I avoid cursing in any and all comment sections since BOTH my parents are on here and my mother knows EVERYONE.
I just never cuss.
I’m not offended by it because I know people will cuss, but I don’t do it myself and avoid people who cuss a lot.
I try to be sensitive to that. I don’t curse a lot either…or do I? I forget to put on my filter on here sometimes.
Yes,
No
Hell no.
I avoid cursing in my blog in general. I don’t mind it, though. I do it out of respect for my readers that don’t like it. *shrug* My boyfriend, on the other hand, curses up a storm on his Xanga.
Yes I do avoid because it shows respect to that blogger.
hrm im not sure =D
Hell no. I don’t give a damn if they’re offended or not. If they’re offended they can go fuck themselves.
Yeah, out of courtesy. I believe in free speech but if they don’t swear in their blogs I’ll find another way to say my point (which shouldn’t be too hard since I don’t swear in general).
However I can see why some people would ignore that, since it is the Internet after all. Though if they’re just swearing up a storm to bug the person just for the heck of it or if they don’t swear at all, that’s just obnoxious.
I swear a lot…
fuck em
If someone uses fowl language on my blog, I usually delete the comment. I don’t swear, nor do I want to hear it, read it or see it.
I’ll curse in my blog because it’s my blog so I can write whatever I want. However, I don’t curse that often and I do keep my cursing out of comments in respect for other people. I think it’s rude. I think there are better ways to get your point across by cursing. I know one time in high school a teacher I respected caught me cursing and he told me “people will most likely take you more serious when you don’t curse” so I tried. I gave up cursing for a while and I found other ways to vent my frustrations and word things and I think some people did respect me more and listen to me more but I also felt better about myself. So who knows. I still curse occasionally but I try not to for the reasons I mentioned above.
freedom of speech rules all.
FUCK
I avoid it if I’ve never been to their blog before, but if they know me and they know I curse and they comment me a lot, then… well, if they don’t like it, they can ask me not to specifically. If it doesn’t say no swearing on their blog, then I’m probably gonna drop a couple eff bombs until they tell me not to.
phuck dat shiet.
Eh. It depends on the situation/scenario.
However, if it’s obvious someone doesn’t curse or might perhaps even be offended I try to refrain.
if i know the blogger never curses, i respect that. and i don’t curse in their comments.
however, if they do, it’s a free for all
No.
I avoid cursing everywhere
It depends … If they know my personality then I’ll drop an F bomb if necessary…If not believe it or not I try to behave..
I try, but sometimes one or two slip out.
Only if they make it clear that they are offended by it. I try to be respectful, as long as the person I’m addressing reciprocates. Or isn’t stupid.
I don’t go out of my way to avoid cursing; I just never curse at all, period.
Personally I try to keep it out of my vocabulary altogether. Sure, there are my pesonal moral reasons, but I also feel (call me elitist if you want) that to use cursing in some forms of writing (like stories meant for a general audience, etc.) that it is poor writing in that simply rewording it would make it accessable to all audiences. Considering that the writing comminuty is so avid in stamping out cliche, you would think that this case of literary laziness would be averted but even some kids movies these days have cursing.
I don’t cuss. And I have warned people on my site. Blocked one I think, but he was completely overboard and it wasn’t just for foul language.
it all depends on the situation…
I used to make a point to, but recently Jesus entered me so I curse a lot less.
I try to watch my language, but it’s hard for me. Sometimes I do though.
Of course. It’s the most basic courtesy.
Yes I don’t curse at all.
I don’t think that it is unreasonable to expect someone to police their own comments. If a comment is offensive, off topic, or unnecessary for any reason, I would expect it to be deleted. It is the commenter’s job to put their own opinion in the best words that they see fit to use, and the blogger’s job monitor and police those comments that they view as lacking function in the general discussion of the topic.
I usually try to, but it doesn’t always happen. I haven’t had any comments deleted because of it, though, so so far so good!
I don’t use profanity in any of my comments. If the person’s post upsets me that much I just hold my tongue
I don’t curse regardless.
Honestly, I try not to curse in any of my comments. It seems to me that people who curse in the comments are just asking for it (it rarely needs a reason, but in some cases…), unless it’s in jest, of course.
As someone who attempts to stray from cursing (for the most part) I don’t care if people curse on my site (depending on the manner in which they do it).
Definitely. It’s easy to disregard someone who leaves a comment full of cursing (or even just one word). They may have even made a good point, but I take them less seriously when they have to use cursing to make their point.
Hell no. I don’t do it in excess, only when I feel it adds something to my comment, so I feel it’s appropriate. When someone is pissing you off, what are you suppose to say?? ‘oh stop it you… mean..person..?’ I’m gonna call that person a bitch, and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to too, so why have all this pretense?
