  • first!  couldn’t help it sorry.

and i don’t mind the invasion of privacy.

  • Nice tibia.  I wouldn’t want to be the screener.  Ugh.

  • Just a little.

  • So long as the operator behaves professionally.

  • I will never fly again.

  • Not safe. Not worth it.

  • since they can see shades and such
I think I’ll go out and get a pair of joe boxers with a HUGE SMILEY FACE on them
    they’ll enjoy it:)

  • They’ve been doing this for a while…

  • Invasion of privacy isn’t the real issue. Unnecessary exposure to x-rays is a big concern.

  • I feel sorry for the poor agents that have to look at this and wash their eyes.

  • Yikes… Yes… yes I do… A little embarrasement is better then a firey, crash landing death would be… I

  • I’d be more worried about the unnecessary exposure to x-ray radiation than invasion of privacy.

  • BFD… I have nothing to hide…

  • i have never been ashamed of my goods. baha.

  • Not if it will catch terrorists…

  • HAT is that? a pacemaker and a piercing? or guns?

  • So, what I really took from this is that I need to wear cute lingerie when traveling :)

  • Absolutely it’s worth it.  Knowing that I won’t get blown up or hijacked on my flight, is great comfort to me.  Anyone that doesn’t like it can take the effing train.

@radicalramblings - @language_geek - The exposure to X-rays is less than every day life.  http://www.physics.isu.edu/radinf/body.htm

  • That’s fine. I’ve got nothing to hide.

  • No!  I don’t believe they are worth the cost, privacy invasions or anything else.

The simple fact is that no technology is foolproof and someone will figure out some way to fool it.

  • is it actually x-rays or some other kind of imaging device? ‘cuz x-rays fuck up my chi.

  • America is becoming such a police state it’s actually scary.

  • @radicalramblings - I agree with you there.

  • @hopeful_mrs_lysacek - Would you mind putting up some nudes of yourself on your blog then?

  • that is way too exposed!

  • remind me to wear a thong next time i fly. baha.

  • @Eternalimplosion - When will you bare all for your blog?

  • who cares? Its not like the security dude is gonna be like “hey frank check out the biceps on this one”

If you want to lessen the security and risk another terrist attack just because you are afraid of what someone else thinks of you then you need to get over it.

    Harsh: maybe. realist: yes

  • Honestly I find it less of an invasion of privacy than a pat-down.  At least you can pretend they can’t see your norg here, no pretending that they can’t feel it.

  • @ProfessorTom - ahhhh now that’s a different issue.  at the airport it’s a matter of security.  i don’t mind being subjected to a security measure that everyone else also has to go through and is done for my own safety.  posting nudes is (usually) about sex.  that being said, i wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to that either, but the fact remains that they are completely different issues.

  • Apparently these dont see what you REALLY need to catch.  Like small explosives, examples being….idk….FIRECRACKERS!  Lets be honest, its just a miniature stick of dynamite.  Wear some boxers that say “STOP LOOKIN AT ME TSA”

  • Mmmmmmm irradiated.

  • We just need to ban Nigerians. AIDS isn’t working fast enough.

  • well…i am not sure but i don’t think so

  • That’s ridiculous. It’s not worth having all privacy removed in the name of “safety.”

  • This isn’t about terrorism. That dude was a patsy. After two quarters in a CIA black ops facility he was set loose to set up a scare. 10 years after scattershot is widely used cancer rates will skyrocket.

That is excellent for American business. The health industry’s stock just keeps going up and up and up!

    God Bless America!

  • nah, check it out.  get mah number, later!  not.  but seriously.  i don’t even think about what they’re looking at, as long as i get to the plane in time.

  • @MochaSprinkle - Oh yeah…that would be wise. xD

  • Ehh I never realized and I don’t really care….especially since I don’t take airplanes anywhere.

  • it’s so sexy…

  • Hmmmmm, I’m making sure that the next time I’m on an airplane it’s for a one-way ticket to Europe where I plan on living for the rest of my life and never visiting the States again. Flying back to Cleveland from Prague this summer was a pain going through security and I don’t really want to experience it again.
Sure, all these screening precautions can be in the name of security and fighting terrorists, but terrorists can be in this country right now and don’t need a plane to carry out an attack. And anything can be used as a weapon. For example, in carry-on luggage I can bring a pair of blunt-scissors (like what I carry for use on my embroidery) or knives shorter than a certain length. I could still use them as weapons, if applied in a certain way. Terrorist weapons are advancing in their technologies, and soon I bet we won’t be able to distinguish between a normal household object and a weapon.
I’m not totally against the screenings. It can help find potential , but I don’t think it’s a 100% cure.
And that pic is incredibly creepy and scary-looking! I’d hate to see what I look like on an x-ray lol

  • @HomeStarKike - bahahahaha, so un PC, so hilarious

  • WORTH IT! I’m uncomfortable with the thought of being looked at like that but I’m sure there’s more people uncomfortable with walking through the gates because of their illegal paraphernalia!!

