10 Year Old Tasered
A 10-year-old girl was tasered by a police officer after being “combative” with the police officer. The police were called to the home by the girl’s mother.
The girl was crying on the floor and the mother told the police officer to use his taser gun. The police officer tried to carry her and she started to kick. She kicked the police officer in the groin. Here is the link: Link
Is 10-years-old too young to be shot with a taser gun?

I’d have to say yes.
Only if he screamed “Don’t tase me, bro!” right before he got tased. Otherwise, probably too young.
I was first to comment. I feel special now.
Yes. And the mother was a participant in the abuse. There are ways to restrain the kid without doing that sort of thing.
Wasn’t there an 80-year-old grandma tasered on tape? Cops are given these items and told, “there’s no harm done by them” so some of them cut loose.
are you kidding me? the woman called the police because the kid was crying?
people like that shouldn’t be parents. idiot.
That’s horrible.
Especially with the recent news of that guy dying in the airport from being tasered.
I miss the days when parents would spank the kids themselves to get a point across, we’re so high tech now though.
there are other ways to control a child….
slap her.
for sure.
Those are some sad cops if they can’t restrain the girl without tasering
Wow. That’s just… really dumb.
Is 10 years old too young to know not to fuck with an officer?
A tase shouldn’t have been the answer though.
This makes me want to beat people. It’s called a tantrum, and a mother should prepare to deal with it without relying on the police to discipline her brat. And was the kid really that much of a threat to the officer that he couldn’t control her without the taser? God, how pathetic.
This is why you should be allowed to beat your children, so you don’t have to call the police to have them tasered.
I really can’t believe that even happened! Ridiculous. CPS please?
yea, 10 years old probably not the best idea ever to use a taser. They aren’t really designed for a body that small and that could do some serious harm to her.
If I had a 10 year old, I’d taser them everyday.
@noree_n - LOL
Wow, that’s pretty ridiculous.
…they couldn’t handle a 10 year old girl?
Was the girl taken into foster care or something? Where did the officer take her? That was a very strange article.
HAHAHA. TASER HER ASS
Wait, what the hell were the cops called for? Why did the cop say she was going to jail? What is going on in Arkansas?
That is wrong on so many levels.
Good lord. I always said tasers were a bad idea, and this just confirms that.
YES!
@mathematicalbagpiper - same.
A mother who has to call the police to control her screaming child…hmm…probably shouldn’t be a parent. That’s a whole different issue though…
10 years old is ridiculously young to be tasered… If I’m correct, the taser guns officers have are much stronger than the ones available to the public, and even those pack a decent punch. Even with the mother’s permission…which gives a little detail as to her parenting…I don’t think it was a good move. Poor child…
Absolutely.
WOAH MAN. there are other ways to control a child!
Okay, first, yes I think ten is too young to be tasered. However, I witnessed an incident a few years back where it took four adult men to remove one eight year old boy from a classroom. Still wrong on many levels, but I have seen some out of control kids in my day.
Those officers should be fired & charged with child abuse. WTF?! Lately police in general abuse & misuse tasered. They should be banned.
When my son is 10, I plan on owning a taser so I won’t even have to call the cops.
(I’ll probably go to jail for this bit of sarcasm).
Well, first of all, the mother should not be a parent if she called the police because her daughter wouldn’t listen. Obviously, she needs serious help on how to be a mother. And what kind of a cop tells a girl she’s going to jail? For all he knows, she was being abused! There’s problems in that home that need attention, and that cop should be fired. Obviously a child doesn’t act that way unless there’s something really wrong.
Too young and the fact that the parent thought to call the police is just…..lol idiotic. Why does she even have a kid.
that cop is a bitch. i bet he doesn’t even have a pair.
And this is why we need poop on a stick!
But seriously, this is completely ridiculous.
I’ll tell you one thing though… I bet that kid will think twice next time!
Isn’t that child abuse?
Sounds like an obnoxious kid, but a taser is a bit much. And what kind of idiot mom would tell a police officer to taser her 10-year-old?
Whatever.
Its just a tazer.
