  • Woman Had 15 Abortions Over 17 Years

A woman has written a book about having 15 abortions in a 17 year period.

    irene

She said that the abortions were a way of “rebelling against her ‘controlling’ husband.”  She described herself as an “abortion addict.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you support a woman’s right to have an abortion over and over and over and over again?

  • No, that’s sick.

  • Wow that poor woman. Abortion is surgery it is very hard on a woman’s body. I can’t see how anyone would think that is a good thing.

  • That gives me such a big boner

  • that’s kinda gross.   however, i doubt there are enough people like her for it to warrant a law change

  • that’s disgusting.

  • What about those 15 babies right to live?

  • Ummm…I’m pro-choice, and will support a woman’s right to control her body including to an extreme level, but in my opinion, that’s just sick.

  • no, that isn’t right.

even just one can really fuck someone up physically and mentally. I dont know how she did it

  • Too bad I’m not a control freak myself. Otherwise, I’d leave my fiancee and marry her.

  • I think that it’s really pretty obvious that she has some other mental issues at play, here. As another person commented, abortion is surgery. It shouldn’t be taken lightly. I think that maybe her physician should have stepped in and suggested she try a form of long-term contraception, such as an IUD. It seems that for someone to desire abortions over and over, she must have some mental illness. I hope that her physician would have referred her to get some treatment for her mental health problems. To have written a book about it, though, seems tasteless and perhaps just a ploy for attention.

  • @echois23 - Same, I don’t see how someone could be “addicted” to abortions. “Controlling husband”? There’s probably some psychological damage there, but I don’t think there should be a law against how many abortions a woman has. Normally, that’s a private issue.

  • Yep. It’s the woman’s body. She gets to do what she wants.

  • Sh’e f@wken crazy!  I don’t have any children [nor have I ever been prego], but I couldn’t imagine having THAT many abortions.  Why doesn’t she use contraceptives if she doesn’t want any children?

  • I hear them abortion withdrawals are ROUGH.

  • Whatever floats her boat. It’s her right to do what she wants with her body. She should have just gone onto birth control, though.

  • it’s her body, her right. period.

  • I’m pro-choice, but that level of excess is absurd and, frankly, kind of disgusting. Abortions should only be a last resort; they shouldn’t be used as an alternative form of birth control and definitely shouldn’t be used simply as a means of rebellion. Fuck, go get a tattoo or pierce something.

  • Yes. Rights don’t get taken away just because you exercise that right often.

  • O.o …NO NO NONONONONONONO OMG NO!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MARYBLOGS - yeah and it lasts 18 yrs…

  • Thats pretty sick. I completely support a womans right to abortion but I feel that if you do it continuously that it becomes almost ridiculous. But even then, I dont believe there should be a law put to limit how many abortions a woman can have.

  • If it’s wrong to have fifteen abortions, then it’s wrong to have one.

If it’s okay to have one abortion, then it’s okay to have fifteen.

    We must be consistent.

  • That’s so wrong. I’m totally pro-choice, but that’s just a blatant disregard for human life. She’d take no action to NOT get pregnant, and just keep getting pregnant to have more abortions…it’s psychotic.

  • I support women having the choice of abortions. However that’s crazy. The doctors should’ve given her birth control or something after the third abortion, and she and her husband should’ve gotten marriage counseling if she felt the need to go to such extremes.

  • I fully support a women’s right to have an abortion unless that abortion envoles me. I had a girl friend one time, many years ago I got pregnant twice. She had an abortion both times agenst my will. But having 15 of them in 17 years, my god that just seems so very very wrong.

  • I really don’t have an opinion but it is sick to want to do it over and over and over again in that way. That person seems to have a problem. She is doing damage to herself alongside it all too.

  • im pro choice..
    but really. Thats just wrong

  • No way. Psychosis, much It would’ve been cheaper, easier, and simpler to just get herself fixed. Something which I think should be mandated at this point. At the least.

  • Sick.

  • wow what a cunt.

  • I fully believe this woman has/had some sort of mental problem.

And though I personally find the idea pretty revolting, I agree with the above commenters – if one is legal, fifteen are legal.

  • That is just madness.

  • Mass murderer or serial killer, I’m not sure which is the correct term here.

  • She should probably be institutionalized.

  • Beats her having 15 kids.

  • oh my God.

i support freedom of choice but this makes me a little sick to my stomach.

  • Hey, it’s population control at its best.

  • I’m against abortion, but even if I wasn’t, I’d still find that ridiculous. Seriously, contraception? And if she really hates her husband that much she can just leave him.

Not that I like divorce either, but when you’re weighting divorce and the murder of innocent children, I’m pretty sure divorce is the way to go.

