by their fruits you will know them.” So if you are thinking I am judging, ok, I am judging by the quality of the fruit they produce. What fruit are you producing?
@tau_1 - I merely pointing out the fallacy of the argument. The only reason why people are making an uproar about it is because it’s Obama. Not because he’s the President.
@LyricallyCharged - Sorry about putting your post in this.
@tau_1 - But you have no clue what this guy was trying to do. Your simply assuming that he had ill intentions. You don’t have all of the facts, no one does, except for the guy that posted the poll and the secret service who have probably raped his dorm room or apartment looking for weapons of mass destruction.
And this is not about me or my merits. Let us leave those for another discussion.
If it’s true, he’s a lowsy assassin. It seems kinda dumb to announce on Facebook that you may kill the president.
It’s certainly in bad taste, and it should be properly investigated. But that won’t change the fact that Fox News will soon be ranting and raving about how “a harmless little Facebook poll is the first evidence that Obama wants to put us in a police state!!!”
Of course, there were some pretty nasty things being said when G.W. Bush was president, too. In fact, good ‘ole Dubya had three assassination attempts during his 8 year term.
The only way he’d be in real danger is if he tried to repeal the federal reserve act and give money minting back to congress or seriously tried to end American combat operations. The average person is better than that.
No
@X_naomi_X - yep
There have already been loads of threats, and probably even some attempts. It happens to every president.
Oh hey, guess we don’t have freedom of speech anymore.
Do I think it’s inappropriate and wrong despite my complete distaste for President Obama? Yes.
Do I think we should defend this person’s right to say it? Yes. It doesn’t seem like a legitimate threat. Just a distasteful poll.
@cheesebadger - You don’t like it I’ll help you pack you stuff and I’ll even pay for your ticket to get the heck out of here. I would like if you would move to Iran, or Iraq and then I can’t wait to here all the scumbags like you begging to come back. Bush made some mistakes but he was better then this low life socialist we have now. I would even support bring back Bill Clinton.
@sarahb_86 - My first thought was its ok to disagree but that dosn’t to go very well with you.
My second thought was I read the back of the book and I win. If you can’t comprehend that. Maybe somebody can help you out. Oh and by the way loosen your top on your belly dancing outfit its cutting off the blood supply to your brain.
Yeah. Not to say it’s okay or right or supportable. But just to say the stupidity of it shows how immature this person is. So yeah, it’s probably harmless.
@catman517 - Again, complete gibberish. I can comprehend what you are saying it just simply has nothing to do with what we were talking about. Seems like you might need a bt of help with replying with correct responses. For one you brought up socialism, telling me to say no to it, which I never once said anything about. Seeing as how you disagree with the idea let me pose this question to you: Do you support or accept firefighting, police, military and schooling? Every single one of these runs the same exact way that the healthcare plan would work, in that it is run by the government. So it an be assumed that if you are against the idea of socilizing medicine, than you are against these things as well.
Secondly, disagreeing doesn’t go well with me? Pray tell, how did you come to this conclusion?
Oh and by the way, my dance top, and costumes happen to fit me just fine thank you, but thanks for the concern.
@catman517 - You know what? You’re right.
MAN I LOVE MYSELF SOME ICE CREAM SANDWICHES.
Yes, it’s a harmless joke. But I would never post such a thing myself or participate in any such poll.
3.
I was surprised when I read everyone’s comments. My immediate visceral reaction was “harmless joke!” I don’t think something like that quiz was meant to be taken seriously. At the same time, I suppose the SS are obligated to investigate such “threats.” Though I think this was a joke, it was 100% tasteless.
@weaponswired - ”And if he does get assassinated, oh well. He won’t be the first president to die in office. =/”
Wow. As much as I didn’t care for Bush’s policies, I can’t imagine being this callous about his life or the life of any other President. Pretty messed up.
@catman517 - Sorry, no. It is messed up, no matter who the President is. Try transcending your partisan allegiances for two seconds, it might do you some good.
@chaospet - Why care? I don’t know him personally. I don’t care for him. Also, when another socialist (Or should I say communist?) scumbag comes into office after his assassination, which won’t happen, it’ll be more of the same bullshit. The only thing that will change is the jerk/puppet/whatever as President dishing the, well, bs. Callous about his life? The man has no morals, and I doubt a soul. I have reasons for saying that, but those are probably better left for another comment on a similar topic. And I doubt you’d be interested in the thoughts and opinions of somebody who’s “messed up.” =)
@catman517 - Awesome.
@weaponswired - If you think he’s anything like a socialist (or a communist), then you need to do more reading. And if you think being a socialist or a communist means your life isn’t worth caring about, then yeah, you’re effed in the head.
@chaospet - Yeah, because I wouldn’t bother with research before thinking of someone as a socialist. :] You make it seem as though I said, “Yes, assassinate Obama.” I said no such thing. My answer to the poll (maybe) was a joke. Guess I can’t vote now. :[ Aw, shucks! My point was that I don’t see why people are making such a big deal out of a Facebook poll. There was not even an option for “Yes”. The whole thing is a joke! Seriously, “Yes if he cuts my health care”?? Why hype up the situation so much? As for not caring about his life, oh well, that’s just honesty. It’s not because he’s a socialist he should die — I, once again, said nothing like that. I don’t think he should be assassinated, but rather, I just wouldn’t care much if it happened. Maybe I am a teensy bit screwed up. Thank goodness you don’t know what I thought about Michael Jackson’s death and people’s reactions toward it, I guess? :/
@weaponswired - It’s only in America that a timid centrist like Obama could be labeled a socialist. He is to the right of most conservatives in the rest of the Western world, but because the likes of Fox News labels him a socialist/communist, half of America believes it.
Also, I wasn’t responding to your opinion about the poll, so that is a complete red herring. I don’t care about the poll – what is unconscionable is the callousness you expressed about the possibility of the President actually being assassinated. I think we should care whether the President of our nation gets assassinated, whether we agree with his policies or not. But I guess that’s just me…
@chaospet - He’s a puppet. What life has he to care about? But anyway, I’m not going to lie about caring whether or not he gets assassinated. I can’t change my feelings (or lack of feelings) about his death, which probably won’t be anytime soon anyway.
@weaponswired - Whether you can help it or not, you are the model of partisan politics in this nation taken to its most absurd possible extreme.
@chaospet - Please elaborate on how, exactly, I am a partisan. ;/ I fail to see it. I’m curious as to why you think that of me after only commenting on how I don’t care about the life or death of the President.
That’s terrible. Assination, murder, sucide – all these things should not be joked about. This isn’t harmless, it’s things like this that make people commit assinations.
