When I was younger, I was amazed that my dad only needed 4 hours of sleep a night. I felt tired even if I had 8 hours of sleep. As I am getting older, I need less and less sleep.
Not much. Whenever I go to bed on time, I usually end up waking up in the middle of the night.
4-6 hours.
10 hours in summer, 5 after school starts.
Less than two hours on school days.
If I can actually manage to fall asleep I get about 8. I’m always tired though.
Two to five hours or so. More if there’s been heavy drinking the two days previous.
I think about eight. I usually go to bed by 11:00 and wake up by 7:00 if I don’t need to go anywhere. Unless I have a bad dream, I don’t usually wake up during the night.
i need 7 or 8 to not feel tired, but i usually end up with 5 or 6, during school
9 hours. but I usually get 3 during school time.
To be functional, 3-5. To be attentive, 7. To be at full capacity 8-9.

About eight, normally.
It really depends on whether if I have anywhere important to be the next day. Ideally, I get about 10-12 on my lazy days but during the school year I get around 6. I still do think my Dad is super-human when he works a 11 hour shift on 5 hours of sleep.
Oh, I always need about 12 hours of sleep to be in a good mood. My body still thinks it’s a newborn apparently. I like it :]
not enough….
durning school, i am lucky if i get 7
4-6 = perfect. any more, aside from 11+ hours, and i’m ungodly tired for days.
I have a pretty bad sleeping pattern so I function well off 2-6 hours.
7-10 makes me tired for some reason lol
I need 5-7 hours. If I get more than 8 I feel groggy.
Need? 2-4. But 8 is pretty good.
In high school I felt fine off 3, but I was used to it. Now 5 makes me slightly tired. 6 or 7 I can’t tell the difference from 8.
I like sleeping 6 best. More than that and I feel unproductive.
I’m 65 and usually sleep 4 hours a night….plus a 2 hour nap most afternoons.
It always depends on my mood. sometimes I sleep a good 8 hours. Others only 3 and then I can sleep like 12 hours!
i need at least 7 to be happy panda
I need 8 or 9 hours. Any less than 7 and I feel completely run down. Less than 4 and it takes me an entire week to feel normal again.
I’m jealous of people who need 4-5. I’m just thinking of how much more I could do with my life if I spent more hours awake….
summer, 7-10 school year, 4-5 (thankfully, I dropped IB so I can sleep more now)
9 and I will feel awesome. I only sleep like 4-7 for school though.
Lol I’m pregnant, I sleep about 12 hours a day. I’ll find out how much I “Need” next month when its all gone.

I’m permanently tired and sleepy all the time. Sigh.
As I’ve gotten older, I need less sleep also. 7 hours is about right.
I can function okay on six or so hours but only for one or two days, if I only get that much every night for, say, a week, I’d be dead. If I had my way I’d sleep ten hours a night.
I went through a phase where I could get by on 2 hrs. Now it’s up to 4 or 5.
8 hours of sleep.
Most people need about that much. Some who say they can last on only 3 hours of sleep are lying and take naps midday or go through microsleeps.
4 or 5
8 – 10…damn i’m getting old
i don’t know how much i need but i get a good 5 hours, the most. i have bad insomnia. i got it from dad and grandma.
I looove getting a lot of sleep. I can take 5 million naps a day, but to be alive I need about 5 hours.
As long as I have a good* 4hr sleep I’m able to function properly without being cranky 10hr is ideal
i only get 6 hours of sleep when i work and about 7-8 on my days off. i would love to sleep for 10-12 hours tho.
I have a really strange sleeping schedule. I go to bed somewhere between 9:30 and 11:30 every night. I get up at 3:00am and I go to work, get back at 9:30, and go back to bed till 12:00-2:00.
I feel fully rested with 9 hrs.
I usually sleep 4 hours and that’s it. When I was deployed in Iraq, I got 2 hours of sleep, and a 15 minute nap every hour while working. haha
A lot.
6-7 hours
Even a 5-hour sleep seems enough for me, but it isn’t really good in the long run. I felt tired. I now try to have at least 8 hours of sleep a day.
i Need my eight, but sometimes that’s not possible, so i can function just fine on four or five, though i can sleep a whole day away, which in the past i felt cool, but now i hate myself when i do that.
@HeLLo_Bianca - that made me giggle. =] “happy panda”…
I need 8 to be normal. between 7 & 8, I’m functioning. Anywhere below 7, I can’t be held responsible.
Not enough. Contsantly tired, constantly cranky, can’t sleep through the night… Not enough sleep unless I’m drugged up on nyquil, and that’s only when I’m sick.
Apparently not many. I haven’t slept since last night (night of 8/16) and have no idea why! But usually when I CAN sleep, I prefer about 6 hours. If I get 8 or more hours of sleep, I wake up with a HUGE headache and feeling worse than if I would have slept for 2 hours. haha, go figure, right?
About 6 hours is all I seem to need
I sleep WAY too much. I can sleep for a solid 12 hours. I can’t wait to get old.
Depends.I can stay awake 2 days and then sleep 5 hours or 3 in the morning. Or sleep 20 in 2 days -_-” and after that stay away another 2 days…
8 hours if i start my timetable….if not the thing that is up stills available.
9-10. My insomnia prevents me from having good quality sleep, so I need more of it. =/