@ShimmerBodyCream - i hope you get raped by a taser gun.
@nodiadau - o bby. behave
OMG. Since when is it okay to treat a 10 year old like a hardened criminal?
a 10 year old a few days ago murdered his father and then confessed to blowing him away on the 911 call. Parents have a rough time these days but a reflection of some of their parenting is that they are not parenting but rather acting as zookeepers. In this case the mother ASKED the cop to taser her own child. So what the hell are people pissed at the cop for? She is the legal guardian. I think you should reverse the question here: Put yourself in the cops shoes. How many times should he be kicked in the balls before he should act?
We only hear about these episodes when they have a bad aftermath. Maybe I’m looking for controversy but perhaps the cop could have reasonably feared this girl after kicking him multiple times in the nuts could have maybe reached for his service revolver. If we want law enforcement to show up and help defend us when we really need them to then you have to do two things:
1. You have to believe that the cops in question when wearing the uniform are trying to honestly do what they feel is best to bring order to a situation. That is there job.
2. When the cops do show up then the time for bullshit and shenanigans is over. If you want to run from a police officer who is trying to do his job…then you need to be tasered. Period. I don’t want to hear if and or buts…you run from the color of authority then you get tasered. I say this being a guy who leans VERY libertarian. When a police officer is giving you instructions he is not there to hear himself talk. If you feel he is out of line you take his ID and take the issue up with his chain of command. That is why he has one.
The parent said her child was out of control and asked the cop to taser her. The cop tried not to but after this animal (not child…animal) acted up then end of discussion its taser time. End of issue…
uhm i think the fact that the mother TOLD HIM to taser her… should count as child abuse.
I’d have to say yes as well….seriously a grown man couldn’t handle a 10 year old girl????
I wonder if the day will ever come when the American Psychiatric Association recommends tasering for kids with ADD (attention deficit disorder).
HAHAHA!!!
There’s one little girl who will never go to the cops if she gets raped :-p
Maybe they should take tasers away from the police and stick to them having guns. Then they would be more careful about using excessive force.
Seriously, some people need a good psych evaluation before they become police officers.
1st off, it baffles me that the mother couldn’t control her own 10yr old daugther to a point she had to call the cops.
2nd, I wouldn’t be surprised if the girl has psychological issues being raised by an abusive mother that is willing to ”tase” her own child.
3rd, the deputy is weak sauce and can’t control a 10yr old girl. He needs training and some time off to hit the gym.
4th, good luck to the girl, but with that attitude I believe she’ll learn whats right and wrong the hard way.
The officer is TOO OLD to be tasering a 10 year old. What a wuss.
Honestly? People whine too much. I’m sure she’s fine.
If she was being aggressive, PHYSICALLY AGGRESSIVE, and hurting him or moving around in too difficult a fashion for him to carry out his task, then she got what she got.
I don’t think it was the right course of action. What about tranquilizer darts? Or just popping her in the ass with a syringe full of Thorazine? I’m being serious. The girl goes limp, and you can either restrain her or more likely she will wake up and be much calmer, however medically so.
And to all you saying “couldn’t he handle her?”- well sure he could have, but it would have been very difficult to subdue a screaming, kicking child (and ten year olds are not all that small) without harming her. Tazing causes no lasting damage (that I’m aware of), and is immediate. Smacking her on the bottom may not have worked, as it wouldn’t shock her into stopping the tantrum.
yes!!
Yes. Next time use a bullet.
@schallerbrandon - lol…THAT’S WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY!!!
@arenfro - I agree with you.
Wait, they arrested her?
for not listening to her mother?
wtf?
I heard she was yelling “Whateva! Whateva! I do what I want! You don’t know me! Whateva!”. She definitely deserved a tasing, We should probably build a cautionary reality show for unruly teenagers around it called “Tased Straight”.
its horrible but what if it were a 15 year old boy who kicked the cop in the groin?
the girl obviously knew what she was doing.
do I think its right for her to be tasered? I don’t know. but I know its not right to kick someone in the groin.
I think its a bit young, this woman is using the police cause she cant control her child. If I were they office I would have just told they lady to spank her child and go on about her day or ignore her.