  • News flash……there are other forms of birth control!  Good grief!

  • To say that 15 abortions is bad is to say that one abortion is bad. If it is acceptable enough that the first fetus is part of the woman and not yet a person, then they all were. Getting 15 abortions is stupid, incredibly hard on your body and undoubtedly physically and emotionally damaging, but I don’t think there is any justification for making 15 illegal when 1 is not.

    $0.02

  • She needs psychiatric help but first a divorce from her husband. What a sick person.

  • No.  Abortion isn’t meant to be used as a birth control method.  It should only be used in emergencies or if you can’t support a child.  That’s abuse of a privileged.

  • That’s so fucked up.

An abortion is supposed to me a last resort- not a childish way of rebelling against your spouse and getting attention. And, even though I know there are many people who are addicted to having surgery, that is something I don’t think I am able to understand.

  • no ._.’ isn’t she abusing her rights and freedoms? that’s not the way to “rebeL” against your controlling husband. if you want to rebel , do it some other way.

  • No. Abortion is murder.

  • @nudged - MADNESS?
    THIS
    IS
    SPARTA!
…where fetuses are aborted for fun.

really though… this woman needs to leave her husband or develop a new fetish.

  • I don’t believe in abortions =/

  • Yes, I do think she should have that right. I’m not saying it’s morally right… in fact it’s morally disgusting. But should it be her choice? Yes.

  • I’m pro choice, but this lady should have been forced to go through psychoanalysis and therapy after her third abortion.

  • Wow… I don’t know who would think that is ok.  I think there is more going on than just a controlling husband.

  • Oh, there must be choices! How about divorcing her “controlling” husband? How about using birth control? It can be done w/o husband knowing. Or going further, getting surgery on tubes. What about getting professional help for this so-called “abortion addiction.” Aaaaaarrrrggggghhhh!

I am a Christian, but I am not totally anti-abortion. I believe there are some cases where abortion is a very painful decision in a choice between two evils. I wouldn’t recommend anyone have an abortion if there were any way to avoid.

The woman is psycho! Somebody should have intervened.

  • Personal choice.

  • She looks like that lady from Who’s The Boss.

  • wow.
her body must be… screw up.

  • sometimes when someone is doing that, professionals should provide extra care for them..offer them therapy, etc. no one would really want to go through all that.

  • If your going to let them do it once… the why not over and over… it sounds like she has a serious mental illness though…

  • I think that abortions should either be considered wrong or right, it doesn’t seem to matter how many she’s had.
But if she has issues with her husband, putting that kind of pressure on her body, and also her mind, seems the wrong way to go about it

  • @frozencherries - Why is it disregard of human life?

  • I’m with several people on here who says she has mental issues. A “controlling husband” is no excuse to have 15 abortions in 17 years. If he’s that damn controlling, then just LEAVE. Abortion is surgery, and has lasting physical effects, not to mention the psychological damage. Most women who get abortions don’t want to go through that experience again. The fact that she has that little regard for human life is appalling. I can’t imagine what she would have done if even one of those babies had carried to term and survived. If she is willing to have multiple abortions because of a “controlling husband” what would she have been willing to do to a living child because of that same “controlling husband”?

  • I’m prochoice, but this is just ridiculous.  There’s absolutely no excuse for that.

  • I support her forced sterilization…

  • That’s disgusting.

  • If I support it once then I support it twice.  If I support it twice, then three times is okay.  And so forth.  It honestly doesn’t bother me or disgust me that she’s had 15 abortions in 17 years.

  • no. that’s horrible. come on, 15 times.. wow…

  • It’s her body and the lives of 15 babies.  No she should not have the right to have had the first one.

  • WTF?  No!! That’s not what abortion is for!!!!!!!!!!!!  Like a one time mistake is what it’s for, or for saving someone’s life, but god, not for birth control!!!!

  • that’s fucked up.

  • She says that legalized abortion saved her, but I can’t help wondering if it actually enabled her sickness.

  • It’s her body.

  • @chayswag - thats just sick

  • @frozencherries - I totally agree with you here… I feel that it is acceptable to have one abortion when your life is in danger, rape/incest, or if you’ve somehow been screwed over when you were trying not to be pregnant (shit happens) and you can’t support the child.  But honestly, many abortions is ridiculous and excessive.  After 2 this woman should have received stiff psychiatric help, and then probably be institutionalized.

I don’t get the hell people are saying if 1 is okay, 15 are okay.  It’s her right, sure, but most of us pro-choicers are there for the wellbeing of the mother, not just because she’s rebelling or doing it on some whim!!!

