Unsubscribing
I read posts by other people mentioning how they unsubscribe to other people because they get upset with them.
It is funny because I have been on xanga for over 5 and a half years and I have only unsubscribed to a person that annoyed me about 3 times.I have gone through my list of people I am subscribed to two times and unsubscribed to people I was not interested in anymore.
But I do not tend to unsubscribe to people just because they annoy me.
Do you make it a habit to unsubscribe to people?

I think I have one of the fastest sub/unsub ratios in all the digital lands.
Also I only unsub if they’re inactive for more than six months.
The only time I really unsub is when somebody hasn’t posted in years. I don’t sub annoying people in the first place!
nope. i don’t unsubscribe. I sub with purpose.
Never unsubbed.. only kind of took interest this week tbh
I dont think I’ve ever unsub’d anyone…
What I hate is people who unsub just because they don’t agree with you on something, lol.
I’ve only unsubbed a few times. Mostly to people who update about nothing constantly (like 7 times a day or something lol).
I prob will never unsub even if the person is totally annoying or stops posting just in case said person posts something unbelievable and life changing one day. I would not want to miss out. To this day, I’ve never found anyone annoying to the point where I have to consider unsubscribing to them
I only unsub people if they rec’ too many times. That gets annoying..
I don’t unsubscribe, and if I did, I would do it quietly.
@UR_MUSE - Dan’s the KING of Xanga. It’s just like when the president puts his seal on everything.(:
Anyway, I only unsub if I really don’t like the person. But then I’ll usually block them, too. I never JUST unsub.
Nope not normally. But there has been about three exceptions where I said “goodbye you idiot”. But it is not often that someone changes so much that they go from my subscribing to them to I where I am thinking they’re irritating moron’s.
I don’t think I’ve ever unsubbed anybody.
Hmm. On my main page… I don’t normally unsub to someone unless they’re someone who has gone inactive for a year+… or if they’ve changed their blogging style and consistantly post things I don’t care to read.
no and I really think it’s lame when people announce in a pulse that they unsubscribed to someone..
I know I got annoyed with the ish sites I rashly subscribed to on my first day here…I unsubbed real quick like.
I’ve never unsubbed to anyone… Yet. I’ve only unfriended someone for starting a lot of drama. >_>;;
Also, all the ~ish sites for spamming my universal feed.
I have unsubbed ppl who timestamp too much, because they push other ppls blogs down the line and I miss some good ones! Also if im no longer interested.
But not because im annoyed. Seriously?
HA! I just unsubbed you! How do you like THAT?!
haha
I think I have unsubbed or defriended due to too many mass messages from someone. But I refused to unsub someone who I was tempted to unsub due to the inanity of all their entries once but I didn’t because they were still someone who participates in the community in a non-obnoxious way, and therefore deserves to be given the chance.
I’ve un subbed a couple of times–but both times was because i didn’t mean to sub in the first place
goddammit quit posting the xanga logo on all your blogs.
Every now and then you have to do some housecleaning.
Stop being so god damn insecure. if everyone here has already put up with all your crap before, they obviously don’t care if you are annoying.
i don’t sub enough to make a habit of unsubbing.
Mass message abuse will cause me to unsubscribe more than any other factor.
i only unsub/unfriend people who post things im uninterested in.
I’ve had a xanga since 2003. Back before myspace and facebook were big. My friends and I all had active accounts. However as they all made the jump over to the new sites they seemed to forget about little old xanga. Of all my friends the last post from one was 2007. I keep them subscribed just in case they decide to bring theirs back like I did. However I doubt that will happen. Really you have to be some promotional company using xanga to sell paris hiltons newest fashion trend for me to unsubscribe, if I even subscribed in the first place to that.
Never unsubbed, I’d never do that just ’cause I got annoyed or irritated either.
I have not edited my sub list yet.
I’ve only un-subbed one person because of an annoyance with them. Everyone else who I un-sub, I do so because I don’t really read their blogs anymore. And in all my time on Xanga (about 5 years), I’ve only blocked one person.
I’ve only unsubbed once…not counting Ish sites.
i’ve only unsubbed twice–and i defriended them too. i only do that if they did the same to me or they never ever come around. i’m a bitch like that
I’ve never unsub’d anyone. I didn’t even think about it really.
if they start writing stupid stuff like about how KEWL it is to SMOKE WEED LOLOL then I consider unsubbing.
if they just do things I’m generally not interested in hearing about I unsub…
or if they stop updating.
this reminds me, I should probably go through my list soon – haha
I do about once a year, if that. I go though my lists and delete people I don’t feel like I have a connection with or people who haven’t posted in months. But, other than that, no, because I don’t have time to get on here for that purpose. I usually just read my protected subs, comment, and maybe post.