I would think so.
The mom should have whooped her.
Too young yes.
He should have handled it differently…and as for the mother…I would have left the girls crying ass on the floor…there is no reason for a 10 year old to be acting so childish.
Playing Devil’s Adovcate here…
than again we dont have the whole story…Is she a problem child? were the police there before? What did the mother do in efforts to control the child? there have been cases of kids as young as her age whom have seriously hurt, or even killed another person…and it wasn’t because they didn’t know any better. I know she was only ten, but what was going through the officers mind when he brought out the taser?
Kick guy in there and what do you expect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL5P4tkOpTA
This is funny.
listen to #4 on this video…
@trunthepaige - haha true true.
yes, police officer needs to control himself
Sometimes you just have to wonder. I mean it’s not like she was incredibly large for her age or had a weapon or something. If she was small enough for him to carry her while she was kicking I would assume he could have restrained her without using a taser. However if she were really putting up a huge struggle and he forcibly twisted her arms behind her back in order to cuff her he might have done more harm that way. I’ve never met a 10 year old who could not be reasoned with or outlasted when they lost it though. I have never had to hurt a child in order to calm them down and I volunteer with some pretty hard core kids.
The mom should have been tased for not being able to control her own daughter especially when she WANTED the officer to tase her. Geeez, what kind of mother is that?
Not after getting kicked in the groin. Tasers have different power settings right?
Yes, ten years old is too young to be tasered. The fact that the mother called the police and told them to taser her ten year-old is irrational, irresponsible and unfit parental behavior. There are other ways to get your child to calm down or restrain your child without electrical shock or other forms of abuse. In my opinion, both the mother and the police officer should be arrested for child abuse.
@logicalemu - That’s not funny at all.
that is ridiculous… the mother should never have called the police because her child was having a fit. Thats terrible parenting, let alone asking the officer to use a taser on her. The child should be removed from that home.
10 years is way too young. The taser should be used the same way a gun should be used, as an absolute last resort.
Omg, this is child abuse!
@Coffee_Kaioken - Of course not. We can joke about murder, robbery, adultery, and suicide, but not about rape. I forgot. My bad, totally.
@logicalemu - Actually, you also forgot that you can’t joke about those things either, but it’s okay, I forgive you.
@schallerbrandon - lol, agreed!
@SerenaDante - Lol. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
He should have tasered the Mother and not the child.
While it might be the easier way out… I’d have to go with no.
i bet those guys feel like men.
can’t that kill her? i thought tasers were supposed to be used on adults.
Yeah, I mean, you shouldn’t have to use it on someone so young, and shame to the mother to even ask the officer to use the taser. The officer should be fired and the mother should be arrested for child abuse.
wtf. A grown man couldn’t handle a ten-year-old? And the mother WANTED it???
This is messed up all around.
Depends on the size of the 10-year-old and the size of a cop. I’ve seen some 10-year-olds that are fairly good size for their age and there are some really scrawny police officers out there.
I did a post on this yesterday morning. I live about 40 miles from there. It is apalling that A) The mother would tell the cop that he can taser her little girl and B) That he thought she was so ferocious that he needed to do it. 10 year olds have temper tantrums and just because she was crying and kicking her feet and accidently kicked him in the nuts is no reason to use that much force. She is only 4’6″ and 65 pounds. We try to instill in our kids that the police are their friend and something like this undoes all we have taught them. The father is now trying to get full custody of the little girl since the mother is obviously unable to be a mother ie: spank and send to her room instead of calling the police and having her tasered. I hope the father also takes the cop to court over it,someone like that doesn’t need to be wearing a badge and carrying a taser as well as a pistol.
This is insane. She was far too young to be tasered. Too young. She’s barely old enough to know that being a bitch has consequences. And the officer? What a baby killer. >.>
That article linked lacks enough information for me to voice an opinion.
Good grief, are you kidding me?
Let’s think about this. She’s 10 years old, so either A she’s in 4th or B 5th grade. Maybe she had a tantrum, yea, 10 is getting old for that but stranger shit has happened. I hope the police officer[s] and the mother get punished.
