Xanga’s New Editor
A few days ago, I noticed xanga changed their editor. That is the place where you add a new entry.
I try to always embrace change. So for the most part, I have just embraced the new editor. I can’t get the spell check to work but there are so many spelling and grammar nazis on Xanga that someone will generally come along and correct it.
Do you like the new xanga editor?

I guess i didn’t notice.
no… j/k I haven’t paid any attention when I wrote my few latest entries. I’ll go check it out
NO! It is awkward and very user unfriendly to a non geek such as I. Thank you for posting this!
I haven’t noticed. Well, there was that one glorious day that the rich text editor worked in Chrome, but that was all. Then it went back to not working in Chrome …
didn’t seem like anything changed. And yes, I HAVE posted recently.
It’s ok for the most part. The spell checker seems to be working for me, but then again, perhaps I frighten it.
Okay.
First you wrote Xanga with a capital X, and then you wrote xanga with a lower case x.
Consistency is everything, Dan.
Whaa? mine looks the same. What changed?
@seedsower - What she said.
Think someone can post a photo of the new editor? I wonder what I’m missing.
I hadn’t noticed a change, lol.
It was being different for safari. it was a rich text for a little while and then randomly switched back. I had to reset mine to rich text so I could use it.
I haven’t noticed a change. Now I’m curious.
Not yet???
YES… it’s now compatible with Chrome. It was basically something I’d lost hope on but now it’s here. <3 Xanga!
Mine looks the same DX
Yeah, I have no idea what you’re talking about.
@MochaSprinkle - I use Chrome 90% of the time, so it’s a welcome change in that respect.
I didn’t even notice.
Other than the spell check not working it looks/acts the same to me.
And spell check is no big deal, I can just look the word up in a *gasp* book!
I don’t notice much. I wish the new Xanga editor success.
What’s different? I don’t notice anything at all. :-/
My first thought was “Oh Boy, I hope they finally added a text “paint brush”
It looks all the same to me (not that that’s a bad thing)
I keep hearing from everyone about how it’s been changed….yet I haven’t noticed any differences with mine.
What’s supposed to be different?
I haven’t noticed the built in spell checker. In the future I should turn off Fire Fox’s built in spell checker for this site and try it out. My browser uses a British-English word list instead of American-English. I’m guessing it’s Canonical’s fault and not Mozilla’s. As per my choice in OS. Minor inconvenience though, can also be fixed.
Oh wait! There it is. I had to go into my settings and change it to plain text and then click the “use newest editor” button that appeared. It’s a little cleaner and there are some bugs and a few things missing, but if you look at the setting menu, Xanga’s well aware of these issues.
“Missing Features:
Video and audio upload – please copy the embed code from video managerand audio manager to paste into the editor manually for now; Spell checker – currently working on; Border color around the post; Background color of the post; ”Currently Playing, Reading, Watching” feature”
hmm.. I ddn’t notice any diff. you’re obeservant
I use google chrome, so I wouldn’t notice any change they make to the editor because google chrome has no features in the editor anyway. It’s very basic and I would have to use FF or IE to even see the changes.
I didn’t notice….
Yeah, I think the change isn’t completely implemented yet. A lot of accounts don’t have it.
But… I don’t like it.
I haven’t noticed anything. :/
@OhItWontBeForever - Itcould be argued that first he used “Xanga” as a proper noun, and then “xanga” as an adjective, which would be okay. We should all leave the poor man alone.
By the way Dan, “work” ends the independent clause, and so should end in a comma, before the conjunctive ”but” introduces the next clause in this compound sentence.
That felt soooooooo good.
I didn’t notice…?
I noticed a slight difference and have been having issues inserting pictures into the posts, but other than that, I like it.
hmm I had the rich text editor work for one day on chrome and then it went back to being clunky and hasn’t changed for me. How do I reset it to rich text?
I’ve not noticed even with the recent posts. Is this something being rolled out to premium first?
I haven’t notice it yet. Thanks for the heads up.
I had just noticed that it loads more slowly. I should be more observant, but I don’t really need extras like spell check. I spell prefectly.
How is it different? I haven’t noticed.
the editor changed? I havent noticed anything different
Mine is the same.
I, like so many others, did not notice a change.
The image you’re using in this post is the registered trademark of an internet blogging provider based out of New York. I suspect you’re using it without their explicit permission and that’s a terms of use violation. I’m afraid I’m going to have to report this.
@jasonwl - A fellow Linux user… Pleased to meet you.
It looks the same to me. It must have just changed for certain browsers.
@JosephParsons - Likewise.
@jasonwl - I run with Ubuntu, Puppy and DSL. I’ve been thinking about looking at Suse next.
I haven’t made a post in a week so I wouldn’t know.I probably wouldn’t notice anyway
I didn’t notice anything different….Woops.
Didn’t notice there was a new one.
I made this comment on somebody else’s site, but I will make it here:
When it comes to Grammer Nazis, I drop Daisy-Cutters on their Dresden.
The same holds true for editors.
I didn’t notice it either.
When the dreaded red misspelling comes on line for a bad word, I try to type the word into the Google search to find a clue on how to spell it right. The dreaded red squiggle was on the adjective Google but not the proper noun.
Xanga when used as the first word is capitalized. But it still gets the dreaded red squiggle. So when a xanga blogger uses it as an adjective it won’t pass the test either.
So far, so good.
I have not noiced any changes.
I just now added a new entry and didn’t notice any difference. So… I guess I do?
It looks the same as always to me.
@darkoozeripple - CLEVER! haha. That works. xD
And the rest of your comment was hilarious.
I see no difference, but I have had issues with posting lately. Problems loading the editor, problems uploading pics. I figured it was just my internet, but maybe not??

I didn’t even notice that it was different.
I think I enjoy my Currently Watching/Listening/Reading/Playing function far too much to give it up. It’s really the only reason I haven’t even given a second thought of switching to a different blogging forum. I like that option, helps me keep tracks of certain activities easily and without having to go through and actually read an entry to figure things out, to that respect.
I’m using the beta editor
I like it. Right now, it’s missing things that I don’t use anyway. Firefox’s spell checker works for me. The only thing I have against it right now is the double spacing.
@wtf_turmoill -
that’s the problem I have.
@HisKeiki - Yeah, it’s kind of irksome. Especially when you press shift and enter for just one line space, and it doesn’t let you do certain things with the text (like bullet the lines correctly).

i don’t really know the difference as I just started hanging out at xanga after a long hiatus.
on the spellcheck, I use google chrome browser and one thing i love about it is it has an automatic spell checker for forums, (not that i need it – ha ha)