  • hell no.
    that’s beyond sick.
she should get stoned due to people rebelling to her disgusting acts of “rebellion against her husband”
and by stoned i do not mean high, i mean old school throw rocks at her.

  • @randomneuralfirings - in that case, let’s close all liquor stores immediatey.

  • she’s CRAZY* – wtf abortion addict* – what has the world come to ?

  • anyone who thinks thats ok has issues. I think she’s just a murderer. i’m pro-life but I understand why some women have abortions but in this case its just plain murder. She’s just doing for the sake of doing it.

  • THIS EFFING STORY AT THE TOP OF MY UNIVERSAL INBOX AGAIN!?!?

  • I do support abortions…but not like that. That’s extreme :-/

  • @SliverLines - I like you good answer

  • It’s her choice and no there shouldn’t be laws against it.

  • Not that many times, no.

  • I don’t think having one abortion is right.  As for having 15?  That sounds like a rough way to live.

  • I support the woman’s right to have an abortion over and over and over again for the same reason I support a woman’s right to be racist.  It’s none of her government’s business what anyone does in their private life.

  • *shakes head* I have no comment other than I luv you Dan

  • Absolutely NOT! There is no excuse for this behavior. Close your damn legs! Get  shot. Take a pill. Wear a patch. There is no excuse for this. None.

  • aborting as a way of “rebellion” is sickening. if she wants to rebel against her husband, she can divorce him.

  • I heard about something like this about a month ago… gross. Wear Trojans next time, mkay? Kthxbai.

    beatcancer.org

  • after seeing your post, it reminded of some guro manga I’ve read

    http://pics.livejournal.com/kc_anathema/gallery/000847zw

    nsfw

  • @BeKa28 - because I believe the point of abortions are to correct an ACCIDENT. she wasn’t accidentally becoming pregnant. she was using her fetuses to act out in a sick and twisted way. abortions aren’t to make statements or to rebel, they’re available to women who have made an unfortunate mistake.

  • She is a mass murder.

  • @agnophilo - You are just as abhorent as she is.

  • short answer – no.

long answer – I may be pro-choice, but I still think that the ONLY reason an abortion should happen is 1 – to save the life of the mother 2 – in case of rape or incest or 3 – that the child would be brought into a really bad situation (drugs, serious genetic issues, alcohol, abject poverty)

Sounds like this woman either needed to 1 – use female birth control or 2 – during one of those surgeries, have her tubes tied.

or better yet – 3 – get a divorce, if he’s such a controlling ass

  • I don’t like her.

  • What doctor(s) is allowing her to have 15 abortions? Don’t they start to intervene after a certain point?

  • Is that her actual picture? That would be pretty dubious if it wasn’t, haha.

  • She has a mental illness………..someone should have stopped her or interviened before she had that many.I don’t think its right if she’s making money of off it now tho.None of that story is right, but that makes it worse.

  • how can someone like abortions?
    that’s fucked up.
wouldn’t it have been much easier to get her tubes tied?

  • It’s called BIRTH CONTROL!!!

  • to me it seems bizarre that she is talking about it publicly.  perhaps i should read it before saying that, but it is the first thought that comes to mind.  but in my opinion legally she accounts for one person and that is certainly not enough to warrant a legal response. and morally she should speak with her close family or friends to her own choice rather than making herself a media spectacle.

  • @Smichy420 - shouldn’t you be in prison?

  • This sounds so cruel, but maybe she should just stop having sex…

I’m not an huge activist or anything, but enough is enough already.

  • @RdKingClassic03 - No, you just can’t grasp the difference between supporting the right and supporting the act.  He asked if I support the legal right, not if I support the act.

  • it’s hurting her more than anything else. her health is at risk and she needs help, but I stand by being pro-choice.

  • one abortion is already one too many even though i do believe a woman has the right to do it. i read the article and if she was rebelling against her husband “who did want children” then she shouldve just told him to wear the damn condom or she can simply close her legs.

  • That’s definitely not the right way to rebel against a husband.
    SICKO, that’s what she is.
I don’t agree with josiebunny because it’s not the author’s “boat” to float to begin with. It’s the children’s that once were in her tummy.

  • this is sick. those were 15 innocent lives.
how can she not feel any guilt??
it seems like shes rather proud of her rebellious manner.

  • If 17 abortions is wrong, that implies that one abortion is wrong. So long as it wasn’t funded by taxes, what is it to you?

The abortion isn’t the real issue here, it’s merely a mechanism. Perhaps more focus should be brought on her apparently abusive relationship and the results of it.

  • Yes. It’s her ruby to choose. Who am I to tell her what she can or cannot do with her body?