……..
Shitty decision.
Cool!
yes!!
@ItsWhatEyeKnow - Try this link. It happened locally so there may be a little more here. http://www.4029tv.com/news/21638427/detail.html
Grr. No one has the right to put hands on my kid except me. She called in a police officer to do it? What’s the matter with her? And what’s the matter with that officer? Tasering a kid? Wow.
if they deserve it then its ok
@fatal_is_life - I agree. Taze the mom, lol. Moron.
Wow. This is like, an hour away from where I live. I can’t believe that.
Hm. I kinda want to laugh but maybe thats not a good reaction cause the girl was so young… maybe they should have tasered her mom for letting her daughter become so bratty! haha.
@EpsilonCassiopeiae - Where do you live?
Hahaha those bastards. It’s kind of funny that she at least got a good shot of them in the groin first.
yes. a 10 year old is small enough to where an officer would be able to physically stop them by other means.
Yes! Maybe the officer had a bad day.
YES! Some kids are strong. Plus, if he needs a way to calm him/her down, then that was the way to do it.
that just shows how fucked up our justise system is. and yes 10 is way to young to be tasered!!!
That is ABUSE. This taser issue is upsetting. Rules need to be rewritten about them. Remember the one when they tasered the old lady? Seriously
yes,
I think we should be able to taser children from birth. Then they will NEVER disobey me!
Taser companies state that their product should not be used on someone under 60 lbs. The average 10 year old child in the US weighs 64 lbs, so this leaves a risky margin of error. If the child is under weight, he/she could recieve a fatal shock which is a risk for any tasing, but this would increase the likelyhood. In this case, I don’t think it was warrented to take such a risk. That child just need a good swift kick in the pants.
@yingforyouryang - Russellville
@Coffee_Kaioken - Sure you can. It’s not socially acceptable and the PC folks will get their panties in a twist over it, but you most certainly can joke about these things.
That said, there was an element of seriousness to my original comment. If she’s raped, assaulted, robbed, or anything of the sort, chances are she won’t go to the cops because of this incident.
After reading the following my mind changed a bit, “If the officer tried to forcefully put the girl in handcuffs, he could have accidentally broken her arm or leg, Noggle said.”
I’m guessing there are different degrees of tasing?
fuck YES! what an asshole
“Bradshaw’s report said the girl screamed, kicked and resisted any time her mother tried to get her in the shower before bed.”
A ten year old is throwing a tantrum because she doesn’t want to take a shower? Wow. Just…wow.
Unless she was three hundred pounds and six feet tall… No way should they have tasered a ten year old kid who was doing nothing but kicking and screaming.
She had it coming.
I’m just thinking what kind of whimp is this cop, if he can’t handle a 10 year old girl? come on, that’s ridiculous, and really uncalled for.
If you’re strong enough to throw the “combative person” into a wall, then you shouldn’t need a taser.
I think it was perfectly fine, you don’t dare fight any police officer. Kids these days are so disrespectful of everybody and everything. I’m in my teenage years and it’s changed fast. When I was little, we even respected teenagers. We respected anyone older than us, and actually idolized them. Now the younger kids are just little jerks.
ya know, after reading the article, im not sure the cop did anythig wrong. i would have to know more about tasers to say for sure though.
@Rob_of_the_Sky - dude im with ya.
Guess she was just too much for them to handle. Lucky they had the taser.
No. I’d taser the little bitch if she kicked me in my nuts, I mean the little ass hole deserved it.
This is so wrong and sad. The mother doesn’t sound like a very responsible lady either . Her butt should be held in jail for abuse charges. The police officer should lose his badge or at least be on leave for awhile for being an idiot.
What if the 10-year-old girl had a revolver pointed at the officer. Would a taser be appropriate in that situation? The officer used the proper escalation of force. First he attempted to subdue the child by carrying her. When she struck him, he escalated his amount of force. A taser isn’t appropriate force for someone pointing a weapon at you, it is non-lethal. A police officer has to work 8 hours a day protecting his area of operation. The criminal only has to fight a police officer off and get away, then he no longer needs to exhert himself. If the police had to fight fists with fists every time, they would be exhausted by the end of the day. That is why they have these tools (such as canine, Tasers, non-lethal shotgun rounds, battons, and even handcuffs).
