Gays Forced To Mate With Females
Two gays have been forced to mate with females. They were living together happily and they just stepped in and made them mate with females.
The two male vultures nested with each other instead of mating with females. But now the zoo has stepped in and forced them to mate with female vultures so they can reproduce. Here is the link: Link
Gay rights advocates are upset about the move.
Should gay vultures be forced to mate with female vultures?

Well, I suppose it depends on the situation. Were they endangered? Otherwise I think the zookeepers wouldn’t care. It doesn’t seem like it was an anti-gay sentiment, but I haven’t read the link yet.
hmm. well i can understand that since they are going extinct…but couldn’t they just find straight vultures to do the job?
poor gay birds.
Since vultures eat dead meat, I believe the Gay community should be willing to make this sacrifice. We need vultures a lot more than we need humans.
blessings
frank
to be sarcastic…. we’ve been doing that with people for many years. I’m not sure if these vultures want to reproduce.
that’s it. i’m moving off the planet.
I personally wouldn’t have made them mate, because vultures are kind of gross-looking anyway
Just sayin’.
They’re fucking birds.
@CeriseCheri - Good point. Would anyone even care if these things went extinct? Their head looks like poopy
Even nature shows the absurdity of homosexuality,
yes so they could reproduce. If no, who would eat the dead meat on this planet? LOL
I could care less, and being part of the gay community…I’m sick of gays being so damn sensitive to every damn thing!
Should animals be forced to have human labels applied to them? Some animals will hump anything that moves, regardless of gender or species. Animals aren’t gay or straight, they’re just animals.
i don’t think people are offended by them being forced to mate with females so much as the curator claiming they weren’t actually gay. “Detlef is reorienting himself now,” is like saying that despite their preference they can choose to be attracted to a female bird, and people are putting that into human terms, and if it were to happen to humans, yeah i’d be offended. and he hasn’t touched the female bird they shipped it off to mate with so clearly he’s not “reorienting”
this is stupid. not the post, just the whole damn senario.
@saintvi - some animals mate for life though, or are at least very monogamous creatures.
@saintvi - I know people like that….
They artificially inseminate other animals. Why wouldn’t they be able to do that with birds?
aww poor babies
I don’t think this was something gay rights advocates should be upset about–they’re just BIRDS. There is no gay or straight.
If anything, I feel like this would be more of an animal rights issue? If they want to sit in a nest together, let them do that. We’ve already done enough damage by putting them in a cage.
so how about hooking up straights as well?
for the sake of the ecosystem, it was a proper move.
Pandas are going extinct too.
@aznspartan94 - pandas and vultures can’t reproduce, though that would be awesome 8D
I think it depends on situation. Yes it may seems to be forcing the gays to mate with females but looking on the larger scale they may face extinction if all turn gays refused to mate. Same goes for any other animals or even human (if there comes to a point where all guys turn gay I mean).
lol
Mate, ya dang buzzards!!!
I first read the title as “Guys Forced to Mate With Females” and was
wondering where this was happening and if I could get in on this orgy.
Really Dan? You can’t come up with a more interesting, relevent issue to blog about? Gay birds?? *smh* Who cares about some gay birds. They are BIRDS.
Alrighty then…. Based on the comments before mine, am I the only one who didn’t know vultures could be gay? I didn’t even know that animals could be gay!
I think I’m going to have to agree with @SilverBird_Loves
There’s a life lesson to be learned here…
…someplace.
Wow.
@SilverBird_Loves - can you get me a ticket off this rock too?
Or you know, you can try to bisexualize the vultures. That’s more convenient and brings peace to both sexes.
… really
there is no such thing as a ‘gay” vulture
Ha ha ha….
Reminds me of Harry and Pepper at the SF Zoo. Some gay penguin drama was going on there.
Birds are mostly monogamous and will only stay with one partner, whether for a season or in rare cases, for life. I wouldn’t say to force them to breed, but room them with females should they want to seek another partner just in case. Let them do what they wish, animals can feel stress too you know.
@armnatmom - You’d be surprised how common homosexuality is among the animal kingdom. Bats, so far, have the highest rate of homosexuality.
Well, that explains Edward Cullen.
@Uek - hahah ~ they are not fucking that is what the curator of the zoo is worried about. If they swang both ways, there might not have been a problem.
It’s a zoo, who cares? I read the article, and yes they’re intended to breed to boost the population so it makes sense that they’ll try to swap them out with females to encourage that. Nothing to do with gay rights whatsoever lol.
He wasnt actually forced to mate.. they are just hoping he will by moving him!! I love your need for drama. It is always amusing!
There’s not a vulture overpopulation, so I don’t see the problem.
If humans were underpopulated, we can do (and have) the same thing.
If there was a shortage of vultures perhaps, but not just for the sake of breaking up the vultures. I think this move was more about what people think, than about what is good for the vultures.
