  • Blogging Inspiration

For the longest time, I have basically found the ideas for my blogging using sources like fark.com, foxnews.com and drudgereport.com.

There was a time when a great deal of my post ideas came from conversations I was having with my wife while we were walking at night.  Other times I have used topics that came up on the radio while I was driving to work in the morning.

Where do you tend to get the ideas for your posts?

  • Internet Time

I spend a great deal of time at work every day on the Internet.  You combine that with the amount of time I spend on xanga and facebook for fun, and I think it is safe to say I am an Internet junkie.

In my defense, I make money for the time I spend on the Internet.  My employer wants to be on the Internet and wants me to spend time on social networks.  So it is sort of a win for all those involved.

How many hours a week do you spend on the Internet?

  • Huckabee: Gay Marriage = Incest and Polygamy

Republican Mike Huckabee compared allowing gays and lesbians to marry to “legalizing incest, polygamy and drug use.”

He also said that gay couples should not be permitted to adopt.  He added, “Children are not puppies.”

Mike Huckabee said, “That would be like saying, well there’s there are a lot of people who like to use drugs so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want to use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, should we accommodate them?”  Here is the link:  Link

Is allowing gay marriage the same as allowing incest?

  • Animal Cruelty and Gothic Kittens

A woman has been sentenced to house arrest for six months after she was convicted of animal cruelty.

The woman had “inflicted” body piercings on three kittens and was selling them as “Gothic Kittens.”  The woman put piercings in their ears, necks and tails.  She used fourteen guage needles which is the size that is normally used to inject cattle (no word why it is ok to inject cattle).  Here is the link:  Link

I have read a few comments on this issue and some say it is no different that giving a human baby piercings or circumcising a baby boy.  Dogs also have their ears cropped and kittens are sometimes de-clawed.

Do you think it is animal cruelty to pierce a cat?

  • “A” Vs. “An”

The other day I posted on STDs and I asked “Do you have a STD?” in the title and also asked, “Have you ever asked a potential partner if he/she had a STD (sexually transmitted disease)?” in the question at the end.  Here is the link:  Link

That caused someone to correct me and tell me that it should be “an” and not “a.”  Then a discussion broke out on Facebook on the issue.

So look at the following two options:

    1.  Do you have a STD?

    2.  Do you have an STD?

    Which is correct?

  • Girls’ Wrestling

I was reading an article about girls’ wrestling that is a little older.  But for the last few years, there has been some girls that want to wrestle on high school teams.

The problem is that there are not enough girls.  So the girls have to wrestle with the boys.  There is a concern that the guys might be too strong.  Others are concerned that the boys will struggle to wrestle with the girls when they have been taught all their life to not wrestle or hurt girls.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think it is a good idea to let the girls wrestle with the guys?

  • Do You Have an STD?

You know what I have always wondered?  How do people bring up the conversation of STDs (Sexually Transmitted Disease)?

I did not have sex until I was married.  So the conversation never came up.  But I would think that the whole conversation would be awkward.

I have always wondered how a person brings it up.  I know that they teach you in sex ed to talk about it.  But when does it come up?  Do you just ask the person, “I was thinking about having sex with you.  Do you have any STDs?”

I would think it would ruin a moment.  Do you ask, “Are you the type of woman I should wear a condom for?”  I would think it would kill the romance.  Plus in order the ask the question, you are almost assuming that you will in fact have sex.  So how do you slip in the question?

Have you ever asked a potential partner if he/she had an STD (sexually transmitted disease)?

  • How Old Is Old Enough For Marriage

There is a story in the news about a 13-year-old child bride who died shortly after marrying a 23-year-old man.

(The above photo is not the girl but another child bride.  I posted it because they look so happy together).

In Yemen a “quarter of all females marry before the age of 15.”  Her is the link:  Link

This caused me to think about the marriage age in the U.S.

What do you think should be the minimum marriage age?

  • How Friends Can Ruin Your Xanga Site

I must admit that the longer I have been on xanga, the more I tend to edit myself.  I was just thinking about a post I made 4-5 years ago about a woman that was trying to kill her hamster.  She did not want to pay to have the hamster put to sleep.  So she beat the hamster to death against a rock.  I posted about it and lets just say there were a few people upset about the issue.  She shut down and I took crap for a few days.

When I first started on xanga, they did not have the private message feature.  I did not know how to instant message.  So I was cut off from having friends on here.  It caused me to blog with an edge.  But with time, you become more careful.  You don’t want to offend this person or that person.

I was talking to someone from xanga who is generally considered uncut.  He mentioned there were certain issues he did not touch because he knew he would offend friends.

But I have also watched as people tell their friends about their xanga site and with time they become careful about what they say.  They do not want to offend family and friends.

It is funny to think back about some of my old posts.  I had more of an edge to me.

Do you think you are more careful what you say on your xanga site than you were when you first started?
