  • President Obama Gets 12 Stitches

President Obama was hit in the face while playing basketball and he had to get 12 stitches in his lip.  Here is the link:  Link

I have never broken a bone but I had stitches twice.

What is the worse injury you have ever received?

  • My nose has been broken three times.

That’s it, though. Nothing else worth mentioning.

  • Ouch. At least they might give him a lot of vicodin!

  • At least he didn’t try to make it into a hate crime

I broke my femur in half when I was 10.
An old guy in his car hit me on my bike doing 40.

  • Twelve stitches just for a busted lip? Must have been bad.

I had stitches after squeezing out the twins. That’s probably the worst injury I ever had.

  • i broke my toe. the one beside my pinky toe. well, my husband broke it. same difference.

  • I’ve had 5 stitches under my chin from diving chin first onto the floor during volleyball practice.

  • A broken collar bone from judo and an emergency room visit for stitches from a motorcycle accident.

  • i was fried by solid contact with a 12,500 volt power substation bus. knocked out 15,000 houses. blew a main breaker at hydroelectric plant 30 miles distant. kidneys temporarily shut down. 11 surgeries in 5 weeks. lost right arm above the elbow, nearly lost right leg, and i have no feeling in three of the five fingers on my remaining hand. also, i once had appendicitis.

  • when i was 4 years old i hit my head on a rock, and apparently hard, and split my head open in the back. they had to shave down some hair, and put in seven stiches. yeeeeahh.

  • Broken arm.  Broken leg.  Different incidents.

  • whoa… the same thing just happened to my boyfriend! haha weird.

  • Um… I flipped my bike and got a ton of scrapes that left virtually no scars…

    I am pathetic!

  • breaking my right hand, dislocating my right shoulder, and having my main ligament in my right shoulder ripped entirely off and sustaining that injury for 4 1/2 years until finally giving me my much needed surgery.

  • I got 16 stitches in my arm after I put it through a glass window when I was a really angry teenager. Scars are still there. That’s about it. Never broke anything, thank goodness for that.

  • Got glass caught in my foot and had to have 5 stitches and then when I was younger I busted my head and had to have a stitch on my forehead

  • @complicatedlight - Wow! Thank God you’re still here!

  • The most painful was slamming my finger in a car door . . . Never broken a bone or had more than 5 stitches though.

  • Ouch that sucks.  I had the skin cut off an inch by inch area on my hip and it had to grow back cuz there was not enough skin there for stitches. I have a pretty nice scar.

  • Poor Barraaaaaack!

    @PunkRockCowboy - Face circumcision?

  • I dunno, never really felt anything THAT painful, and I’ve sprained the same ankle twice.

  • my middle son woke me up buttheading me in the nose bridge and the next few days it was swollen with tad of blackness around my eye. but other than that  i have never actually had a bad case of accidents like that. at least not according to my own memories though my mom tells me i was attacked by a dog who treated me like a rag doll when i was 2.

  • Football in the groin.

  • Several bad falls, but the worst injury was car accident when I was 17, got 35 stitches in my forehead.

  • when i was little i was running laps around my grandpa’s big table, tripped over the rug, hit the shoe rack (which is made of wrought iron) … my teeth went through my bottom lip and i split open my chin :)  i have a nice, perfectly straight scar

  • When I was 4, I was jumping over a chair & my foot caught the seat & I fell head first & I needed stitches. I was lucky though. I could have fallen the wrong way & gotten hurt alot worse than I had. The doctor was a jerk to us but he did the stitches good. That was 20 years ago so they didnt have desolving stitches, I remember having to get those taken out. Not fun…

  • “at least he didn’t make it a hate crime” … honestly, what the hell goes through some people’s heads?  way to sound like an idiot.

  • I’d be a little scared (to the point of shitless-ness, perhaps) to be the guy who bashed him.

Worst injury? 2nd degree burns on my stomach. Something like that.Or this freakin’ ankle that refuses to heal.

  • @complicatedlight - that is why you are the brightest guy I know : )

  • Second degree burn :< that sucked.