I would agree with the line of thinking that these are just animals and it shouldn’t make a difference whatever sexual orientation they are, as it is a human concept. It does make me wish that animals could talk sometimes, ha, but they can’t and the fact is, they probably have no real concept of “homosexuality”. They are birds who see other birds. If only people would see other people that way sometimes. :p
As for making them mate… if they did it easily enough, then who’s to say they shouldn’t have been made to? There are many breeding programmes “forced” on endangered species you know, so…
If you don’t want them to die out, I’d imagine so. I don’t know how rare that species is yet. And how exactly can you “force” an animal to mate? *goes to read the article to see if it answers her questions*
Tis fine by me, to perpetuate the endangered species.
*facepalm*
If it’s true that they gotta reproduce to save the species, then that’s that.
Also, birds aren’t persons. The closest thing we have to sentient birds are a species of parrots that have demonstrated an understanding of the concept of zero, I believe.
This is stupid. We’re concerned about the mating habits/sexual orientation of VULTURES???
SERIOUSLY????
Yes, but only as a last resort.

… Lol. It’s for the good of the birds? >.<;
Vultures are endangered, humans aren’t, gays are most definitely not.
Maybe the gay rights advocate should start to think sensibly before being upset.
Are you friggin’ kidding me?!
Well obviously these vultures chose to be gay, and should be thanking the zookeepers for saving them from hell.
I’m not 100% sure how one can force male vultures to mate against their will, and I’m not entirely convinced I want to know. I’m also not sure that forcing them to mate will atually work. And I absolutely don’t think this has anything to do with gay rights, and yes, I’m gay. I just don’t feel like that birds need exactly the same rights as humans. Or if they do, let them register to vote.
I would hope if the human race was facing extinction, gay men (and women) would be able to suck it up and do it for the sake of keeping the species alive. Just cause your straight doesn’t mean in an “almost to extinction” scenario, you are going to be attracted to the person you have to mate with. We all must make sacrifices, dammit!
@Uek -
well said.
@Uek - Yeah, hahaha! Excuse me while I go out for some fried chicken before I start protesting the infringement on a vulture’s right to privacy.
Yes, they should be – they are animals and they dont know whats best for them.
Maybe they were practicing. One teaching the other who must have been a really dumb vulture. How do they know the vultures were “gay” anyway?
if they’re going extinct, sure. but, can’t they just put the two males back together after the ‘mating’? LoL
BIRDS. Really now.
If lesbian vultures were fucking, which one would wear the strap-on? Would they bey a butch and femme lesbian vulture couple and if they lived near Lincoln Center would they turn into culture vultures????
@ANVRSADDAY - Frank, the light of your wisdom often shines through on Xanga and today is indeed such a time. This planet has too many humans who act like vultures in a figurative sense, and not enough bona fide vultures who only know how to act like themselves.
If it is done to preserve the species then yes.
Reminds me of Gay Al from South Park.
wow face.
*facepalm*
not about you writing this topic Dan but the situation lol
I don’t really like the idea of forcing anything to mate with anyone. :p But, to be honest, just because they nested with each other does not make them gay. :p Also, bisexuality is more common in the animal kingdom than homosexuality or heterosexuality. Some animal species can even change their sex, depending on whether there is a shortage of males or females to mate with (certain types of fish come to mind over this).
how did this even get posted….
@XoAsianBabioX - I’m sure this type of thing has been going on in nature since the beginning of time, and the ecosystem has been just fine. Do you really think this occurrence at the zoo is the first time it’s happened ever?
I think people are just upset because it disproves the Christian way of thinking (and any other religion against the gays) that it’s not natural to be gay. Obviously, that kind of thinking is wrong because this isn’t the first time… remember the penguins? So people will argue, but we are the superior race of the animal kingdom because we are human beings and we have thoughts and we can change our behavior. Well, animals have thoughts too… or do you think that they are robots moving around with no purpose? Or perhaps puppets on strings? I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of gay couples in nature of all kinds of species, even the proven more intelligent ones. Let the gay birds be merry.
@lonelywanderer2 - LOLLLLLLLLLL
@crazy2love - i’m not saying that this is the only occurrence in nature, but a previous commenter said that these vultures are endangered. so my comment was in reference to that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_displaying_homosexual_behavior
This isn’t that unheard of, animals mating with the same sex. I think they were in the wrong in doing that. Why not mate a pair of straight birds? Besides, how in the hell do you force animals to mate anyway?!
Some animals mate for life and become emotionally attached to their partner. I know swans do… and swans can choose a partner of the same sex too.
And I’ve seen lovebirds mourn the loss of their mate and get sick because of it.
WOW!
i don’t know, but i find it kind of funny
Once again, Dan’s blog brings out the stupidity in everyone!
Yes, there are GAY birds. Homosexuality is based on sexual preference, so if your argument is that birds can’t love and therefore can’t be gay, you’re wrong on a grammatical level. Beyond that, animals can feel love, especially monogamous ones. There have been studies done. Their brains release the same sorts of chemicals (when around their mates) human brains release when in love. And that’s all love really is: a chemical reaction.