  • Partial nudity>plane blowing up.

Ya know how many bodies they have to look at? As if anyone is actually going to remember what your parts look like.

  • Oh well at least if all you see is my bones at least I will look thinner.

  • that is just ridiculous!

  • @ProfessorTom - i totally would for a worthy cause.

  • I think everyone being subjected to this would be an invasion of privacy. We have problems deeper than what this would solve. And besides, terrorists will just think of a different way; it’s impossible to erase the risk.

  • is that you being x-rayed?

  • This was only done for a trial period in Manchester Airport but i think they should install them permanently it’s better to be safe than sorry.

  • yes id much rather some one see me like that then someone blowing an entire plane to peices
so yes its more thn worth it

  • I definitely don’t have an issue with it.

My only concern would be while I was pregnant. But I guess then I could get them to do a private search instead.

  • eh, it’s worth it. nothing that everyone hasnt seen before

  • I never minded the invasion, I felt safer because of it.

  • Dan wants to be the screener. Maybe a cavity search specialist.

  • No it’s not worth it,because the chances of a terrorist attack in your airplane is the same as the chances of a terrorist attack in anywhere else. Christ, people, are you really that scared of dying that you’re willing to give up your life liberties for the illusion of safety?

  • who gives a shit, it would be cool to have some hot airport screener chick checking out m’ huge dong and then we could go zoom a zoom zoom in the airport bathroom whilst mocking and ridiculing arab culture, and I’ll make broad general statements about the cultural background of terrorists when I’m about to bust a nut!

  • @DrugInducedDuck - Apparently so, even though one is more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport than die in a terrorist attack on an airplane.

  • I’m assuming this is asking would the readers here want to tolerate something like that x-ray at an airport to ensure safety?

For me, yes. I would rather go through that, than have to worry about a hostile take-over on the plane and dying somehow after being terrorized and whatnot and possibly having the plane that I was on used as a missile to destroy an important US monument and/or murder countless people to get at one or more high ranking US officials.

Plus, its a lot faster and (in my opinion) still less invasive than an actual physical strip and cavity search for each passenger. :p And, yes, I’m aware that as far as I have heard no one has suggested something like THAT yet.

But, either way, I’d rather have that x-ray and be safe, than not have the x-ray and be sorry.

  • @MochaSprinkle - I think you should wear it all the time.   Who wants ugly underdrawers?

  • Your balls are showing.  Bumblebee tuna!

  • Oh, I wish they had separate screeners for girlies ang boys. :S Grr, pervy thoughts O_O but then again, I work in a hospital. I’ve seen it all. I’m willing to endure a few seconds of exposure rather than worry for 18 hours about terrorists getting inside my plane.

  • I have absolutely no problem if a handsome TSA agent checks out my butt.

  • k – i’m imagining a frequent flyer business class all nudist airline –

now they get sub-Q plastique implants – w/ a note from the terrorist MD justifying the lump

    <- square one…

    i like home–i ain’t goin nowhere…

  • @BB61 - not ugly, just that we can’t all wear lace under things every day :)

  •  HAHHA !

oh nos. they are going to notice my strapped on penis ! D:

  • like what ? aren’t we all built basically alike ?  we are not alike if we have a bomb on our sex organs.  i am really sick of political correctness, very  sick !!!  IT IS WHAT IT IS , for god’s sake !  OH SHIT, I SAID GOD !  just let me reach my damn destination in one piece !

  • whoa, he has a huge dong.

  • @JessxMaxine - That’s a strap on?! I Want… D:

  • I’ve got nothing to hide, but I’m not a fail of the idea of strangers seeing what I’ve got in such detail.  I’ve heard a solution to the privacy problem is to have computers, not people, analyze the pictures.

  • i do NOT think this is right. there are young girls and boys who also have to go through those scanners and TSA staff are NOT immune to the fact that perverts get hired. wait. a 12 year-old girl suddenly finds her scan printed out and pasted on facebook or something….. how about the fact that these scanners are just the beginning and the technology for the same thing in full detail is here? it will be like porn in living 3D.

  • Is that a lead jock strap?  ‘Cause I heard that they can see your junk too….lol

  • This is old, but unfortunately it’s become necessary for this stuff to happen.