  • @agnophilo - I do not believe it is a legal right, and I believe it will be overturned.

  • Not at all. That sounds really immature. Just get a divorce?

I would only think of an abortion if I really couldn’t bring up the baby, like if I was really young, (I wouldn’t even have unsafe sex, but rape is always a possibility) but even then, I could put it up for adoption. If the baby’s birth could put the mother at risk, I can understand people aborting, but even then, I don’t think I could.

Life throws stuff at you, and you just have to deal.

There really is virtually no valid reason, in my eyes, for doing it. Least of all doing it for (what appears to be) fun.

  • What an eediot.

  • She is sick, that is digusting. Makes me feel ill.

  • I’m from canada, and i think its great that abortion is legal here, it gives women the option, I think it’s entirely up to the woman and they shouldn’t be judged…

but THIS woman.. ugh…….. I mean, she did it on purpose, to rebel her controlling husband? That is a sickness. She needs to get help. But kudos to her for coming out and sharing her story. There should be a limit of how many abortions a woman can have.

  • Crystal clear that she’s very sick and should get help.

  • Yes, I support that right.  Interesting that she later had a couple of children (sounds that way) – having that many surgeries can’t be good.  On the other hand, abortion is birth control, and if you compare it to taking the pill for 35 years, it might be the lesser evil to the body.

  • Apparently, abortion is the new birth control.

  • I have never supported mass murder.

  • Very sad.  A complete lack of reguard for life. Leave you’re husband and stop killing babies.

  • that is just an abuse of the right to choose your own life.
Abortions are meant to make your life better in case you can’t provide a good life for your child or something went wrong with birth control or something. It’s not meant to give you a sense of power.

  • @RdKingClassic03 - Well for the time being it is a legal right.  And I doubt very much it will be overturned, because if republicans managed to do it young women would come out to vote in droves and they’d never win another election.

  • @MangoWOW - almost ridiculous? How about it is ridiculous?

  • I’m pro-choice, but even I have my limits. Isn’t there a limit to how many abortions your body can handle, without your reproductive organs being mangled or damaged? What about birth control, or adoption?

  • No. Which is why it should be illegal. Wonder how she’d feel if we killed her 15 times.

  • IF YOU CANNOT DEAL WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF HAVING CHILDREN, THEN EITHER CHOOSE ABSTINENCE OR GET YOUR ASS ON THE PILL!

THE FACT THAT THAT WOMAN ABORTED 15 KIDS, IS UTTERLY DISGUSTING AND SHE MAKES ME SICK!

SHE HAS NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE AND I CAN’T STAND IT!

  • I used to be Pro-life because it just doesn’t make sense how people can kill a potential baby from a mistake that they made. The last girl that I had sex with threw the “I think I’m pregnant” shit at me, and really did change me. When she said that she was going to abort the child if she was pregnant, I didn’t care how much it costs, all I cared about was I didn’t want to become a father. She’s not pregnant, thank God, but I turned into someone who is Pro-Choice, in a sense. I’m not exactly Pro-Choice because if I DID actually get her pregnant and she decided to keep the baby despite the fact that her and I don’t have the finances to support a child, and the fact that her mom would throw her out in the streets if she was pregnant, let alone ruin both our lives, then I’d want to have a choice in that too. Women who have babies to get child support from the father is fucked up.

With that being said, although I think it should generally be the woman’s choice, having abortions over and over again is plain out disgusting and retarded. If you don’t like your husband, then get a divorce. No need to drag innocent potential babies into your mess because your inability to make smart choices.

  • yes i do. i don’t necessarily agree with her decisions, but i support her right to make them. and lady needs a frickin divorce already.

  • im very liberal. some would even call me a radical feminist. i have no problem with women getting abortions, although i dont think i would ever get one myself unless it was in an emergency. the thing is, 15 abortions in 17 years is very extreme. and if she hadnt gotten abortions, think of how many children she would have. i know its her body, but either way, its kinda nuts

  • @nodiadau - soon ,yes, thank you for the reminder. im going through trial

  • The logical side of me must agree that if a woman has a right to abortion, she can abort as many times as she wants. We can’t really limit women to x number of abortions without messing with her rights.

On the other hand though, at this point, I think she’d probably just be better off to divorce or get her tubes tied…

  • This is just disgusting. :S

  • I don’t support abortion for ANY reason aside from proof that a pregnancy will result in death of the mother and baby. I think good people are capable of making bad decisions so I don’t form my opinion of someone based on a past abortion BUT, I’d never pretend to think they had any right to do so. I have no idea how society got to the point where killing an unborn baby was any less horrid they killing one who has exited the womb. Not something I’ll ever argue either. Thinking about the specifics of abortion is like discussing senseless murder of a child to me… because it is. Pretty sick that author killed babies as a form of mind games with a spouse.