Beyond that, observation has proven that there are several species that have higher incidence rate of homosexuality than humans. Birds, especially swans and other waterfowl, show a much higher rate of same-sex pairing than most other groups of animals. Dolphins have a notable population of homosexual males that live in pods and have sex purely for the pleasure of it (fun fact: dolphins are part of a rare subgroup of animals that have sex purely to enjoy it) without ever turning to females to mate.
Of the waterfowl that are same-sex, an odd behavior has been observed. Sometimes gravid female birds who are generally unsuitable for parenthood (lost their mate, has had a high incidence of infant mortality, or is bad at incubating eggs) will find the nest of a same-sex couple, lay her eggs in it, and leave. The same-sex couple then incubates and raises the babies as their own, and often have much better survival rates of the babies than the mother who laid her eggs in their nest.
As for the LGBTQ community getting all up-in-arms about them “forcing” two males to breed with females:
1. I doubt they forced them to do it. It sounds like they moved them to different areas (countries), placed them with females, and waiting for something to happen. The zoos acknowledge that they are not breeding with their intended “love interests” and show…no interest in them.
2. These vultures are not endangered, but could become endangered soon. I’m really tired of humanity deciding to fix something once it becomes a problem, instead of using preemptive strikes. If this works, good. If not, put the poor birds back together and leave them alone.
3. I doubt highly it would be so much of a problem with the community if they weren’t, and excuse the phrase, the modern-day Jews. What I mean by that is in the early Roman empire, when they weren’t killed in mass numbers or anything, but just forced to have a symbol on their house and were generally despised. It seems as though it’s coming to that. And I’m not so sure anyone would really put up a stink here in the US if someone stomped about all crazy-like and hunted gays, anyway.
Animals are not people. We personify them too much. They are much more pure in their behaviors and actions than we could ever imagine, so putting labels on them, seems idiodic. So to say they love and are gay, seems questionable. Do we really know the vultures preference? Or are we, as humans, projecting our own wants and ideas on them? Sure, it’s sad that they rip the vulture from one place to another, but they do that to all the animals everyday at all Zoos. Ripping baby hippos from their mothers to another zoo that “needs” a hippo. That should be the real issue looked at. Lastly, no one is “making” the birds mate. They are just moving him so he might mate to produce more of an animal that is going extinct. To the zoo keepers, the ends justify the means, and why shouldn’t it? All zoos lock up extinct animals everyday anyways? They see no other choice to protect dying breeds. Maybe someone could come up with a better idea for saving endangered species.
uh if we were endangered, gay men would help…. I think.
POOR HOMOSEXUAL BIRDS.
Joto birds.
How can they force them short of artificially inseminating the females from the males? And that’s not actual sex. An unaroused male canNOT get it up, so how could one be forced?
@Uek -
Uek says, “They’re fucking birds.”
But not until they mate mate with the females
Where’s the ACLU when you need them?
How do they even know that these vultures are gay?
LOL Just wondering how two male buzzards would make out. Oral? Anal? Other?
yes because unlike humans, they are most likely too dumb to know about the importance of reproduction and this may cause extinction.
whatever happened to bromance? just because they were best buds doesn’t make them gay. pandas spend too much time alone and they are the ones that need to be forced to mate. ugly scavenger birds don’t need to mate.
lol, i’m not bothered.
@Mangonese - Thank you. Your comment was a refreshing breeze after all the stupid ones prior.
“Two gay male penguins, Harry and Pepper, started living together at the
San Francisco Zoo in 2003, and five years later adopted, incubated and
hatched an egg abandoned by a female penguin, Time magazine reported. But their romance didn’t last. Last year, Harry left Pepper for a recently widowed female, Linda.” LOL who knew penguins were so dramatic?
No, I don’t think they should be forced to mate with females but I do think they should be STRONGLY encouraged to attend one of those Christian rehab places that are supposed to make you straight.
Were they really gay or just “roommates”?
No! They’re not endangered, and there’s really no reason for them to do that. Poor birds! How cruel
“Oh no, obviously that means the gay humans are next!”
We once had two boy parakeets, Bill Bell and Roger Bobo. They were named after famous tuba players. They mated all the time. Then Roger laid eggs and hatched them. So much for thinking we had gay birds. Roger was a great mom and Bill was an exemplary dad. They kept thinking they were both guys, I guess, because we kept calling them Roger and Bill. I hate to think of the emotional damage we inflicted on our birds by arbitrarily assigning one of them the wrong sex and a man’s name.
Oh, damn, the right wing has gotten to the zoos, too? I’m pretty sure this is the vulture equivalent of people trying to get gay people to “repent.” What, are the vultures going against the will of God? I can see the problem if they were an endangered species, but, other than that, it’s fine, almost like population control (lol).
hahahaha so are they gay vulture rights advocates now?
Yes, because they’re vultures.
Has anyone actually talked to these birds? Maybe they were roommates. People are starting to get a little too sensitive when they start projecting their fears of persecution onto vultures and penguins. I can’t.