No, 10 is not too young to get your punk ass tasered.
her mom called the police? how horrible…
I dont even know what a taser gun is,but that sounds like pretty bad parenting where you end up having to call the police to discipline your 10 year old girl……….
If the mother and a police officer cannot handcuff a ten year old if need be then why bother to call the whimps. Tasers should only be used on big strong men and then only when someone’s life is in danger.
What kind of mother ASKS for her kid to be tasered?!
If she can be restrained no need to tase.
first of all, you should read the report before you decide. she wasn’t hurt and it was better to tase her for less than a second then to accidentally injure her by forcing her into handcuffs or by just trying to make her stop flailing and kicking and hurt herself or someone else. this blog post has almost no information about what happened unless you click the link and actually read something.
secondly, I think parents should learn to discipline their kids instead of relying on police and blaming things on “emotional problems”. they don’t explain what they mean by “emotional problems” so I suspect it could just be regular emotions which they decided was a problem because they didn’t want to deal with it. like @Ex_Adyto_Cordis said, it’s a tantrum, something kids do when they want their way.
@Alatariel40 - ”Ozark Mayor Vernon McDaniel
said Wednesday that the girl wasn’t injured and is now at the Western
Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil.” I suppose that’s where they took her.
making decisions without information doesn’t make you seem incredibly intelligent, you know.
“making decisions without information doesn’t make you seem incredibly intelligent, you know.”
If that was directed at me, I take exception. The only judgmental comment I made was that the article itself seemed strange. I had read the article, and was looking for more information.
Oooh noo…. a little 10 year old was attacking a full grown man. What the hell is wrong with that police officer? They should have training to keep their cool even if they get kicked in the crotch. What a loser.
first of all, the temper tantrum she was throwing isn’t uncommon-she’s 10! many 10 year olds throw tantrums because they don’t want to shower. there was no need for the police to get involved; her mother should’ve let her cool off and tried to get her to take a shower, later. and these “emotional problems” should be taken to a specialist and dealt with (and might i add, the mother appears to need some parenting classes).
however ridiculous the situation is (in that it shouldn’t have happened, in the first place), i don’t think any age is too young. if she needed to be tased, than i don’t see why her age should matter. if it bothered her, she’ll know better for next time
HELL YES!
Really comes down to bad parenting IMO!
@OurUnspokenTrust - I’m trying to understand exactly what your mental problem is. I’ve ruled you aout as being a police officer because I hear these days most police recruitment are looking for people with above average intelligence.
She didn’t have a gun pointed at the officer. That is what makes this case exessive force. The police officer obviously lacks the most crucial element to him being able to effectively complete his job – the ability to properly assess the situation and make a correct judgement call to the appropriate action. He should be suspended or dismissed.
Completely unacceptable.
@xjadersx - Exactly!
I don’t think its too young to be shot with a taser gun, depending upon the situation. However, I can’t help but think that if this officer couldn’t handle an unarmed 10-year-old girl…well, that’s kind of pathetic.
However, what I think ought to be the topic involving this situation isn’t whether or not tasering an unruly 10-year-old is going too far or not, but a woman actually calling the police and wasting time, tax money, and whatever else just to have a cop come over and scare her little girl into behaving.
I am more interested in why a “mother” felt the need to waste the police officers time because she was a shitty mother and couldn’t handle a simple temper tantrum. It is one thing if she was threatening her with a gun or whatever, but curled up on the floor crying? IJesus, if that is call for calling the police, than we are all guilty!
@fatal_is_life - My thoughts exactly! If you can’t handle a kid throwing a temper tantrum, don’t have them!
@sarahb_86 - Aren’t you glad your parents could handle your temper tantrums when you were little? Based on your logic of not having them if they can’t handle it, you wouldn’t be here if they hadn’t been able to.
