Because it’s fun. It doesn’t always have to be an attention thing. It’s often just the same reason that girls will kiss boys. A lot of guys are cocky and will always think “oh, two girls are kissing, they must want MY attention!!” When it often just means girls like each other’s lips.

I have witnessed my friends doing this. In my experience it is because they were very very drunk and guys egged them on.

I kissed a girl, many times, but I was in a relationship with her, which I usually feel is a prerequisite to kissing anyone of any gender. I don’t kiss random stranger girls and I don’t kiss my friends usually, though a guy who kind of liked both of us tried to get two of us to do it once. We didn’t because we both agreed that he would like it too much, lol.
As for most girls? To get attention, I’d think, but it’s worthwhile to note that on the spectrum of sexuality, far more girls admit to bisexual tendencies than men, so perhaps there is some underlying, unexpressed lesbianism. It probably differs for each individual.
I once heard a parody song, which was some guy singing about how he kissed a guy and he liked it. It was funny. I would go and find it if I was not so lazy.

I border between aromantic and homoromantic asexual. There were a few girls I got really affectionate with, but felt no romantic pull towards them. If anything, they either already kissed other girls as a means to display their friendship, or they were curious and used me to experiment on (IT WAS ONLY A PECK! I SWEAR!)

My first thought is because she is beautiful and soft, maybe they click together, have something in common.But for young experimenters they may like the attention from males which is kind of immature but I guess a lot of us pulled this stunt a time or 2.

It’s not sexual, it’s just easier (and probably less embarrassing) than going into a long drunken spiel on how much you love your BFF.