NO, unsub wouldn’t be my habit (: my habit is probably would be unsubscribing your unsubscriber, mr Dan
That’s too much drama for me. I hardly ever check my sub list. I have “hidden” people’s recurring annoying posts on Facebook, but have never “unfriended” anyone.
shoot no one even reads what i post so sometimes i thinks i should just stop wit xanga all together
Because of there being so many blogs to read, I keep my subs down. That way when I click the sub tab it has only people I def. want to read. I change it up every now and again, but usually my subs are consistent and have no more than 10-15 people in it.
No people stop visiting me or unsubscribe from my Xang but I seldom unsubscribe on the basis that people annoy me. People are welcome to disagree from me. If a person really abuses my xanga by spamming it with unrelated comments then I will usually block them. But if they have an opinion and a need to vent that opinion then they are welcome to do so. They only discredit themselves.
I don’t think I have enough subs to unsub….
I haven’t unsubbed, but there some people I consistently scroll through without reading. I guess it makes sense to unsub them.
Oh yeah, I have unsubbed once, come to think of it. He wrote a post I thought was despicable.
The most common reason I unsub someone is that the stuff they write and the stuff they recommend consistently brings me down for an extended period of time or with an extreme intensity. I don’t expect to agree with anyone all the time, I even expect that there’ll always be people with whom I disagree 100% of the time, but that doesn’t bring me down. It’s stuff that makes me feel like I’m being slimed just looking at my inbox that does it for me. I try to be as tolerant and patient as I can, but sometimes there comes a point when I can’t shoulder the load any more and I have to ditch. Peace
I have unsubbed when people post 30 things in one day or send mass massages too much, very rarely is it because they “hurt my feelings” (meaning they disagreed with me
). A few times if they have stopped posting for a long time I have – or, if they declare they are moving to another site because they are tired of Xanga drama or think it will be easier/better to get comment and community elsewhere, then to you I say – UNSUB… ha ha
I do it and even posted about it. People who constantly time stamp (like 10 times a post) knock others down the list and those who resort to nasty name calling and threats against people who disagree with their political views in comments or generally act like cyber bullies aren’t worth the time it takes to read them.
I’ll unsub people that are truly annoying, or are just comment whores. You know the type.
I’m still subbed to someone who’s been dead for… 6 or 7 yrs.
Not at all. I only do something like that when there’s too much in my inbox or if someone’s blog is consistently offensive to me.
Nah, I just block them. I’m not subscribed to many annoying people, and I’m way too lazy to go through my friends list for the purpose of defriending, haha.
I’ll go through my list from time to time and clear out people that haven’t posted in a loooooong time or that have posted only things I have no interest in reading. Doesn’t happen often, though.
I don’t unsub, I defriend. And you have to do something pretty bad for me to do that.
I don’t unsub to people often. I only do it on the rare occasion I check my sub list and I will remove people who I realise I see in my inbox and never read.
I haven’t unsubbed or unfriended anyone yet,I have blocked spammers.
I like reading “annoying” blogs! It stimulates conversation, debate…and that, to me, is what makes reading any blog worthwhile–the debating of different, interesting subjects. How boring to read only posts that agree with your own point of view! What I DON’T read, and won’t tolerate, are posts that talk in a bad light about other people. Bright people talk about ideas…dull people talk about other people.
No I don’t normally unless they haven’t posted anything in a long time. I mean, you can always just skip right past something.
I had someone a few weeks ago take me off as their friends…. on here and on fb… without any reasoning as to why. We were never in an arguement and never had anything negative to say towards eachother. Then one day she just deleted me. I’m still not sure why. She never responded even to my messages. I thought she owed me that since we’ve known eachother on xanga for almost 5 years. Guess I was wrong. It still kinda stings not knowing why someone would just up and delete you when there was no ill words said between eachother, especially after knowing eachother for an extended period of time… even if it wasn’t in real life. lol
I unsub annoying people, defined as those who post BS 25 times an hour, or those who rec everything in sight. I also once unsubed 850 people simply because the list got too big and I wanted to start over. I just can’t stand having that many opinions coming at me at once. Funny thing is, after going from 950 subs to about 90, I didn’t notice any less comments. It’s creeping back up there again, so I might have to get the lawn mower out.
Yupo I’ve never unsubscribed. Even if they haven’t posted for a while. I think i get more excited if I do see them post after so long. I can think of someone that i need to unsubscribe to but really it’s just easier to ignore their posts lol.