I try to get 8 during the school year.
7ish… but i normally get 3-4ish… i’ve got a bad habit of staying online. lol.
9 or I’m a bitch.
Too many. I wish *I* could get by on 4 hours of sleep.
I usually get about 6-7. Any more than 8 and I feel fuzzy the whole next day.
to be honest i only need about 5 or 6. I usually wake up early, feeling wide awake, i go pee, but since its still early and i feel i have nothing better to do, i go back to sleep. But the thing is, if i go back to sleep, when i wake up again, i feel reallly tired. Its weird.
I’m a teenager. 8+, 9+ if I can help it!
I have rheumatoid arthritis and 7-8 hrs of sleep is required to sustain optimal energy levels. Do I get them? Not always which results in nodding off during the day. My husband, on the other hand, is like the Stephen King novel Insomnia. He wakens every day just a minute earlier than the day before. His sleep requirements seem to be lessened until one day it catches up and he can’t stay awake even during the day (weekends).
I sleep great at my nap in the afternoon now that I’m retired.
6 to be happy and bouncy.
8 to 9 hours usually. I naturally wake up at about 8 hours, but am not really myself until 9 hours after I went to bed. And compared to most people on here, I’m old.
7 to 8. I wish I only needed 4 hours, I could do so much more and waste so much more time with the extra hours.
14-16 to feel fully satisfied… haha but that never happens so. Just 7-8 a night I try
I used to need closer to 9 or 10. Now, Im pretty good on 8, but 9 is still better! (Yes, I know I require a lot of sleep!)
I dont know how anyone functions on 4 hours of sleep. For me, anything less than 6 and I am a miserable bitch!
I’ve always done well in 1.5 hr increments. I like to get 9; I perform almost as well on 6.
Teens are supposed to get between nine and ten hours. Adults are supposed to get 7 or 8. If you miss sleep though, you get a “sleep debt” and then you try to make it up by sleeping longer.
For me it varies from night to night. Some nights I can get ten while other nights I can get five. I think I’m averaging on 8 hours.
I can survive on 3. But I would love to sleep 4-7 hrs. more towards 7.
I usually get 6-7 hours of straight sleep at night, then I drift in and out for another 2-3 in the morning. So I guess 9 hours is what I require.
Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so you shall become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.