  • That’s disgusting, and she needs counseling.

  • That’s disgusting. Whether I approve of abortions or not, that is crossing the line. Termination of a baby to “rebel” is utter bullshit. *mutters about the sperm that should have been swallowed…* I sorta wish I didn’t read this now. I’m so angry. :[

  • It´s sick. And has nothing to do with whatever it´s her body or not. It´s sock. Period. Like people who keep cutting and hurting themselves, so just watch and let them be, it´s their body?!?!?!

  • @Smichy420 - how’s your AIDS?

  • Technically, if you don’t think the fetus or zygote, or whatever stage its in, is actual living human being, then it really doesn’t matter how many time she’s had an abortion.  Its just a form of surgery.  And in this day and age of modern medicine and plastic surgery, it doesn’t make it sick.

  • Good thing she ended up divorcing him, although she should have done so sooner instead of after 11 years of being “controlled” (although that’s unfair of me to say since I don’t know her whole story).

It’s sad that she had to go through all that, she must have had a pretty effed up life with her former husband…

  • @nodiadau - I cant tell if youre being a jerk or not. So I’m just going to answer you by saying that i have not been doing too well and I’ve been very sick.

  • On a second thought, this looks like a FOX news article.  And if its coming from FOX new, it was probably created to support pro-life, deranged fundamentalists.  Is this even real?  Man, Xanga fucking sucks.

  • I support a woman’s right to have an abortion. As many as she feels she needs. However, I do draw the line. Whether or not this woman felt that she needed an abortion is irrelevant, to me, because she was using it, essentially, as birth control to rebel against a husband she did not like. You don’t abort a baby simply because you do not like your husband’s attitude and want to rebel against him. That’s the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard.

Not to mention that while having abortions can be safe, it can also cause trouble for your body. Just like having too many children, having too many abortions comes with its own health risks.

I do not support abortion the way this woman used it.

  • At some point I feel that the doctors need to step in and say that they will not perform the abortions and send to her to a specialist for psychological evaluation.

  • Personally, I think it’s sad.  A genuine tragedy on a number of levels.  I think it is sad that those 15 lives were taken and for what?  For something as simple as “an act of rebellion”?  But furthermore, I think it’s sad that the woman who went through it is a public spectacle and the object of so much scorn.  Not that some is not deserved, in particular, if she put herself in the spotlight… but I can only imagine how shattered she must feel inside… how hollow the internal void must be… and yet how numb.

  • There’s so much I want to say here. Bottom line, I am just outright damn disgusted. Yes, it is her body. And whatever she wants to do is fine with her. But having such a procedure done over and over and calling it rebellion? Sounds like more of a health risk than anything else. Sounds like psychological damage to me. Aren’t mothers who do this affected (effected? UGH…so bad with that word.) by it afterward? How could she do that and then have the nerve to write about it? Rebellion would be taking birth control and not telling him about it. Or how about being a grown up and actually facing the controlling husband? Leave him and move on. My God….

  • Dude. If she doesn’t want kids, she should get her tubes tied or have a hysterectomy. Having 15 abortions is just sick.

  • Jesus christ. I’m pro choice but… oh my god. Chill girl. That’s flat out disgusting.

  • She is sick, people have their reasons for doing about 1. But 15 your just a real murderer if you ask me.

  • I wonder how many people actually clicked on the link? Because it sort of seems like they just saw that she had that many abortions…

Anyway. I’m pro-choice and I do agree with the person who said that we should be consistent with what we support. Then again, I don’t really consider a clump of cells a human life. It has the potential, that it certainly does. But it’s not quite there yet. But that’s just my opinion. As for having a baby and putting it up for adoption… think about it. How would that child feel, knowing that their biological mother never wanted it?

On the flip side, I do see where people are coming from. 15 abortions in 17 years is… a lot. Getting pregnant 15 times is… a lot. And while I do think she has every right to have all those abortions… 15 is a bit much and the impact on her body… her ex-husband’s not worth that.

From what I understand, her ex-husband was controlling and didn’t want children, because he thought that children ruined sex drive. So it seems that it wasn’t the abortions, but rather the getting pregnant part that was the main bit of rebellion. Because her husband didn’t want her to get pregnant…

Personally, I think refusing to have sex with her husband would perhaps have been a better way of “rebelling” because from my understanding, that was the reason why her husband didn’t want children; it was the sex. Although really, she should have just left him. Although that might not have come easy, depending on how “controlling” he was.

But that’s just my opinion of things…