It takes a lot for me to actually subscribe to someone but not be their “friend”. Someone really, really has to be annoying for me to remove them completely from my Xanga. Usually, I just block people. It makes my job easier.
Announcing that you’re unsubscribing from someone is like going on Facebook and putting up a status or posting on someone’s wall about it. “EXCUSE ME. I am going to defriend [insert name here] because I don’t agree with them and they try to tell me that I shouldn’t be sticking peanut butter up my nose and setting myself on fire.”
@Drakonskyr - Like you were? ^_-
No I rarely unsub to anyone.
I only blocked/unsub’ed one person because he kept leaving spam comments in the comment section of my posts, even after I wrote him a very polite letter asking him not to. In general I don’t block or unsub people.
I’ve never unsubbed anyone but you for the Stickman thing you did, other than that I have only deleted my whole xanga a few times so I guess that unsubs a lot. I have deleted people on facebook though, some I asked back and some I haven’t.Facebook is different than Xanga though.Wait,I was subbed to in_reason_i_trust at one time and I just couldn’t take his crap anymore,so I unsubbed him.I have so few now it doesn’t matter, cuz I’m just not into Xanga much anymore.Too much hatred and bitterness,at least It’s what I see where I go on here.
No, I just block them completely.
well yeah, if i don’t care what they have to say anymore then i’m not going to clog up my home page with their blogs.
Ha,Then why they subscribe if that person annoys them -_-’?!
I don`t know.If you are you,that`s ok you`ll get an A+.
I don’t think I’ve ever unsubscribe to someone. Hell, I’ve gotten into heated arguments with some people but haven’t bothered to unsubscribe. I really don’t see the point. Just don’t read their stuff if you’re annoyed. Once you cool down I’m sure you’ll want to subscribe again, so why even bother unsubscribing in the first place. I think people take Xanga, or even internet communities, too seriously sometimes.
Only unsub when the person hasn’t posted in nearly a year.
i unsub those who bore me.
Yes. Recently I ditched everyone and started all over. I found I should have been more selective when I sub & friend. I don’t like to hang out with argumentative or mean spirited people in real life. So when someone I sub to turns out like that, I definitely do unsub.
I’ve never unsubscribed from anyone, though I have thought about unsubbing those that no longer use their blogs…though that’s sort of redundant since I simply don’t get anything popping up from them anyways.
I only unsubscribe if they’re inactive for a few months, or they’ve lost the original kind of “charm” that drew me to subscribe in the first place.
I’m new so I just don’t know.
I don’t think I’ve ever unsubscribed to anyone.
it’s whatever. I do. I unsub people if I don’t like read them, or they have too many pics. I hate that. But I’d still be friends if I like them
I get annoyed with how many posts come up a day….I’m such a loser….I complain about not having that many “friends” or anything new to read lol. But seriously, do you have to nag about three times (posts) a day? So annoying. *Click* Unsubscribe.
The ugg boots are made of Merino sheepskin, which is the best type of materials for ugg available. uggs , which are crafted in such great sheepskin and wool, are sure to have the ultimate warmth and dryness you want. With no comparison, Merino wool has chemical properties that make the UGG Australia very unique. All these characteristics make it possible that all such comfy benefits would be transited to UGG Ultra Short Boots .
this warrants an unsub.
I’ve had several people delete / unsubscribe from me. For what reason, I’m not sure.
LOL
I guess I bitch too much, and I’m probably tell-it-like-it-is.
But, fuck it. Don’t like it, don’t read it. I guess that’s why they unsubscribed
Fuck it!!!!!
not purposely but it seems like when xanga make sthier updates some of us loos epart of our friendship list and i am not sure why but just go with it.
@respawn87 - I’m with you, I have one person I’m subscribed to who sends out messages ALL THE TIME about NOTHING really and I’m thisclose to giving her the axe, which I’ve honestly never done before.
I hate mass messages every day so I only unfriend =]

@TheLizarellaProject - Haha, yep, I have one like that too…. might be the same person… lol. It’s so annoying.
I only remember unsubscribing once; the person was a frequent poster, and I just didn’t want to read ‘em anymore. Most of my “lost subscriptions” have really just been folks who’ve stopped posting; those I don’t remove, just in case they come back sometime. Leaving the proverbial digital light on, as it were.
You always have a very interesting question in your site. That’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to Xanga even in the midst of many people are in Facebook.
I haven’t unsubbed yet, but regardless of the reason I find no reason to post about it.
I don’t unsub anyone, I figure if you’re going to sub in the first place it’s because you’re interested in what they have to say. Even if people disagree with what I have to say about certain topics, I won’t instantly get annoyed – it’s a healthy part of debate and range of opinion.