Although I’ll admit, I’m much more aggressive online then I’d ever be in real life; Xanga is kinda like my haven when I can do and say what I really want but wouldn’t do in real life. I don’t think I’ve ever called someone a bitch in a real life argument…
Shit no, I would never be so disrespectful to another person. Unless they came across as a mother fucking cunt then that’s another matter.
Fuck naw. I never censor myself.
More often than not I try to avoid it. I try to avoid it in my blogs as well because it feels trashy. I think cursing in a civilized conversation sort of ruins it, but there are sometimes when I can’t help myself.
I avoid it because youngsters might be reading the comments.
I am the blogger who never curses
I dont curse anyways (much ><) but never in comments
Cursing does require a new jargon!!
Meh, I could care less. If they’re offended by profanity they can always delete that comment.
That said, I only use bad words when I get totally pissed. Profanity is part of life people….get the (censored, censored, censored) over it.
I usually don’t curse, no matter what site it is.
not a goddamn chance.
Nope. I definitely fuckin don’t.
If it’s someone I respect and I know they aren’t a fan of cursing then yes, I try to tone it down. If I don’t respect them, don’t know them, or don’t know if they care about cursing then I go right ahead and do my expletive-filled-thing.
I try to avoid cursing in comment sections in general, when I get around to commenting. I say what I want on my own site however.
I curse in my own blog, but I try to avoid cursing in comments.
I just don’t curse much. The occasional “damn” or “hell” is about as salty as my language ever gets.
I try.
No, cos I don’t cuss anyway.
I don’t usually do that in comments, but I find myself using a strange mixture of innocent words like poop and toot, but then also saying shit and fuck and other vulgar things in the same sentence, just because I have a few friends who don’t curse and some who do.
@runformymoney - Nah, it’s not so bad. It’s a good way for me to keep in touch with them. If I want more privacy, I just open up a second Xanga account.
It matters not to me. I’m grandiloquent enough to use words in a way which even if I’m not directly using profanities, that I can still achieve the same effect with “normal” words.
This cowgirl is pretty cuss deficient~ I do use the word butt~ and am careful not to use it where it would make someone uncomfortable. I know~ stop laughing at me and rolling your eyes. I guess I feel our own sites should be our safe places~ and our place to say what we feel we need to say~ and say how we desire to say it~ cussin’ or not.
@QueenOfOreos - Thanks darlin’~ your heart makes me smile.
Generally yes.
I really only cuss if I know it’ll really piss the person off and I feel like pissing them off. I think it’s silly for an adult to get upset at another adult for cussing. Just like I think it’s silly for people to freak out over graphic video games/movies.
I feel it would be disrespectful to the person. There are much easier ways to get a point across than lacing a comment with words that don’t add anything to what you are saying.
I usually just don’t curse anyways. I’ve never really thought about it though; never deliberately watched my language due to the poster.
On blogs that specifically request in their “rules” section that cursing be kept out, I won’t. But otherwise, I have no problem swearing.
depends really – i don’t curse that much to be honest, but i reserve the right to do it when it comes up. i think that sort of self censorship is more of a personal hang up than anything and i am simply not any good at being an enabler.
I don’t give two shits..
- Kunoichi
i definitely don’t do that with someone i don’t know.
I think your blog is the only exception.
fuck, i do whatever the hell i want every god damn motha fuckin day.. so… of course i’d curse in their comment section
I try to avoid cursing when I’m commenting someone’s blog unless it’s part of what I’m trying to say. I don’t think it’s bad to curse in someone’s blog unless you’re insulting them. There’s no reason to insult anyone, even if you don’t agree with them.
I just talk however I talk, if someone has a problem with that, they can block me, I really don’t care.
Usually I stay respectful, but I sometimes forget and apologize later.
I never use profanity. I have a large enough vocabulary that enables me to express myself intelligently without it.
Yes.
Yes.
I don’t curse much at all and never in comments. If someone curses in my comment section it would depend on what kind of cursing it is whether or not it will bother me. If they curse at me or in their normal course of speech then I would probably leave it alone. If they were cursing unprovoked at another visitor to my page then I might erase their comment.
Subconsciously probably yes. I tend to pick up on social cues without being fully aware of it.
Sometimes people need to emphasize their thoughts and feelings but there are certain events that call for a curse word but often, don’t. It’s just trashy and stupid people curse a lot.
In general I try not to curse so I don’t see why I should do it in anyone’s blog.
Is “Shit” cursing? I say that sometimes.
No. It adds color and emphasis to my speech.
Depends. If I know they don’t cuss, I avoid foul language. If they’re dropping f-bombs and poo-talk, I’ll assume it’s fine and cuss if I feel the need to.
