  • Everybody Draw Mohammed Day

An artist is in the news after she drew a sketch making May 20th “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.”

(This photo is just printed from the news item for discussion purposes and is not meant to disrespect Muslims).

It was a response to South Park editing one of the episodes because of death threats from a Muslim group.  She said she was not trying to offend Muslims.  Instead she said she “felt so much passion” about the message that Comedy Central sent by editing South Park.

The artist, Molly Norris, said “the campaign was not meant to disrespect any religion, but rather meant to protect people’s right to express themselves.”  Here is the link:  Link

What do you value more, respect for the religion of others or protecting freedom of expression?

  • Shopping With a Woman

I think I have solved the difference between men and women.

I would like to make a general observation.  It is not that women have a life that is more difficult than men. It is that women make life more difficult.

You can turn to shopping as a perfect example of how women make things more difficult.  I am sure there are exceptions to this rule but if a guy visits the store to buy clothing, he can decide if he likes the shirt or pants.  Then he can try on the shirt or pants.  It either fits or it does not fit.  If it fits, the man pays for the item.  The shopping experience is done.  Most of the time, the shirt or pants fits.  The man can simply check the size to see if it is his size.

Now women, on the other hand, can shop for several hours and find nothing to wear.  They can try on 20 outfits.  The outfit has to meet their approval.  It then has to meet the approval of the mirror.  It then has to meet the approval of the other women standing outside the dressing room.  Then it has to meet the approval of the poor guy she brought with her.

The problem is that women have made a very easy process into something difficult and complicated.  It either fits or it does not fit.

This same process is played out for a wedding.  Women need 4-5 women to watch them try out a dress.  It has to meet everyone’s approval.  Can you imagine a guy trying on his tux and turning around to show his backside to his guy friends and asking, “Do you think this makes my butt look big?”

Men just need to be fitted for the tux.  It either fits or it doesn’t fit.

Life is not more complicated for women.  Women make life more complicated than it needs to be.

Do you have a difficult time picking out clothes for yourself?

  • Xanga’s New Editor

A few days ago, I noticed xanga changed their editor.  That is the place where you add a new entry.

I try to always embrace change.  So for the most part, I have just embraced the new editor.  I can’t get the spell check to work but there are so many spelling and grammar nazis on Xanga that someone will generally come along and correct it.

Do you like the new xanga editor?

  • 11-Year-Old Pregnant

An 11-year-old girl is pregnant by from her stepfather.  She is four months into her pregnancy.

(This is not the girl.  It is a photo of an 11-year-old girl to give it perspective).

According to an article, women’s groups are putting pressure on the girl to have an abortion.  The girl wants to have the baby.  Here is the link:  Link

Mexico City passed a law a few years back that only allowed abortions in the first three months of pregnancy.

Do you think an 11-year-old should have an abortion?

  • Comment Expectations

I have noticed that most bloggers have some sort of comment expectation.  What I mean is that most bloggers make a post and then expect a certain number of people to respond.

So many bloggers will try to deny that is the case.  They will say “I write for myself” or “I don’t care if anyone comments.”  But people that say that are sometimes the first to type that xanga is dead or to pulse and ask where everyone is at if they get no comments.

In other words, I think the bulk of the people on xangaland have some sort of comment expectation.

How many comments do you expect to get when you post on xanga?

  • Boobquake

A woman is organizing an event asking women to dress provocatively on April 26th.

It is in response to a Muslim cleric who said that “Many women who do not dress modestly. . .lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes.”

So she is challenging the Muslim cleric and is asking all women to dress immodestly on April 26th and if there is no earthquake, it will prove the cleric wrong.  Here is the link:  Link

I want to ask the women of xanga to support this Muslim woman on April 26th by trying to cause a boobquake with their profile pics.  Just kidding.

I do think the cleric raised an interesting question.  He said that women who do not dress modestly “lead young men astray.”

Do you think women are responsible if their immodest dress leads men astray?

  • Depression and Blogging

I was reading a pulse of wutuwaitn4 and he typed “I’ve noticed that most people blog more when they’re depressed and sad. I, on the other hand, blog more when I’m happy. Is that strange?”

Do you tend to blog more when you are depressed?

  • President Obama Must Prove Citizenship

Politicians in Arizona voted to require presidential candidates to show a birth certificate in order to be on the state ballot for President in 2012.  Pressure has been growing for President Obama to show evidence he is a U.S. citizen.  So the House voted to make it a requirement.  Here is the link:  Link

Should President Obama be forced to show proof he is a citizen in order to be on the 2012 ballot?

  • Text Messages

I was just reading an article about how a third of U.S. teenagers “send more than 100 texts a day.”

In fact, girls send on average 80 text messages a day and boys send on average 30 text messages a day.  Here is the link:  Link

I have noticed that my oldest son spends far more time texting than he spends on social network sites.

About how many text messages do you send a day?

  • Supporting Gay Divorce

A court in Texas is going to have a case in front of it concerning the right of a gay couple to divorce.  The couple want to divorce but they were married in a state that allowed for gay marriage.

But Texas does not allow for gay marriage so the Texas Attorney General is contesting the divorce saying it would protect the “traditional definition of marriage.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you support the right of gays to divorce?