I usually I get 4-8.
I feel good when I get about 7 hours of sleep. Any less and I feel tired. Any more and I feel like I slept too much and I just don’t feel right.
I run about five hours of sleep every night, but I think I’m only use to it because I’m a mom.
To function, I can run on as little as 2. To actually be content, I’m usually aiming for 8.
7 hours.
i need 6 hour at least
I average around 7. I can get by on 5. Any less than that and I’m really dragging the next day.
I usually get around 7, sometimes less. But, I just read a study that said the average good number of hours to get is 7, not 8. Because like you said, if you get too much ,it doesn’t rejuvenate you, it only makes you feel more tired.
I usually get about 7. I need about 9 to feel good.
i usually hit the rack around midnight, but i always wake up at 4 to work out, so i can pretty much function with 4 hours of rest.
At least 7 hours. Then I’m happy…. but anything less. I end up being cranky… More is always good though! LOL
10 as i get older i need more sleep
The more your responsibilities the less your sleeping time. I usually sleep about 4 hours a day.
When I figure it out, I’ll tell you =p
For school I need about three hours. Normally, I LIKE to get a good ten… but I get about six.
Surprisingly, I felt better getting only one hour of sleep than I have when I’ve gotten 8 or so hours of sleep. My sleeping pattern is terrible though, so I can go from 1-12 hours of sleep depending on the day…yes, it’s awful.
about 7 for me. Sometimes around 9 hours if I have to make up for lost sleep.
About 4 during the school year. About 12 on weekends and summer.
5-7… anymore and i feel like crap all day.
When I get 10 to 11 hours of sleep I’m not tired. Any less and I feel sort of fatigued all day.
Like 12. No, seriously. hahaha
It varies. I think I have a sleeping disorder. It takes me 3-10 hours to fall asleep once I am in bed (if I do go to sleep at all). Then, I sleep anywhere from 4-15 hours, and almost always wake up tired. And I usually have crazy dreams during whatever amount of sleep I am lucky enough to get.
Last night, I finally was able to fall asleep at 5 am and I woke up at 10:00 am.
It sucks so bad.
8-9
I can survive on 6 but 7 0r 9 is preferrable
I can run on an average of 5.5-6 hours of sleep, as long as I get like 10 hours on a Saturday or Sunday.
I’ve been learning that too much sleep actually makes you groggier. Like most of you, I usually sleep 9-10 hours, but that’s from 1 am to 11 am – 12 pm. It’s not healthy for me either – I have massive bags underneath my eyes. I think someone said that when you sleep during the daytime, you actually need more sleep.
Um. 5 is what I usually get. I probably need about 3 to function right.
Right now I’m running on a bad hours sleep, so about 45 minutes. from 5am-ish to 6am-ish, drifting in and out. I do love naps after school though.
I need less and less sleep too… sort of. It’s more like I feel like I’m wasting time if I sleep too much, time that I could otherwise be using to have fun or whatever
10 hours to feel the best, but I can run on 5 or less.
2-4 to function. 3+3 is preferred (I like to wake up inbetween).
On average, I’d say I get about five hours of sleep… If I go to bed early then I get 12 or more, depending on how early I go to bed and how early I get up. This summer, I’ve been getting 12 hours of sleep because I’d go to bed around 5pm out of sheer boredom.

I can function on 3 hours, but I need at least 6-8 to not fall asleep in the middle of class.
Anywhere between 1 and 10 depending on the drugs I did that night :-p
4 would be perfect! But I need 8 or more hours.
9-10 and I am 38
It doesn’t matter if I get 2 hours of sleep, or 10 hours. I always feel tired the next day. I function better when running on little sleep, which is weird.
Hmm usually about 6-7 to function properly lolz
Doesn’t matter how much I get, it never seems to be enough. I am almost always tired…
About 7-8 hours of sleep. If needed, I can easily function with 4-5 hours.
Since I had my second child, I’ve learned that sleep isn’t necessary every night. It’s a myth. To be Not-Exhausted Mommy I need 3-4 hours a night. To be Well-Rested Mommy, I think it would be nice to have 8 or 9. That said, it’s never going to happen. Because I can be Happy Mommy (or Conscious Mommy anyway) on 3-4 hours every other night or so.

Because I can be Happy Mommy (or Conscious Mommy anyway) on 3-4 hours every other night or so.

you sleep less as you get older because there is not much time left to be wasted.
On average, I need around 8 or 9 hours. Miminal, I need 5 hours. 5 hours is like “I’m awake, but mentally, I’m a wreck” type.
As for my parents compared to me, they can go on a lot less sleep than I do. My dad usually does about 5 to 6 hours. He also wakes up on and off during the night. But he also starts work at about 5 am every day for the last like, 23 years.

Not sure. I’m only good for about four hours at a time. That’s never enough, but it’s rare that I get more.
5-8 hours. I’m a bit of a sleep whore though, taking naps anywhere I can.
Most national chain department stores, including Macys and Nordstrom sell a wide variety of ugg boots footwear. Also, there are specialty shops sprinkled all over the country that either specialize in ugg footwear or at least carry a couple of styles. However, along with the popularity of uggs , there are countless knock-offs on the market. This fake footwear may look like the “real McCoy”, but they are certainly anything but authentic. If you are interested in purchasing a pair of ugg boots , be sure to purchase the footwear from a reputable dealer to ensure originality. One great place that serves as an ugg tall retailers locator is the World Wide Web.The explosion of stores in cyberspace has allowed products to be shipped all over the world. This is one of the reasons why classic tall are so popular in the first place.
7hours
I’m fine when I have 3 hours of sleep…but when I have 6-8 I’m tired, but when I have 10 hours I’m good too.
Depends if there’s something I’m looking forward to the next day.
I find that I am more alert, but also more apt to constantly yawn when I get less sleep. Strange.
I NEED 9+ but I usually get closer to 7…
14. but ever since high school, I’m lucky to get 5 on a week night.

About 7 to 8 hours.
4-5 hours
