  • Last Day of Work

Today is my last day at my job.  I start my new job on Monday.

In order for my job to be done right, I need to stay after work for an extra hour to an hour and a half.  Or I could just blow the place off.

Edit:  I worked 3 and a half hours over.

Would you stay after on your last day of work?

  • Blow that joint.

  • If you lived closer I could pop out of a cake naked for you!

  • Last time I had a last day of work I re-programmed the intercom to play Wu-Tang.

    AIN’T NUTTIN’ TO FUCK WIT

  • stay. always go out in style.

  • No. Slavery was outlawed over 140 years ago.

  • You are like Ebay. People watch for new post from you and then bid a comment. They always want to be on the top. I am your number one fan! [[ me? no, not really. I don't think I EVER got to the top.]

  • Yeah, just to say I ended things on a good note. “Kept working until the end.” Lol

  • Take this job and shove it.  You ain’t workin there no more.

One other question out of curiosity, do you put on your resume that you’re TheTheologiansCafe?

  • yeah, stay til the job is done.  It’s only 90 minutes.  I too am working my last hour of work tonite, and starting a new job on Monday!  I wish ya luck and hope you’re looking forward to the change!  Same kinda work or something different?

  • No, I took my time before I was retired.  I was still really off then, so I was like still running into things and such.  I ate a bunch of fried chicken and stuff.

  • I’d stay and finish the job. If you blow it off, it might be difficult getting a good recommendation from them in the future.

  • Stay. You might need that place for a reference someday.

  • Pfft, I’d have called in if it was my last day.

  • i WOULD stay because it’s not about the job, it’s about what kind of character do i have.

  • Hell no!  I sure didn’t on my last one. And technically I’m still employed by them, and I don’t know how the hell that happened when I told them I quit!

  • Good question! This actually happened to me years and years ago when I worked for Autozone. I was leaving because I wasn’t getting hours, and so to spite me my boss schedule me for 11 hours on my last day (a normal shift was 5-6 in my department). I didn’t stay, 1) because I hate that job, and 2) because the manager wasn’t there, so I told em since I was quitting anyways, that I was just going to leave.

    Different circumstances, I’m sure though.

  •  You’ll stay and finish the job.

  • @k8tthelate - I agree with you.

  • I don’t know. I’m feeling mean today. Normally I’d finish the job but today I don’t know.

  • Depends on your work ethic.

  • Always do your best.

  • Well…I want my former boss to put in a good word for me.

  • First off, I would’ve made sure my work was caught up and my personal belongings already packed so I could leave on time. (Not that you didn’t or wouldn’t.) If there was already somebody to take my place, I would make sure they could take over from where I left off. If not, I would at least ensure somebody trust worthy knew what was going on with anything left unfinished. Regardless, I personally will leave on a good note.

  • Yes, I am someone that likes to get a job completely done. I like the sense of accomplishment.

  • Yeah, assuming that I’d get paid for my time.

  • I think it depends on the job. If you’ve enjoyed your time there then what’s the harm in staying on a bit extra just to do things right.

  • It’s always right to do the right thing.  You stay.  But you take a couple of weeks off before the new job (what were you thinking?)

  • I would because you never know when you’ll need a reference.  And if you leave this new job, they will call your former employer and while they can’t say anything specific, it’s always good to leave on the best terms.  I am a firm believer that you shouldn’t burn bridges with employers because you never know when you’ll run into them in the future.

  • I’ve always stayed and worked my last shift at all my jobs. Most of them I enjoyed working at anyways. Except for my first job ever, I should have just quit one day without a notice. I’m not like that though. I think it really depends on you; whether or not you liked your job and whether or not you care about the references.

  • yep, Id do what I needed to do out of respect for myself. I had a job that I was let go from because it was outsourced. I stayed and left that job so the transfer went smooth and no harm to the company. Foolish you say? A year later the owner of the company got me a better job because he appreciated how I left. And,  to this day I have a good relationship with the family and they would do almost anything for me. Thats worth an extra hour of OT on your last day.

  • Nope. Whatever my end time is, I’m GONE!!

Good luck on your new job!!!! ::hug::

  • I would. The job has to be done right.

  • I’d mess with their stuff and THEN leave. Also, telling the boss that they can “SUKKA MAH BAHWLS.”

  • Why not? If you are going to do something, might as well do it right, or it ain’t worth doing!

  • Maybe.

    Missed ya studybuddy.

  • A new phase of your life starts!  Good luck!

  • If it was reasonable, yes. Not pulling an all nighter though.

  • I would not stay after. Unless I really needed the recommendation.

  • depends if I liked it there and how well I liked my boss.

  • I would if I had really enjoyed my job there and was moving toward something better (salary, position, etc).  I would want to get everything ready for the person who was going to fill my spot to get a good start.

  • Always finish strong. Last thing you want to do is burn bridges.

  • bust outta that joint

  • Not really. Not anymore. I did that at my last last job.

  • I guess it would depend on my standing with the place.  If I left under good pretenses and was cool with the people/work I was involved in I would likely be fine with that, but if it were opposite that, hell no.  It’s your last day, they know you’re done and to make you work longer is like a smack across the face rather than a hand shake and a fare thee well.

  • I’d stay after and finish the job right.
Good luck at your new job!

  • Depends if I liked my job to begin with && my boss. If I didn’t like it at all, I wouldn’t stay.
If I did like my job, I would stay to end on a good note.

  • Depends on if I had anything that needed to be done… I don’t like leaving a mess for the next person, however I am rarely behind on my work, so… The last job that was really clear-cut on my end day, I left early on my last day. It was a holiday and the place was dead. I could have stayed and let the other girl go home since the boss gave me first option, but she was a cunt dragon. Forget her! I was gettin’ me some BBQ!

  • Lol!  Some of your comments are just funny!  Aw man, go w/ your gut!

Has this companty been good to you?  Them maybe stay the hours.  BUT, is it just a crummy hole to work?  Then, maybe leave?  Lol

ps. Excited for new things ahead for you!:)  Bless you.

  • I would work until I was scheduled and clean up my station after my shift was done. That would be that.

  • happy last day of work!

that’s cool you have your next job lined up right there for ya! :D

  • Don’t want to leave my team hanging (as much as possible)…since it’s going to be hard for my team until they fill the void, I would want to make it as easy as transition as possible for them

  • One of my jobs I would’ve, the other I would’ve cut off a limb before I stayed over. But both those jobs I was 16-18 so it’s a little different probably.

  • Yes, mainly because the idea of unfinished/sloppy work awakens my supressed OCD.

Plus, it never hurts to leave things on a good note.

  • Yes, I’d do the same.

  • Yes I would.

  • At my last job, I worked the equivalent of a week’s overtime without pay and did it by choice. I was working with foster kids – some of whom I’d worked with for several years. Considering all the upheaval and instability they had experienced, it didn’t seem right to just leave without a proper goodbye.