Yes. I think the police officer was upset he got kicked in the nuts and took it too far. I also think the mother should not have called the police just because her daughter would not take a shower.
There are a lot of stupid people in the world who make decisions like
call the police when their child won’t take a shower or say their child
is in a hot air balloon just for publicity. We all have temper
tantrums, and the parents had/have to handle them. Some just make
mistakes and do it wrong. You don’t know what the child has done
before, if anything, and you don’t know what the mother has gone
through. This could’ve been the last straw. She could’ve been at her
wits end and didn’t know what else to do. The police officer handled it
wrong, just as the mother did. We’re all entitled to our mistakes. I
hope everyone involved in this and other situations like it (the man
and the balloon, etc.) can learn from this and learn how to get a
better handle on their children.
They make a good point in the article. Forcefully handcuffing the girl could break her arm or her wrist. A taser may very well had been the safer way.
@annaisabanana08 – Why yes I am. My parents could handle my brother and I’s tantrums because for one thing they didn’t put up with our crap and for another they actually disciplined us when we did something wrong, as opposed to having a cop come in and taser the hell out of us. The whole concept of discpline seems to be lost on people nowadays. They would rather someone else do it or allow the kid to become spoiled and walk all over them.
The fact of the matter is that for a mother to give permission to have a child tased, who was simply laying on the floor crying when the officer arrived, is not good parenting. Now I will give you one thing, IF the girl had some sort ofdisorder than I can most certaintly understand the drain it would put on her. Afterall my brother, nephew and I all have neurological and nervous system disorders, and were/can be a handful at times. However, it is from my own experience that such a litteral shock to the system, however breif it might have been, can cause the situation to get worse.
I KICKED A COP IN THE GROIN AT THAT AGE! We were in a car accident and they pryed me away from my mom and I didn’t want to leave her so I kicked and punched till they put me back with her! Jeez! I’m glad tasers wern’t all the rage then!
@sarahb_86 - I agree. I think her child should be taken away from her and the cop should receive disciplinary action. There is no just cause to taser a 10 year old unless she was trying to kill someone. She just didn’t want to take a shower. He got kicked in his weakest most vulnerable most painful spot and he overreacted. He shouldn’t have tased the child.
that is ridiculous, Why would you call the police because you can’t control your child. like, for real, grow up!!!
@BelisaAmbrose - If the child had a gun, you know what the appropriate level of force would have been? A gun. A taser is a tool officers use as means to deescalate a situation. Did the child assault the officer? Yes. Did the officer do anything uncalled for? No. He could have wrestled with the child, more than likely gotten kicked some more, bitten, slapped, and other things of that nature. So should police officers not use non-lethal means to subdue a subject if the subject is too young?
Until you have been in a similar situation yourself, don’t judge this man. He made the call, and as far as I’m concerned it was the right one. His job was to apprehend the child and since she was resisting he had the right to taser her. Is she going to be brain damaged? No. Is she going to be confined to a wheel chair for the rest of her life? No. I get it, it’s sad the mother had to call the cops on her child who was acting beligerent. But as an officer of the law he is expected to uphold the law, which he has done in this case. I suggest you buy a taser and taser yourself. All it does is take the fight out of you, and that’s what was called for in this situation. Boohoo they mistreated the beligerent child whom assaulted the police officer. Woe is me.
This is one of the few times that I’ll side with the cop. The little bitch resisted and kicked him in the nuts in the process. I would’ve tasered her ass too.
It’s totally insane for the mother to have called the police, in the first place. It’s also totally insane that this kid didn’t know well enough, not to kick a cop. But yes, it was insane to taser the kid. A 10 year old girl is SMALL. A taser will pack a real wollup. How in the hell did the mother think to ask the cop to taser her kid? If she had owned a taser and had done it herself, she would be in jail, for child abuse. The whole scenario is f’ed.
HAHA….. that is too ridiculous.
yes.
I was watching the news and a reportage about Cheap Viagra was shown on TV and at that same moment I saw on the internet another reportage about the 10 year old that was impacted by a taser gun, the police love to exaggerate when they arrest someone and is cruel.