Do I prefer that some stranger sees my body before I get on a plane? No.
Do I prefer that some stranger sees part of an explosive device on a terrorist’s body before they get on a plane I’m getting on? Yes.

So, sure, it’s worth the invasion of privacy.

  • @SladeTheGreyFox - Won’t be that much longer before taking the trains requires similiar processes.

    ………………………

Yes, i completely mind. Let’s all get straight jackets while we’re at it and live in little bubbles! Cause that is just about the only thing that will protect us from death by the hand of another. Even then, the elements will get us sooner or later. I’d rather live with dignity for 40 years then live without it for 80. I feel very sorry for our generations. Totally absorbing in surviving, forgetting how to live.

  • It bothers me but not quite enough to permenently stop me from travelling.  I never have anything to hide but it’s the whole principle.  t’s an invasion of something that should be all mine… ME!  My ‘carry-on” luggage didn’t count because it was all material but now you’re scanning my body.. ehhh something is off about it.  Tilt too much further and it may very well deter me from travel forever.    Funny, I was blogging about this tonight too.

  • shit. i better get a jump start on that weight loss plan before I go on vacation this summer.

  • yes it’s worth it, if it means flight safety will be increased, definitely yes.

  • Check the constitution; privacy is not a right, and the privacy act of 1974 does not cover this type of thing.  So no, it’s not an invasion of privacy.  Privacy is a concept that exists only in ones mind.  Privacy is like polictical correctness.  There is no law on the issue, but people b!tch about it as if there is.

One other thing, from were did this photo come? How do we know it’s real?

  • @jaydedheart - Straight jackets and bubbles have NOTHING to do with preventing mass casualties from acts of terrorism.  Focus on the actual issue, shall we?  And for the record, I *AM* slightly absorbed with my own survival. I like the comforting fact that my plane won’t be blown to bits before it lands.  This isn’t the world of our parents, or our parents’ parents.  We have to ADAPT to the changes in order to survive.

  • @SilverBird_Loves - If you read up on the actual machines, you’ll learn that the operator cannot see the person in the booth.  The booth assistant cannot see the screen.  The scan cannot be saved or printed in any way shape or form.

  • wow, ummm… that’s a little bit too much. but on the other hand, better to be safe then sorry. i would be blushing if i ever go through that. lol.

  • It’s an alternative to a strip search, so…

Plus in some states they’ve modified it so it only shows items above skin density and a chalk outline of the body.

  • @MochaSprinkle - Why not?    OK, maybe the lace itches or something, but they make some darn ugly underdrawers.    I can’t figure out why anybody would want ugly underwear.

  • this is great! i dont think it is as long as they dont show anyone… i can say i wouldnt want to be the operator that has to look at the people

  • Oh hell no. I won’t be flying anywhere! lol

  • Yes. =3

    *pervert*

  • Most people do not mind their doctor seeing them naked.  I do not think this is any different.

  • i don’t care, i’m hot, airport workers can enjoy that too.

seriously though, that’s an invasion of privacy.

  • @SladeTheGreyFox - Sure they do. You’ll never have to worry again about survival.

  • i literally DO NOT UNDERSTAND how people think their own privacy is more valuable than hundreds or thousands of lives. said people, in my opinion, are selfish scum and should take boats, cars, trains, or buses, if they do not feel like taking this precaution to save lives

  • seriously people, nobody cares about your body as much as you think. someone who has this job will see thousands a day. youre nothing special, they wont remember it

  • What’s he got in the photo?

Anyway, I wouldn’t mind it. It’s not like it’s done for pervy reasons, haha. It’s a professional thing and I would rather be safe. People are saying that terrorists will find a way to fool this, but I don’t see how that’s possible, if you can see EVERYTHING. I am sure you can’t fit a gun inside your mouth or other places… O__o

  • In a way it is, I would feel like I want to over myself up when I’m already covered up haha, but I think it may just be one way where we know that there isn’t a high-jacker on the plane.

  • give me liberty or give me death. security at any cost isn’t security. Plus if we really wanted to be safe we shouldnt refuse to question someone just because they are not white and might get offended.

  • The problem is two fold:  one, it is an invasion of privacy; and, two, it is just one step in many more that will probably be coming down the road.  I think the civil liberties of the constitution are going to end up being totally eroded.

  • lead cod-piece, fake abs. lives are over rated. you will die quite soon anyway. live life instead of living scared.

  • This screen isn’t being displayed through the entire airport.  How is it an invasion of privacy if only one or two people see the screen?

  • No. They have no right to what’s under my clothing, for any reason. Fuck political correct bullshit and profile the bastards already, like Israel already offered to train us in.

  • Yes. I mean…I’d be terribly embarrassed, but that’s better than being dead.