  • I fell on my forehead as a kid on the sotny road and had to get it stiched.

  • @storyslut - brightest? what’s that got to do with…oh you mean cause of the…I GET IT NOW :P

  • Many years ago, my right middle finger received a compound fracture. Was doing ok until I saw part of my finger dangling and the bone sticking out!   Then of course I started screaming like a banshee.   But the most painful was earlier this year when I was thrown off a horse. Landed flat on my back and in the hospital, after flying through the air about 30 feet.

  • Dislocated shoulder, broken nose.

  • Not counting surgical wounds – a sprained wrist.

  • A bad cut on my leg. Knock wood, I wouldn’t want to get a worse injury.

  • novacaine.

don’t they understand that we enjoy hurting ourselves?

and we see like “everyone’ else.

  • bouncing off a skyjack and breaking my foot… is the worst injury… the worst experience was food poisoning and i.v. for 2 days in the hospitol.  nothing tops that.  i thought i was going to die on the floor in my own house before my mother took me seriously and took me to the doctor who then admitted me into the hospitol.  you’d think my mother would have had a clue i was sick being she worked in the same hospitol at the time.  she never thinks i’m sick.

  • I have received Injuriesmighty blows on heart which cant be stiched :)

  • I’ve broken my foot several times. I’ve had injuries that likely needed stitches, but I just did without. Nothing too bad really.

  • I bet you he uses this in his next speech about health care.

  • 12 stitches on a lip…dang.

once i cut my leg, i had to get stitches on the inside and outside :o
i think it was about 12 stiches too actually haha

and once i had 7 stitches on my finger!

  • A c-section is the worst injury I’ve ever had. It’s a major surgery cutting through muscles and nerves and everything else. It really sucks, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I’ve never broken anything, but I’ve also had 4 stitches on my right hand from slicing it open while doing dishes when I was 8 mos pregnant with my son (the glass broke with my hand inside it) and when I was 11 I was shot in the face with a bb gun, the metal bb went right through my cheek and hit my jaw bone. It cause a hole (now the scar looks like a dimple) and I still have the bb in my jewelery box.

  • Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird our pres shoots hoops in a sweaty t-shirt instead of hitting teeny white balls into shallow holes wearing plaid pants?

  • @CeriseCheri - A car broke your femur?? Holy crap that sounds freaking painful

  • Let’s see, I have two contenders for that title:

    1.  Age 14 (well, about a month before my birthday), I fell off a swimming pool, and broke my left radius and ulna, right about where I wear my watch (I wasn’t wearing it at the time).  It wasn’t set right, and I had to have surgery to have my arm rebroken and reset.  Some of the bones in my wrist were knocked out of their proper alignment, and for two or three months, I had three pins in my wrist as well.  This was my freshman year in high school, and I failed Typing class because it is impossible to type with one arm encased in plaster from the knuckles to the middle of one’s upper arm.

    2.  A couple of years ago, I took a spill on my bike, and really banged up my left shoulder.  I needed surgery to put two screws in my left humerus, and to repair damage to my rotator cuff.  (I’ve written about this on my own site; check the entries with the tags “surgery” and “humerus.”)

  • @TheGildedCage - I’ve sliced my hand open like that once.  Curiously enough, I remained calm through the whole process of getting my hand stitched up.  My next door neighbor, who I had asked to drive me to the ER, was the one freaking out.

  • First- HAHAHA. That’s what he gets.

2nd- my worst injury was fracturing my thumb.

  • stitches on my chin running downhill and accidentally hitting it on a cement garbage can when I was 7 or 8, and a sprained ankle about two years ago? Fortunately, no broken bones yet,  knock on wood.

  • Pancreatitis due to gall bladder surgery.

  • Poor Obama, but he will be ok. At least he was a good sport about it.

  • Around 11 when I had a birthmark removed. It was potentially damaging in the long run and I could let sun hit it. There is a long, jagged scar on my back because of it. With in the same time period had my tonsils out.

A few years after that, I was running down the steps with out much care, one of the wooden poll things had a nail in it and sliced a small section of my palm open had to get a few stitches, there is still a slight scar.

Had some kind of staph infected bug bite on my leg, didn’t go to the hospital until I was literally shaking from the chills, and it was slightly warm. It was the night of my high school graduation party (a few days after graduation) They lanced and drained it, and slowly close on its on with the help of keeping it open with some kinda process I forgot. Now its a scar of a indentation and slight discoloration.

  • I’ve never broken a bone, or sprained a ligament or tendon, and I’ve never had stitches. In my 35 years on this planet my worst injuries have required only a band-aid at the most. Then again, I was a pretty tame kid who spent a lot of time reading rather than playing outside…never really got into sports of any sort for extended periods. I did take martial arts classes in the 2nd grade and in 10th grade – 2 years total.

    I’ve also never had surgery.

    Blah. Ramble.

  • Nothing too bad, knock on wood.

  • i was working on the night shift at fairview hospital.  my floor was split up by three pods with 12 patients, all with private rooms each.  i was working on pod c that night.  we had a pot luck that night so when it was quiet i walked to the break room and got some pasta salad and a sprite and went to pod b to talk to my friend. it was about 2:40 am.  as i was eating and laughing with lynne and ellen when i heard the code blue alert go off.  i just knew it was mr. hrokja in room 27.  i jumped up so fast!!! i stepped on the chair as i was taking off and the chair shot across the room one way and i flew threw the air(im not exaggerating) about 5 feet and hit head first into the edge of a doorway!!! i was so stunned i didnt even realize what had happened i just jumped up and started running to pod c again. as i was running i started feelin something warm and wet pouring down my head and neck and all over my shirt so i stopped noticing the pain in my head and put my hand to my head. i was horrified when i pulled my hand off my head and looked at it!!! my hand was covered in fresh red blood and it just kept coming. i looked down and i was standing in a puddle of blood!!! doctors running to the code blue on pod c were surprised to see this scene and they kept wanting to stop and help me but i urged them on. “im ok im ok go to room 27!!!!!” after realizing how much blood i was losing i started getting sick to my stomach and light headed and i almost fell but luckily lynne was there with a chair which she caught me with.  she looked at the injury in my scalp and she said omigawd jenn!!!!! u need to get to the er!!!! i was crying by this time cuz it hurt so fucking bad, but i wasnt sobbing.  all in all i had a huge gash in my head. i ended up gettting 24 stitcges in my head. i still hav a big ole scar there and it hurts sometimes

  • and about obama…..i wish it had been a worse injury

  • @complicatedlight - well to be fair, i knew phil would win this contest as soon as i saw the question.

  • I’ve never had a bad injury with broken bones, but when I was five I fell out of a table booth and hit my face on a high chair. I had two black eyes and a huge egg on my forehead. I almost broke the bones around my eye, but that was the only time I had to go to the hospital. I remember I wanted to break my arm in elementary school so I could have people sign my cast haha.

  • Stitches as well…three different times, three different places. Big fun.

  • I broke my foot once, tore pretty much everything in it, and I broke my finger.

  • Owned.

Fractured fingers….God knows how many times, fractured collar bone.

  • OH WHO THE HECK CARES! there a million things going on in the world and this makes top blogs?! Im sorry he is in pain but he is playing basketball when the economy is on the decline give me a break…WHo reced this crap?

  • Drowned innocence, crushed spirit, and a mortally wounded sense of self-worth.

Oh, did you mean pysically injury? Well, I have two scars around my lips. The scar on the left happened when I dropped my cat Crackers over the basement stairs; I was three. The scar on the right happened three weeks before my junior prom when I was
attacked by my Amazon parrot Chester; I was mortified. No stitches, but these were traumatic
    injuries inflicted by “loving” pets.

  • I unwittingly placed my fingers on a door jamb (not the knob side… the hinges side). My cousin slammed the door and let’s just say that 2 of my nails gave in and had to be removed in the emergency room. It had been pretty bloody. I was around 6 or 7, then.

  • It appears he’s equally as skilled on the court as he is at running the nation.

  • I’d tell you, but it involves childbirth, and I just think it’s too early in the morning to talk about it.
